Hi All. Like Ali, I've been in Apr06 thread & lately in Aug07 thread. Although dont get much time on net lately.

Lanah Merilee was born on 14Aug07 at 2:12pm (as in siggie).

Ok looks like others have already suggested some of my responses, I started reading thread from beginning & typing responses as I go. Oh well, hehe.

Neuri, have u tried putting a little breast milk in the sticky eye? MW & CHN said it does wonders for eye problems & for ur nipples.
I bought a Medela Mini Electric Double breast pump from ebay, got it for a bargain, paid $80 ish, it had cost the seller $260 new + cost of accessories.
Hehe funny on the hipsters.

For stuffy noses we bought Fess Lil Noses from a chemist, it has saline drops to loosen the mucus & a short time later u suck it out with the little snott sucker.
For wind with Holly, I'd burp her twice per boob & even try putting her over my shoulder or over my arm, we ended up buying Infants Friend wind drops from the chemist, only needed it for a few wks.

Sehra, I found between 2-3wks old that Lanah need a 50ml top up of formula at night coz i just didnt seem to have enuf for her. I persisted with the freq BF & with hot showers on my BB's & back to stimulate more supply. I dont need the extra formula now. To prevent mastitis I use the trick the MW tought us at hossie, massaging the sore lumps (blocked ducts) in ur BB's whilst either in shower or whilst feeding bub, they break up while ur doing it & it prevents it becoming mastitis. Oh & also make sure u empty the boob like Ali said. From my understanding, mastitis is caused by blocked ducts & the milk sitting in the BB for too long then becomes infected. MW said the best thing to do with mastitis is to feed regularly, easier said than done though I would think. With bottle feeding whilst BF, I only use the pigeon peristaltic nipples as they act like a mother's nipple.

Self-Settling, I used the controlled crying method with Holly & it worked fine with us, she started to sleep through just b4 4wks old & still does. Use ur judgement on the sound of the cries like the others have said, but the CHN said leave bub for up to 20mins, u should hear crying & break from crying & the crying will get shorter as the breaks get longer, it is a process they go through. I'm doing it with Lanah now too & she has already started to sleep through occasionally.

Erkk Rhiannon, hope the chucking has stopped. Holly & Lanah slept in a cot from day 1 in their own room. Holly moved to a big bed at about 14mths old b4 Lanah arrived.
As for favouring sides, have u tried moving things around to encourage him to look to the other side, eg: if theres an interesting painting on the favoured side of the room, move it to the opposite side. Also the tummy time helps to keep a rounded head.
When Lanah (Holly did same) seems to want to feed, getting frustrated opening her mouth & shaking her head but wont take either boob, I find I sit her up for several minutes & burp her some more & out comes a burp, then she happily goes back to feeding.
Wow at only having 1kg to go for ur pre-preg weight, I'm envious. It took me 7mths to loose 18/20kg from Holly (then fell preggas) & 4wks to loose 9/17kg from Lanah.

Ooh, good pick up Sara, hope that uve found the problem, except for u loving potato. As for AF, with Holly, I had postnatal bleeding up to 7wks & AF started at 8wks. With Lanah, postnatal bleeding slowed right down & changed colour at 2wks but then became heavier & red again, but seems to have stopped now at 4wks. It's not unheard of to get AF whilst BF. I BF Holly for 6mths & am planning the same for Lanah.

Ali, I find Holly gets sooky about once per day at me getting Lanah up for a feed, but about 15mins later she's off playing.
