Well it's 10 to 5am and I have not slept yet...
Charlotte seems to be all blocked up so everytime we put her down to sleep, about 10-15mins later she'd start crying or screaming... She had 3 big vomits yesterday of clear stuff which the mw said was just left overs from the womb so I wonder if there is just a little left in her lungs causing a little bit of pain... My mw is coming round at 8:30 this morning so will ask her about it!
God I am tired!! I didn't sleep all last night obviously cause I was in labour n only got a 2hr nap in the afternoon n I kept waking up to check Charlotte... And now no sleep! So after the mw visit I am giving her to mum n dad and having a sleep!!!

And god my ar$e hurts!!!!!! More than my hoohaa!

I'll try to post my Birth story sometime today depending on how I'm feeling n what we do. We have to go buy Charlotte a dress for the funeral but I have to be able to walk first!!! Lol

Hope sienna was good for you tonight babyluv!! You haven't had the best run lately!!

    Hello

Caixin: hopefully the clinic is helping you sort out your BF issues. It takes a while before your breasts and your baby are in sync, and you are doing the right thing be force feeding yourself, you need to eat to produce milk. LC's are really helpful and I found the BF clinic I did when I had issues with DS was invaluable!!!! FIngers crossed you get it sorted out

Babyluv: You must be exhausted, that is serious cluster feeding!!!!!!!!!! How are you managing? It will ease up, I know it might not feel like it, and i know how you feel when you've had no sleep and have a crying baby demanding more food than you can make.

Hello Tegam how are you?? Tell us all about you and your new baby

MrsBexie: The fluid is awful isn't it. How are you going to go sitting on your undercarriage for 6 hours? You need to be careful on such a long trip that you get plenty of rest and sleep as much as you can. Especially since you have only just had your little gorgeous Charlotte. Be careful of mastitis too, you can get that when stressed or exhausted. SO excited for you still that your peanut is now here. Can't wait to hear your birth story!

AFM: well I've been in tears a fair bit over the past 2 days sore nipples, sore back, sore undercarriage - I am a world of pain. I started getting a blocked duct - lead up to mastitis so have been hot packing and cold packing and massaging - OMG that hurts! It hurts to lie down because my boob is touching the bed - it was hot and red and horrible! Not feeling too bad today - just a bit tender. I also started to get the fluey symptoms too. Mastitis is the worst!!!!

thanks for the welcome guys! not sure im staying in this thread, out belly buddies group births are very spread out so will see where we all settle hehe.

my dd3 (man still feels weird to say that!) was born at 10.09pm on the 29th, we were home by 12.30am enjoying a champers! kids woke at 6am to a new sister. kids all adjusting perfectly and love molly rose. she is a perfect baby....except she needs to convert her nights and days lol! but dh is looking after the other kids and im in the spare room so its ok. i have a morning sleep and am not feeling too tired.

i feel so lucky and blessed, VJJ is almost back to normal, back a bit sore...thinking its from all the lying around as well as the birth. milks in and feeding is great.

look forwad to getting to know you all better!

aww Kirsten!!!! You poor thing! How much does the undercarriage hurt?!? Mine is the bum more than anything, but my right labia is sooo swollen cause the stitches are on the inside on that side. I have an amazing ice pack on me now... Lol.
Damn to mastitis!! I really hope it clears up for you! Im so scared of getting it!!

Charlotte is still all whingey and crying! She hasn't stopped all night or day today, I don't know what's wrong with her! We just fed her some expressed colostrum, about 3mls... How much do they usually get from each feed?? She fed for pretty much 2 hours this Morning n still cried when I took her off so I have no idea if she is getting enough! We are buying a dummy today cause I think she just wants to suck!

And kirsten I'm with you in the world of hurt, no sleep, sore back, sore tummy, sore hoohaa and ar$e, can't walk properly... Almost makes you want to go back to being pregnant! Except I'm not giving peanut back!!! Lol...

How is everyones post baby bellies?? Mine is like a soft 20 week one... So weird and I keep forgetting I can bend Over properly!! Lol

Kirsten: How is the BF going today? Hope the mastitis clears really quickly & that the pain eases. I found massaging in a hot shower really helps.

MrsBexie: I think that sounds like plenty of colostrum, I'm pretty sure I was only getting 1-3 ml at a time the first day or two, remember her tummy is the size of a marble right now.
I really hope she settles soon so that you can rest! What did the MW say at your visit this morning?
As for bellies, my tummy is almost back to the size of what it was before baby but really soft and a bit saggy, maybe a 12 week Preg belly. I'll have to do some serious sit ups to make it tone up I think.
Hun I recommend using rock salt for your stitches because at about 5-7 days. As they start to heal they pull a bit & can hurt so start now with the rock salt, sea salt and warm water, I used cotton balls to squeeze it onto the area a few times a day.

MrsB ssounds like a great amount of milk! She is sucking to bring your milk in, its a rough first few days. Be warned that giving her a dummy instead can delay your milk and in turn stress you all further, sorry but you are the human dummy for the next 3 days! Tho you have a huge car ride right? Maybe save the dummy for that day??

Babyluv the salt water is a great idea and i did that when i had a tear with DD2 and DS, was lucky to have no tear this time!

Tegam: I was wondering about tears, I got a small 1st degree tear needing 2 stitches and it feels like there is a bit of scar tissue, or the skin just feels not so smooth where I had my tear & I'm worried that because of this next time I'll tear more severely. Was your tear bad?

MrsBexie: I have heard dummies can cause nipple confusion if used to early on, I'm trying to get Sienna to take one but she hates it right now.

Will start with the rock salt too! I got arnica pills today which are meant to really help with the swelling, got this spray from my mw that is all natural like chamomile n some other stuff to use 3-4 times a day too to calm that area down and help healing.
Charlottes Doing so much better this arvo! She had some expressed milk and then slept for like 2.5hrs n then I just fed her again for half n hour on both sides n she didn't scream when she pulled off! Yay!!

Babyluv: how is sienna going with sleep? Does she sleep during the day at all? What dummies did you get? We got the avent 0-3mth ones..
Hopefully they will help on the car trip tomorrow! Nice on the belly going
Down!!! 12 week belly is great considering you only gave birth 3 weeks ago!!

Teagam: I must have posted at the same time as you Last time!! Sorry! How are you going? Are you still sore downstairs? You didn't get stitches this time did you?

    Hey Bex,

Good to hear Charlotte got some rest, I hope you do too hun!
We got the Nuk orth dummies but she hates them, we are trying to encourage it I thought maybe it could help with the cluster feeding. Sienna is great during the day, I try not to let her sleep over 3 hrs, was hoping it would help her sleep at night but nooo
9pm hits and she turns into a hungry, crying, restless monster! She is awake hrs on end from evening till morning & it is so tough, my boobies get sore & I get exhausted!
I hope the car trip goes well tomorrow my darling & that the dummy helps. Do you have a nice soft pillow to sit on in the car? I'll be thinking of you Hun, I'm sorry again about your grandad xo

HAd no tear with DD1, 2nd degree and stitched with DD2, 2nd Degree with Ds and not stitched and just a first degree this time and i didnt bother stitching it.

I only tore with the middle two as they were born so quickly, the mw knew my history this time and controlled the head so well so even tho it was a quick birth it wasnt damaging. Her had was 35.5cms so by all rights i would have thought id tear but it seems it can be stopped!

MrsB good luck with tomorrow. I am so sorry that you have so much to face so quickly after you have had your first. In the most supportive way possible but remember we are all here when you fall in a heap next week, because you will but only cause you are human and this is so so so much to deal with! Huge hugs hun!

Mrs Bexie: I had the same restlessness with Claire in the first few days before my milk came in but once my milk came in she was much more settled. It was really hard to resist giving her anything else coz she just looked hungry all the time. They also suck more frequently to encourage your milk to come in sooner. So I hope it's the same for you and just perservere. Hope u've got some nice cushions to sit on in the car. The ice I found certainly helped heaps!

Babyluv: I had the same with Claire that she was not sleeping at night but really well in the day. We woke her up every 3 hours to feed during the day and she did much better at night. We also made sure that it was dark at night and light during the day in the room. Some days when she was really not settling at night we brought her to our bed to sleep with us... I know it's not great and some people are against co-sleeping but it's the only way we could both get some sleep.

Kirsten: I feel your pain. I've got really bad cracked and bruised nipples on the right side so the initial latching on hurts like ****. Undercarriage is getting better but still sore. Had some neck pain too coz I was looking down at her too much while feeding and getting neck pain. Boo to mastitis! I'll wish it away for you.

Went to lactation clinic today and it was great! Feel so much better now. Now i've got a plan to follow and we sorted out my attachment issues. It's so much easier with someone looking and guiding you rather than reading all the books in the world. We also identified that bubs could be too hot (coz the gang is paranoid about her getting cold even on the 40 degree day she was in long suits and wraps, and I had to be in long pants and t-shirts so we were both burning during a feed) and we're going to strip her down more now during feeding. We also worked out the amount to supplementary feed (EBM or formula if I can't express enough) each feed until I can get my supply on the left side up. Started fenugreek today but that will take some time to work. We're also going to wake her up during the day every 3-4 hrs so she feeds more regularly and I can get my supply up. I'm glad that at least she's sucking on both sides well so hoping that helps to build my supply up on the left side. Thank god for great MWs!

YAY for Shelly - Only Renee to go now.

Caixin: I'm so glad to hear the clinic worked so well for you, they are so helpful. Excellent that you have a plan in place too. And good idea not to overheat Claire and yourself, I find that I am hotter than normal breastfeeding anyway. Yay for getting her to feed on both sides too. Another thing that can boost your breastmilk is brewers yeast, a friend of mine made biscuits with brewers yeast in them and they certainly increased the milk supply The cracked nipple are absolute agony aren't they, I have massive cracks in both of my nipples the left worst than the right and when Ivy latches on I have to do all I can to not scream, but that pain lasts only a minute or two then it's bearable. I'm looking forward to that feeling easing off. Hopefully only another week of the searing pain on latching for me.

Tegam: man you had a good midwife then to prevent you tearing, Ivy was born in about 3 1/2 hours and her head was 36cm. I had a 1st deg tear and needed 3 stitches, which is pretty good considering. DS head was 35 and he took 21 hours to be born and I had 2 stitches with him.

Babyluv: Could Sienna have colic? I was reading the breastfeeding assoc book yesterday and it mentioned in the colic section a lot of the things you have said Sienna does. With DS he was very colicky and I found that when I stopped eating wheat it all settled down a bit, I have stopped wheat with Ivy too, because it seems to make her a lot more unsettled when I have it. I really hope that things settle down for you soon, you must be just dead tired! Are you managing to get any sleep during the day when she sleeps??

MrsBexie: good luck with the car trip, I really hope you manage to get some sleep in the car and that Charlotte sleeps well for you in the car. sounds like you have lots of undercarriage lotions and potions - good one, I am loving the sound of the spray on one Another thing I have found that works well is witch hazel on a
piece of gauze, applied to the stitchy bits - and just leave it on till you next go to the toilet. I can't wait for the buggers to dissolve and get the hell out of my Hoohaa! I was thinking the other day about how I was right on the Toenail prediction The toenails have spoken

AFM: well the blocked duct/mastitisy feeling has left the building thank goodness!!! Just have to deal with these cracked scabby nipples and the sore undercarriage (man I sound like some sort of sexy beast don't I??). Was feeling pretty good yesterday. The MCHN came and weighed Ivy, she has put on 220gms since Friday - little piggy wig! So looks like I'm doing something right Did anyone else get extreme beasties after the birth?? My beasties were wild, I was secretly loving their beastiness because I was allowed to lie on the bed all day admiring the freakery but they were pretty uncomfortable when I tried to do any walking around.
