Mrs Bexie: I got the same feeling down under too but I think it's just the wound healing and the stitches starting to dissolve. I was quite surprised at how big my boobs got too when my milk came in :P I think they were double the pregnancy size but they didn't last very long. LOL. Hope ur drive home was alright, you're being very brave dealing with all this and sounds like little Charlotte is being a very good girl for mummy.

Kirsten: Thanks for the recipe! You always have a recipe on hand for me. I think u're not only Dr Kirsten but also Baker Kirsten! My boobs have started to feel more full today so I might just keep the recipe for later... don't want exploding boobs as they would certainly hurt. Sounds like you had a great day out with DS and DH, certainly sounds like you got spoilt.

Tegam: Sounds like ur household is really busy with 3 other kids! I can barely cope with one baby, can't imagine how u can cope and manage to rest with 3 other kids. A quiet weekend is certainly a good plan.

Babyluv: I hear you on the screaming at night. Claire had a couple of nights when she wouldn't sleep at night and would scream when put down so it was exhausting to pacify her through the night. Glad the drops are making a difference.

Claire woke up every 2-3 hours last night for feeds but she only fed for about 30 mins each time and settled into bed quite quickly too so it was actually a good night Felt like I got some rest even though it was only in one hour lots of sleep. She's been very energetic this morning and stayed awake for 3 hour this morning! I thought babies at 2 wks were meant to feed, sleep, feed, sleep?!!?! Is it unusual/bad that sometimes she's up wanting to play (with her big round open eyes) for 1-2 hrs after a feed?

Bexieboobiana: so glad you got the chance to say goodbye to your grandad and that Charlotte got to meet him. Yep I too had the stingy stitches on day 5ish - the witch hazel really helps with that. Nipples are still sore, one of them is ok and I can feed straight from it without crying the other has a crack all the way around the nipple where it joins onto the areola, and that really really really really really really hurts. Like a burning knife going through my ridiculously large boob everytime she latches on! I pump it to try and get the nipple detatched before she feeds but it still hurts like you wouldn't believe! And yes my kids are SO good at picking presents! at the bowel movement!!! I did mine on day 2, but I am a bowel movement champion!!

Caixin: I am a regular martha stewart without the fraud I have recipes for every occasion Remember though that in a few weeks your boobs will feel less full and won't be so hard, but they will still be making enough milk, that phase freaks people out and they think they have no milk, it's just that they become more efficient. Ivy is going straight back to sleep after a feed or is awake for 20 minutes at the most at a time. DS used to be awake all the time, but that's because we didn't encourage him to go back to sleep, then he'd get more and more awake and harder and harder to get to sleep. We used to think DS was having a great time because he was hyper but turned out he was overtired - oops, oh well we didn't know. Do you find her hard to settle? All babies are different and some sleep a lot less than others.

Babyluv: hope sienna goes back to the 4 hourly feeds at night for you, hopefully the infacol is working for her. I did have a lovely birthday and the nipple is still sore, I think it is slowly getting better though, hard to tell when I'm biting down on a rolled up nappy when she latches on I think I'm biting down for less time now!!

AFM: apart from the ouchy nipple, everything going well, my stitches are doing that healy itchy thing, it's hideous! itchy but still sore!!!!

Had a crazy family dinner at a Thai place and I was so stressed!! It was so loud and crowded and charlottes pram wouldn't fit properly, the food was good but we shot out of there as soon as we were finished eating! So glad to be back at the hotel now...
Im sooooo ready to go home tomorrow! I am so tired and it's been so hectic since charlottes been born. So yeas teagam... Lots of lazy pj days coming!! Lol

Caixin: with the cryin Charlotte is either asleep or screaming. There is no middle ground. I'm not sure how much screaming is normal! Lol...

Hey Girls!
Just found the thread! Had a horrible week really after the C/s Liam cracked both of my nipples as he was trying to suck and nothing was coming out (except for blood!!) as he had used up all the colostrum, with lots of help from the mw and with some formula top up, i can finally express milk and get him to feed on my right boob. Such hard work... I don't know why people were telling me i was crazy for having two jobs this equals to six with barely any sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am going to get some shut eye now and take my drugs but will be back later to check on you girls! x

Caixin: How's Claire? Is she still having the same amount of wake time? Sienna can have 2-3hrs awake but then when she is unsettled she is awake for hrs on end.

Sorry to hear about your poor nipples they sound excruciating! Can you try nipple shields? Hope they recover super quick! I've found BF the hardest thing about being a mum so far, it's not easy at all.

Afm: we had our 3rd night in a row without screaming for 7-8hrs
Sienna woke 3 hrly for feeds last night, the prob is it's a 2hr stint, feeding takes about an hr with a change and burp in the middle, then burp again, good old cry for Sienna before she sleeps again but this is a major improvement on what we had a cpl days ago. I don't want to speak to soon but she seems like a diff baby, so much happier. She has playtime where she is awake without screaming & enjoys tummy time, she looks at me & has even smiled when I've been talking to her, it's been lovely. I really hope it stays like this and she doesn't go back to her old ways!

Mrs Bexie: yep they get that healing itchy thing. I'm trying not to use nipple shields, they usually end up more trouble than they are worth, it's very slowly getting better, the bleeding is horrible though. Oooh that dinner sounds very stressful, those sorts of situations when you've just had a baby are awful!! Have a safe trip home.

Kaylee: yay for finding the thread. Breastfeeding is the hardest thing to master and to get over all the problems. but once you're past everything it is so wonderful and convenient. And it is like 6 jobs. full on full time!

Babyluv: nipple is getting a little bit better every day, I just wish it would happen faster. Stitches not so bad...haven't had any panadol for over a day. So good that you had no screaming for 7-8 hours, do you think it is the infacol helping? It's so gorgeous when they smile at you isn't it??

Ok time for a lay down while I can Hope everyone is getting BFing happening and that you're all getting at least SOME sleep.

Kirsten: Ouch on the nipple. I've got the same on one nipple too, huge crack down the side, worries me that one day my whole nipple will come off! Doesn't seem to be getting any worse, not sure if it's getting better though. The first suck always has me screaming. Claire's more awake during the day, sometimes for 2-3 hours still. She's not crying just happy to lay on my lap and watch outside the window. On the really hot days she sleeps only for very short times as she gets hot easily. Sometimes the grandparents all want a piece of her so she ends up getting passed from lap to lap and doesn't get settled to sleep, then she gets cranky later and becomes even harder to settle.

Mrs Bexie: Have a safe trip back home. Clarie screams quite a bit some days too, esp when she's getting changed. She hates being naked.

Babyluv: Glad to hear that u're having some nice days. The long time to nurse and change certainly takes a lot out of us doesn't it? Well at least there's less crying. Gotta love that smile you get, I think Claire is slowly following me around with her eyes more and more each day and I love it.

KayleeF: Ekks on the blood, Claire brought up some red tinged milk the other day and gave me a scare until I figured out that it was from my nipple. :P

My boobies are starting to get full again! Love it waking up to full hurting boobies and being able to pump more milk to store now. We've gone without top up feeds with EBM for more than 24 hrs and she's still giving me enough wet nappies so yay! My milk supply is getting there. DH downloaded this application on his mobile that has noises that soothes a crying baby, such as slurping noodles, hair dryer sounds etc. And it really works! We used it last night and Claire was quiet in an instant.

Hey strangers! I know we were 12hrs too late for this thread but I'm crashing in here anyway!

Me and georgia are both doing well, we've been home for almost a whole week now. I can't believe how much this kid feeds! But I'm doing my best to feed whenever she asks for it (which seems to be only 15mins after she's finished a 40min feed sometimes!) it gets a bit hard at times coz I feel I like my boobs haven't had a chance to refill at all but she's big and healthy and getting stronger everyday so I just gotta keep at it, would love a chance to start a store of EBM tho!

Looking forward to keeping in touch with everyone again, I've missed you guys! hope everyones well and I'm loving all the adorable pics on FB. Oh and anyone heard from Renee since she had her show? Hope she has her bub soon, poor girl!

Little_mrs: Sienna was a week early & I'm crashing in here
Good to hear you and Georgia are doing well, I hear you on the BF, it's tough! My girl feeds like that alot, had 4 nights in a row where she fed and screamed for 7-8hrs constantly. It's only the last cpl days since we saw the gp & got infacol that she is now feeding every 2 1/2 - 3 hrs at night.
I haven't heard anything from Renee, really hope that means she is having her bubba

Caixin: sounds exactly like what my nipple looks like, looks like it's just hanging on by a thread awful awful thing. It's a bugger when they go too long without sleep then are really hard to settle. So far (fingers crossed) we have been lucky with Ivy she is a great little sleeper, she has some unsettled time usually around 7 when DS is going to bed. Then it makes DS get up and investigate the noise then we have to put him back to bed then resettle Ivy and round and round it goes Yay for having enough milk. So proud of you for sticking with it!!! Especially when it's so hard.

Little Mrs: yay you found us! 12 hours, that's nothing, I'm fully expecting Renee to be in our group here too good on you for doing all that feeding - exhausting isn't it Haven't heard from Renee, am hoping to see a BA soon though.

Hello everyone, well I have been MIA for about 6mths as I have had a lot to deal with, but I am going to try to get back into the swing of life again... I had my beautiful boy Parker on the 18th, woke up at 3am with my waters broken ( lucky I was staying with my sister at the time and my older two were with my parents ) woke up my sister at 4.30 got to monash at 5 my other sister who was to be my bithing partner got there at 5.30 after getting lost and headed to monash uni lol and Parker arrived at 6.30, so it all happened quite fast... Parker had a few blue eppersods while at hospital but is doing very well now, not that he has enjoyed the heat too much over the last few days...

Xh came home on the 23rd where we offically seperated, so now I am a single mum to 4 winkies, very scary and dawnting time but hope I can make it though it all... I am currently looking for a new house as I cant afford to pay this rent... so fingers crossed I find something soon... Xh is back in QLD finding himself, I truely hope he works out what he wants in life...

other than that so far ( touch wood ) I have been blessed with a very well behaved baby who is demand feeding like a champ, has taken to a dummy which is a life saver at times... but the real test will come when school starts and I have to run around like a headless chook making breakfast lunch and dinner for everyone when I couldnt be bother eatting anything atm...

I hope not to get too slack and build up my bb freindships again... still can work out how to change my user name though...

Has anyones swelling gone down since giving birth? Mine has flared up and it hurts so much to walk!!! I have them up on the wall to make the fluid go down but itss not working :/

Got my staples out today, you cant even see the scar!!! Awesome!! Just gotta keep up the bio oil for these stretch marks.

Little mrs: On the days when Claire feeds constantly, I just keep thinking that one day my supply will build up enough for her to feed less frequently. One day... I also remind myself that I'm fortunate enough that I'm back BF again so I don't have to deal with the kafafal of bottles.

Babyluv: Hope Sienna's silent reflux is getting better. It's so hard to tell sometimes if bubs is just unsettled or not feeling well.

Kirsten: LOL on the round and round with DS and Ivy! Probably not that funny when u're having to deal with it. :P Ouchie on nipple hanging by a thread. I just wonder with all the suckling if that nipple will ever get a chance to heal.

There's always a time during the day when Claire is sooo unsettled and wouldn't sleep and would cry whenever you put her down. I had a huge struggle last night when the unsettled time happened as to whether to give her the dummy. We haven't had to use it so far as she doesn't mine just going back onto the breast but last night she had a belly full of milk already and was bringing up milk but still wanting to suck. I'm still torn between whether or not to give her the dummy though both MIL and mum want me to give it to her. I wonder how long I will resist it for.

I hate them and have never used one. Only telling you this as so many people will tell you to go for it! It is totally up to you and if you decide to do it then thats fine, if you dont then thats fine too! You are the boss of your baby and your family!

Caixin: I struggled with this decision too, we have given her the dummy, she likes to feed constantly when she is having a reflux episode & this makes the situation worse so the dummy has been a lifesaver at times. She's funny though sometimes she will take it & sometimes she won't. I didn't want her to have a dummy but I think for the difference it makes now it is worth it even if we struggle to get rid of it later on. Do what's right for you & bub Hun don't do it because other ppl want you too xo

Wow i've finally had a chance to read back thru most of whats been happening! Sounds like I've been lucky with only a tiny crack on each nipple, not near enough to bleed and they're healing well now we have the hang of BF.

So most of us ended up with stitches? I had an episiotomy and forceps in the end so plenty sore undercarriage for me! And by pushing for over an hour first with only weak cx and G being off centre and hardly moving I managed to pull a muscle in my bum cheek! It hurts more than the stitches most the time!!! Loving the frozen condom in the undies tho, instant relief!

My poor little bub is losing her voice too, her crying has gone really wheezy and raspy, she's breathing and swallowing ok and temp is good but gonna take her in to see a dr or someone tomorrow. Seems feeding is soothing her throat at the moment so she wants to quite alot, but if it's easing any pain shes in I'll feed her till my nipples fall off! I can't bear to hear her cry like that, I end up crying too!

Hope everyones getting enough sleep and all hurty nipples and undercarriages and bellies heal up nice and quickly!
