Hi ladies,

I'm exactly the same in the mornings. Amy wants to eat every two hours and in between feeds if I put her down she's ok for 15 minutes and then wants a cuddle. It is very difficult to have brekky and shower etc. Sometimes I just have to let her cry if we are going somewhere and I NEED to get ready.

Weird one for you - yesterday I noticed Amy's feet were getting really fat but when I took her long pants off, I realised it wasn't because she was putting on weight, it was because they were swollen! Then I saw that her left hand and fingers were swollen and the knuckles were all red but her thumb was fine! Then last night at 1am her other hand swelled up too! I went to the doctor this morning but he's not worried. He thinks it's just from a bug bite or something and she's had a reaction to it. She's happy and it doesn't seem to be painful for her so I guess I shouldn't worry but I can't help it. Her feet seem to have improved now. Just waiting on her hands now. He said that if they haven't improved in 2 days we need to do a blood test. but hopefully they are getting better already. There's always something to worry about with these little ones isn't there!?

We've got our first clinic appointment this afternoon. Cross your fingers that her weight is going well and we can start to live a normal feeding life again. I'm really looking forward to just feeding her on demand and not having to wake her up for feeds. I might even be able to use a dummy too just for some sanity. Haven't been able to yet because of the feeding issues and they weren't sure whether her sucking was ok. She's really good but just in the afternoons when she just won't settle without being held. That's when I'd like to use a dummy.

Well, I better get going and stuff myself full of food so that if I miss a meal later on at least I've topped myself up! Hehehe. Managed to have brekky at 11am this morning because of the doc appointment!

Jo - I would change the teats according to age. I haven't looked to see whether I should get new ones for the Tommee Tippee ones yet. I've got the slow flow ones at the moment. Not sure what age they go to but if I need to I'll get the other ones......

jen - don't feel guilty for topping up. I've been doing it for about ten days now and Amy is a lot more content. She wasn't getting enough and not putting on enough weight. They won't eat more than they can fit in. Amy stops sucking and gets cranky when she doesn't want anymore of the bottle and just comes off the boob when she's had enough. I don't think you can overfeed a baby. They won't eat if they don't want it. Amy's like that with walks. You think that you've gotten away with getting out of the house and then bub decides Nope, no more fun for you. I feel guilty when she cries too because I've taken her out of her comfort zone.....I'm hopeless like that though....

jess - i wouldn't try to keep Jaylen up during the day cos you end up with a really cranky baby all day and the possibility that he won't go down at night either. No fun at all. Really you just need to let them do what they want to do until they are older. If everything is going well weight wise, feed him when he wants and then let him sleep when he wants. The biggest thing to do is sleep when he sleeps. that gives you a (tiny) bit more energy for if he's up at night. That's what i do anyway.....even though there are so many chores that need to be done!

well, sorry for the long post and sorry to miss people but I've gotta go eat something. Hope you are all doing well. Let me know if anyone else has had the swelling problem or heard of it......maybe I need to get a different formula.....we're on S26 at the moment but everyone I've spoken to has raved about NAN......
