    New to Belly Belly

    Hi All

After a lot of persistent nagging my wonderful husband has won - I joined a forum. Not only am I new to Belly Belly, but I an new to using forums, so be patient with me.

I am a first time Mum and DD is 11th November. I've promised I'll give birth at 11am but I may not comply with the minute silence

I am planning on having a natural birth at the Mercy FBC in Heidelberg and I am working on my birth plan at the moment. What to put in, what to stand my ground on, it's so easy to make these decisions now but I suppose that is what the idea behind a birth plan - write it when I'm rational.

I look forward to getting to know my fellow Belly Buddies over the next few weeks. I have found a great replacement for me at work and I plan to take a step back so I can enjoy and look forward to my new life.

    Cheers
    Patricia

    Hi Patricia,

Welcome to BB (BellyBelly). There are many first time Mums on this site, and I had also never joined a forum until I started trying to conceive, but I can't tell you how invaluable this forum has been. I have made some fantastic friends here and know that I have a very supportive network. The information/advice from many different people has meant that I have been very well informed throughout my pregnancy and now with the arrival of my son.

Now, without wanting to kick you out of here, we are a baby buddies group in this thread, meaning that we all had or were due between 1st and 15th August this year. We all started out in Belly Buddies threads which you can find under pregnancy. You will find one for babies due between November 1st and 15th here. It can be very confusing finding certain threads until you get used to the site, but if you get lost you will find everyone on here is very friendly and will be more than willing to point you in the right direction.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and the birth and I look forward to hearing all about the birth in the birth stories/announcements threads.

    Good morning everyone!

I'm still finding it hard to believe that I am up at 6am every morning and how much I get done before 9am! I guess you do what you gotta do!

Veygas went down at around 5.30-6pm last night and slept through to 2.30am!! My boobs were sooooooooooo full and sore, but it felt great having all that sleep, especially since other kiddies have been sick on and off over the last week and I haven't been getting good sleep! Unfortunately, my kidlets all have early-ish bedtimes (like 6.30pm, 7pm at the latest) which means that Veygas is the first to be bathed and fed and put to bed. It's gonna be hard with daylight savings starting this weekend though!

Veygas is also sleeping a bit better during the day which means I get more done, like rebuilding my website, but I think I need to start wearing my glasses at the computer again, cause my eyes and my head just aren't used to it anymore!

Big HI to all the mums and bubs and Bear!!

What if i am harming him trying to only breast feed am i? I could be doing more harm than good.I am beyond shatterered!

Can u all tell me at what age did you bubs reach 1 kilo over birth weight?

Squidipa Jett has only just hit that 1kg over mark now at 8 weeks. If Josh seems relatively happy, and he isn't losing weight, don't let it get to you because that will affect your supply. You are doing a fantastic job, and doing the best you can so please don't lose heart. You have to look at the big picture, what does he usually gain each week? And if you are worried about your supply I'm sure Vic can help you with a few ideas to boost it.... aktavite springs to mind!

    aktavite springs to mind!
Sustagen also used to make a "mum's" supplement - don't know if they still do though I drank it when bf-ing DS1. I'm still taking preg & bf-ing vitamins, and if veygas goes for more than 3 hours without a feed now, my boobs start to leak!

Squidipa Josh is putting on weight and that's what is important. You are doing a brilliant job, and when you start doubting yourself, jump on here for all the encouragement in the world!!
All babies are different and grow at different rates. DS1 hit the 1kg over BW at around 3 weeks (BUT he was a big baby). DD hit it at about 8 weeks, DS2 at about 7 weeks and Veygas hit it at about 5 weeks, but lost weight again because of the hernia and the surgery and is now only just over the weight he was pre-op (3 weeks ago). Hun, don't try to compare Josh with other babies, as you can see, even all of mine have been different.

    HAPPY 3 MONTHS NAKITA!!!

Squidipa, Aktavite is a bit like Milo, you find it right next to it in the supermarket - it is Australian owned and made, I have 1 litre of milk to a cup of Aktavite, apparently you can also add 1 cup of skim milk powder to it but I think it would make it way to sweet for me. I mix up 1/2 a cup (add a little hot water to it to melt it), then 500ml of milk, have a batch in the morning and afternoon. I use my Tupperware shaker as I drink it over a period of time and it can get very chocolatey at the bottom!! I was recommended by the Nursing Mothers Association!

You can also try Brewers Yeast, Blessed Thistle, Fenugreek...

The weight gain will never be consistent, always up and down, what you need to look at is the average over a whole month. My situation was different Nakita's gains we were decreasing for 4-5 weeks, no big gains, so clearly a problem, where you have bigger and smaller weeks, which is normal.

You are doing a great job

Squidipa - try not to let it get to you. I'm sure it would be evident if Josh was suffering. Miss M only just got the kilo mark at 8 weeks....and she is formula fed!!! Try to chill and not think about it honey.

Vic - happy 3 months to your gorgeous Miss N...

MM - I'm up at 6am too - you should give me a call ...lol

Pixie chick - yay for sleep through!!

Patricia - welcome to BB - congrats and good luck for the rest of your pregnancy.

Went to park this morning - had an ok time posted in boohoo forum about it if anyone is interested.

DS is all worn out - still napping - DD is in my arms napping. gotta go see if i can put her down so i can go to the toilet by myself without a toddler handing me toilet paper or posting it between my legs!!!!

Oh and we have keenan back at home now - has to be kept away from our other dog though - too much excitement gets the tick poison near their heart and thats not good!!! he still can't walk (so is peeing everywhere poor bugger) but he is drinking water so thats the main thing...

    gotta go peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Squidpea ~ Please don't think you are doing something wrong by breastfeeding your baby! If he wasn't thriving, he would let you know! My friend has a 10month old and she is exclusively BF and her daughter only just now weighs 6.7kg.
Seven was 1.5kg above her birth weight at 4 weeks, but, in saying that, she was a small baby and they tend to try and make up for what they didn't get in utero, and, every baby is different. As long as your little one is happy and is putting on weight, who cares how much it is or isn't?
I hope all these lovely ladies have eased your worrying if only for a little while!

    Chin up!!!

when u say 1 cp are you meaning 3 teaspoons heaps makes a cup as it says on the packaging or 1 full measured cup of the Aktavite powder to 1 litre of milk mixed???
