Arg, new thread, now I have to jump between 2 pages...
Hey Nadine,
great to hear from you again. Wow, 2 months until ttc, indeed not long. October for us I think... I still have to do "period maths" but I think thereabouts since I want to go skiing in January and not be too pregnant for it. I have given up on losing those last 4-5 baby kilos I still have from Wolf... maybe after baby no.3... (yeah right... and pigs fly)
Yeah on Kayla walking it suddenly makes them toddlers and not babies anymore, doesn't it
Well, not much to report here except that Zara is sick. poor munchkin has a fever. She was so out of it today at Gymboree play class and passed out when we walked home. Slept a bit then and then again on me. I took her temps, 39.3 deg. She's asleep now and I hope she'll be better tomorrow. Since the tonsillitis I keep on worrying that either of my kids could get it again.
snowy - thats terrible. god i hope zara feels better soon...poor little thing.
nadine - congrat of kayla walking...aiden has finally started too. he's been walking around furniture and taking 1 or 2 steps for a few months but finally on may 11 he starting walking EVERYWHERE!!! still doesn't like wearing shoes but he's getting there.
i hope everyone is well. i haven't been able to post cause our internet is down. hopefully it will be up soon and i can start posting more often.

It's so quiet here. I guess Kaydee is in Oz now? Hope you are having a great time!
Narelle, yeah on Aiden walking!
Zara is sitting across frmo me as I am typing, eating my apple. I had just bitten into one when she motioned to want to have it and there she is, biting into it and eating it! I am very excited because Wolf does not eat any fruit and Zara seemed so far to be the same. So I am very happy to watch her munching away on my apple.
Zara keeps on saying new words. This morning she was watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with Wolf and when it was time to call "Toodles", Zara shouted "Toodle!" It was so cute!
Hi Everyone, sorry i went mia, got morning sickness again and just felt like a break so i went to my dads, i thought it was easing but have been vomitting the last 3 days so no luck there...i have my NT scan on Monday, hopefully all will be fine.
Sleeps, H goes through phases of dropping his 2nd sleep but at the moment he is having it again which is lovely usually and hour to an hour and a half, he says new words all the time now, says Who's Dat and Whats Dat (that) woof woof when he sees a dog etc etc
Anyways hope everyone is well, what are you having MBear i missed it? How are you Narelle hope you are feeling well...
sarah...im really really well. no morning sickness or nausea. had some nausea with zara and heaps of morning sickness with aiden and this time nothing. cant wait to find out the sex. im currently 12 weeks...im finally go to see the baby doc. just taking my time.
sarah i hope your scan goes well and your morning sickess settles soon.
snowy that soooo cute bout zara. aiden says a few things, and he dances which is so totally funny i cry laughing! he's almost like happy feet!!!!!!
Do I seriously write that often??? LOL! Can you tell I get lonely?
Back in Oz now, trying to get used to these darn qwerty keyboards again. Things are good. the flight went well. Dubai was annoying though, not a good place for babies at all! When we arrived Ben got sick. I thought it might have been the jet-lag, he wasn't walking straight, and was vomiting constantly. I called the doc and they said that if he wasn't better in 24 hours, to go and see them. he got better, but as soon as he was over it, I got really sick. Was terrible, but we are okay now.
Since we got here, Ben's speech is really improving. he says "Ta" (thank you) and "Danke" (Thank you in German). so cute! He is really missing his daddy though. But Dh will be here in 7 weeks, so thats not too bad.
Can write much, im still soooooooooo tired!
Take Care everyone!!!
Hey Kaydee!! Yes, you write that much
oh yuck on Ben getting sick, glad to hear all is better now though
so great he can say Danke and Ta! what a well mannered little boy!
7 weeks until DH arrives?? How long are you in Oz for?
Narelle, good to hear that you are not feeling yucky this time around. When is your appointment? Good luck for it. Are you finding out the gender?
Us: Zara said "bubble" yesterday at Gymboree. Also, the teacher always says "let's do Zara's song" which is twinkle twinkle little star and Zara sits there and does the handmotions. It's soooooooooo cute!! And there is another song, "I hear thunder" (sung to "Frere Jacques") and she bangs her hands on the floor and everything. She really loves music. (my dad will be excited... he is very musical)
Hi everyone - i'm at work today but thought I would send a quick hello to everyone.
We are going well too - Allegra is so independent and loves to do EVERYTHING herself.
I cant believe how quick the time goes - it felt like yesterday she was a tiny baby and now she is actually a little girl.. I put her hair in little tiny pigtails and she looks so gorgeous... ok my lunch has arrived and I am straving
speak soon guys
happy to say my ultrasound went really well. bubs is big and healthy. heart rate 158 bpm and bubs moving heaps. got some cute pics of what looks like bub sucking his/her thumb and some great profile pics.
We are on Ibiza right now, an island in the mediterranian. Very nice. We are renting a villa here and my mom and sister-in-law are here with her 3 kids. Great family holiday. The kids are having so much fun.
Zara is totally smitten with her baby cousin Jana (4 months old) ... I guess that bodes well
Narelle, that's great to hear re. u/s ... hmmm... my guess would be for a girl with a heart rate of 158 ...
Teena, are you back at work now for good? Or can you keep flexible hours?
Zara keeps saying new words, it's so cool. She can say her cousin Till's name and her cousin Mia comes out as "meee" and the baby Jana as "jaja" (close enough i reckon). She is a cheeky little monkey and very strong willed and just so much fun (and sometimes very frustrating, lol).
Snowy- Yes I still have 4 kilos to loose as well. Think I have given up too, LOL. Might have to go slow on the cheese this time. I ate 1kg of cheese a WEEK for 4 weeks and during m/s. I think that is where the extra 5kg came from, PMSL. Have fun on your holiday!
Narelle- Yay on Aiden walking. Kayla didn't like shoes to start with as was scared of them. She is no problems at all now, so I am sure Aiden will come around. Glad your ultrasound went well too. 158bpm..... sounds like a girl to me!
Sarah- Yuck on the m/s. Hoping it eases for you real soon.
Katie- Glad to hear you arrived safely. Sorry to hear that you and Ben were sick. Where abouts in Aus are you? Sorry missed it in previous convo's LOL.
Teena- Good to hear from you. Glad to hear that miss Allegra is going well! Are you back at work full-time now?
Us- Nothing new really. Kayla is doing well. She is a real little actress that one. I will defiantely put her into drama lessons at school, LOL. She has so many expressions, it's too funny. Can be a little stubborn sometimes too. Drives me crazy some days, hahaha!
Dummies- Do any of your toddlers still use a dummy for sleeping? Kayla still does and lately has become quite attached to it. She only has it for sleep and never wakes with it of a night time or anything. But lately, if she sees it during the day, she will want it. So I have to hide them. Some days she will ask for it though. don't know if it is from teething or what..... She is quite attached to her wrap as well. Ever since I weaned her from the wrap at 8mths old, she has had it to cuddle in bed. I am fine with this though, and she can ahve it for as long as she wants.
I use to leave the wrap and dummy in her bed when I got her out, but she doesn't seem to want to leave her bed without the wrap or dummy these days.
Nadine - Harry is the EXACT same, he is very attached to his wrap and his dummy, only has them for sleeping but if we are up near his cot he will sneak in and grab them both and his little stuffed ducky that he adores, although when i go to get him from bed he knows its no dummy time so he takes it out and puts it beside the wrap.
HELLO! Finally. I didnt realise how busy i would be! It's so difficult being a "single parent" for 6 weeks. Ben is so active. Im having an awesome time here. At the moment Im in Tassie visiting my Mum. It's great being around family again. Dh arrives on the 16th July, so not too long now.
Ben has progressed soooooooooooo fast, words can even begin to explain! He gives "high fives", says words randomly. Especially when he is plaing with his 2 cousins. A couple of weeks ago we were in the car and the two kids (2 and 5) were saying "hello doggy, look a doggy, hello doggy...." and Ben just casually says "Hello Doggy!" clear as clear can be! The only people who heard him was me and my nephew (5). At least i could share that with someone, even if it is a 5 year old!
He really interacts with everyone, its amazing. I cant wait for Dh to arrive so he can tell me how much Ben really has changed since we left!
Im doing well. Dramas in the family though. It must be me attracting all this drama! it follows me everywhere! in the first week my dad and evil step-mum had a fight, she kicked him out.. leaving me and Ben to find somewhere else to stay. We ended up going to my Bestfriends house, which was fine. Nearly missed my flight to Tassie, Floods in Gippsland etc.. it never stops. I was so angry at my step-mum though.. LONG STORY, had nothing to do with me, but now i've decided not to include her in my life. It's about time.
Well, i should go, the Cat is meowing at me... wonder what she wants.
Take care!!
And Nadine. Im sorry i cant help you there, ben only used a dummy for the first couple of weeks, he is a thumb sucker. He doesnt seem to be attatched to anything either (like a teddy or blanket).
Im also looking at buying a toddler behaviour book. Ben has started acting up a little bit, and i have no idea how to stop him from doing things he isnt supposed to be doing (hitting or getting into things). Since telling him off doesnt do any good, he doesnt understand, and "NO!" is funny apparently. I refuse to smack him.... Wow, im so looking forward to the "terrible twos", Not. Any good books out there?
Sarah- Oh glad to hear Kayla is't the only one LOL. I have finally bit the bullet and made her leave them in her cot before she gets up. She was a bit whingey the first day or two, but now is pretty much fine with it. I say "ta for the wrap" and she hands it to me. I then hang it on the cot. The dummy she isn't so willing to give up, but she does let got with her mouth if I pull on it. Yesterday though. after her nap, she said "ta" and gave me both the wrap and dummy without asking. So I think we are back on track
Katie- Oh not long till hubby joins you. I bet you will be glad to see him. Sorry to hear about your family troubles. Hope they sort themselves out. As for the toddler book, my clinic nurse recommended :Toddler Taming. I bought it and it is a VERY good and easy read, and I found his tips very helpful.
Another question: Kayla still has a bottle of milk (200ml) 3 times a day (mid morning, early afternoon, and 30min before bed of an evening). She usues Avent bottles and uses the spouts not the teat. So I don't think the spout will do as much damage to her teeth as a teat is meant to, so I am not "overly" concerned. But I will have to wean her eventually and would like to do it before she is 2. So my questions are:
Is your toddler weaned off the bottle/breast? How did you switch them to a cup?
She uses a tommy tippee straw cup for her water, and I have tried milk in it but she won't take it. It's like she "knows" it is meant to be for water, and the bottle is for milk.
TIA for any advice. I might post in another section about it too
@Nadine
Zara gets a bottle at night and in the mornings a glass, so we have not had to deal with that quite yet... I have tried a glass in the evening a few times and she has been quite okay with it, BUT I remember with Wolf that he never drank any milk from the glass it was so weird. I totally weaned him of bottles when he turned 1 year and gave him a glass every evening but he hardly drank anything for a while. Now he is much better. I don't know what it is but don't worry too much, it will change. You can also try making a light chocolate milk for breakie or give yoghurt or cheese for lunch instead of the lunch time bottle.
re. the dummy, Wolf is totally hooked on his dummy and for a while it was really hard to take it from him at day time. he still sleeps with it and if he sees it will put it in his mouth.
Zara is only interested in nicking it from him and running away with it, lol, but if you give her one she spits it out shortly after.
@ Katie
omg that sounds like such a drama with your step mum. how nasty... that must have been quite bad to leave after just 1 week, you guys must have still been jetlagged!
the photo on the ticker of ben is sooooooo cute!! he looks like such a big boy!!
it's so funny re. you wanting a book on toddlers cause i had the same thing with Wolf. When he was that age, I went and bought a stack of books because I was at the end of my wits with him.
What I do these days when he is naughty is that I put him in his cot for a time out. I started that when he was about 16 months I think... can't quite remember ... I found it a very trying time with Wolf... Zara so far (fingers crossed) is much easier in that respect...
News from us? hmmm
Ibiza was great, the kids loved hanging out with each other. At the moment MIL and SIL are over from Sydney and it's raining cats and dogs not fair. Last weekend we went to my niece's christening in Germany and this weekend we have a wedding in Wales... busy busy busy and flying with 2 little kids can be quite exhausting...
