Nic- Only reason we're bothering with baptism is my hypocritical MIL insisting he be baptised Catholic. I keep telling myself that if I don't believe it's just water on his head. Won't do him any harm. We're booked in to do it on Aug 3. Unmarried, non- religious parents apparentley not an issue

With the sterilizing thing, according to Barb, the LC on the feeding forums, and the ABA, breast fed babies don't really require sterilising anything- just a good clean with hot soapy water and at least two rinses with hot water, and dummies just scalded in freshly boiled water for 5 minutes, not actually boiled up. And I was told by my gp that the only reason sterilizing became an issue was a few irresponsible people who think that just giving the bottle a quick rinse in cold water is enough, so they say to sterilize to cover that factor. Obviously in hospitals it's different, and for newborns who have infections or low immune systems. I still sterilize my expresser, more because it's become a good routine- wash after use, the throw in the sterilizer (which lives in the microwave) for next use. Saves me washing it then washing it again before I use it next.
Yay! Mum's group tomorrow. But then it's off to the dentist for me *chilling music plays in the background as Lori imagines needles and drills*
