Wow Mel thats so great about Rebecca's news - must be a weight off your mind! Glad the girls are on the mend.
Dis - Beau has sensitive skin too but thankfully he hasnt ever had a rash from the Aldi nappies - we kind of alternate between them and huggies as we dont always go to the centre that has Aldi. I want to get some more MCHN when we get pregnant again (fingers crossed) - I loved the ones I had but B has grown out of them now, the were organic ones and far to dear (arounds $100 a pop) What kind do you use?
Us - I am working tonight and staying in the city and working tomorrow - I just went to the chemist to get sleeping pills as I never sleep away from home...oh well hope its not too painful! Beau is a bit better today, hope he turns for DH LOL!!!
Wow, busy girls!! It's great to see everyone in here again!!
Kris, I usnderstand those stupid sayings, my mum's is 'Been there done that' I'm sick to seath of hearing it. One day she'll say it and I'm going to snap and say what I'm really thinking instead of biting my tongue (sometimes I actually have to BITE my tongue to stop it coming out!)....She also says the 'I did it by myself...' but the difference is that she had her children young and her mum was still working full time...my mother doesn't work.
Some days we're up 4-5 times for a dummy too. Or it's for a 'dink'. She drinks up to 300mls through the night sometimes! Or she's lost her 'bap'...blankie. Sometimes through the night if she's in bed with DH I hear her say 'Da?' cause she can't feel him touching her and he has to move closer and hold her, it's sooo cute! But usually it's just 'numnum?' (dummy). Every night like clockwork she wakes at about 11pm and has to come into our room to sleep. I think she knows that Liam is there with us and she feels left out. If we don't bring her in then she's awake a thousand times a night and it's just so not worth it.
DG, I wasn't implying that you're not capable of doing it, but it would challenge the most seasoned person to care for that many under 2's!! I would go insane that's for sure. I do here when its just Lil me and Liam! Especially when I have to feed him and Lil's in a mood. You are very lucky to have so many people wanting to help though. I wish I did.
I hear you on Jared sleeping on his tummy. Liam likes to as well. And he has to be wrapped still, so he's like a little catterpillar, lol! He can still roll in it all believe it or not. I try to keep him on his back, but usually wake to him on his tum, with his head on my boob his own cosy, milky pillow...lol!
Jen, lol, I get a bit teary when I think about it too. But I have had some really atrocious days, weeks. I just want her to know that I will help her. I'm her mummy and if I don't help her no matter what, who will? I hope she has more friends and inlaws and stuff to turn to aswell, but if she ends up like me with not many friends (and none that I would really call on for help) and no other family that will help, well, I'll be there for her. I don't want her to EVER feel as bad as I have at times in the past 2yrs. At least your mum is honest with you. Mine isn't, she tries to find every excuse under the sun, it's all about everyone else, other people's fault, there's no 'I'm too old/ tired/ lazy to look after her'. Plus she looks after my bro's 2 kids and has done so for 8yrs. So to me if she can do it for them, why not mine? Or even help in other ways. She could come and help me clean my house, or cook a meal and bring it over. But no...
Ok enough ranting...you hit a sore spot of mine!!!
Have fun working this weekend...is it fun to work weekends???? LOL!
Mel, yayyyyy about R's hips!! What a relief to know, for now at least, she's all good!
Our weekend will be fairly quiet I think...no plans at the mo anyway, but that might change at the drop of a hat!! Have a great weekend girls.
Kel, it's all right. I probably COULDN'T manage all four of them I just feel so bad that you have nobody to help you out, especially since I'm so lucky.
LOL at Liam using your boobs as a milky pillow. Jared's favourite way to go to sleep right now is laying on my chest using my boobs as pillows. They're grow up to be booby men for sure
Jen, we use Baby Beehinds for Ben and will be trying Jared on them for the first time sometime this week. We have never had probs with them for Ben and he doesn't mind the bulkiness at all. We have had slight leakage once or twice when we use them overnight, but that's it. I've got another lot on order right now - a six pack for $125, so they're much cheaper than the organic ones you've used before and they are a one-size-fits-most variety so we can use them for both boys. I have a few Baby Beehinds all in ones as well for Ben and they're good too.
Okay, Jared is starving (Bloody 6 week growth spurt!) so I'm off to feed him yet again!!!
Hey Ladies,
Such a gorgeous day here...we have walked the dogs to the shops already and mowed the lawn - my legs are buggered now as I spent all weekend up and down a ladder painting trees on walls at work!
Beau is good, seems a bit happier than last week so far....he is saying his own name a bit now and starting to repeat words straight after us. I missed him like crazy when I was away overnight and its always so worth it when I get back in the car at the station and he holds my hand from the back seat the whole way home....pretty cute!
Kel - It must be hard to understand why your mum can look after your brothers kids and not yours, you must have a lot of self control not to blurt out things you might regret, especially whent they are dismissive comments about what you are going through right now. Where do DH's folks live? Are they more supportive at all? I cant imagine what it must be like still having Lil waking so much in the night -it must feel like you have two newborns at night time, especially with DH sleeping on the floor, you must feel like a full time mum and nothing else sometimes? IYKWIM? I guess it wont be forever and it will get easier.
Dis - I have checked out Baby beehinds before on a website, I will definately keep it in mind for the next one (hopefully) - we still have the occaisonal leakage with disposables when Beau drinks a lot before bedtime so I think you get it with anything really.
Ok, I am doing nothing until Beau wakes up! Ta ta!
Its really worth getting dedicated night nappy if you're having leakage problems - or it can be worth using both long boosters instead of one long, one short. Try to use a wool or fleece cover overnight so the butt breathes.
/off hobby horse
Love the new av DG!
ARGHHHH I so want to start TTC! Have a dr appt on the 26th and if my meds are all stable then we can start, I never wanted this long a break between kids.
Hey girls, probably a quick ramble from me this morning before the girls are at it. Its been a horror few days, Becca has been fussing and doing overnighters and doesnt want to be put down. She has 200mls of ff and has only been having bits and pieces at a time and feeds have been taking 1.5hrs (not great at 3am). She has been sleeping for 10 minutes the wakes up screaming. Luckily Olivia has been pretty good with it all. On Saturday night we stayed at mums and I got little sleep as Becca did the whole crying thing til 1230 and would only settle for my mum and then Olivia was awake at 430...dont blame her the portacot was hard as a rock. She wouldnt go back to sleep til mum left for work at 630. So I was K.Oed! Must be a growth spurt for the little moo!
Olivias been in her toddler bed for 2 weeks now without too much hassel. We put Becca in the cot yesterday for a nap and Olivia stood on the side and screamed....wake upppp baby becca!!! Needless to say she did and it took ages to comfort her!
Grrr! I posted last night but it's not there!! I hate that!!
Just a quick one then to say hello!
We had a great weekend away at Toora - the boys had a ball but are both now sick with colds - again! It was so nice to get away as a family with no distractions and we all had lots of fun playing on the jumping pillow, playgrounds and swimming pool!!
Mel - big hugs on Becca being a little terror at the moment! Hopefully she settles down soon...
Kaz - I hope you can TTC soon!! Good luck!
Kel - Dylan wakes up for a drink as well...I really think most of it is just waking up and getting in the habit of us being there...we're thinking of getting rid of his dummy soon so hopefully that may ease the problem a bit...we just need to get the willpower together to do it! LOL!
LOL - My mum also says "I've paid my dues" wtf? Was it that awful raising kids??? I can't wait to be able to tell my kids when they're older that it was the time of my life! I so look forward to doing so many exciting things with them and letting them experience as much as I possibly can! Kids are born with a thirst for knowledge and it's up to us to keep that going in them...you see so many young kids without any drive or interest and I think it's really sad! Kids are meant to be full of energy and excitement, it just gets knocked out of them over the years...Sometimes I think us parents expect too much of them - expect them to be little adults when they're not and it just causes frustration...
Anyway...enough of my rant! LOL!! I find I have so much to learn about raising kids - I want to do it the best way I can - I'm forever reading magazines/books about it all - but most of it comes down to changing my patterns from what I grew up with!! Sometimes not as easy as it seems!!
