    Hi all, 1st in!

happy 5 months ella!! she must be the oldest august bub. Xavier is 5 months tomorrow

Sehra we are planning to start swimming lessons at about 6 months oh better get my bum into gear then huh?

Sara, xavier opens his mouth to baby rice and then screws his face up when I let him have some. But I'm planning to waita couple of weeks before introducing anything else, both DH and I get upset stomachs easily and after hearing that dh was given food from about 6 weeks and I had nasty cows milk allergies I don't want Xavier to be like us when he's bigger 'cause he wasn't ready.

But I already have some vegies frozen in the freezer as from monday I will be a busy working mum so I need to have these things ready in advance.

First day of childcare today, he was fine, I was a little teary, but I have 2 more days to get used to the idea before I have to go to work as well. I don't want to go to work, but it's a means to an end for us so we can build our house, start paying it off and then have more babies.

    Cool

    Hi girls!
I did pop in and read the posts but Jensen is just on the go all the time. It's exhausting! In the last week or so, he's been sleeping really terribly. His normal through the day sleep is around 20 mins (aroudn3 times a day) so I really have to pull my finger out and do stuff then. This week its been between 10 mins and 1hr, sometimes I think he just fakes it til i walk away. At night he's changed from a once or none at all feed, to between 2 and 4. Last night just screamed like he was in pain when I wasn't cuddling him - for about an hour and half starting at 3am. Today when I was at work, DH had him - he's on holidays - and he told me that between 730 and 12 he was awake for about an hour. What on earth is going on? We think he's cutting a tooth, but there are so many lil white specks getting easier to see and feel thru his little gums, that we just dont' know which one will be first. He does drool a bit, but not as much as I thought he would. A little bit of nappy rash, but generally a happy baby. Not at all what I thought a teething baby would be like. A little jealous that one of the guys at works 13wk old daughter cut her first 2 (bottom) teeth on NYE.

We've tried Jens on Farex, and he doesn't seem to mind it, but I'm so not ready to give up my baby to food yet. Let him be little for as long as possible. That said, I have gone back to work - I so totally hear you Bec, it was hard.I really only went back to help them out, coz I was going back pt in Feb. I've now decided that I only want to do about 2 half days 730 to 12 and hopefully be able to do some from home. I know we need the money, but I've made less work for me before. Also, he's only little once, and if DH gets his way which he wont! I'm only having one! haha. So I'll have to have a chat to my boss when he come back on Monday.

NY day, we had Jensen on the bed doing a bit of tummy time and he was smooshing his face into the matress and bringing his knees up and launching himself forward!! It was sort of a crawl, tho the arms weren't playing the game. He was over it, and launched himself too far, lost balance and rolled over.... Caught it all on film! AND I got home from work today, Jensen was holding his own bottle. Not that thats new or unique, but he finished and DH took it away. Jensen just looked at me thoughtfully for a second, smiled and came out with "maaam". lol I don't know whether to put it down as a first word. He's good at repeating sounds. A last month, we both could have sworn we heard him say (twice) "Andrew". Maybe wishful thinking.

ATM there's not much else! I hope Christmas went well for everyone, and you all had a good nye. Personally DH and I sat in his parents loungeroom and watched Hell's Kitchen til 2 and went home. Conveniently, Jensen woke up about 5 mins before midnight and was awake for a bit! It was a good night.

Kim - love the pic of Hayden, sorry we couldn't make it to your party. I totally forgot til late sat arvo then Dh wasn't going anywhere, and I don't like to drive at night on my own. But... It's my bday in Feb and I'm actually going to have a party for once. I'll let you know!
Ali - Are you in a mothers group? Do ppl think you're older than what you are because you look it or act it? (that wasn't intened to be a horrible question) In my mothers group, I was surprised to see I was the youngest, by 5yrs and I'll be 25 in Feb. There was a point that ppl thought I was younger than what I was, but now, they think I'm older. Who knows why! Maybe its my baby and he's aged me! lol
When I can get more time to myself, I'll pop in, but for now, I'm off to bed!

    Hope everythings going well !!

Scone, I don't know what it is. I've never been a party girl and I married young. I'm just not interested in what most 21 year olds normally do. I did take a while to 'grow up' but when I did i passed most of those my age. I am going to 2 mothers groups, 1 for each age group with the girls and will be going to a younger parents group soon. if it is not my cup of tea i won't go. Yes I do think that kids age us, and if they didn't, some kids would be being raised by people with lower mental ages than themselves iykwim.

Em is better now (she had roseola virus) and drinking nicely again. she has gained weight! clothed weight today was 6.79kg!!

    Hey everyone,

Becca - I'm so glad that Xavier is OK with childcare... like you, I reckon I'll be a bit teary, and I don't even have to worry about it til end of July. I hope its OK when you go back to work.... we will miss you here on BB if you have to work too much

Well, yesterday, Milla and I got to meet Kim and Hayden! So I can assure you all that Kim isn't some psycho imposter 12-year-old!!! It was lovely! Hayden is a gorgeous smiley little blue-eyed bub, and seemed to take great interest in trying to eat Milla's feet. Its a shame we can't ALL meet up - it would be the best mothers group!!

Yesterday we also had Milla's 4 month check up, and she was weighed and measured again - this time 63cm long, 6.6kg, HC of 41... The nurse said I could start her on Farex (not fruit / veges, just Farex), but like you Scone I am in no rush for her to grow up, and partly I don't want to start her on solids because that would make the MIL happy!! So, I think I will wait til PILs leave at end of January, and then maybe give her a little bit. The nurse said that because she is so strong and active (ALWAYS rolling, kicking, standing... never still), she could be ready for some extra food, but since she is still gaining weight fine on BM alone, I'll wait yet.

Ali - Ems stats are amazing She's piling on the weight - I bet you are so happy to see that. I love the rolly thighs they get. DH calls them "Milla's 13 butt cracks"!!

Yesterday the nurse also said she could feel a tooth... and there has been loads of dribble (so much she has a rash on her chin, and we have to put barrier cream on it). Also loads of hand-chewing, but that has been like that for over a month. I personally cant feel anything, and its not at all red (and no white lumps), so am really not sure about this whole tooth thing. Wait and see. She a bit extra grizzly, but I think thats cause she has so much trouble sleeping properly now that she is rolling in her cot so much...

Well, I am sooooo happy cause I have the house to myself now that ILs have gone to NZ for ten days. I am going to stay in my PJs as long as possible and generally bum around and relish in not having to make polite conversation. Will also catch up on some much missed ebay-browsing, and BB reading now that I have the computer to myself!

    Wooo hoooo!

I'm northside, so I think the three of us couldn't get much further apart! But, yep, we should try to all meet up in the city ?? Maybe South Bank?

    hi all,

we have made it through 3 days of c care and i didn't cry this morning yay!! Glad to hear everyone is well.

During the day Xavier seems to only drink about 100-140 ml's (if I use ebm) and then at Nedless to say it is making it very difficult to work out how much milk he needs for child care.

I will probably come in here before doing any housework etc so i'm sure I won't be mia too often.

2.5 more days until I have to work. lol I remember counting down to maternity leave.

    Hi girls!

Bec - Good to hear the CC went well. Its amazing how well our babies do adjust and enjoy the time. Most of the time i think its acutally us that reacts worse! Were you always planning on going back to work so soon??? So obviously there is'nt any plans for #2 yet?? He he! Yeah each to their own re: solids. Every baby is different. I don't give Colby solids everyday, just when my milk does'nt seem to be hitting the spot with her. I can understand you not wanting to give Xav anything yet. Esp if you and DH had allergies. I keep trying to get into IL's heads that babies are meant to have honey, mash potato and gravy on their dummies but no-one listens too me! Oh the joys!

Campari - Milla seems to be growing very nicely. A tooth coming through already??? WOW! I am sure Colby is well on her way to teething aswell. I think she is going to be more of an earlier teether than Briley was. Briley did'nt get her first tooth until she was about 9 months old. Enjoy having the house to yourself! My IL's are away looking after someones house at the moment so its been good. Plus we are going away next week for a week and it will be good not to have someone annoying the sh*t out of me all the time! LOL at your hubbies nickname for Milla! Thats too cute!

Ali - Thats excellent news about Em's weight! She sound as though she is doing so well now. What is roseola virus??? I have heard of it. Too true about kids aging us though. I said to DP on NY's, "I am not really that fussed about NY's anymore. I would rather be somewhere where i can take my kids and just be with my family". Once upon a time i would have be distraught about not doing anything on NY's now its just....Oh look, the fireworks are nice hey!!! LOL! At least i still have some money in my pocket and no hangover on NY's day right!

Rhianon - I've been told that boys are way more active than girls! Kinda scared me for the time of when i have my own boys. If that day comes! I don't know though, Briley is pretty full on too. DP tries and turns her into the tom boy!! I think she will be a lot like me and be able to do boyish things but still be able to go out and get done up and look great. I reckon they are the best girls! Colby is def on the move. She rolls around the lounge room for ages. One minute you will look over at her and she will be in one spot then the next minute she in over the other side of the room! She is def a mover!

Sehra - Good to hear from you hun. Glad to hear that Ela is growing nicely. A tooth already aswell! Gosh babies these days are just growing up so quickly are'nt they! No have'nt thought about swim lesson yet. I have'nt even sent Briley. I guess i was just going to teach them myself. My mum taught me and i am a pretty good swimmer. Did Devrim start school this year or last year??? Yeh Colby has been trying to sit up onto her elbows aswell. When on her stomach she can lift herself right up. I guess it wont be long before she starts trying to sit up properly.

Neuri - I can't wait to read your thesis! You have a def knack for writing! I'd be happy to offer "myself" for your study!

Finances aside, some may not be emotionally prepared at 30 or over whereas others might be mature and confident enough at a much younger age.
You hit the nail on the head here. Only a few of my friends from school are now having babies. I think about 2-3 of them to be precise. The first high school i went to had a rep for drug users and they are all still way caught up in their own lives to even think about having babies. The second high school i went to was quite acedemic and most of the girls are very career orientated. I must have been just one of the few who knew i was ready to have babies early. Maternal i think we call it!

Glad to hear that Willa is rolling! You won't be able to stop her now.

Kim - Yep i saw that young girl too. I really don't think she was a troller cause she posted again saying that she was sure she had posted in here yesterday! Assuming she is a real person with a real pregnancy, I totally understand when you say you just want to protect her. Sad thing was that she did'nt even know she was pregnant until she was just over 24 weeks. Just goes to show the at 12 we don't even know our own bodies enought to tell if we have another human life growing inside us or not. All we can do is offer as much as she wants and needs. I was totally spun out when i read her post. Oh and Happy Birthday for the other day! DP was also 30 on the 22'nd of Dec!

Misty - Briley has slept with a feather pillow since she was a week or so old. She has never had any issues with it. We have just started to sleep Colby on one during the day but never when she wants to sleep on her tummy. I also never sleep her on a pillow at night cause she sleeps on her tummy at night time. Tummy sleeping and pillows....OMG! What kinda mother am i! Each to their own hun. Your baby, your choice. If you think Ella sleeps better with a pillow, let her. A soundly sleeping baby is better than a screaming uncomfortable baby! I honestly don't think there would have been enough alcohol in the egg nog to affect Ella. Unless ofcourse it was an extra strong batch! I don't drink often but somtimes i have a few and still BF. If i plan a bit night out i just put Colby on the bottle. If she refuses the boob, cause it might taste different from the alcohol, then maybe give her some formula or some EBM.

Well i think that everyone....sorry if i missed anyone!

Thought i better get in a proper post before we go away next week. Probably won't have much computer access while we are away.

I will be on the Gold Coast from Monday for a week if you's are keen to come down for the day! I understand if its too far too drive though.

Well i better go now. Such a long post and i have a whiney hungry baby to feed!

    BBL!

it's so good to hear all these babies rolling around, teething, drooling, going on solids....makes you think they are growing up WAY to fast eh?

i've taken becca's advice n placed a sheet over the pillow n my worry level has dropped tremendously!! and bub still gets a good sleep. i'm hoping to get an appt with the MCHN next week just to have a look at ella n check her weight and stuff to see if all is well n if ella should try solids soon. i would like to keep solids away for as long as possible but she's already eyeing us when we eat n moves her mouth as if she's eating too n i feel bad. ;( so i need to check up on that. no signs of teething yet coz i dont see nor feel lumps - MIL going into overdrive abt her teething...*sigh* in the right ear, out the left for me!!

one thing i noticed that over the past few days that ella has this slight rash on her body...like a heat rash coz it seems very obvious before her bath but after, it seems to go down. any bubs having this? i'm thinking the weather coz it was kinda hot a few days before the rain came...another thing i realised is that i cant seem to pump at night anymore once ella has her last feed for the day around 7-8pm before she hits the sack for the night. there's nothing to pump n even when i get up in the mornings, i'm not SO engorged anymore. is it due to her pattern of feeding or am i running out of bm???

abt a week ago, i thot AF finally made an appearance but i was taken on a ride. TMI coming up, sorry ladies... has some brown discharge and some slight bleeding n thought, o no....SHE'S back n this also means that DTD will have to be more planned with the billings method n all. [i still haven't been diligent in checking this one...actually havent really been DTDing either - poor DH!! lol] but at the end of the day...nothing. :| this has happened twice, 1st time was last month i think. so do you think it's just the body getting ready for a full blown AF? i know some ladies here already have AF dropping by but anyone like me?

well, off to prepare some mince for my pasta....ella's asleep so i better make full use of this time! later ladies...

    Hi all,

Sara, yep tomorrow is even the exact date I told them I would come back. I think I would certainly be able to cope with staying home for another 6 months but that won't get us a house built. After paying for childcare, and the mortgage for our land all the money left I get paid will be going towards building, which should be about 1/3rd of my wage. I would like to be in our house by the time xavier is 2, and think that's a fine time for #2.

Kim, I will be getting up at 6am tomorrow morning. Some things are already ready to go, and fingers crossed it will just be me getting up and getting ready from 6-7 and then xavier getting up and feeding then dressing etc. I know it won't actually happen like that, but girl can hope.

misty, i hear you on the teething thig. stragley enough it is fil that keeps saying it. xavier has been chewing on his fists since about 6weeks old and has now started exploring ojects with his mouth, and for months now fil has been saying are you getting teeth, i guess eventually he will be right I just ignore it.
Xavier has some eat rash, comes and goes, but had it kind of bad behind his knees, so I just made sure i washed and dried there a couple of times a day, and it's gone now.
I'm sure you have plenty of bm still, it is probably just regulating. if you are concerened and want to express at those times wait for 45-60mins after the feed then express, if that still doesn't work for you there are a few other things you can do such as nipple stimulation, hand expressing etc in order to get a let down and make your body think you need more milk.

Is it possible that it is af but a light version because you are still bf?? Did Ella get fussy around that day, apparently some bubs get fussy with af. If your concerned you should talk to your doc though.

Well off to work for me tomorrow, boy am I going to be tired tomorrow.

    Hi Ladies,

Misty, I still don't have AF or any signs of getting it either. I can't believe that it has been almost 5.5 months and still no AF. It is great! I don't know if its because of BF or my polycystic ovaries? Either way, it is not here! Can BF have a role in not DTD? I don't want to DTD but feel sorry for DH too. Thank GOd he is very understanding. We have only DTD once since Ela. I hear gasps from all of you! Shocking isn't it?
I don't if i should go to the Dr. about it? What do you all reckon?
Misty, i don't feel engorged anymore during the night too. Ela wakes for a feed at around 2-3am after 6 hours of sleep and my breasts aren't as full as they used to be. There is let down and she seems content after her feed and sleeps straight away, so i am not really overly concerned, but i had a lot more milk a few weeks back. I guess if they are content after a feed, then i think there should be no concern. I guess the body makes enough milk for them.

Bec- the first few days of CC is always heartbreaking. Better to send when they are too young to comprehend. I sent Devrim to CC when he was 2yo for socialising and he would cry and cry and cry until he would throw up. I ceased sending him after 2 weeks!

Re: pillows and bubs. Ela has slept on those tri-pillow since birth. It keeps her snug as if she is in my arms and we have had no complaints. I agree with Sara - a sleeping bub is better than a crying one!

Sara- Devrim started prep in 2007 but will be going to grade 2 in 2008. We were going to get his IQ tested but was advised not to and to let him be a proper kid rather than pushing him through the education system. I also found out that IQ tests cost $650!!

My reason for wanting to send Ela swimming is that Devrim is frightened of the water and dont want Ela to be the same. I will consider sending her in Feb.

This has been a very long post. I will save some for tomorrow.
    Take care all.

    Hi all,

Serah: Yes BFing does have an imact on DTD. BF can make u not as lubricated and there's just something about having a letdown all over ur DP that is not very much of a turn on lol.

Misty: AF may be thinking about coming back but post baby AF is very different to pre baby AF, so she may just be going to come very light and only for a couple of days (lucky u!!)

Thanks to the implanon my AF is almost always here but seems to be settling down. if it continues too much longer then I will c if the dr can put me on oestrogen tablets to settle the bleeding and return my body to normal or even no AF.

Hi all, been busy seeting up our family blog, so lately i feel all typed-out if that makes sense. I feel like such a computer geek now (this is usally DH's territory). Oh and my laptop broke down. bummer. Having to use dh's pc right now. I've spent a week uploading hundreds of baby photos for my family (who are in SIngapore and haven't yet met their grandkid) to see. Its the next best thing until they get here.

Ok, so much has been happening here! Teeth and head crawling and ladies back at work...

Becca - Your plan to build your own home and live in it sounds like a dream. *sigh* I'm wondering how DH and I are going to manage a 2nd baby in our tiny apartment. AFter bills n mortgage, we have zero savings left. We cld move further out but I'd have to travel further to get to my city job and that wont suit. I cd try for a better paying job but this one is so flexible and I have the world's best boss so I don't wanna give it up. If I really needed to, I cld even bring Willa in to work with me if it was an emergency.

I can totaly see the childcare being tough at first, but us mummies gotta do what we gotta do. I got our name down for family daycare starting feb, will wait to see what comes up for us as daycare here has waiting list up to 2 years long in some places.

Working and raising kids is 100% doable. I've seen so many mums do it here on BB itself. You did well! And u are so organised, what with the frozen vegies and all. I think on my first day back (when poor Willa was only 13 weeks), I didn't even put out my clothes the night b4. I was late!

Scone - Another gal back at work! Wow about the sort of crawl. That's def. a precursor to real crawling! The bottle holding is great on one had as once he gets good at it, u can actually sit back and relax with him in ur lap while he feeds. On the other hand sometimes u want your little baby back but once they get started feeding themselves, its hard to take the bottle off them! This is happening with Willa. And another wow abt all those teeth...we got nada teeth here. Everyone seems to getting their teeth except us! Willz mouth is still bald as lol.

Ali - 6.79kg?! Awesome. I'm glad to know she's gotten over her roseola.

Campari - Lol about Hayden eating Milla's feet heheh. I love baby feet. I'd eat 'em too if I was allowed I'm so jealous u guys cld meet up! Hope you enjoy your IL free time (in or out of PJs :P) b4 they get back from NZ.

Kim - the staring at us eating thing was what eventually made me try solids as well well. THat look of supreme interest...it was, well a covetous look! Willa is super active but she's not doing the legs under her bum thing very well, they're still sort of to the side of her bum, but I hear you abt them feeling frustration when all that effort doesnt get rewarded with some baby locomotion.

Sara - hehe if I do write anything, u guys can be the first to sample it. How does Colby go sleeping on her tummy? Was this something she'd always do or is it something recent? Some occasions Willa tosses and turns in her cot n seems like she'd like to sleep either side or front but I have no idea how to sleep her that way, if that makes sense. When she tries on her side, I try and make a bolster out of her blanket and tuck that between her legs

sorry if i missed anyone out, i'm expecting DH to walk thru the door n e minute now with dinner. Willa's moving around heaps, sitting up some, and on 2 solids meals a day. I grate bellamys organic dried apple into her farex for late brekky and then in the arvo she gets a rusk and some more grated apple. I'm trying to stick with the one food at a time rule, but I swear this kids wants to eat everything in sight. She's nearly chewed off the eyes on her Gary The Snail toy (from Spongebob). She grabbed mango off my plate, squished some in her fist and then licked her hand for 10 mins lol. Is mango a riskier food to give cos I know anything that's a bit sappy can be?

We had our first swim on sunday afternoon. It went very well. Willa wore some elastic swimpants and a swim hat. There was another cute little baby with her proud parents taking a dip as well tho this kid was much more well protected sunwise. The whole thing lasted abt 10 mins as were worried about sun burn. Much to DH's delight (he doesn't tan, he just burns), she went a slight olive colour almost immediately. It was bizarre, its like the asian in here just jumped right out heheh. Good old melanin!

on the sleeping front, well I am ridiculously happy to report we are now sleeping through the night! She gets up around 7am for a bottle, goes back down sometimes right after. Wakes again at abt 9, plays, has solids brekky at 10 followed by second bottle, then 2 more sleeps until she goes down for the night at 7pm. Wakes around 10.30pm for last bottle of the day. This has made her a very happy, giggly and overall just lovely baby to be around. Now I actually get bored when she's asleep in the daytime and want to wake her to play hahah.

OMG when it happened the first night I assumed it was another fluke, but its been happening for 5 nights now. Hello unbroken sleep, oh how I missed you! But i know how fragile sleep routines can be who knows when she starts getting teeth (as Jensen seems to be doing now!), we might go back to fussy nights.

alright, dh at the door, its fine dining tonight courtesy of maccas.

    gtg! take care ladies

    Hi all,

Sehra, your not alone, we haven't dtd at all, a little fooling round but nothing else. I don't get twingey feelings anymore so i'm a little more willing to give it a go, but we hadn't used any form of contraception for quite a while because we wern't trying but not preventing, so I think that is making it a little harder for me, and I refuse to take pill.

Sonia, we got no teeth here, I don't think Xavier is in a huge rush to do anything really. you wouldnt know he was one of the eldest

    Hi,

Ela had her first go on the Jolly Jumper last night. It took her awhile to get the hang of it and then... she was bouncing around, giggling, laughing. She loved it. She likes standing on her feet, so this is one activity she will love! Devrim loved it as a bub too. Highly recommended to all. Just sit near them, to prevent any accidents (we've never had one, touch wood!).

Sonia -Ela has been sleeping through the night too, for the last 2 nights. I still think it;s just a fluke, but we'll wait and see. I agree, unbroken sleep is the best and i have missed it oh so much.

Bec- how are we ever going to get back into it, luv? I feel that it is like a waste of time and i could rather spend the time sleeping as i wake up at about 2-3am for a feed. If Ela starts sleeping through, then maybe?? My weight is an issue too at the moment, i feel. I had lost 9 of my 10 pregnancy kgs then gained it all back, through eating lots when i was on maternity leave. I have joined a gym to help shed those kgs. Even though i can't diet (due to BF), the excercise might speed up the metabolism. I refuse to take the pill too. I am sick and tired of having to take tablests each day. I have been on and off the pill for about 8 years. No thanks!

Can all those living up in wet QLD, tell the rain to go away... I will be up on the GC for a holiday on the 17th of Feb with the whole family! Can't wait. I am soooo excited

Anyway, got to get back to work.....
    Take care all..

sonia : go melanin!! i wonder how ella will do when we get her in the pool coz dh turns red n i go really dark! lol so we'll see. and i hear ya abt those long nite sleeps - i welcome it back with open arms.

anyway, took ella to the clinic for an overall check up and to talk abt this teething this n when to move on to solids. ella is growing good! n still got baldy ol' gums here....hehehe! wouldn't it be great to look as good as our bubs when we got no teeth later on in life? =P

Weight : 7.44kg [75%] up by 0.5kgs from her previous weighing on 3/12/2007
    Height : 65.5cm [75%]
    Head Circ : 41.5cm [25]

we talked abt the solids and will start on that when she is abt 6 mths or if she starts to show way too much interest when we eat coz that's another sign that she'd be ready. was told to start on rice cereal so i'm assuming that farex is rice cereal...are u mixing it with water or bm? the thing that i cant understand is WHEN to feed her the cereal...i mean, the nurse told me to give it to her after a feed but not immediately coz she'd still be too full but the thing is ella has these moods when sometines she will take both bb one after the other, n sometimes she takes one side then an hour later, the other. if i try giving it to her any earlier, she scream n wriggles n tries to launch herself off me!! with that in mind, when am i suppose to feed her the solids???? i are so confused....
