    hi all,

typing this with one hand as i have Georgie in the other. Question - when do you know bubs is ready for some play time? I thought it was at about 3 wks but Georgie is having awake time after feeds, she's not unsettled just awake. She is only 13 days old.

This is probably just an old wives tale but my mum told me the other day if you eat 2-3 minties throughout the day it will assist with wind. Georgie only occasionally seems to be very winding but I've bough some minties anyway. If nothing else it is an excuse to eat lollies!

Had a pretty good night last night, she was waking every 2-3 hours for a feed but going straight to sleep so happy with that. However, she does have this amazing ability to pee after I've taken off. Very happy she is not a boy as I'm sure I would have coped a face full a number of times.

I replied to your other post Bridee!
Oh, I might grab some Minties, as Zyon just wont burp, but farts like a trooper & then wakes up in pain....
He woke a fair bit last night, so I gave him a dummy & slept with him next to me in bed, he slept for 3 hours!
I am so tired between him & Indah, but I just keep reminding myself it's not forever!!!!

Tracey I do exactly what you do with regard to breastfeeding, feed 1 side, when she's asleep change nappy and feed again from the same side until she either is asleep or shows no interest ie. won't open her mouth.

    Hi all,

Just checking in - I haven't dropped off the face of the earth

Recovery has been slow and its hard for me to sit on the computer chair. 3rd degree tear has not been fun - I can't even get down on the ground to play with Olivia. I am off to see my OB tomorrow to get it checked so I just hope there is no infection there.

Still express feeding, I am really scared to go back to the breast, as corny as that must sound but Olivia really hurts me! My mum said I did the same to her and she had to stop, but she was unfortunate cause she couldn't express whereas I keep a heap out!! I just don't know how long I can do it for. I would like to do it for 3-4 months (if I don't try the boob again) but the machine we are using is $25 a week!!!

Olivia is great though, she sleeps the most from 9pm - 3pm and is awake mostly from 3pm-9pm hehe does that make sense? She is a great sleeper in the mornings, then not so great in the afternoons through to dinner then is great all through the night - I have to wake her for her feed which I don't know if I should still be doing!!

Anyway, I must go and rest myself - this 6-8 recovery is really getting to me! I just want to feel better!!!

I hope you are all doing well, sorry I have missed out on so much.

    Hi girls

Great to hear from you Flossie. Sounds like you are slowly getting better and you are doing a fantastic job with Olivia. You are just amazing with your feeding routine.

Bridie - thasnks for the mintie tip - like you said if anything else it is an excuse to eat lollies - although I know I wont be able to stop at 2-3.

Nicky - yay for a chubby bubba - he is obviously a huge fan of breast milk!! Well done.

Me - not much new to report. Oliver and Jesse are in childcare today so it has been a lovely, quiet day. Charlotte has been sleeping well - usually 10pm - 3,.30am then a feed then back to sleep until between 6 - 7am. Although in saying that last night she was a bit unsettled - but I cant complain. Jesse had grommets put in his ears yesterday - he is totally back to his usual cheerful self but it was still a bit traumatic for him (at least for a short while). DH went into the theatre with him when he was put under and even DH said it was pretty hard to see this happen ( I knew I would have been a wreck hence DH going in) and then we were told we had to wait in his room and they would bring him down from recovery when he woke up which I wasnt all that happy about as I wanted to be there the minute he opened his eyes but DH said it would be OK (I think he thought I would be more of a hindrance than a help as he knew I would be teary) so after the procedure the nurse bought him back to his room and he was beside himswelf. It took me at least 20 minutes to get him to stop sobbing - it was like he was really confused and didnt know what was going on. I must admit it made me a bit teary as well but I was still annoyed that I couldnt be there when he first woke up. But after a short nap on my knee he was fine. It was only a very minor procedure and it was bad enough seeing him go through it - I cannot imagine how children/parents cope when there is something seriously wrong - I guess they do cope becasue they have to. But it is all good now.

Well I had best run and make the most of the last hour I have before picking O and J up from cc.

    Take care everyone

    Hi everyone,

Apologies for no personals, just too tired to go through them all, but, as always, loving reading all your posts.

Took Liam to the MCHN today, little champ has put on 260g since last week - not quite as impressive as Lachlan's weight gain (Nicky, you must be doing a super b/f job), but I was pretty happy with it, although not overly surprised given the amount of time he spends feeding. We then went to do a little bit of shopping, but, like a true boy, he cracked it, so it was a quick trip. Going to have to work on his shopping endurance, as he's not going to be able to avoid it whilst he's hanging out with me
Also got myself enrolled in a mothers group that starts in a couple of weeks, which I'm happy about, because the next one being run by the centre doesn't start until October, and I'm not sure that I could wait until then. Once Pat goes back to work next week I think I'm going to go a little stir crazy being stuck in the house without adult company during the day, so now I've got something to look forward to each week for a few weeks.

Other than that, we've not been up to much (I know, surprising!).

Quick question - is it just me, or do other people also kind of miss being pregnant? I'm really missing my belly sometimes, even though I'm loving having Liam, if that makes sense. I don't miss all the pg symptoms like heartburn, cramps etc, but I was really enjoying the last few months, and I think I'm a bit sad that it finished earlier than I was expecting (I know, stupid, as it was only 1 day early, I just was fully psyched that I wouldn't see any action until 41 weeks). Plus having it end in a c/s makes me sometimes feel sad too, cos I'm worried that I won't get a "normal" birth opportunity now, and I really wanted that.

Anyway, that's it from me for now, going to try to get a couple of hours sleep before Liam wakes up for a feed.

*hugs* Jan. You may still be able to get the normal birth experience next time. Just got to stay positive!! I too miss being pregnant. I really miss my belly and not too impressed in the flabby thing I have right now! Even though I went through many dramas at the end, I cant wait to go through it again!

I'm afraid that Avaleigh is not going to sleep tonight cause she had a decent sleep this afternoon. I knw it sounds silly, but she doesnt normally sleep during the day cause of her colic. Guess we got to wait and see what happens. A bath and a feed might help settle her.

Jason's having fun cuddling the cute squirmy lil girl at the moment, Im going to grab this opportunity and have a nice long hot shower!

Wow it sounds like everyone is having such different experiences.

Nicki I think I'm going to have a little poomba too, he gained 240gm between sunday and tuesday (although he had just the fed.

Who said they were glad they had a little girl or they would have been wee'd on? I've been weed on Nathan has been weed on, he weed in his own face, the cupboard the wall, etc, etc.

With the gas we were told that the best way to burp a bubs these days is to just sit them up, correct support their head and correct their posture gently with your other hand so that everything opens up. He hasn't had too much problem with burping so far. Although when he eats he manages to snort milk out his nose, he's going to be a terror when he's onlder.

We feed one side, until no longer interested (or asleep). 'Cause he falls asleep almost every single time, the midwives told me to change him to wake him up, and then give him the other side for "Desert", then the next time we should do the same but start on the side we ended on so that bubs finishes a full feed on each boob.

Veronica, thanks for the coments on the birthing story. I had no idea what to put in there, I could almost give a 5000 word essay and still miss some details I had no idea what to include and what to leave out.

Flossie you poor thing with 3rd degree tearing, I thought second degree was bad enough!!

Play time, we put Xavier on his tummy for a few minutes yesterday, and he started trying to push his knees up. This one is going to be trouble though, the cheeky little thing turned onto his side in the hosi, he was only 2 days old.

Well that's enough selfish chit chat from me.

I hope everyone is doing well. Expecting Domicillary midwife this morning sometime, my BP is still high, if it hasn't gone down today I have to go back to the hosi for monitoring

Wishing you all lots of sleep!!

Hi girls - sorry I have been mia - I'm not quite sure why - I seem to be managing ok. I ensure I have the boys clothes out and snacks for kinder packed the night before and so far have made it to 8:30am kinder on time, but I just havent been motivated to get back on here (other than quickly sneaking on to see if Fran's little one has arrived). I have been reading all your posts though and really want to write individual comments - so I just need to snap out of it and make some time.

Maddison is now over 8lb 7oz so is really porking it on which is great. She is in the 25% for weight (the boys were always over 50%) but is only 10% for height so she is still in 0000 atm but I dare say this wont be for long - its just the height keeping her back not the weight. She measured 50cm at her 4 week checkup, but she is beautiful! The last two nights she has gone 6 hrs over night which is awesome but otherwise she averages around 3 1/2 or 4 hourly so cant complain. She is still puking constantly though, am going through the clothes and spew nappies like nothing, but she is not distressed by it. We go away in 2 weeks and I am a little nervous about taking her and how I'll manage with feeds and her crying through the night not wanting to disturb anyone else but mum's with us and that will be a huge help. The next two weeks are flat out though, I have gown of the year tomorrow night, Jacksen's speech session Friday, Birthday party for Jacksen to attend Sat arvo, Chris' 30th on Saturday night, Jacksen's followup from operation ENT appt on Monday, pre-school committee meeting mon night, My 6 week ob check up Wed, dinner for Chris' and my mum's real birthday Wed night, MCHC checkup for Maddison on Thurs (doing her 8 weeker early cause we will be away), Waxing on Friday (cant go to QLD hairy!), a 50th party the following Sat night, Maddison's 8 week immunisation Monday (again have to do it early cause we'll be away), another getting to know the primary school night on Tuesday and then we leave on the Wed. Not to forget kinder, swimming, aussie hoops and some how packing for this holiday. I am exhausted just typing about it.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi - I am thinking of you all and love hearing how your gorgeous bubs are going. I'm sorry I'm not more active but I will try!

Jem - Jacksen just had his adnoids operated on two weeks ago - sounds very similar to what you are going through (just nose not ears) but so hear you on the recovery and hospital visit. Chris had to go with Jacksen whilst I waited in the room cause I couldnt watch him being put under (I was with him last time he had it done, and I still remember the fear on his face). So big hugs to you!

Oh and with the feeding I do the same as what Rebecca said - feed one side, Maddison falls asleep, change her, feed other side. Then next feed I'll start on the side I finished. And if you think getting wee'd on is bad - just wait till the poo squirts everywhere - picture nice cream curtains sprayed with nice yellow baby poo! LOVELY - lol. (That was Jacksen not Maddison - although the way she lets rip like no lady - I'm ensured her change table is not near the curtain!!!)

    Hi everyone!

Difficult to keep up with this thread - especially when I don't get on here as often as I hoped. I keep forgetting that DH is working from home in the afternoons and by the time I get myself organised to come on here, he's on the computer. Must try to schedule in some time each day for this!

Good to hear that most babies are behaving themselves relatively well. Amelie is another chubba bubba!! She put on 400g in 4 days- cheeky monkey- the nurse was quite amazed - she is now 4750g, not too long before she hits the big 5kg mark (especially at the rate she's going!!). All the other checks were fine. Feeding her is a breeze - 10 min each side and we're done - only issue is she's greedy and sometimes chokes when she takes too much without breathing - very scary the first few times, but now that I know what to expect, I'm ok with it. Now if only she could sleep during the night as well as she feeds! Nurse told me to stop giving top up feeds to settle her during the night, as this is probably only making her tummy pains worse. We tried this last night, to some success- was awake for about 4 hours continually, so we'll see if we can do better tonight.

On the down side, DH has been ill, with a bladder problem. It turns out that it is probably stress related- our little girl is still keeping us up a lot at night with plenty of crying and that's what is stressing him out. The other night I found him crashed on the bathroom floor after feeling dizzy and almost fainting. Not very good- quite stressful for me as well as I also had to attend to crying baby at the same time. Was thinking we might need to take DH to hospital- but we managed and he stayed home on Monday and went to the doctor for urine tests. We'll find out the results today, hope all is ok with him.

Zyon is having wind issues too, he will only setle asleep on my chest, last night he screamed in ian from 8pm til almost 11, so I sent Dh into another room to lseep & Zy slept propped up on a tri pillow in my arms...
but only for like 1.5hours at a time then would be screaming in pain again...
Right now he's alseep on his tummy (he loves being on his tummy as did Indah!) propped up on a pillow, he has been asleep in a deep sleep for almost an hour a long stint for us!!!

I keep reminding myself I got through this stgae with the girls & so it will end soon too...

It's what keeps me going LOL....

He gets weighed tomorrow so I bet he has stacked on weight!

Mum & Dad are away for 3 wks & so I will have to somehow manage getting up & Maddy to school on time (Kris your a legend!!!!)

I can't beleive there are no more JULY preggo threads!
It's the end of an era!!
Little one slept so well last night ony waking 3 times. So proud of my little puddin! lol

Rebecca, our experiences sounds kind of similar.... labour/birth wise. I had such a good experience with the BHCG. The middies were all fantastic.
Kelly the student you had, is a good friend of my sister, that discharged me. I had never met her before but she was just lovely. Also, Sara you had, was just wondering if she had a hyphenated last name?

Well, my boobies are on fire!! lmao
One of them has too much milk! lol Lach has trouble latching on sometimes, so I am finding I am having to express for a few mins before I try and feed him on it.

Anyway, my little grumpy one is calling my name!

    Have a good one all
    Hugs
