Hi ladies,
Amy has put on 100g in 3 days! Yay! Although the maxalon isn't working as well as it should be because when I express I'm only getting about 30ml at a time and it's not increasing. So am off to see a naturopath to see what they can do. If that doesn't work, I will join the ranks of formula feeding mummies seeing as I will have done EVERYTHING in my power to get these boobies working. The thought of formula feeding doesn't worry me but I would always wonder if I didn't try. So wish me luck! At least Amy's putting on weight though. That's the main thing.
April - I curse proactive every time it comes on because it usually means that the only other thing to watch is the tele evangelists....No thanks! I've never watched so much tv in my life. I can't believe how raunchy some of those late night ads are too!!
Jo - I know what you mean about them being houdinis!! Amy will wriggle and wriggle and wriggle until she at least gets a couple of fingers out of the wrap! Hahaha.
Thanks for all the well wishes ladies. I'm just looking forward to giving this naturopath a go and if that doesn't work, finally getting a long term plan for feeding into action. Well I am still waiting for baby to come, Alexander my eldest son's birthday was on Thursday last week and now coming up to my third son's 2nd birthday on Friday. Let's see if I can birth this baby right in the middle.
Baby number 4 feels like he is going to fall out any moment and BH are getting stronger but are still irregular. There is so much pressure down below (TMI), I don't know why he hasn't come out yet. I am so close to not being pregnant again - but it feels like this is taking forever.
I want to be holding my baby like you girls!!!
To stop sounding totally self-absorbed... for any of you ladies who are having problems with breast feeding, i.e. attachment issues, weight issues etc - I went to a lactation consultant after my second son was born because he was a naughty, greedy and impatient baby (according to the doctor) lol - I found her to be really supportive because I was having a terrible time, and a terrible time keeping my milk up.
Anyway thought I would add that piece of breast feeding info...so it is not just all pregnant poor old me whinging in your ears.

I havent posted in a while been a bit busy with Riley and Kinder and 2 children is a little different than one IYKWIM!But all is well with Jemma she is growing rapidly as far as I know anyway but see the health nurse today so shes on as of yesterday evrey second feed of formula due to me being over feeding already
I love it in lots of ways but hate it in others guess i should just get over it as I have never had any dramas with feeding with both kidlets but I just dont think its really for me thats all feel selfish when some of you really wanted to do it but cant or couldnt but I spose everyones different hey at least I can say I am getting her off to a good start with Breast milk and then swapping to formula hopefully wont be too scrutinsed (sp?) by the older generation of family
So I am thinking by six weeks (she is 4weeks tomorrow) I will wean her off totally for me I know but she doesnt mind the bottle at all
Ummm has anyone had poo issues I am wondering if its the formula... But she hasnt pooed in 4 or 5 days Argh and before that it was heaps then went to one every second day now nothing!??? I know they can go upto 10days without a poo though so not too worried just would like her to be more regular so we dont get that power poo soon that goes everywhere Aaahhhh

Sorry I have been MIA for the past few days, just been busy with everything and packing for our move IYKWIM!
Kristie, on the breastfeeding issue, it really wasn't for me either. I really praise all those women out there that perservere with it, cracked/bleeding/sore nipples and everything! I certainly couldn't keep going, I was crying at every feed and there was no way I was going to be unhappy as I'm sure Madeleine was picking up on it! She's now a FF baby and is super healthy and happy. I don't find making up the bottles a hassle at all. Good luck with the poo issue...Madeleine does a big one every day and it goes everywhere....!

Well we are moving on Saturday so I will be MIA for a while as the internet at our new place won't be up and running until approximately 20 February so I won't be coming on at all for a while. Don't worry though, I'll be back before you know it. I'm sure you won't miss me...always so much else to talk about, lol

Kristielee, dont know about the poo thing. Celeste is having spraypoos almost every feed still. She is 10days younger than Jemma though and BF only. Maybe the FF is why?
Nik, So glad that Amy is putting on weight! It really makes you feel you are doing a great job doesnt it? Hope things continue to work out for you in that area.
As for late night tv, phleeeuurgh. Terrible. At least when I was in hospital the tennis was on, not that I paid much attention. The nurses would come in and comment on it and I would realise that I had been staring vacantly at it for ages lol. Brain not engaged at that time hehe.
On the feeding topic: I am so happy that everyone in here is so understanding and supportive of each other. We are all individuals and so are our gorgeous bubs and each situation is different for each of us. I have really struggled with the BF thing but we are slowly getting there and I am determined to keep going. That said, I am totally in agreeance with you all that for those that it doesnt work out for FF is the way to go!!! There is no point having a miserable time for the first months of your relationship together, where all your memories are clouded by the misery of feeding problems. Same goes for co-sleeping or cloth nappies, dummies or whatever else.
Question: those of you that co-sleep, how exactly does it work? Like if bub goes to sleep at 8pm do you put him/her in your big bed till you go in there later? What about when they get more mobile? Do they sleep in the cot in the daytime? How do you stop them from going under the covers? Just curious.
Celeste has developed a routine of snacking on and off all evening, like every half hour to hourly. Then she goes off for a proper sleep around 9 or 10pm. She sleeps for around 4+1/2hours but then is awake for at least 2 hours till she goes off for another 4 or so hours. It is driving me crazy! Last night she was awake from 12.30 till after 3.30am!!! I am so glad I went to bed at 9.30 when she did! I dont know how to fix this. I am trying to wake her every 3 hours in the daytime for a feed to make her sleepier at night but dont know if this is setting up a pattern of needing smaller, more frequent feeds in the night too. Any suggestions? Also, I thought maybe a dummy would help to settle her so she doesnt think she needs a feed all that time she is awake but she doesnt seem to want one. Maybe this is confusing her? Aargh, I just dont know!

Hi Sazz, the issues you are having with Celeste sound just like me last week.... I felt like absoloute cr@p lol!! I didn't do anything to 'fix' it though, she just seemed to settle down on her own, felt like she was permanently feeding for a while there though, she's not perfect now ofcourse but has been sleeping better at night. The major issue is that she WILL NOT go down after her afternoon sleep until atleast 11pm... Some people have said they have growth spurts around 2 & 4 weeks so perhaps that was/is it??
As for co-sleeping, Scally has been sleeping in her cot during the day then she comes to bed with me when she feels like going down at 11.
My princess won't have a dummy either... much to my dissappointment

Thanks QM, it is nice to know that things are normal even when they dont feel like it! It makes me feel better to know that others have/are experiencing the same things. Not that I want others to have sleepless nights and sore boobs but YKWIM!
Sore boobies: We are sort of getting the hang of the left boob now also but dont have the technique quite right yet. There are a few small cracks there and that doesnt help with getting her on properly either. Have CYH nurse here in a few minutes so hope to get that sorted a bit better today. I am wondering if she is not getting as much out of that side as it is quite throbby and painful deep in the breast tissue, not just the nipple, like it isnt draining properly. Must sort that out too... better write a list me thinks.

Mab, dont worry about the no dummy issue my first was the same he would not take a dummy for anything (not that we needed it) but once he started teething he took it and still has it now (but I could take it away permanently and he'd be fine without it). So Scally may be the same, sheesh that dummy has been a lifesaver with the teething!
Rips sometimes takes a dummy but spits it out after a min or two and then gets cranky. Guess he's going to be the same as big brother.
Sazz, little Madeleine just comes into bed with us when we go to bed, at around 9.30pm. She's so cute sleeping with Mummy. As for through the day, hmmm Madeleine won't go in her cot at all, she's definately a bouncer girl.
Madeleine also spits out her dummy too but sometimes takes it, goes to sleep with it and then spits it out a few minutes later with a "disgusted" look on her face, it's so funny.

Yes - just further on what Karen had said about the Lactation specialist. I also saw one both times for my bubs. They are good & can help big time with attachment issues. But even having said that I still have decided to give Jackson the best of both. That is breast & bottle - it works well for us. So whatever makes you both happy is the go
Jackson had his visit with the child nurse yesterday & he is going strong like a trooper! He's put on 500 + Gms so we're happy about that. And he is looking pretty healthy to us
Karen - Just noticed you've had your bub!! WooHoo Congrats to you! You must be ecstatic of course. Rest Up & enjoy!

Hi all!
Havent posted in a few days, have been tired and stressed and teary. Had my first bout of feeling like nothing but a big boob, with a restless, clingy and hungry baby. Had forgotton who I was. Have been taking some time out away from Bubs each day and feeling a little better.
Saw child health nurse for our first appt yesterday. Adleine has put on 650g since birth! What a porker!
She originally lost more than her 10% at dc, and we were supposed to weigh her twice in the first week, but never got around to it- she looked so healthy, was eating, weeing and pooping well, and the family all thought she was putting on weight. But it was still a surprise for that much weight!
At least I can feel certain that she is getting enough BB milk, I think I must be incredibly lucky, reading about everyones BFing dramas. I must be one of the few who are exclsively BFing. I do admire evrone who is persevering or figuring out their feeding regimes, or happily formula feeding (whatever works!)
At least I can be reassured that my frequent feeds are going in the right place!

Kristie, the nurse told me yesterday that If i have any trouble with bubs poops going too long, just eat some prunes! Its prob the introduction of the formula and she will sort out soon!
Bindy, good luck on the move, I reckon by the time you sort out the house I will be able to drive again and we can meet up!
Sazz, Celestes routine ('routine' said tongue in cheek, hey!) sounds like us. Different each day, frustrating regularly. Oh its good to know we are not alone!
Carol, congratulations on Jacksons healthy weight gain! We also have the dry skin, I have been putting a little alpha keri oil in her bath which seems to help!
