I WANT THE REPLY BUTTON BACK!

Jen, Billy doesn't like his rocker much either. I took the toys off it and he likes it a little better. I want one of those old fashioned bouncer net things. I'm going to find one! I'm glad you all had some sleep last night too! Oh and Billy's not big on going for walks either - not for too long anyway.

Jo, the song is "hey Jo, where you going with that gun in your hand..." probably made most famous by Hendrix. Sorry, I'm old. pmsl!

Jess, I think I heard that things do effect your milk. Maybe he doesn't like onions! I think I would've been in tears if I were you last night. Good for you for handling it by yourself. I am feeding BTK when he wants to be fed. Lucky for me, it's pretty much every 4 hours. Oh and by the way, you know you were asking about when to bath them? Well, I bathed him last night instead of the morning, right after a feed - I ended up wearing it!

Spent $50 printing photos. They're awesome. I'm so pleased. Got about 200 done! pmsl! I'm so excessive! Looked up Centrelink Jo - getting paid this week. THANK GOD!

BTK is yelling at himself. I'll be back later.

    Hi ladies,

I'm exactly the same in the mornings. Amy wants to eat every two hours and in between feeds if I put her down she's ok for 15 minutes and then wants a cuddle. It is very difficult to have brekky and shower etc. Sometimes I just have to let her cry if we are going somewhere and I NEED to get ready.

Weird one for you - yesterday I noticed Amy's feet were getting really fat but when I took her long pants off, I realised it wasn't because she was putting on weight, it was because they were swollen! Then I saw that her left hand and fingers were swollen and the knuckles were all red but her thumb was fine! Then last night at 1am her other hand swelled up too! I went to the doctor this morning but he's not worried. He thinks it's just from a bug bite or something and she's had a reaction to it. She's happy and it doesn't seem to be painful for her so I guess I shouldn't worry but I can't help it. Her feet seem to have improved now. Just waiting on her hands now. He said that if they haven't improved in 2 days we need to do a blood test. but hopefully they are getting better already. There's always something to worry about with these little ones isn't there!?

We've got our first clinic appointment this afternoon. Cross your fingers that her weight is going well and we can start to live a normal feeding life again. I'm really looking forward to just feeding her on demand and not having to wake her up for feeds. I might even be able to use a dummy too just for some sanity. Haven't been able to yet because of the feeding issues and they weren't sure whether her sucking was ok. She's really good but just in the afternoons when she just won't settle without being held. That's when I'd like to use a dummy.

Well, I better get going and stuff myself full of food so that if I miss a meal later on at least I've topped myself up! Hehehe. Managed to have brekky at 11am this morning because of the doc appointment!

Jo - I would change the teats according to age. I haven't looked to see whether I should get new ones for the Tommee Tippee ones yet. I've got the slow flow ones at the moment. Not sure what age they go to but if I need to I'll get the other ones......

jen - don't feel guilty for topping up. I've been doing it for about ten days now and Amy is a lot more content. She wasn't getting enough and not putting on enough weight. They won't eat more than they can fit in. Amy stops sucking and gets cranky when she doesn't want anymore of the bottle and just comes off the boob when she's had enough. I don't think you can overfeed a baby. They won't eat if they don't want it. Amy's like that with walks. You think that you've gotten away with getting out of the house and then bub decides Nope, no more fun for you. I feel guilty when she cries too because I've taken her out of her comfort zone.....I'm hopeless like that though....

jess - i wouldn't try to keep Jaylen up during the day cos you end up with a really cranky baby all day and the possibility that he won't go down at night either. No fun at all. Really you just need to let them do what they want to do until they are older. If everything is going well weight wise, feed him when he wants and then let him sleep when he wants. The biggest thing to do is sleep when he sleeps. that gives you a (tiny) bit more energy for if he's up at night. That's what i do anyway.....even though there are so many chores that need to be done!

well, sorry for the long post and sorry to miss people but I've gotta go eat something. Hope you are all doing well. Let me know if anyone else has had the swelling problem or heard of it......maybe I need to get a different formula.....we're on S26 at the moment but everyone I've spoken to has raved about NAN......

Thanks for the reassurance everyone. I dont think I was at all prepared for a newborn. We go through are they hot/cold, wet, hungry and then if they still cry I get frustrated.
Jess- Amber is getting the hiccups too. I wonder if there is anything we can do to fix it or to just leave it be.
Carol- The formula we are topping Amber up on is Karicare. This morning she was suckling on me sometimes drinking every hour I reckon. Just when I thought she couldnt eat anymore, DP gave her some formula and she guzzled it down. Maybe because she is such a big baby. Then I worry she eats too much. She did put on 190 grams in 4 days....
Kate- I am with you on the tears. I am having a cry daily. Ben has been fantastic. I wouldnt know what to do without him. I will mention the feeding to the Maternal health nurse. She has not called yet but I called them yesterday and they do have my birth notice.

Well little miss has stirred after being down 15 minutes.

    Not a good day.

    Afternoon everyone

Hope all is well in your worlds, getting enough food, sleep and time out!

Jess I second what the other girls said, sometimes it seems that what I eat gives Addy discomfort later. I think rich tomato dishes and garlic- she was really grizzly after pizza!! and spaghetti bolognese
You make up your own mind about how you are gonna raise Jaylen, hun. Lots of people will give advice and there is the 'demand feeding' camp and the 'rigid routine' camp. read as much as you can, and whatver works for you and jaylen will be right. I go with the flow with Addy, feed her when she cries etc.

Jen, again, I second that you cant overfeed! I think all the babies on here are going through clingy times and just want mum. My poor DH could not settle her last night, and I could see him getting frustrated cause as soon as he gave her to me she quietened down! Maybe she is doing some comfort sucking too. Thats why some mums resort to the dummy?! I bought one today, might try it on evenings when I cannot feed enough and my BBs are getting sore!

kate, good one on the photos. I printed 117 photos last weeks and are doing a (very bad job) scrapbook at the moment!

Nik, that swelling would be a little nervewracking. Hope it calms down soon.

Well, I tried Addy on her first bootle of EBM last night. 30ml- drunk straight down! was amazed- she had no hesitation to go back on the boob afterwards either.
Now I am off to a mothers group this afternoon, near to home. Should be interesting, not sure if there are any 'babies' Addys age or not. cant hurt to check it out.
Speaking of meeting- Bris girls are you ready for a meeting?? Maybe end of next week? I can drive wherever!

Kate- never heard of the song before, will look on Limewire later and have a listen.

Mary- my family go home on Feb 23rd so anytime after that i'd be right for a meet up, Chris is on night shift for a week and goes back to day shift next thursday so he'd be able to drop me off wherever otherwise i'll be using public transport.

Carol- when you were choosing your ticker did it gve you the option to add a photo?, i know that the ticker factory i used gave me the options.

Nik- yeah i bought some '2' avent teats and have started using them already as Sophie seemed to be sucking the life out of the '1's'.

Ladies after reading your stories of troubles getting bubs to settle and struggling to have time to get ready, eat & shower i feel so bad that Sophie sleeps between feeds lets me eat & shower and she loves her bouncer & pram. Chris bought Sophie avent dummies and she loves them and we use them to settle her and when shes had enough of it she spits the dummy
Has anyone elses bubs already trying to roll from their tummies to their backs?, because we gave Sophie some tummy time last night on her activity gym and she pretty much went from her tummy to her back but she rolled against the arm of the activity gym.
