Hi guys. I've been naughty - reading and not responding. I've had some issues here. Don't worry, nothing to do with the kids, just some 'husband' issues. All centreing around him going out most of the day and night (that was fine), getting slaughtered (not so fine), throwing up in the basin in the bathroom (REALLY not fine), leaving it for me to clean up (getting ANGRY now), sleeping for 12 hours (when do I get to sleep more than 4 hours in one go!?!?!?!) and then napping on the couch/in bed for the next day.

Other than being tired, angry and generally grumpy, we're a ll fine here. Bailey is sleeping well. Taking the days out of it (becasue they don't count), she generally sleeps 7pm until about midnight, then straight back down and another feed at 4-4:30am (however we have had a 5:30am recently). I'm up at about 7am with Ardyn, so anything after that is no hassle.

She is smiling, and it melts my heart.

Nothing new to report here, except oh my, Xavier is sleeping and it's day time. Crazy little man, one grizzle and off to sleep, and he had only been awake about an hour and he slept last night 6.30-2, 3-5.30 5.45-9. Thats just over 13 hours and hes' been asleep for another 30 mins so far!! He never does this. Not complaining, gave me a sleep in (which I needed 'cause I couldn't get back to sleep between 3 and 6am) and now giving me some bb time

Bec - I was just about to ask you wether Xav has been sleeping heaps during the day!!! Colby went to bed at 8.15pm lastnight and slept through till 6.20am. We both went back to bed at about 7am after a feed but she stayed awake till 7.30am. Then she wanted another feed so i fed her and she fell back asleep. Then she woke up at 10.30am and went back to sleep after her feed and is still sleeping now. So yeah i was wondering wether you little man had been sleeping like this too. Might be a growth spurt i think.

Kirst - MEN!!! They are so selfish sometimes are'nt they. I have to admit i am pretty lucky really. Brent likes kids more when he can communicate with them so he is totally loving being with Briley at the moment. So he usually takes care of her all the time while i look after Colby. Mind you he is still male and has his moments!

Sehra - Its great when you manage to get a long unbroken sleep for youself. It really makes you feel refreshed does'nt it! I had one of those the other night was lovely! I even managed to make it out of bed by 7.30am! Whereas i normally need to sleep past 8 to feel human! The pics sound great! You will have to scan them onto the computer and email them around!

Rhiannon - YOU ARE NOT A BAD MOTHER!!!! Leaving them to cry for a while does'nt hurt them. I know exactly how you feel though. Colby does'nt like being in the capsule at all! Nearly everytime i have left mum (who lives 45 mins away from me!) Colby screams the whole way. I consider so many times stopping the car but that will only delay getting home IYKWIM. So i just have to leave her to cry and try and get home as quick as i can. Its probably a lot easier for me to say as Colby is'nt my first. I fretted a lot if Briley cried for too long. You'll adjust soon honey.

Colby loves her baths! I even gave her a shower with me twice yesterday. So that is what i am going to do from now on at nights. I will give her a proper bath in the mornings and then a "settling" shower at night rather than filling up the baby bath. Showers are so much easier. Your probably think! OMG - Are'nt you scared of dropping her? I thought the same thing when the girls in my other Baby Buddies group said that they had been showering with their bubs. That was until i tried it with Briley. She loved it. She loved the warmth of the water but mostly i think it was the combination of the water and being on my chest. Being close to me. Maybe you should give it a go with Jensen and see if he likes it.

Good to hear that Jensen slept through for you!

Shell- Sounds like Lanah is growing wonderfully. Colby is 5.69kg's....i wonder if i should consider changing nappies too. The nappies don't seem to be too small at the moment. Funny thing is, as heavy as Colby is, she is not a very big baby! Must be all mucles and bone!

I'm starting to realise that not many women have heard of it! I have already explained it to a couple of the girls in my Babies Buddies group!

The mirena is a T shaped rod kinda thing that get inserted into the opering of the uterus. It sits there and slowly releases hormones out of this plastic thingy that is also on it. Aparently it is becoming VERY common as it is now cheap enough for ppl to buy. It is only $30.80 whereas before it was $350.00! The best thing about it is you can have unprotected sex straight away and you don't get a period. I was going to get one inserted when i had Briley but they would'nt put one in cause i wanted to try for another baby within 3 years of Briley being born. They said it was more a form of long term contraception. The Dr that put it in this time could'nt believe it when i told her that! She was like "Who are they to tell you how long you can leave it in for?!?! You are paying for it!". So anyways, the way the put it in is they just do a speculum and insert it into your uterus and Walah! Oh and it lasts for 5 years.

Well we are all smiles and "coo's" here today! When we are awake that is! Colby has been asleep for most of the day today. When she was awake thismorning she was laying on her stomach chatting away. It was beautiful to hear. Even though i was half asleep!

As i mentioned to Sehra, i tried Colby is the shower yesterday and she loved it. She just layed their on my chest enjoying the water. I can't remember how old Briley was when i first tried her in the shower and not the bath. I think she was about the same age. She was fine with it too.

I don't think there is much else to report. I think because we are going so long between feeds at nights, i have got my period. I really don't know. I read from the booklet i got for the Mirena that you can spot for up to a month after its put in. But i am bleeding and have been cramping lots like i have my period. I am so confused with my body at the moment. I think it might be too!

Sara, yeah lots of sleeping here today, esp for a little boy that doesn't like to sleep during the day. He woke up before at 3, which is when he feeds normally, so I was feeding him, and he promptly fell asleep. I even think he has hardly fed much at all today. We might be in for a big cluster soon.
I def think it's growth spurt time.
lol: can't believe they keep doing things at the same time.

Xavier has been having showers with daddy for a few weeks now, because daddy was too lazy to get the bath and fill it, lol, He too loves it. I haven't done it yet, but mainly because while I'm the sole feeder I want nathan to do something with him. Plus an extra shower for Nathan really doesn't hurt sometimes Besides I'm the one waiting with a towel most of the time and get the screams when he comes out of the warm.

Still no period here touch wood. Not feeling any cramping or bloating for that matter. Plus I managed to loose weight over the last week, which usually doesn't happen when pre menstral. We still generally have one feed either around 2 or 4am plus I express around 9ish each night.
Does how often you feed really impact on when it comes back? 'cause I could have sworn I've ovulated already.

Feels like I haven't posted in ages. It has been, I guess!

Sorry for no personals this time round. Will return with a more meaningful post! Been hectic week with doing errands that have been put off since Willa was born (such as chasing up MIA claims with MBF they'd rather I forgot all about!).

I haven't got my period yet but am very over the bleeding. This is Week 6 so I'm thinking it should start to lessen? I hope so. Still haven't made my doctor's appt for my check up yet. Sigh.

Willa has a bad night of reflux last night. Full on screaming and refusing to sleep until past midnight. DH played her his favourite Queen albums and then gave her a head massage. Dunno what that has to do with reflux but it worked a treat and she calmed right down. Today she's cranky pants from being tired. House is a complete disaster zone. Funny how everything just falls to the wayside when you're dealing with a screaming bub.

Ali, I'm sure your little girl will be fighting fit in no time at all. I'm astounded by how resilient these little babies are

Great sleep there to Sara. Bugger, i just went to obgyn checkup today & got minipill, i shldve quized him bout the mirena, sounds like a good idea. The minipill works straight away (well after 6hrs) but doesnt stop u getting AF.
I havent tried the shower, i was always too scared with Holly, hehe.

Neuri, u might wanna get an iron BT done to make sure u arent iron deficient if continues too much longer. With Holly, I bled to 7wks then got AF at 8wks & finished by 9wks. Obgyn had said if still going by 10wks then may need D&C, but didnt. When she was 4mths I got an iron test coz was still run down/tired & found to be iron deficient aneamic, so just had to take a 3mths dose of iron tabs to fix it up. Hope it stops for u soon, would be a PIA.

Well Lanah is definitely smiling, no huge ones yet though, got few more smiles today & some pics which I'll update shortly. Oh I said Holly was last to smile in mums group, what I meant was last to giggle, but it doesnt matter as they do things in their own time, I really dont care when they do things but just hang out for the 1st smile & 1st laugh milestones as like u said Kirst, they melt ur heart.
Taking Holly to GP tomorrow to try to get this excema or whatever it is sorted, going to ask for allergy testing to be done, as its got me beat.
Lanah slept from 10:30pm - 6:45am this morning so still sleeping thru thankfully, wakeup time just varies a bit. Holly woke with a nightmare at 3:45am, poor darlin, thats bout the 4th time i know of in last 6mths.

Hey! I thought I'd pop back in. I'm here most days.. I'll explain more after the personals.


Kirst - oh dear with your husband. What ended up happening? Rebecca is right - it's not fair. My husband isn't too bad. However, he can't hear Jensen when he's asleep, and Jensens crying/screaming. Andrew comes home, its dinner time and Andrew holds him and cuddles him (sometimes to sleep) while I eat and then he's in bed, not long followed by us. Then in the morning, Andrew cuddles him for about 10 mins before he heads off to work. So he doesn't get a lot of time with him. So I have to deal with everything.

Shell - Smiles are iminent! Jensen start smiling just before he turned 1mth, but they were small that I wasn't sure. They could have been mistaken for wind, but looked different, iykwim. But his official smiled was 1mth to the day! Only it wasn't me that he smiled at. Its hard to stay mad at them when they smile at you!


Rebecca - Xavier is sleeping thru the day too? Everyone seems to be fairing better with the sleeping. Must feel good to get some time to yourself when he sleeps during the day, and woo hoo a sleep-in. I can only imagine what thats like! We seem to be cluster feeding too, but there's problems... explain shortly.

Sara - I hadn't heard of the mirena either - i thought it was like the thing that they put in your arm... but I was wrong! I've had the suggestions of having a shower with him, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to relinquish his babyness yet by showering him! So far, I've had a bath with him, but he hated that too. His nanna (my mil) bathed him tonight. He cried but then he seemed to like it! What on earth am I doing wrong? Jensen also seems to hate being on his belly, unless of course he's really tired and needs to sleep and then he'll go to sleep on his tummy. He hates to be on his back too. I can't understand - hates being on his back and his tummy, and really really likes to be cuddled up to me like I'm a tree and he's a koala. Not looking forward to having AF back.

Neuri - I was under the impression that your loss could last up to 6wks. My loss has stopped (at around 2 wks) but I seem to have a slight discharge that I can only assume is some sort of loss, but it doesnt look like blood. Go figure. Could quite possibly be my stitches weeping or healing or something. I totally understand the colic thing. It's a nightmare. I will have to try the head massage with him.

Well. Where do I start? There's a lot I'm going to say here... Ok, feeding problems. I think there might be something wrong with my milk. My bb's don't get full like what I hear you girls get. Mine are 18E and look terrible. They don't look or feel like theres any milk in there, and when Jensen tries to feed, he doesn't seem (to me) to be getting anything. The mw in hospital said that when they're feeding properly, you can't hear anything coz they're latched on tight - but you can hear them swallowing. Occasionally, I can hear that. Also, he latches on fully, sometimes it seems like just the nipple, and you can hear drink drink squeek from where it sounds like hes sucking in air as well. He sometimes be hungry, so I try to feed him and he SCREAMS - just wont take that side. So, we try the other side, and he SCREAMS. Just wont feed. Other times he latches and sucks and then makes crying noises while he sucks and then pulls off and screams. Today I had to feed him while he was sitting up. After every day feed he brings up a bit as well. When he does feed during the day with no problems, its only for a few mins. He doesn't feed much during the day and during the day he doesn't really sleep either. He'll have maybe in total an hour of sleep - but like a koala in a tree on me. Move him and thats all over. He can have about 10mins of quiet time where he stares at nothing. If he's not sleeping like that, he's crying. I totally admire those of you with 2 (or more) kids who can keep a house. With Jensen like this, I can barely get anything done. In the morning after Andrew leaves, he naps for long enough for me to do the dishes, maybe put a load of washing on. I end up having to leave him cry to hang out washing. Today I put him into the kapoochi and hang the washing out with him - where he went to sleep. He hates being naked - including changing his nappy. So every nappy change is a challenge. Changing his clothes if his nappy doesn't fit properly (we're using babylove infant 4-8kg and they seem a bit big) and makes a mess of them is even worse. Bath is the absolute rockbottom. The nappies (babylove) give him a bad nappy rash and he gets the little gel things from the nappy on him (who knows why - I change him often enough). I thought about not using that brand any more, but I've got whats left of that packet and 2 more packs of 48 left . When I'm finished them and the 3x 48 packs of huggies infant I have, we're going to see how we go with cloth. I try and get stuff done during the day, buy really dont go far. Mainly I try and talk to my sister on msn. I've been trying to fold and sort his clothes and organise his room for about a weeek now and I don't get anywhere. After reading all of the above, We have no problems at night. He feeds fantastically. Sleeps well. At night it's a dream and I can't wait til he sleeps thru the night on a regular basis so I can have a break. If I wasn't so exhausted at night and desperate for intelligent adult face to face conversation, I could finish what I started.

I'm sorry if that sounded like a rant, but I wasn't trying to make it sound like that. I really just needed to get it off my chest, coz to be honest (and don't tell my sister or Andrew), I don't think Im coping.

Changing the subject before I log off -do any of you use Facebook? Its like a community (bit like myspace). You have a list of friends and only your friends can view your photo album and yeah. Just curious. Coz if you did we can see each others pictures as well as hearing about our kiddies, we can see them too.

Sorry again gals, no personals. I just want to explain about my DH.

He is normally the BEST dad. For the last (about) 6 weeks of my pregnancy, whenever he was home he would take Ardyn and leave me to do whatever I wanted. Whether it be go out, sit and read, sleep...whatever. When he is home now, he does the same and leaves me to look after Bailey. Although sometimes I do miss Ardyn, and wish that he'd take Bailey so that Ardyn and I could have some time together just the two of us. This incident was a 'blip', but it just happened to be a BIG blip.

As far as sleeping is concerned, when it was just Ardyn, I was fine to do all of the night feeds as I would just rest when she did during the day. But now that I can't do that, I am so run down having not slept more than 3-4 hours in a stint for the last 5 weeks. This , and the 'incident' and I went ballistic.

So today we have had a good talk. He has agreed to do at least a couple of night feeds a week (I love the bottle) which will give me a chance to get at least 6-7 hours in a stint a couple of times a week. He is also MORE THAN AWARE of how stupid he was on the weekend, and understand and accepts why I'm pi$$ed off.

He also now understands that I need time with Ardyn. That although he thinks that he is helping by taking her and being 'superdad' it actaully makes it harder for me during the week, as I am the bad guy with all of the rules, and never get to do any of the good things. In fact she told me that she wants dad to put her to bed becasue he's fun and I'm not....noice!!!!!! So this weekend I'm going to get more time with Ardyn.

It's all good. I just slapped him across the head a couple of times.....LOL.

Hi all,

Neuri, my bleeding stopped at 5 weeks. Everyone is different, but there is no need to worry unless you are experiencing pain, clots, fever or an increase in flow. If you do get concerned talk to your gp or ob. But I hear you on being over it. I'm hoping because mine went for so long it means I'll get a longer break before af. I hope you do too.

Shell, I love the night sleeps, not sure if we are going to get many more day sleeps. all i wanted this morning was more sleep and I wasn't allowed. He was tired, but wouldn't sleep and screamed when I left him. So we ended up having a bath together.

Xavier doesn't often sleep through the day.
I read everything you said and don't be too hard on yourself. I'm 16dd and since 6 weeks I haven't always been able to tell xavier was drinking. One thing you can try is do a little self expressing just before you put him on that way you know for sure there is milk (just for your piece of mind). I only feel "full" now if he's gone longer than an ordinary feed.
We have had a few cuddle days where all he wants is to sleep on me. If I don't let him or put him in the hug a bub he becomes overtired and wants to eat all the time. then does what you described of attaching, sucking a few times then screaming, or not attaching at all. Similar to us when we are really tired we eat to compensate iykwim, so i figure on those days any sleep is better than none, and I get comfy on the lounge or put him in the carrier. It also means that if I can get him to sleep for a few hours when he does wake up he is actually hungry and has a proper feed and we are on the way to correcting his overtired.
Nappies: I've found (because Xavier seems to have a tiny bum) when we first go up a size in nappies we need to go for huggies for about a pack. They seem to be tighter than the other brands, but then he grows out of them sooner. I know it seems like a waste but if the nappy is leaving gel all over him stop using them. Donate your leftover open packet to the salvos and see if you can return the other un-opened ones.

Krist, men they just don't seem t get it, they mean well but sometimes it causes more havoc. I've been getting quite annoyed with nathan too and I've only got the one, and he doesn't drink so I won't get one of those little blips. It sounds like you need a good full night sleep to get you fully recharged. Sometimes he is doing me a favor and taking xavier when all he really wants is a cuddle, and then nathan will put him down and he'll start screaming and Nathan will just sit there, and I'm taking proping xavier on our pillows in the bed between us and letting him scream right next to me while nathan does stuff on his laptop, then I end up having to pick Xav up and console him because hes so distraught. Nathan just doesn't get sometimes that all he needs is a cuddle and you don't just ditch him because it's inconvenient to you.
that sounded like a big pile of gobbley gook, but I guess what I'm saying is that we all have our issues (no matter how trivial mine are) and we are hear for you to share these with so you can let off some steam.

Now what I wan't to know is who told Xavier 6 am was play time huh?? Grr all I wanted to do was sleep.

Rhiannon, I'm sorry you're having such a tough time at the moment. Granted I'm not expert, but Willa does pretty much the same thing at night. Whatever problems I may have feeding or settling her in the day time for some reason its all fine at night- sleeping and feeding. We only have occasional dramas with her fussing at the breast, as you've described with Jensen. And as I posted earlier, I reckon its silent reflux because she pulls a face when she swallows and sticks out her tongue like feeding is uncomfortable. She brings up a bit and then gets really irritable. To me it seems like she's suffering from regurgitated tummy acid. So she hates lying down and will only settle when being carried upright. Does this sound like Jensen?

But then this doesn't happen at night. Some day times she sleeps 3 hours or 4 hour sleeps, other times theres only short naps where all I can do is put a load in the dishwasher. We also get the 10 mins of staring into space quiet times and then constant crying. I am hearing you totally about not being able to get things done. I'm a neat freak and it really use to bother me, but now I just tell myself that all this fussy periods will past. It's not a life sentence and that my sole job at the moment is to mother my bub. So I feel less guilty about not having any food in the fridge or that DH might have to re-use his work shirt because I haven't done laundry.


If Jensen is feeding ok at night then it doesnt sound like a supply issue? Have you tried expressing to see how much you can get? If not reflux then maybe its just general day time unsettledness. Willa fight the breast when she has an air bubble and needs to be burped, or when she is focussed on getting a big poo out and that she can't spread her attention to feeding. I only figured these things out thru trial and error.

There's always an lc to speak to if you feel its a bbs issue. But It doesnt sound like tongue tie or suction issues if he's ok feeding at night. Hope the fussy period passes soon for you!

Morning girls,

Rhiannon - Ok where do i start. First of all, don't for one second think that i am lecturing you or talking at you. I am just offering some advice honey. Its up to you wether you want to take it or not. But i will always be here to offer a shoulder to lean on or some advice if you need it. OK!

Personally i think you are expecting to much of yourself so soon. This is normal though. I think all first time mums try and be supermum. Well i know i did anyways. You have to remember that you are a first time mum and that it takes time to adjust to motherhood. Jensen is only 5 weeks old so you have barely given yourself any time to adjust at all. YOU WILL ADJUST!!! Trust me. I have been there too.

Secondly, don't worry about the house being untidy. It happens. I am a clean freak and just hate to see my house being messy so i know how hard it is to leave it messy. But you have to do it. You can't try and do 100 things at once. You will burn yourself out WAY to quick. I have taken to just do bits and peices during the day. If Colby and Briley are content for 5 minutes i just pick up a few things off the floor or whatever. If i put a load of washing on i leave it until i have another spare minute to pull it out and put another load on. Sometimes if things are really hectic i just pull the washing out, leave it in the basket and put on another load. Then i hang it all out later on. Have you tried putting Jensen in the pram and taking him out with you while you hang the washing out??? I do that and Colby usually loves the outside time. But mostly i clean the house at night time. When the girls are in bed. Or when Briley is in bed and Brent can take Colby for me.

With the nappy problem, if you think that the Baby love nappies are giving Jensen a rash, get rid of them. Change to another brand. If you have a sh*t load of Baby love nappies maybe sell them. Put them on Ebay or advertise them in your local paper. You can use the money to buy a heap of Huggies nappies or whatever. When you change Jensen's nappy, is there a mobile or music toy on the change table that you could use to distract him?? The mat on our change table has little bears and chickens and stuff on it and Colby loves to look at them. Also above the change table on the wall there is a tweety bird thingy hanging, she loves looking at this too. If all else fails, just try and get the nappy change time over as quick as you can.

RE: Bathtimes - Now i don't want this to come across as if i saying its you thats the problem ok. But do you think that because Jensen does tend to play up at bathtime that you might fret about bath times and become stressed and tense??? If so, maybe Jensen is picking up on this and thats why he cries. Babies are pretty good at picking up when a mums is stressing out and therefore they stress out too. Do you think this could be it??? Have you tried singing/talking/smiling to him while he is in the bath?? Colby used to be the same. And she still has her moments. I worked out that i have to feed her before she has a bath. She is normally hungry when she wakes up in the morning so i give her a feed and leave her stomach to settle for about 20 mins then give her a bath. She is usually content after this.

RE: Feedtimes - From what you have described, i think he might have wind and thats why he is screaming and stopping to cry while your feeding. I find that when Colby has wind she wants to feed more often. I think she thinks that by drinking more the wind will come up when i finally burp her. Do you feed Jensen one side then stop, burp him and give him the other side??? This is what i do and it seems to work fine. You also might find that the reason he is'nt sleeping so much during the day is because he sleeps so much at night time. How long does he sleep at night??? During the day Colby normally goes down between 10.30-11am. She then sleeps for about 2 hours. Then wakes and is awake for another 2 hours and so on so forth.

RE: Sleeping position - Have you tried sleeping Jensen on his side??? Colby won't lay on her back unless she is awake and interested in something. Almost all of the time she goes to sleep on her stomach but occasionally prefers to go to sleep on her side. When she is on her side i just roll up a cloth nappy and chock it behind her back so she can't roll back onto her back. Most of the time she just rolls herself back onto her stomach when she is on her side the cheeky thing!

If you are truly concerned with all that is happening, go and see a CHN. I think that Belly Belly is as good as any CHN for getting advice though. Post a thread in the Baby and Toddler General Discussion forum. I am sure you will get plenty of other advice from the girls around here.

But the main thing is too take it easy on yourself.You are doing a great job. Get Andrew to help out as much as he can. You are both in this together. Can't he do some of the cleaning when he gets home??? I make Brent help me out! Even though he does get the sh*ts when i ask him to do something sometimes!! I don't care though. I need a helping hand too.

Well i hope i have'nt blabbled on to much. Like i said before, i am and i am sure everyone else is, here for you if you ever need any advice. I might not be an expert but i will try and help out as much as i can.

Shell - What does Holly's skin look like?? I have been having some issue with Briley's skin for ages. It feels really roung and bumpy on her arms, legs and face. And just recently she has been getting red blotches around her mouth. At first i though it was her skin being burnt from eating acidy tomatoes. Then i thought i was a ring worm as it was dry in the middle. But then my mate Shell, said that it might be excema. Shell's sister works in a CC and a boy there had it bad too. That boys G'ma said to try 2 drops of full cream milk and 2 drops of olive oil in the bath with them everynight. Well apparently this boys skins is smooth as now. Apparently the milk helps the skin absorb the oil. I have'nt tried it yet as i have'nt been shopping to buy any olive oil. But i am going to give it a go. Maybe you should too. I will let you know how it goes. If you try it in the mean time, you let me know how it goes.

Bec - Yeah its a spin out how in sync Colby and Xav are at the moment. Def got a period here. I started bleeding properly lastnight. Has'nt stopped either! I think every woman is different in re: to when their period comes back. Since Colby has really started to sleep long hours during the night my period signs have really stepped up. And now they are here. I am a little confused at how i am bleeding when apparently with the mirena i am not meant to be bleeding at all! Might give the nurse at Family Planning a call and see what she says.

Can I please join your thread?? My little girl was born on August 25th at 12.16am via emergency c-section. She is growing beauti***lly and is now over 4.3kgs!! She has breast refusal issues so im expressing and giving formula top ups!

Ok I'm going metal tonight. it's after 9 and Xavier is still awake. He's normally been asleep for ages by now. He has been cluster feeding all afternoon, like every hour. I'm getting so frustrated I've expressed ('cause I have no idea how much he's actually eating) and giving him to nathan to feed. hopefully he will go to sleep soon.

Bec - We had a pretty hectic afternoon here too. I just kept giving Colby sips of gripe water in a bottle and she seems to have settled off that. We had a bath at 8.30pm, fed for 15mins and she has crashed. Have you tried giving him a bath??? Might calm him a bit.

Well i am really tired. So i might hit the hay i think.

Growth spurts occur also around 6 weeks right? Becca, Willa has been cluster feeding as well around the arsenic hours. I remember this happened at 3 weeks for us.

Today was very good, probably because she was so tired from her colic last 2 nights. Had looong naps and went down without too much fuss after bath at 8.30pm.

Ali, I remember you saying not too express bbs too much, just do it until they're comfy. I think I went and over did it the other night because my bbs have gone crazy. What's the usual amount that can be expressed at one sitting? I got 100 ml out and there was still plenty left in them I reckon. After this, they got all massive and really really sore and started getting all excited and spraying on poor Willa when she had her feed. Was quite a sight.

Still no smiles yet! When oh when will it come. Plenty of half smiles, though she does do smiles in her sleep.

I used to be a part of the "Babies due August 1-14 2007" thread, and then I actually had my baby and fell out of cyberspace. So now I'd quite like to get back into it, if I may!

My darling daughter Laura Rose was born by caesarian on the 11th August, weighing in at 4.2kg or 9lb 6oz in the old money, with a head circ of 38cm(!). She was exactly one week late, and I'd been in the hospital 3 days prior to that, hoping that she would descend. Alas, even the night before she'd moved higher up under my ribs than she had been!
Since then we've gotten the hang of breastfeeding (have we EVER- I spend half my life with one breast or another waving in the breeze), nappies (nappy services RULE), interpreting one "waahh" from another, and generally getting to know each other. Laura has bright blue eyes and a very round head, and I think she is the most gorgeous baby ever to grace this planet. However, I am aware that there are those here who would disagree (ie. everyone with their own baby!) so I won't enter into discussion on the point.

Anyway, it's good to be here again.
Oh, and we visited the MCHN (is that the abbreviation?) for Laura's six week checkup, and she now weighs 5.8kg, is 58.2cm long (up from 52.5cm at birth) and her head is at 41cm. And she's wearing 00s. I met two eight month olds in the waiting room who were the same size! Is my baby really so gargantuan in comparision to everyone else's? She looks so beautifully the right size to me, I can't tell...
