    Hi girls
YAY i finely worked out how to put a photo on my ticker
its very hard sharing my son especialy when all my son wants to do is play video games and thats all his dad ever does so he has come home with square eyes and a hunger for vegies... my son is a little strange he doesnt like junk food (unfortunatly because sometimes its soo easy) so today i have sent him into the sunshine to make up for spending the last 12 days inside
Lucy has been fantastic for the last few days except when she sleeps during the day she wont sleep in her bassinett she only sleeps on our bed or in her bouncy rocker thingy not that im complaining because at least shes sleeping but i was just thinking it might be a bad habit forming?
oh and we got out for our walk yesterday and it was great i have to go more often ive joined weight watchers an put on 100gms this weeks whoops oh well
hope everyones day is going well

Tasha , habits froming in a newborn is the last thing you should stress your self out with .. dont worry where she sleeps for now , as long as she gets her important sleep , if a newborn does not sleep well it can hinder their development and growth , also making them super crabby ..

So if lucy wants to sleep next to the dog food bowl on a bed of newspaper then let her .. I had a CHN tell me not to let nixon sleep in the Papsan swing and to put him in his cradle for naps .. pfft as if that would happen , he would wake as soon as i put him on the hard cold matteress and i would have to feed/settle him all over again ... eventually I gained the confidence in myself to leave him in the swing and let him sleep .. he would sleep up to 4-5 hrs in it , while i got my rest ...
you will find that you and Lucy will thirve off the rest you are both needing , if you stop stressing about her sleeping
Now the moment Gab is having a rough time getting off to sleep , i pop her in the papasan and let it swing her to sleep and i leave it swinging untill she wakes up herself .. its bliss .. i know now that she is getting rest and im not stressing about getting her to sleep in a bassinette ... so we are all happy ... Habits will not form unless you let them , but she is only 6wks and forcing her to sleep somewhere she doesnt , would be stressful to me too !! , but be kind on your self ... she will eventually out grow the bouncer and seek a bigger place , and that will most likely be the cot but let her set the scene ... it will let you get a cuppa in !!!

also nixon doenst eat much junk food either .. he love fruit .. not so much veges but fruit ... his favourites are strawberries ( commonly known as "cook cooks" in this house) and cherry tomatoes .. he asks for "matos" at breakfast .. but we dont really eat alot of junk so its good to see nix on the same path ....

how is every one else going ???

ok i offically made the decision : NO MORE LEFT BOOBY .. thats it ive had it .. im over it .. im in pain her attachment is painful , the nipple stings the boobs throbs ,, its painful to touch and its gone a funny shape ...

i dread the left feed to the point where i try to distract her ... i also dread expressing that side too ... BUT it makes the most milk ..... sigh ... its making me so depressed .. i need breastfeeding counselling , to talk about my feeling not just "whats wrong with the boob and how the baby is doing"

yes its gabs food , but im making it and its attached to me ... why does it seem that ppl only want to know about the baby , not the mums feelings ???

aarrrgh so depressed about this all .. i am over it .. perhaps bf isnt for me ... i thought it was this time .. i thought i could do it .. its so important to me .. and gabriella wont take a bottle .. let alone forumla that smells like whiskars cat milk ......

    good morning
lea- thanks for the advice our CHN is about 60 and i dont think she has even had children so i find it very hard to take her advice so its nice to talk with people who have lived it not just observed it
I too was so sure i would be able to bf Lucy but i only lasted 1 week!you've done well to get this far. i felt like the biggest faliure in the world but 1 solid week of bawling my eyes out was enough for me...mabye next time
ive put lucy back on normal formula the AR formula was still bunging her up but she seems to be ok now only spewing if she hasnt burped or if ive just had a shower but at least she can poo now.
hope everyone has a good day

Lea - so sorry to hear that you are having b/f problems ... i hope that you can sort something out that works for you and you feel comfortable with. Is there any way you can comp feed Gab like b/f during the day and bottle at night ? I give Ali night bottle and use the tommee tippee ones that are shaped exactly like a nipple so she doesnt get too confsused ... then again thats hard if she wont take a bottle ... I hope that you can find someone to help and that actually listens to you and not just focussing on the boobs ... i agree that sometimes they are too focussed on boobs and forget that they are attached to mums and we have feelings .... But I think you have done amazingly to keep persisting to this point - it is not the easiest thing in the world and you should be applauding yourself for coming so far hun ... and achieveing so much by b/f Gab ..

Tasha - I agree with Lea about setting things too strict .. I am lucky in that Ali sleeps anywhere but when I stick to cot sleeps during the day she happily goes off to sleep and knows it is sleep time but that has only been the past 2-3 weeks before that I pretty much let her sleep wherever so I could get peace and she could have a rest even if only for 40 mins or so at a time .. now though I am more focused on the cot sleeps and bassinette at night and dont let her sleep in the lounge room only because she is so alert and more distracted ... just go with your own instinct ...

My folks are back from Tassie today so are coming over for dinner tonight and my brother is up from Melbourne and staying the weekend with us so we have visitors and my birthday lunch tomorrow so happy to have a bit of an indulgent weekend .... YAY !!!!

Hope everyone is having a good day

    Hi girls,

Lea- Yes i thought i should update C's pic. I couldnt get onto the site for the other one i had so its this ticker for now, though i think its nicer with having the bigger picture. I have lots of pics of her on my facebook, do you have FB? I dont think i have you on my friends list. The BIGGEST of hugs to you hun about BF You make whatever decision you think is right for you. You sound like how i feel. So up and down about it, you think you have it working then it seems like you dont, some days its good, other days it hurts. I feel guilty because i dont have the time to exclusively breastfeed her (or the supply and thats why it takes ages) it takes me hours to feed her. My chn suggested i exclusively bf her last week and i was like "how?", she said just keep feeding her nonstop to build up your supply. Ok and in the meantime im meant to look after my kids how? Can you go to the dr about your bb Lea? Maybe they can have an idea as to whats going on with that bb. Just keep talking to people hun and try to work it out so that you are happy.

Tasha- Lucy is gorgeous!! I had Chardonnay on the AR formula too and i found it bunged her up a bit as well. It wasnt helping her so we changed her to soy formula now. Im not sure if its working for her or not yet, but she had bad skin on her face and head, the redness has settled since being on the soy. Its still rough but not as red.

I seem to have this burst of motivation and energy. I dont know where it came from Thursday i dropped the kids off at daycare and took C shopping. We got 190 pics from her birth till now printed out, bought some things, laybyed some toys for the kids for christmas AND went food shopping. Friday i got up and sorted out my bedroom, i have 4 big bags of clothes to take to the salvo's and am about to do the linen cupboard and the kids clothes. I seem to be nesting again, only now i can bend over easily and it doesnt take all my effort to get up off the floor again once i get down there

    Have a good weekend

have a fabbo weekend Milly , and i hope evie behaves ..

we went shopping yesterday to get all the outfits for the naming day party ... i ended up buying my sister and nixon a pair of shoes ... thats , it nothing for the kids or me ... so now its a rush today and tomorrow to get it all done .so during the week i can plan everything and hopefully the day runs smoothly ..

I have chosen that me and scott and Rhiannon and andrew ( the god parents) will be in some form of white/purple/black as Gabs dress is either going to be green or purple and nixon will have a black shirt with purple tie .... i found my sister a nice dress .. so now its just picky ol me who has to get one ..
i looked on foxtel weather channel and it says its raining on the sunday ... i really hope it doesnt .

kristi , i seem to be losing my energy .. i am soo tired these days , dh says its because i didnt rest when i had mastitis a week or so ago .. and that im stressed about the party and look after the kids on my own too much ... wich is totally true .. but he hasnt provided much of a helping hand so what am i to do ... tomorrow if i need to go out , both kids are getting dumped on dh , see how he feels .. its bathurst tomorrow and i know he will be a bit cranky about it , but hey ... i miss out on sooooo much so why cant he , he will just sit in front of the tv , let nix run feral and put gab in the papasan , so its not like he is really looking after them

On monday i will talk to my doc about B/F but i dont think he will do much .. half the time i cant understand him , so i end up leaving with out really telling him whats wrong ...

Tasha, gab screamed for about 2 seconds till she got over the shock .. has she got a dummy ?? i stuck her on the boob and she forgot about the pain quicksmart , so you can offer he a dummy to suck on to take he mind off the pain .... i have not had a problem at all with her ears .. i was a bit nervous before it got it done .. but i feel its easier for them now then later as they might accidentally pull on them ... its OK , you wont feel bad for long when you see how pretty she is with her earings

Melsta, i am trying so hard to comp, last night i didnt use a tomme tippee bottle ,i just used a normal long skinny teat and she screamed for about 10mins before i tried a latex NUK wide neck teat , she screamed for a further 10mins before my mum handed her back to me and i had to feed her ... then she used me as a pacifier until about 10pm , when she finally fell into a deep sleep ...

    iam buggered ....

Ali gets her injections tomorrow not looking forward to them at all and since my mum is away my aunt is going to come with me for moral support and then she will stay with us and have dinner esp until DH gets home from work ....

Ali got the milk pimples as well and in the heat they flare up even worse than normal .. they have started clearing on her cheeks but are now spreading to the back of her ears etc .. I took her to the dr about them as well and he said they are normal and it can last until she is 12 weeks old but not to do anything to them .... so we have left them and they are s l o w l y clearing up ....

I read somewhere today that chocolate can give babies wind and whenever I eat it I think it affects Ali so my days of enjoying some chocolate are well and truly over I think .... bummer .... but worth it for her to be wind free .... has anyone else know what triggers affect the wind in bubs?
    Mel
Mel - For the milk pimples they clinic nurse told me to rub olive oil on her to help with the dryness and also it exfoliates the dead skin off. Works a treat!!
Yes Chloe is affected by what i eat. Prime example last night which resulted in 4 hours of screaming followed by an explosion in her nappy!! Happened a few times now. Not sure what caused yesterdays' but the one before was the result of Chicken Stir Fry.

Oooh, meant to ask, are any of you sydney girls coming to the meet up tomorrow??
Didn't know there was a Sydney meet!

I'd love to get Chloe's ears pierced but too scared for her!!!

Which Tomme bottles did you try? The Closer to Nature ones?? That is what Chloe uses and she doesn't seem to suck well on the avent or other bottles now so I've stuck with the CTN ones as they are like a nipple and nice and wide. I've stopped direct BF'ing and am now just expressing, giving Chloe the EBM first and then top up with formula. You could try some different bottles to see which she prefers but I'm sure if you persist she will get the hang of it. If she doesn't like the formula then maybe again try a different brand. Alot of the formulas you can now buy a popper size or sticks of formula which are 1 serving size so that might be easier to trial them first. Maybe start her off on BB so she gets some initial fullfillment and isn't screaming and in desperate immediate need for food, then offer her some EBM in bottle, and try changing bottle each time to see which one she likes. Can you borrow some different bottles from friends so it doesn't cost you a fortune to find one she likes?

Mel - HAPPY BIRTHDAY.. Glad you had a lovely time. I LOVE Swarovski. I have alot of the crystals... We were planning to go to Ribs N Rump in the next few weeks as our fancy night out.

US I'm no longer directly breastfeeding Chloe. The frustration got too much with her not attaching and my LC told me I'd effectively have to teach her from the start again how to attach. Considering I never had to do this when she was born as she just attached without issue it would be a stressful thing I'd say and so after thinking about it I'm going to stick with expressing and giving her EBM and a FF top up. It's been almost a week since she has actually fed from me but I'm taking motillium and fenugreek and my milk is still ok so will just keep doing this until my milk gives out. I was worried about her weight so on Friday I took her to the clinic. She put on 400g in 10 Days!!! Clinic nurse was very happy with it. So she is almost 8 weeks now and is 3.8kg.

We are now working on sleep patterns and I'm getting her to self settle which has some successes and then some failures but she is learning. I am finding I really am getting to know her cries and can tell hubby what each means.

Today I went shopping for xmas pressies and took advantage of the target toy sale. Got her a few things and so did mum so that was good as I got a head start on it.

Tomorrow will be home to do work so that should be a little mundane but has to be done. This week I have to take Chloe for her needles which I'm not looking forward to. Going to try for Wednesday as my GP doesn't work Thursday and then I'll leave Thurs/Fri with nothing planned in case she has a reaction. My OB suggested I get my rubella boosted as I was borderline immune but don't fancy being jabbed at the moment so maybe I'll wait till we maybe think of #2 which for me is not on the horizon for quite awhile..

    Anyway chat soon.

    Hi All,
    Thought i'd join this thread...

Our DD Jorja was born 20th August 08
    5.54am
    8pd 8 ounces
    52 cms long

BF went really well from day one apart from the pain in my ribs where my DD bruised me... LOL
Shes always slept really well (between 2 and 4 hours) and is now just starting to sleep a full 8 hours YAY.
I had a horrible labour... 18 hours after and induction and syntocin, she just didn't want to come out and had to be suctioned...poor thing had 2 lumps on her head as the suction cap came off the first time, had a 2nd degree tear that seemed to take FOREVER to heal!! I lost heaps of blood and had the shakes for 2 days afterwards.

But hey...after all the horrible things that happened right from the begining - 5 months of morning sickness to start with... i am sooo looking forward to the next one

    Hi ladies,

Wow, you guys have been busy! Took me a while to catch up!

I love everyones new ticker pics, your bubs are all gorgeous

jjj, welcome! I hear you on horrible induced labours, I had one with my DD too. Thankfully this time I had a great, fully natural birth, it made such a difference for me!

Kristi, I hope your motivation has lasted. I seem to have found some energy lately too, I have done 3 loads of washing, folded and packed it away, mopped, vacuumed, washed up, changed my bed and the kids cot/cradle and cleaned the shower!! Even though I am still living off 3-4hrs sleep a night!

Lea, sorry to hear bf'ing isn't going so well. Can you go and see another LC? Or maybe go the hospital you had her in and see the midwives? There must be something you can do!

Tasha, I had my DH take DD to have her ears peirced too, LOL! I'm too much of a sooky pants, hehe!!

Mel, happy birthday for the other day, sounds like you had a lovely time .Lots of us are 30 in our group!

Belinda, yep, we had a meet up the other day. Only 3 people went (me included), but it was nice to meet new people. There is a thread in the meet ups section about it. We have regular monthly meet ups on different days at different places around sydney. Where are you from?
Gosh can't believe it's time for needles already!! Our babies are growing too quickly already!

As for us, well we are still struggling with sleeping. DH has had night shift the past few nights and last night he went out and stayed at his friends place for the night. Of course those are the nights the kids play up...the other night I went to bed at 10.30 but didn't manage to actually get to sleep til 3am, then Lil was awake at 5am. 2 hrs sleep....about 6 in 48hrs. I am soooo tired, but I think I'm getting insomnia cause when I try to go to sleep for a nap, my mind won't stop and I just can't sleep, thinking that one of the kids will wake soon anyway, so why bother?
Liam has been pretty good these past few days, except last night, he was really unsettled for hours, just screaming. I'm pretty sure he had wind cause he was farting like no tomorrow through the night! He's getting really big and is definately out of 000's now. He's smiling all the time and is trying very hard to chat, it's so cute to watch.
Ok gotta go, hope everyone is well and had a great weekend!

Kell - aww look at the pic of the two of them they are so cute !!! Not good about the sleeping you will crash and burn soon with that amount of sleep in 48 hours ... hope you managed some sleep last night ... might have to look into the thread on catch ups as I didnt know it was on either ...

Belinda - good to hear Chloe has gained weight and it sounds like things are going better for you ... nice effort on the xmas shopping always have to take advantage of sales when we can these days .. what did you end up buying her? We are doing self settling with Ali as well and are going great guns - persistence is the key really and she is in her room at night now too which is different but needed ..

jjj - welcome and your little one is simply gorgeous ... good to see you are already looking forward to the next one - same here I cannot wait and am going to try the "boy diet" my SIL has that apaprently everyone who has done it got a boy ?!?!? Whether it is true or not not sure but worth a shot !

We are going well ... Ali slept in her cot last night so I am moving her out of our room now and she is so good at self settling during the day time for night sleeps in there now too ... she seems to have grown so much the past week and when her shots were done our Dr told us she had grown 5cm in 2 weeks - massive growth spurt !!!

Just working today then maybe going for a walk later on ...... nice day here need to take advantage of the weather and keep on track with my exercise regime !!!

    xo

    hello everyone
hope youz all had a great weekend, ours was very busy...that was good for a change but so unsettling for lucy.
you wouldnt belive my saturday nite...our darling baby decided to sleep from 9pm till 4.30am!!! which is fantastic except i couldnt enjoy it because at 1am my friend turned up on our doorstep after having a massive fight with her husband, the poor luv she so desperatly wants a baby but they have to have ivf and its putting such a strain on their relationship i was happy to be her shoulder to cry on because shes been there for me plenty of times and im glad lucy had a great sleep
daddy was very brave on saturday, took lucy to get her ears done i went in an picked the studs then ran as fast as i could out of the hairdressers and into the nearest shop that sold teddies and bought her the biggest one i could find apparently she let out a little squeal but by the time dh had left the hairdressers she was sound asleep and they havent bothered her since and omg she looks soooo cute
kel, hope you got some sleep last nite, i cant nap during the day either i worry about what else i should be doing while dd sleeps so i end up just laying there.
belinda, yay for the weight gain and good luck with the self settling.
mel, belated happy birthday sounds like you had a great time, i have to wait till the last day of the year for my birthday but we will be in tassie for a holiday so im very excited.
kristi, hows chardonnays skin going? hope its getting better is she still on the soy formula? dont you reakon it stinks?
lea, hope things are getting better with gabs feeding
jjj, hello and welcome you'll love it here
    bye for now
