Things have settled down a bit here. Emily was a little angel the very next day after I wrote. She was in a perfect routine and I had so much time I was getting bored waiting for her to wake up for the next feed. We have been out for the last two days with grams (my mum) and it has given me a break when I needed it. Emily should be asleep now but grams is enjoying cuddles and so I am just letting her have them as I am home all afternoon/evening and can manage an unsettledness as a result.
Orange: Can't believe he already has teeth! Emily is not looking like rolling anytime soon either but not worried The other babies around us her age started this week (they are 1 week and 2 weeks older) ..she will do it eventually.
Ren: exciting about the roll! Can't wait to see Emily do it but she does not seem like she is ready....lazy bubba!
disgirl: Hope this coming week is a better one. It must be hard without help when bub is being unsettled.
Hope you all had a very special day.... We had a wonderful day! Went to Dh's parents place for lunch and Mum was there too. It was great having all the grandparents together with DD for the first time
MIL bought me some gifts for mothers day for Ava! So special. A beautiful teddy bear with her name printed on it's t-shirt.. cute! And a wall frame with the name Ava on it and what it means etc.... beautiful.
We bought a grobag type thing from Pumpkin Patch yesterday on special. I can't wait to put DD in it when it is dry. Just washed it.
Tonight is the first night we are trying DD just wrapped with her lower half wrapped only and her arms out.... wish me luck!!! I think she's just about finished being wrapped. She is always getting out of it.

Lovely to hear about everyones Mothers Day......it is so special, particularly the first time !! But even when you have a 2nd or 3rd bub, I can tell you it is still SO special. I feel so blessed with 2 lovely children. I tried to do the 8km mothers day classic, but my right calf got very strained and I had to pull out of the race. I was pretty disappointed as I was in the top 5 women, BUT then I realised what mothers day really meant to me, and that there would be other races again...
Ella Bear - yes, I have been checking ebay for grobags - did some bidding but still many are going for very close to retail price (and 2nd hand) so I will keep trying.
Mel A - would like to know the details of the snugtime sale, so will PM you, thanks!
Ren - Yes, we have to meet up - I live in Mermaid Beach so we could meet somewhere in between ? Does Ava like the pram now? Just thinking of doing a walk/cafe thing - anyway, I will PM you. thanks!!!
Ren and others who use cloth -- Amara has grown out of prefolds and almost out of small BBH AIOs so now we are using BBH AIO mediums. The sad thing is, my hubby is so negative about cloth nappies, thinks it makes no difference. A shame he feels like this I think! oh well.
Runner, what a shame your DH isn't a fan of cloth Not only does it make a difference to landfill and financially, but also on our kiddoes bottoms! After Ben had a really bad, bleeding nappy rash is when I decided to try cloth. Now Ben has a reaction when he wears sposies! Jared is still only part time cloth, but we use BBH bamboo fitted for him and he now has them folded the same way and on the same snaps as Ben! He's only in the medium covers though while Ben is in large. Having two in cloth, I find the BBH fitted to be fantastic as they can both wear the same nappies
Wow, I waffled a bit there!
I'm doing much better today. Getting longer sleeps and starting to get some housework done. Makes a big difference We're off to the clinic today because I have a few questions about both boys. Main one being how to get a toddler to like baths again. Ben's on a bath strike. He used to love them before his ear infections
hi everyone,
Di's girl - yeah - BBH bamboo fitted nappies are great - I have only 2 of them but like them alot and I can see why if you have 2 in nappies, it would be even better!
Bath time - I remember having this issue with Logan, now age 6. I think I got in the bath with him or gave him a new toy for distraction. Well, now he takes showers or about once a week a nice deep bath for relaxation, which he needs.
Anyway, best of luck with the nurse - tell me what she suggests, be interesting to know.
I just got a sleeping bag (no sleeves) from ebay - it was $10 all up including postage. Not a grobag, but very similar. Still using the miracle blanket on Amara at this stage, but not for much longer...
Dis - yeap try a new toy in the bath, just cups even or bubbles or some food dye and make the water blue or green or something. works a treat (it won't stain his skin or bath). or turn the lights off and shine a torch - anything to make it a bit different and fun for a while.
Might need some BBH's I think...ohh I love cloth! Still qzueezing H into small BPs. Really need to order him some new medium inserts.
H is STILL poohing for Australia. About 10 times a day (usually a one per day pooper) so stillnot 100% and can't be puting on any weight at this rate. Got to just wait it out though. Had a few days of blood free nappies but have a few streaks again now. Bugger!!!
oK 2 TODDLLERS SCREAMING FOR LUNCH................ (sorry H hit caps lock!)
Ah!! I just had two drinks and I feel MUCH better.....
It's been one of those days today.... DD hardly slept and only slept total of 1hr 50mins from 6am until 6am!!! Exhausting.... she was hysterical by this arvo from exhaustion and would not calm down so I climbed into bed with her in my arm and she fell asleep next to me then I carefully moved her to her cot and she hasn't woken its been 1hr 20mins so hopefully she'll stay asleep for a while now. I am not even going to wake her for that 10pm dream feed. No way.
DD LOVES her bath time. She loves water and she starts her swimming lessons in 3 weeks I can't wait!!!
Disgirl & runner- we have BBH fitteds here too! They are so nice. Although I still find them to be quite big on DD even on the newborn setting LOL She's petite. I find it annoying to have to put a cover on it also so I think I prefer AIO's at the moment. Although she's a light wetter so its not too bad i dont always need that cover on top.
Well we are 95% cloth nappies now so pretty much full time!!!! I only have about 15 disposbales left and using them up slowly.... although good to have some around as back up.
That's all i can manage for now. im exhausted and going to have a shower and help DH with dinner he's had a big day too.
Soph: Hope Henry starts to get better soon. Nothing worse than a sick babe!
Ren and Sonie: DD went to swimming lessons from 5 months old. The best thing we ever did. She was 'diving' from the side by 11 months and running across a water mat and throwing herself off the edge into the water....all the bubs were (that were standing/walking and started lessons early that is). Dash wont be going to Spring. Even though the pool is heated it is very cold when getting out of the water and with two it is hard to get dressed quickly, especially when I am dripping wet as well. A good tip is to take a dressing gown for bubs so you can quickly dry bubs and get them warm. Then you can put a nappy on underneath without compromising their warmth (and they aren't still wrapped in a wet towel) iykwim. Just a thought.
Dis: Great weight from Jared...you must have some magic milk!! You should be very proud that your bubba boy is growing to be strong and healthy.
AFM: Dash is still only drinking 120mL-150mL at a time. Actually, he hasn't had much to drink at all last couple of days. He screams when he is feeding which tells me that reflux is playing up and meds need to be increased yet again. He has started to vomit again as well. I was told by the paed that it would peak at 4 months....how right he was! I gave Dash some Farex today. That was the only thing he kept down today and he handled it well - openend his mouth, tongued the food and looked for more. Hopefully we are on to something in terms of settling the reflux, but still early days yet. Shouldn't complain because other than the mess of reflux, Dash is a really 'easy' happy bub (thank God). He settled today as usual in his cot even though he was hungry and upset....can't ask for anything more particularly when you are having a tricky day. Doctors appointment is on Thursday so can't wait for that.
We have vaccinations on Thursday as well and a weigh in. Dash was 6.4 kg at last visit so it will be interesting to see what he is now. Dash also rolled from back to front on his 4 month birthday and hasn't stopped since.....so no more wrapping. He also prefers to stand and can push from sitting position to standing only holding onto my fingers, then he balances whilst laughing. So strong and too cute. DD made Dash a cup of tea with her musical tea set today and pulled a frilly dress over his arms. She pushed him in his bouncer over to her table. Dash also thought this was funny and they had a tea party together for quite some time. I hope that when he is on the move they will start interacting with each other and play freeing up some time for me (even if just to go to the loo by myself he he).
Anyway, fun times ahead. Dash's double tooth is still pushing though so maybe it wont go down?? How bizarre. Only time will tell. DD had trouble free teething. She got her first tooth at 8 months and her last teeth (2 year old molars) by 12 months and was all too easy. I really didn't expect Dash to have a tooth breaking through this early. He also has heavy pitting in the front bottom gums....not too far away at all. This has really turned into a me post so will stop there. If you have read this far then you are a legend!!
Orange, yay for Dash rolling! I'm thinking J will never roll! Ben NEVER rolled back to front, but rolled front to back before he was three months. J just doesn't seem interested. He does love to stand though, when I hold his fingers like you do with Dash. He also loves to sit and almost has the balance thing worked out. He sits just holding on to one finger and sometimes can sit on our lap unsupported for a minute or so
Thanks again for the tips with the baths girls, I'm going to try and find a Thomas bath toy for Ben. Jared loves, loves, loves the bath. He'd stay in there all day if we'd let him. I hope Ben gets that back soon.
We're going to start swimming lessons when we get back into our routine, probably next school term. The boys are still all over the place after being sick, but last night was promising
Dis, a friend of mine had a similar problem and bought a cheap bubble machine (around $20) and set up in the bathroom. I would imagine that the floor could get a little slippery though. Maybe even just some bubbles in a bottle would do or the ones that don't burst. What about bath crayons, they are fun!? Hopefully he just needs a little encouragement to be reminded just how much fun a bath is!! Let us know how you go.
Is it more common for them to roll back to front or front to back first, can't remember. DD rolled back to front first as well when she was 100 days old. She crawled properly at 5 months and a week.....so very early but she is hypermobile. Dis, funny you mentioned about Jared sitting.....DD didn't sit unsupported until 8 months old (even though she had been crawling for 3 month)....work that one out! They are all different and unique!! Hope Dash takes his time though.
ETA: DH and I have spent all weekend and last couple of nights sorting out the garage so I can now use the treadmill. I spend about an hour a day sitting outside watching DD play so now I can walk on the treadmill when I watch her play. Can't wait. Have a couple more rooms in the house to sort so should get started on the treadmill on the weekend.
