unless it's on a beach or something like that DH always wears a tie. His theory is he can always take the tie off but if it's less formal than first thought.

I can still remember what most people wore to my wedding, which was over 7 years ago, and people didn't wear anything weird or out of place.

For weddings, even my son wears a suit and tie. That's what you wear for a wedding if you are a boy. OK so DS has about 6 ties to pick from now due to weddings, but that isn't the point - the point is that I get him something special for a wedding. And he wears his tie.

I just don't understand the "I don't like ties so I am going to look like I just don't care on someone else's wedding day" mentality. OK so ties aren't super comfortable - get a shirt with a slightly larger neck then and it will be comfortable. And suck it up - you think our shoes/underwear are comfortable? Get over yourself.

    Agree.

And as for the expense, DH wandered into a second hand shop the other day and picked up a nearly new suit for $65....

Ties aren't super comfortable but really they're not super uncomfortable either. I wore one for many years and it never made me feel uncomfortable.
