Hi everyone!
Littlelalla & skyeblue (and anyone else on solids): we are looking to put Lachlan on solids at 5 months. We want to do the traditional mushy food rather than baby led solids. If it was up to DH Lachlan would be on three meals by now but iv managed to keep the spoon away from him. ha ha. How did you start introducing solids?? e.g what meal did you introduce it at, what did you first introduce (farex etc), when did you know how to increase or add new meals and did you introduce one new vegetable fruit at a time or did you just mix two or three together. So many questions. We are looking to start early mainly due to the fact that ds always seems sooo hungry but usually throws up huge amounts of his feed. Hopefully he will stop chucking but im not holding my breath.
Skyeblue how are you going with the dummy?? Iv been toying with the idea of getting rid of the dummy. we always said that we would get rid of the dummy at 6 months but now im not sure. it really helps lachlan settle when he goes to bed and he spits it out when he is asleep and doesn't usually need it to be reinserted but im scared that he will get too dependant. although he has discovered his thumb but hasn't quite worked out how to suck it to settle yet. just pokes himself in the eyes with his other fingers and that upsets him more
No signs of teeth here yet thank goodness. not looking forward to that. although lachlan has had a red sore bum which he never had before and i heard that can be a sign of teething but nothing yet. Prob not far off though.
Well ill be all alone next week as DH is going away for the week. He is in the air force and usually does alot of trips but things have been quiet and i think they finally got the message that he doesn't want to do trips anymore so this is my first trip since lachlan was born. He was away for most of my lst trimester which was interesting and just managed to get home for lachlans birth as the bugger decided to show up early. Usually he is away for a min of two weeks though so this is nice and short. He is going overseas though and will be flying most of the week so will be hard to keep in contact which sucks. Im sort of looking forward to the challenge of doing it on my own but at the same time im getting scared. I find it really hard to bath lachlan because of my back so not sure how i will bath him next week so he might be a bit stinky by the tie dh gets home! Hopefully this will be the last trip though as dh starts a new position in juky with no shift work and minimal if any trips and that is for three years so woopy! Then again having him around all the time might be annoying!!
Other than that things have been going well. Lachlan is sleeping alot better during the day, usually 1.5 to 2 hours which is greatDont ask me for the secret though as he just decided all of a sudden one day that he wanted to sleep more and did. Although when we are out its a problem as he doesn't sleep for long in the pram but i think thats my fault as he has had a shade on his window all summer as the room gets really hot and that makes it pretty dark in there so now he likes to sleep in semi darkness. I think iv made a rod for my own back but now im scared to take the shade up as he was up at 730 this morning rather than his usual 830 as he normally does when the shade is down. woops.
I was also going to ask, Lachlan has developed a bit of a hatered for the car seat. He tries to sit up and pull forward in the rear facing seat and of course he cant because of the seat belts which annoys him and he cries. Im not going to turn the car seat around till six months even though he meets the weight criteria so any ideas on what to do in the mean time? He has a mirror which he looks but he isn't interested in that at the moment, he just wants to sit up. I have to drive over an hour with him next week on my own so i really dont want him screaming the whole way, any ideas??
