    Hey everyone

Can't believe that my little girl is 2 months old. We went to the Drs on Monday to get her vax but as she has a nasty cough at the moment he didn't want to vaccinate her. We'll go back in a couple of weeks when she is a little better. In the meantimeI got the whopping cough booster. Has anyone else had it?

Cass - I hear ya! DH is the same, anytime Immi is unsettled its she needs food.
tk - glad that you found something for C's nappy rash. We have always used sudocreme and its always cleared really quickly. I've never used cloth nappies but I've been told that some people use cloth during the day and disposables at night. Good news about C's ultrasound.
Misty - your DH sounds like mine. We have so many remote controls for all the entertainment equipment. DH is now talking about upgrading our Foxtel box to an IQ. Oh well, its his hobby. Sorry about your FIL.
Megan - yay for you exercising. I really should do something.
Cheezel - how'd the scan go?
    Hello to everyone else.

Does anyone else have a baby that doesn't sleep much during the day? Immi doesn't have any long sleeps during the day, maybe half an hour or so in the swing or the carrier, tho she did sleep on my chest today for a couple of hours. Over the last few nights she has been going to bed for the night at 11pm. We are then up at around 3am for around 90mins. We are then up between 6.30 - 7am.

I have been trying to catch her tired signs but she doesn't seem to do many. Anyway, we have put her down (9pm) so we'll see how long she sleeps for.

Probably should go to bed myself. Night all!

    Hi girls,

OMG I am so bad at personals lately!!
Peter's hips are fine - has another check at 6 months. He was weighed today, is now 5.8kgs so doing well there. Think he'll be tall like his dad as he's already grown 5cms since birth!! Is that normal??
Geez this is the latest I've stayed up for a long time. My sister is in labour & I'm waiting for news. Plus Peter has decided he doesn't want to sleep tonight & is laying in his basinette talking to himself lol. I really can't be bothered resettling him AGAIN...but I will. Picture me trudging up the hallway

Hi all, thought I'd pop in and say hello. I know I don't post often but I do pop in and keep up with how everyone is going, I just don't have time to sit and do personals so feel a bit slack for posting at all!

Saffi - Sorry to hear you're having issues with Immi sleeping, there is nothing worse! DS2 is a breeze compared to DS1 at this age so we're doing OK. He generally does one big sleep of about 3 hours in the middle of the day which is his best sleep. His morning sleep can be a bit hit and miss, anything from 1.5-2 hours (but often he needs to be resettled and if he's not back asleep at the 1.5 hour mark I get him up). His afternoon sleep was horrid, I was lucky to get an hour out of him but that seems to be improving. Because he doesn't sleep long in the late afternoon, I give him a bath around 5pm and he's in bed for the night by about 6pm. Not ideal but seems to be working for us for the moment. He then wakes any time between 11pm-1am and then again at about 3-5am. We are then up for the day at about 7-8am. His night fees are very quick, he sleeps and feeds in our room so I'm only usually up feeding him for around 15 mins (20 if he needs a nappy change etc).

If you can't pick Immi's tired signs, I'd start going by the clock. At this age babies can usually only handle an hour of awake time. So if you're not seeing tired signs at the one hour mark, I'd wrap her and put her down anyway. Most advice says that they shouldn't be awake for any more than 1.5 hours max, but we all know sometimes babies don't follow the rules! I hope things improve.

Pimples - ours got SOOOOOO bad that his skin started to get all red, inflamed and extremely dry. We took him for his vax about a week ago and the GP ended up giving us a mild cortisone cream for his face. Thankfully it has almost totally healed now. He does still have a tinge of redness and a few spots on his cheeks but nothing compared to what it was. I wanted to avoid cortisone but I was getting concerned about scarring - my niece has scars from her milk pimples as a baby.

We've had some not so great news from our u/sounds though . His hip looks OK at this stage but his head u/sound wasn't great. He appears to have extra fluid around his brain and they also saw a cyst His paed assures us that the cyst is a very common thing in babies and there's nothing we need to do about that. The fluid is a bit more of a worry and we need to monitor his head growth. We have an appt at the Children's Hospital in a few weeks to repeat the scans. Praying SOOOO hard that things have improved.

He is feeding well and sleeping reasonably well most of the time. He is self settling 95% of the time but needs to be resettled during the day sometimes which does my head in a bit! LOL.

He is HUGE and last time we had him weighed was about 3 weeks ago - he was already 6.5kg!! I have no idea how long he is now but he seems quite long to me too. He looks like a 3 month old! We're still in our 000s though, probably not for much longer!

The issues we were having with reflux seem to have settled so we think it was caused by the medication he was on (abs for an infection). I really feel for those of you dealing with reflux, it was soooo hard that week or so that we had it so I admire you all for doing such a great job!

Better go, he needs to go back to bed now. Hope all are well...

    Ok self indulgent post

I was feeling all pumped because I weighed in tonight and lost 1.7kg (over two weeks), so YaY!

I have just put Baz to sleep so should probably go to bed myself - I probably won't be so precious after I get some rest.

Edited: Feel much better this morning, so thought I should delete my winge

    Good Morning Everyone

I came on here about a week ago (time flies huh!! ??) and was really proud of myself writing my best contribution to the group with personals and it disappeared! I got a bit cranky as you all know how much of an effort it is to be able to do that. So here goes another attempt. Although DD is due to wake anytime.

Misty: Great work on the weight gain! Sorry to hear about FIL. Thinking of you and your family. LOL re: set top box! 00 clothes, I have quite a few nice 00 outfits for DD that I can't wait for her to wear, but still in 0000 even some 00000.

Willow: Sorry to hear that DS is having a few hurdles at the moment. I can only imagine how worried you would be. But fingers crossed the next U/S shows some good news

Chezel Monster: Fantastic news about Peter's hips. As for the growth. Miss Z has grew 8cm in her first 8 wks. So I hope it is normal How did your sister go with the labour?

Saffi: Not good to hear about Immi's cough. Myself and DH both had the booster shot. Miss Z hardly sleeps at all through the day usually either. A few 20min cat naps is about it.

TK: Have you been to the GP about Caitlin's hernia? I have heard that bepanthen cream is good but obviously even better. Will have to keep it in mind, we've got some from DH getting his tattoo's. We use Paw Paw cream and it seems to work well for Miss Z. Good work on the Cloth, i've been thinking about getting a few and using them through the day and sposies at night. How was Caitlin's weigh in? Miss Z is still in 0000 and even some 00000. She only has a couple of cute outfits but I don't want to buy any more because I keep hoping she'll get to the 000/00 outfits I have for her soon. Someone told me I should cherish having a small baby because it feels like a newborn for longer. Positive way of looking at it I guess.

Cass_Blob: Hope you manage to get some "me" time soon. I'm probably having a brain fart but have you tried using a sling or carrier for Elouise to help you do some things with 2 hands?

Megan H: WTG with the Gym! I hear you on the grunting. It's like we've brought home a zoo of animals with Miss Z, her grunting and farting is amazing. Quite orchastral hahaa

Koru: How did you go with the vaccine research?

Larne: How did you go with Chloe's weight gain. Good to hear the meds seem to be working.

AFU: I took DD off her meds for 36hrs the other day to see how she went, I feel really mean but I just needed to know that it wasn't a passing phase that I'd hoped for. Yep they work and we're back on them. How do you other ladies give bubbas their meds? We have medicine form that we got in perth but won't be able to do that going forward.

Much like Koru and Cheezel Monster I'm frustrated with DH roster. He leaves for work at 5 and gets home at 630 he works 3 days followed by 3 nights which pretty much leaves me a single mum for 7 days straight. DD had her 8 week weigh in and was 4.2kg and 56cm long. You might have read my thread on Plagicephaly (flat spot) and the health nurses response that I wasn't happy with. Her forehead is starting to be affected and so going to take her to the GP but also trying to find a Paediatric Osteopath in Perth. I've heard that they have a lot of sucess with reflux also so would be worth the expense of getting to Perth to try. I went to a mothers group for new mums at a ladies house on Monday and it was really nice. I wen to the public Tiny Tots yesterday and it wasn't as good but worth keeping in mind if I want to get out of the house.

Had a fight with DH last night that left me feeling really quite deflated. DD has been really good the last couple of days and so he suddenly thinks that is what life is like all the time. He was really quite nasty and I couldn't believe it. He said "your mum did it with 3 kids and you can't even handle 1". Apparently there is no excuse not to have the house immaculate and dinner on the table for him. My "me" time is when he is at work - figure that out! Anyway he thinks I'm lazy cos all I have to do is feed Miss Z and wash her clothes. Now that I don't work full time he shouldn't have to help around the house as he works and needs his 6 days off for him. He is not comprehending financial changes either and continuing to spend selfishly including the $6000 bike he got and now that is a never ending pit requiring money. So our savings are going quickly and I can't bare the thought of putting Miss Z in childcare here especially after the stories I heard the other day from someone who worked there when they first got to town.

Anyway - Can't believe I got that off my chest to you girls, just wondering how you keep your house in order and have dinner ready cos I seem to be failing miserably some days.

Hope you're all well and enjoying the watching your babies grow up into little people xx

Ellee - Huggs. Your DH needs a reality check. My DH Works 9-6pm each weekday, but he still comes home from work and cooks dinner for the family and do the clothes washing and feeds the animals and kitty litter. (plus a whole lot more!) Now i know my DH is ALOT better then most, he really is great. BUT the expectations your DH has are just not realistic! Sorry I don't have a whole lot of practical advice to offer, I'm not really sure how you can 'fix' this - I have a very assertive (sometimes agressive) personality type and simply wouldn't tolerate that kind of attitude, but that doesn't help you in anyway. I hope someone else can offer you some good advice. Do a search of BB I know I have seen other threads around with similar problems, and one of those may contain some good advice.

Willow - It is great you are able to get your bubs to self-settle. If I am lucky I 'might' be able to put DS2 down in his bed IF I have already gotten him to sleep and held him for at least 20mins. More often he just sleeps being cuddled by me during the day or sleeping in bed with me at night. Probably not the best solution, but I am getting really good at doing everything one handed and I am lucky my DD is a good 'helper'. Unfortunately it can cause problems with DS1 - Like right now I have to get up and put him in bed because he is pulling DD hair.

Hi everyone, i have been reading all your posts but slack as usual at posting!

DS2 had his shots the other day, poor little thing, they made him quite drowsy for the following two days, which was not all bad! He has put on 1.6 kg in the last two weeks and now weighs 5.7 kgs. He was only a small baby at birth so I'm happy with the rate he's putting on weight, at least I know he's feeding ok. i've fully recovered from my bout of mastitis, thank goodness, but do get a bit anxious if my boob hurts slightly, that it will come back!

Misty- I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL.On a positive note, Way To Go with your weight loss, i sure need need to get off my butt and do some excercise thats for sure, especially as beach season approaches and i have to put on a bathing suit...Eeeew!

Willow- Sorry to hear about your DS2 ultrasound results, at least the paed says there is nothing to worry.i know its hard not to worry though when there something wrong with your child .Sounds like a brilliant baby though, settling and sleeping well!!

Saffi- I too have a baby that does not sleep during the day!! The upside is he does sleep well at night! I'll put him down between 8 -9.30 of an evening and will usually sleep for 7 hours straight. Have a quick feed and sleep for another 4 hours give or take. I can't complain too much. At least he is not too upset about being awake during the day, usually only around dinner time of course he starts to hark up. I'm lucky if he has 2 hours sleep (catnaps mostly) throughout the day!

Ellee- House in order??, I don't think so. It's a good day when I've managed to do 1 load of washing, put dinner on the table and bath my older son. We all know how much time looking after a new baby takes up. It sounds like you are doing a great job and your DH needs to be alot more realistic in his expectations. I wouldn't be worrying about whether your house is immaculate, or beating yourself up for not having prepared dinner! Right now, just concentrate on caring for yor baby, but just as importantly , make sure you get some time for YOU, even if it's only half an hour a day.It makes a world of difference to your overall emotional wellbeing. When your DH has time off work, I'd be making sure he is helping you to achieve this. My DH was abit like yours, because he works long hours, he didn't see how hard it could be for me to accomplish something as simple as doing the vaccuming. It's not like we're just kicking back watching soap operas all day long and painting our nails! My DH has been alot more helpful since the arrival of DS2.He certainly knows better now than to ask a sleep starved woman "what have I been doing all day"?

Hi to everyone else i've missed.

Ellee - just wanted to echo what everyone else has said. Its tough for a first time Mum as you are still reconciling your old role as a wife and career girl with that of being a mum. Its different as you add more kids to the family as you have some idea of what you are in for and also has learned whats important and whats not.

You were after some tips. I'm by no means the perfect housewife (my DH does a lot of the housework), but I suggest that you invest in a slow cooker. You can put it on first thing in the morning and by dinner time you have a yummy meal. You can even cut up the veg etc the night before or when you have a spare minute (yeah right).

Anyway have to pick DS up from daycare. I'll be back later for more personals.

Wow, Im having troubles keeping up. This thread has been very busy. Im not very good with personals but I will give it a quick go.

Salboo - EMily has her shota the other day too. It was awful. First time ever for me out of all my kids that I have taken any of them to have it done. DH has always done it. Emily was starving hungry and the woman wouldnt let me feed her to make her happier. Glad the mastitis is all better and well done with the weight gain for DS2, he must be feeding well.

Ellee - Salboo said it perfectly. I dont know what else I could say. When I read her post it made me smile coz she explained it so well. I hardly sit down at all during the day. Im always busy yet I never seem to get anything done. Thats what its like when you have kiddies. As you have more you get the hang of it a bit but still never get what you want done. My DH comes home wondering what Ive done all day and stupidly sometimes he asks. But them I give him a blast and he ends up helping out.

Oh crap, I just noticed the time. I gotta go to bed. Told you Im bad at personals.

Just quickly though, all is good here. Emily is feeding well and sleeping well at night most of the time. I worked by butt off at the gym today and it felt great. I really hope I can stick to it. I have two goals, one obviously to lose weight and the other to jog the full 12km in the 2010 city to bay fun run we have here in Adelaide annually. Its a full 12 months away so I have plenty of time to train. Im hoping to raise money to go towards caesarean awareness.

Anyway, thats me for tonight. Will post again soon.

    Hiya,
I think I take the cake for crap personals! I had a nice little list on friday and was going to write a lovely long post and reply to everyone but alas Miss Milky had other ideas
Willow I hope you are getting some answers and help with your little one - it must be so distressing for you.
Ellee I second what everyone has said about the impression we must give that we've done bu88er-all all day. Maybe your DH needs a whole day/weekend of looking after your DD so gets a better idea of what goes on instead of the happy, clean, fed baby at the end of the day he sees now? (not sure how plausible that is....)
Good onya Megan for setting yourself a personal challenge I used to run the Puffing Billy race here in Melbourne (13k trying to beat a train thru the hills!) and was sad to have to forgo last year's race due to being pregnant. Will have to see if I can get myself in shape for next May.....
Hello and apologies for lack of persies to everyone else...
AFM, the advent of day light savings seemed to wreak havoc on Orla's body clock and we had a week of bad night sleeps (hence me being MIA) but she seems to have readjusted now (fingers crossed!). I had hoped to return to yoga on sunday but we were having such a lovely long sleep in (a rarity!) I was loathe to interupt it - oh well ,next week....
Still deliberating over vaccinations here as we also have to factor in having to pay for deviations from the schedule (omissions are much simpler). Wanting to vax her against whooping cough looks like it will mean giving her a heap of over vax I didn't want to give her at this point but it looks like we'll have to go down that road to prevent WC

    Hi everyone

Misty - WTG on the weight loss.
Megan - I'm in awe of you training for the run.
Koru - I guess one advantage of living in Qld is we don't have daylight savings to disrupt baby's sleep. Still I'd prefer to have it as DS is waking at 5am when the sun comes up.
Willow - thanks for the long post. I am going to try going by time. I have put her down for a sleep now so hoping that it lasts for more than 10 minutes.
    Hello to everyone else.

AFU - things are ticking along. I wasn't able to get Immi vaccinated last week cos the Dr wouldn't do it with her cough. I'll go back next week when she is hopefully better. I had the WC vax and my arm hurt for a few days afterwards so I can only imagine how the baby feels after all theirs.

I'm hobling around at the moment as I've hurt my back with lifting of babies and toddlers. I went to the physio this morning and am now all taped up, but able to move a lot easier. The physio wants me to BF standing up or lying down.

Anyway better take advantage of Immi being down and get some things done.

Just saying Hi to everyone! Not much to report, Max is sleeping pretty well during the night, just wish I was able to fall asleep as quickly as he can! He's getting chubbier and chubbier, he's now in 00 clothes well and truly. He loves to have a chat and laugh. He really is a happy baby.I'm very lucky.

Misty- Hope you're getting some rest, Don't know how you do it with three littlies...Megan as well....hats off to you both!

Koru- Thats funny what you said about Daylight savings, Max has actually slept better and been more settled since daylight savings. He actually goes off to bed happily around 8pm for the night. it could just be coincidence though.

Everyone must be really busy, as it seems a bit quiet in here lately. Hope everyone is well.

Hi everyone - I have been trying to write a big post for you all but my computer is hungry and keeps eating it.

DD was weighed last Thursday and she has broken the 4kg mark... she is now 4.350kg!! She is in 0000 clothes and having more days in cloth nappies. She doesn't really like tummy time but I make sure she has at least a few minutes each day... well until she cracks it and almost screams the house down!

I have been reading and your bubbas are all doing so well... congrats mummas! You are all doing fantastic jobs

Re housework... it has been the topic of many an argument between DP and I. We spent a sunday at home um last week or so (can't remember which sunday it was) and he saw how time consuming our darling DD can be. It was a small insight for him but he still thinks I should be able to juggle it all. I do have half a mind to express a stash of milk and go out for the day (with expresser in hand LOL) and give him the chance to get everything done in the day... but I can't bring myself to do it.

    Hi All,

Thanks for your comments re: my DH expectations! I passed a few of them on and he has been much better.

Sorry for no personals. My Pop passed away this morning so Miss Z and I are flying down to perth and across to Brisbane on our own on Friday eeeiik. I knew it was on the cards, but it doesn't make it any easier. I thought he had bit longer than that and I planned on taking her to meet the grandparents after my sis has her baby in 4 wks. Just wish she had of got to meet and have a photo with him

On a positive my proud Dad gets to finally hold his grand daughter. She was in neo nates and could only look through the window when he flew over to see us for a few days. (I'm a daddy's girl so that means the world to me).

Miss Z has been sooo unsettled. She screamed non stop for a few hours the other day. Was quite distressing by the end of it. Hoping to take her to an osteopath while I'm over in the big smoke

Sorry this post is a bit selfish but just wanted to let you know I'm alive and not sure when I'll get back on here over the next few weeks but look forward to catching up with it all when home again.

    Hope you're all well xx

Happy travels Ellee! Sorry it's for such a sad occasion.
Has anyone else's ticker stalled? I think mine got stuck a few days ago.....our kitchen clock ran out of battery yesterday and my whole day was out of whack - must be something in the stars.....
We've been borrowing a friends baby swing (battery powered with music and dangling toys) which has been a great device for allowing me a trip to the loo/shower without Orla stuck to me in the sling but she tires of it after about 15 mins (so no good for making dinner!) Luckily I didn't rush out and buy her one! Have to return it today tho Has anyone used one of those 'jumping joey' things you hang from the doorframe? I think that'd be more her thing since she LOVES to bounce - how young can they be to use them?????
I think she may be having the 6 week growth spurt at 8 weeks: feeding like a maniac and sleeping all arvo (unfortunately does not extend to sleeping all night!). I was hpoing to reduce my milk oversupply but somehow I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon....

Koru - I have a swing, I love it for DS2, It is a little portable one. I also have a Jolly jumper - haven't used it with DS2 yet - honestly, all of my babies have loved the JJ, but only for 15mins at a time and it is such pain getting them in and out of it, it often isn't worth it - they can usually be used from about three months, but it depends on bubs head control. I think I am going to sell mine - I no longer have a door frame to hang it in, and don't think I would use it enough to justify buying stand for it.
With DS1 I bought an activity center which was much better and easier - It is like a seat which bubs sits in like a walker only stationary. He spent ALOT of time in it, I need to clean it up so DS2 can use it.

Baz had his shots on monday. He is the same length as at six weeks and has only gained 300g since then, which is fine by me (so he is now 6.3kg). I couldn't find ny clean 00 clothes yesterday so I put him in a 0 wondersuit instead and it fit him.

Spent all day yesterday out at a play center with some other mums I have met through BB, it is so good to get out of the house - the weather hasn't been great here, so they are going a bit stir crazy lately.

Chat later, need to look after my kids.
