My 21st is coming up... what did everyone do for theirs?

Well, my 21st is in just under 14 days. Very exciting...

Except I have NO IDEA what I'm ging to do for it... Not only that, but people are asking left right and centre what I want...

What does one do or ask for on their 21st. Everytime I say "I wouldn't mind this" or "how about we just do this" I get funny looks, and people saying "You can't ask for that, this is your 21st!! Think of something else" or "Thats not much of a celebration".

I'm finding, its not ME that is hard to please, but everyone around me.

So, what did you all do for your 21st? What did people give you?

I had wanted to have a fancy dress, but was pregnant so decided not to have a party.

Leasha, it's your birthday, your party, do whatever you want. If people love you, they'll celebrate whichever way you decide too.

My 21st isn't till next June but my mum has always thrown a massive party for my 2 older brothers and buys us all personalised number plates. Why don't you just have a massive party and get everyone to bring a dish!!

What suggestions have you already come up with that other people don't like?? It's your birthday and if that is what you want HAVE IT!!

Well, all I have asked for is to go shopping (need some spring/summer clothes), or a day at a spa or something... apparently no one will give me something unless I can keep it forever... which to me seems silly because I'd rather something I can enjoy now, than just have it sit on my cabinet looking at me.

I don't want a party, as I'm not a party girl, I don't drink alcohol, I really woldn't enjoy myself around a bunch of drunken people!!!! I just want to go out for a nice dinner or lunch or you know I'd reallylike to just have fish and chips on the beach at dusk with Shel... but apparently thats not good enough. Even MIL is saying "No, you have to do something wild!!!!"

I'm was just wondering if anyone did anything tame or even boring (though boring is fine by me) for their 21st, so I can say "look, see, you don't HAVE to be a drunken fool on your 21st!!!".

I was pregnant for my 18th & 21st, so for my 18th all I did was put $10 in the pokies & my dad cooked me a steak. For my 21st DH & I went out for lunch where I enjoyed a glass of champagne & then had pizza delivered for tea. I had a party for my 22nd instead, but still didn't go over board. DH got me a 3 piece outdoor setting & my mum got me a diamond necklace for my 21st. A friend engraved a champagne glass for me, but that's all i remember getting. I think someone gave me a nice candle from the $2 shop & someone else gave me a plant pot that was an unwanted prize, but i think the most important thing is that I did it the way I wanted & I had the people there I cared about.
What I got & what I did aren't what's important. It's who was there to celebrate with me.

It's a long time ago but when I turned 21 we hired out a function room in a pub and invited close family and friends. We had a menu of pub grub that people could order a meal off that list. We provided some jugs of beer & softdrink & some caraffes of wine to start with then after they went people had to purchase their own drinks.

To be honest I can't remember what I was given for my 21st so it can't be anything memorable....but it was a long time ago.

We got married 5 weeks before my 21st and had just bought our house so money was TIGHT. I just had a BBQ at home and everyone brought their own chairs and drinks. It was very casual and relaxed and I had a great time. My folks got me a limited edition print by artist I love. DH got me a necklace and I cant remember anything else significant. I really wasnt into the whole gift thing.

I'm like you Alisia, not much of a drinker/party girl and i didn't want a huge drunken party with friends, to me, that's not really memorable.

So my family and I all went up to QLD and got a huge suite at Palazzo Versace and stayed there for 3 days and had a beautiful dinner on my actual birthday! The best bit was getting a full body massage at their day spa!

Do what you and Shel can treasure, i think it would be great just having fish n chips on the beach watching the sunset!

Oh and I got all Tiffany & Co. gifts from my family, and because i didn't have a party, my friends didn't really get me anything... or not that I can remember!

    Hi,
Well lucky me got to have my 21st in hospital!
Mum and dad gave me some money that I put towards a cruise that i did at the end of that year!

I received some beautiful gifts from family, including a jewllery box, and a $200 gold coin, as well as a bottle of Port that my dad bought the day that I was born.

I think do whatever you want to do. It is your day. there is no rule to say that you have to have a big party. I am not a "throw a party" person, and am happier to go to a resturant with people that I really want to spend the day with.

I had a BBQ for four of my best girlfriends and my family (mom, dad and sisters), because I have just gone through a terrible breakup and did not want a party. Turned out to be the best birthday ever, because I had the ppl that I really cared about there to share the day with me.
So just do whatever you want, because it's your day. You don't have to entertain other ppl!
