queenb - great to have you back on the thread hon Aaliyah sounds like she is doing really well! i never get email notifications for this thread either so I just keep popping in every now and again.

Well, Ochre is really enjoying solids. I started him on pumpkin which he wasn't too impressed with so I moved onto sweet potato and he doesn't mind that but he definitely has a sweet tooth (just like his mummy!) as he looooves pear!! Today I started him on pear in the morning and then sweet potato tonight with pear for dessert and he ate it all! His poos have changed as well....what's coming out is looking exactly like what's going in hehe....and just about every nappy has it in it!! I've introduced a bottle with water in it as I read breast babies need a little extra water when they start solids. He is not sure what to do with it but with a little perserverance I'm sure he'll get it

So far his nightly feeds haven't changed much - he's still doing 3.5 to 4 hourly blocks of sleep in the night. I had him weighed on his 5 month birthday and he has dropped down on the percentage scale. The move to start solids was the best thing for him as he really knows already what it's all about and tries to grab the spoon when it comes near him. His eyes light up when he sees it and his tongue pops out...he looks so cute He tried some watermelon and really enjoyed sucking on that. I think the coolness of it soothed his gums as well. He is strong enough now to sit for short periods in his walker and he is loving touching, sucking and playing with all the bits and bobs on it. I am going to hunt down the jolly jumper too....my other boys loved that! xx
