    Hi all!

Thanks Kaz, that was really helpful! Keep checking the PO box for my inserts... can't believe I'm so excited about trying MCNs Awesome that Will is doing so well, and lovely that he can join you out in the garden! Our backyard is so exposed, there's no nice shady place to put Millie. Gardening is so theraputic... I'd love a vege patch but that's the kicker with a rented property - you can't exactly dig up the lawn!

MadB so glad Miri likes the wrap. I know what you mean about avoiding responsibilities... I'm a world class procrastinator. I hope things level out for you medically. Boo to having to see a specialist (just because they always run bloody late - like we have time to sit around in a waiting room!) but if that's what it takes...

We're doing pretty well. Millie woke up screaming at midnight Monday night - darn boogers again! Once they were gone she settled until 3.30, and we had a pretty good day yesterday. She's starting to really "talk" a lot and interact with us, and with mirrors She spent ages babbling to herself in the little mirror on her playmat yesterday morning, and she had a great chat with DH when he got home last night. I took off to Zumba (baaahahahahaha I'm such an unco but it's SO much fun!) and came back to find DH's mate and his fiance here - DH works in IT so they had "dropped by" with his laptop, which just happened to be having issues. They are nice people but I hate seeing DH taken advantage of in this way, and because he'd just started feeding Millie as I left he hadn't had a chance to have dinner... and of course I came home starving... and they'd already eaten so I felt bad about sitting down to leftover lamb shanks and mashed tatties (mmmmmmm ) in front of them... so we just had bloody tea and toast for dinner while they hung around... and hung around... and hung around. FAR OUT!!! Finally got to tumble into bed, but Millie woke up at midnight and 1, both times only briefly and resettled quickly. THEN... she slept til 6.30am without waking for a feed!!!! I, of course, only dozed fitfully from 4... but it's still a pretty good run!

Better get showered so we can go see Tangled this morning. Take care, all!

Enjoy the movie PP, you'll have to write that one down in Millie's book. First trip to the movies even though she won't remember it.

Last night was a bit the same, our actual evenings of sleep are fine i even put her down awake from her 3am feed and she went to sleep all on her own but just won't do it from about 7pm - 10 or 11pm. Got to work on that one. I stayed up until 12:30am sewing, i've made Harper some gorgeous little pants and a top for when she's a little bigger.

Kinder day today but still only 1 hour session. He'll love it though i'm sure. Have a a great day girls

How was the movie? I woudl have jsut had dinner

EJ, that's great she goes off on her own at one sleep - in time hopefully she'll bring that forward a bit (or a lot). DD can only do that at night, never during the day now. Maybe it's because she's a I just love that emoticon

Nappies ARE exciting! I'm going to try and get on to sewing some on Friday... I'll post pics if they don't turn out utter crap.
DD is spending so much time awake today!

MadB she may be a but she's a cute one.

Tonight was a bit tricky but we had sucess much ealier than usual. I'll just keep working on it.

Had a great day today, Harper slept well throughout the day and Aidan had his first real session of Kinder with a bit of a routine sent out. He loved it and has been really well behaved lately. I think it takes a mummy melt down (and a little help from some terrible tantrums) to make you look at things and make a few changes. It's a constant learning curve.

    Sweet dreams girls

This is kinda funny. At 6:30 I took Miri off for her bath and a massage, then in to her nappy and wrap me up. Then off for a feed for bed. .... 2 hours later she's screaming her head off and still not sleeping. I had had it... you know what I mean. Put her down, fed up.... and then she happily put herself to sleep.

If only she could have said 'put me down mum!!!!'. They just continualy keep us guessing don't they MadB?

We have had a pretty good week this week. Aidan has been well behaved , Harper is sleeping beautifuly during the day and the nights are kind of improving. It still can take some time to get her to sleep but i'm doing a lot of it in her room and trying really hard to get her to fall asleep in her bed. Charlie and DH have gone away for the weekend, a little one on one time for them.

Hope all is well with everyone

    Hey girls,

I’m finally home and have a minute to catch up! There’s a lot to catch up on and I’m short on time with all the unpacking/cleaning so here goes!!

Picketty – has your parcel arrived from your mum? How’s Connor going, I hope you were able to sort out his pooping issues…by the way, you are totally allowed to be tired and emotional – I think we all understand how that feels!

Georgi – I hope Eden went well on the plane and you had a lovely time away.

Kaz – Middlemount is half an hour from where I live, your cousins are obviously in mining. Hope you’re enjoying your time in the garden, nothing beats the fresh air! I’m sure Will loves it too.

PP –Where do you buy your wrap me ups? I’m hoping somewhere online so I can give them a go! I have two swaddle me wraps and Jacob seems to sleep best in them – he can bust out of a muslin in record time now I was thinking of trying the wrap me up as he does still try to get his arms up. Is it cooler there yet? I hope you’re back in your bed by now! Excellent news on the cc, glad you found somewhere you were happy with, I know it must have been a difficult decision.

EJ – How’s Harper going? Sounds like you had a few rough nights – we all have those don’t we! Hope things have settled down for you by now. How are you feeling? I hope you’ve found some time to do things for yourself, feel free to vent any time, you’re not selfish, you’re just a wonderful mum who puts her babies first therefore letting things for herself fall behind. That’s what we’re here for!! xoxo Glad Aidan is doing better, hope Charlie and his daddy have a wonderful time together this weekend.

BF – So glad you have Matteo home with you!! Hope you’re both settling in well. Look forward to hearing more from you when you have the time to drop by.

MadB – How’s Miri doing? Hope you’re feeling a little better, hope your GP can figure something out soon!

AFU – There is a huge improvement in Jacob since he started taking Zantac, he’s settled down a lot. He seems so much more comfortable which is fantastic, it’s nice to see him lay with his legs flat on the bed instead of kicking and carrying on. Our trip went well, sooooo much driving. We ended up doing something over 2000 km’s in a week. Glad to be home. I have borrowed the Zumba dvd’s from my mum and I’m excited about giving it a go when I have a moment spare and I got new shoes so I can continue my afternoon walks without the nasty blisters!

Have a great day everyone, best be off to do my washing – I doubt the fairy is going to pay me a visit!! xoxo

Glad you had a great time away Jules. The improvement with Zantac is great isn't it!?!? So glad you've seen a difference also. I was talking to my SIL yesterday and she said she'd mentioned Harper and the refulx to a friend of hers as she's a mother craft nurse and she asked if Harper would throw her head back alot. Harper would always do this in her crying sessions, you'd have to hold her upright with you hand behind her neck as she was always be pushing back off you. Did Jacob ever do that? That's more confirmation for me in trusting myself and knowing that things weren't 'normal'.

Harper is waking already and i should have been in the shower by now OPPS. Better go ladies

    Showers? What are they??

EJ, you sound a lot more centred, glad you're getting some sleep! I didn't even know they had mothercraft nurses still - what do they do? Mum sent me down the brochures she was given when she had me - might start a thread about them.

Jules - that's a decent trip! Where did you go to?? Let me know how Zumba goes for you, I keep looking at it, and they have the DVDs at our local video hire place. Have you seen those toning shoes? I'm really tempted by them too, I have good posture and high arches, so hope they will help

MadB - I noticed you're taking some time off as Mod, will you still be dropping by here? Hope you're getting some more sleep.

PP - it's amazing, people haven't yet "clicked" that puter tech is a profession and they don't treat it like other professions - like say electrician / accountant / plumber. I would never "drop round" and ask my BiL to fix my plumbing!!!

Cathie, how are they all going? One of the ladies in Pip's baby buddies group has her eldest in school this year, she can't believe she's the mother of a school kid!!!

AFM - well we bought Pip a firetruck bed, for being a good big brother. Still doing the garden, our neighbours have their open house today, just need to stake down the weedmat, move up the mulch, and plant the plants! I have a climbing hydranga to put in, and a couple of begonias that are in pots, I bought them in the $1 basket a year ago and have nursed them back to health, might try to strike some lavender from the prunings I did yesterday and also have some seedlings to plant - hopefully we'll get out to bunnings so I can get a machete and more seedlings, I love mass plantings!!!!
Will's asleep at the moment, he wakes up in his cradle with all his blankets kicked off so I bring him into bed with me, he sleeps so much better there. DH is complaining that he's a mummy's boy, he settles so much better for me than him. Next week is our MCHN appt, so I'm going to ask her to do the Edinburough test on DH as he's the primary carer. I think DH might be getting overwhelmed a bit. All my nappies are on the line, I have like 3 nappies that aren't either wet from washing or in the nappy pail, hope they dry today! He's so alert, he loves his lion transfer on the wall next to his change table, he smiles and engages with it almost every change! Wondering if I should move them around so he's got the giraffe too!
Anyhows, best go finish the garden, am going to ask the neighbour if I can borrow their mower ...

Exctly Kaz i normaly have a shower about 10 or 11 at night.

Not sure Kaz Are they a bit old school??

Oh i'd love to have a read of some of the things they used to tell our parents when we were the younguns.

I've actually been thinking to myself i'd like to write a list for my friend who is having her first child in the beginning of April. Things you don't generally read or get told. I've been writting a few things down for her, does anyone have any ideas of things they wish they were told before bub was born?

ANyway i must go my dad and i are taking Aidan to the local pool for a swim. Dad's getting in the water with him and i'll watch with Harper.

hmmmm I wish I knew about 'roids! And about the complications from stuff like epidurals. things about breastfeeding, just what can be done and how to get help. EG - my mum was saying that when I was born, she was seperated from me. She was given a cup and told to fill it with EBM before they'd let her see me, and that they wouldn't let her see me for 3 days. Her OB saw her and she told him this when he asked why she hadn't gone to see me - the nurses had told him that she didn't want to see me. She was saying that she was crying a lot when he came to visit - and he told the nurses to take her to me immediately and to not treat her like that.

    Ahhh, found the Book.

There are great fussy stages at around 5 weeks, with the storm then too, then sunny week at week 6.
Stormy week 8, with fussiness until the end of week 9, then sunny week 10
Stormy week 12 and sunny week 13
Fussy week 15 - end of 19, with stormy week 17, then sunny week 21.
    fussy week 23 -26, stormy week 26
week 29-30 fussy & irritable behaviour as they discover that they are a separate person and can be left behind - but sunny week 31.

    Hi all

MadB, Tangled was quite funny and beautifully animated - the hair looks so real! Yeah, I should have just eaten the shanks but we enjoyed them in peace the next night

EJ, glad things are settling down with Aidan and Harper - and so nice that DH and Charlie got some bloke time together

Hey Jules, welcome home! We got our wrap me ups from Babies Galore, but we did get a couple of the smalls on ebay. She just grew out of the smalls so suddenly that we had to head out and get her the mediums quickly! Glad the swaddle mes work for you - they look like a great idea but Millie just hated them.

    Yay more Zumba converts

Kaz the firetruck bed sounds awesome!!! I just love the sound of your garden. That's astounding about how they separated your Mum from you. My Mum was telling me how they kept us in the nursery and just wheeled us in at "feed time" but that is extreme. I'm glad they're a but more enlightened now! They also got Mum to add sugar to my sister's formula - holy cow!!! My sister was sugar intolerant so this was a nightmare for them both til Mum trusted her gut and stopped adding the sugar. Sheesh.

EJ I think in terms of stuff first timers need to know... sheesh, I think the biggest one (and I'm still trying to take my own advice here) is to trust your own instinct, and let "well-meaning advice" be like water off a duck's back. If she's not already on the Bellybelly bandwagon, get her on here! It is so much easier to seek advice anonymously - my sister for example takes it so personally when I don't follow her advice - I have just stopped asking her. Noone gets hurt if you ask for help here and you can take or leave the suggestions, and there's such a wealth of experience that someone is sure to suggest something that will fit with your parenting philosophy.

So, the movie on Wednesday was great, nice to get out with a new friend as well Millie was a gem all day and slept so well. I didn't, unfortunately, so on Thursday I was trashed. Everyone keeps asking if Amelia is sleeping well - she does sleep very well at night, its just ME!!! I skipped a walk in Parra Park with other new Mums to try and get a little more shut-eye, but Amelia was a very chirpy bird so no nap for Mummy. SO we went for a walk and I paid her enrolment fee for the cc. Cried a little over that. I have until 19 July to get used to the idea. I also picked up the MCN and inserts I bought! Brought them home and washed them - the bamboo takes its time drying! I found a pack of Complete Sleep capsules I was taking before we started TTC last year - they're natural and very gentle so I took them Thur and last night - thank GOD for a couple of decent nights' sleep. Went to Mums and Bubs yoga yesterday, which was awesome - same place I did the pre-natal classes.

I had to go to my GP for a couple of things that have come up - she asked, "anything else?" I almost asked for a referral to a counsellor but as I was having a good day I didn't. Of course I'm a bit of a basket case today and am kicking myself for not getting it "just in case". Idiot. I'll need to see her next week as follow up to an ultrasound, so will ask for it then, regardless of how I feel on the day. For now, DH is out and Millie is sleeping so I'm self-medicating with mac and cheese for dinner and milo by the spoonful. Great way to shift the baby weight. Not. Why does comfort food have to be so bad for you?

Millie has started drooling a LOT. Is this normal? She's 12 weeks now. I put an MCN on her today, with just one bamboo insert. I wouldn't have thought that she'd be a heavy wetter, but by the end of her feed she had leaked out one leg hole and all over my shorts! I'll put a couple in next time around. My BBH order has been shipped so I hope they work well

I hope you're all well and enjoying your weekend!

PP - MCN take a few washes to get to full absorbancy (about 3 washes) but the leaking out one leg may be that you didn't do it tight enough? Or maybe left it on for too long before completing all the prewashes? (i don't do all the prewashes, but I leave the new ones on for about an hour, no longer)
Do get a mental health plan - or ask your MCHN about a mental health team local to you - so you get it for cheaper. Please, please - do take steps to help yourself earlier rather than later . . . Sleep is good, I find that really helps me heaps.

Took Will into my garden today, had him in his rocker while I was moving wheelbarrows of mulch up the hill. And he had a lovely sleep! Felt really good - DH had Pip over at a friend of his place ...

    Hey girls!

EJ - Oh wow!! Jacob used to do the same thing!! He used to go stiff and push off me and put his head wayyyyy back. That was when he wasn't climbing me and carrying on. I have to thank you for sharing it when you did, I was reading it one day and it clicked, so many things you said were the same...I kept telling myself no but one day he was sooo uncomfortable that I went back through the thread and found your post that explained Harper's symptoms and then did some research. So glad I did, I'm finally able to make my little boy more comfortable. If it wasn't for you I would probably be thinking it was 'normal' too. Good for you on trusting your instincts. What a lovely idea for your friend, the best advice I ever got was from my cousin - nothing fancy, just plain honest - she told me that nothing will ever prepare me for it but just to remember that it gets better and better with time until you think your heart is going to burst with happiness and love So true... How are your boys doing? Did Charlie enjoy his time with his dad?

Kaz - We went from Central Queensland down to Toowoomba, then up north to Townsville then home again. Very big week of travelling! Poor little Jake, he was over it, but he was SUCH a good boy. Will let you know how I go with the zumba dvd's, I'm DYING to use them! So far I've only had time for a walk each day but my housework is almost up to date so I'll be falling oops, I mean dancing around the lounge in no time You should try those toning shoes! DH got a mens pair the other day and he loves them, he has been running in his (they are a special pair apparantly) and he notices a big difference. The garden looks fantastic!! You have done a wonderful job. How's Will and Pip? Oh my gosh, your poor mother!!! What a terrible thing to do to a new mum!!! I'm glad someone spoke up for her.

PP - Yes, your zumba talk has inspired me!!! I'll let you know what injuries I get from it in the coming days Thanks for the info on the wraps. Jacob has been really fighting to get his arms up in his swaddle me and he's almost outgrown it so I've bought one wrap me up off ebay and I'll give it a go. He seems to be really happy with himself when he's wriggled his arm up and can have it beside his face so maybe he'll prefer the other one. We will see what works best I guess!! I agree about letting people's advice just go over your head if it doesn't suit you. I had a friend come over the other day and she loves babies so I thought she'd enjoy some time with Jacob (she's always saying she'd babysit - which I'm sooo not ready for) so I said to her 'i have a few jobs to do as we just got back from our trip so if you wouldn't mind holding Jacob for a while I'll just tinker around and get them done'. She proceeded to tell me that I shouldn't change my life around him and I need to learn to just let him cry. Apparantly I'm spoiling him and I'm going to end up with him permanently attached to my hip. Meanwhile...I don't see the point in him crying when he only ever crys for a reason and I normally know what it is, and I don't carry him everywhere...he self settles himself to sleep most times and I put him in his bouncer quite often while I get my jobs done!! *sigh* I had a bit of a cry when she left, I just felt like I was such a failure when I am really happy with how Jacob and I are doing...Sometimes people just need to shut their mouths. She is a mum and her daughter is 16 years old...she had her chance at parenting, now it's my turn. Anyway, rant over! I hope you can get your referral next appointment. I don't know about the drooling but Jacob has been blowing a lot of spit bubbles lately.

    Gotta go, feed time!!

    Hope you're all well!! xoxo

    Hi ladies,
Everyone is busy with zumba, gardening and the movies. I am well, charlie's hearing is fine he has to go back at 10 months. Lily just hates school we have crying every night and it's starting in the morning. I just feel for her, I had a huge cry today as she broke my heart this morning.

Charlie is 8 weeks and he is still such a good baby, I soppose he has to be as I'm sooo busy with the other children. Today I put him in his cot at 7.00pm was soo busy feeding kids, helping hana on the toilet that I totally forgot about him he was in the cot till 7.30pm and than he started to cry and than a remembered Oh charlie what a terrible mum I am.

big hugs ladies, I send sleeping vibes to all the babies.

Oh Cathie...I am so sorry to hear about Miss Lily! hugs for you both... I read what you wrote on fb, I'm amazed that's even allowed. How stupid can that teacher be?! I really hope something gets resolved as Lily should be enjoying her time at school, not dreading it. Poor little thing. Great news on Charlie's hearing.

Still awake here, trying my best to get to sleep but Mr J is making things rather interesting tonight....here's hoping he's just wanting to go to bed late so he can sleep all night......HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA gosh, I crack myself up
