    Hi mums and bubs

My beautiful little girl Nakita Lily Robyn was born on th 30th June at 10:37pm, so we just sneak into this group! She was 6 weeks 4 days early, I was expecting to be in the August bubs!!

We are still in hospital, I am a border, I transferred from the Women's and Children's on Saturday with Nakita, omg she looks so tiny in the car seat, we went by cab with a MW and DH. We are now at the Private hospital where I had hoped to deliver, but she was too early.

Waters broke at 8:00pm driving home from yoga - how convenient, contractions started 40 min later, after numberous phone calls between me, obs and hospitals, we went to WCH, got there at 9:30, sent straight to delivery, she was born 1 hour later. Total 2.5 hour labour. Am planning to write a birth story, while I am in here!

She was 2.35kg, down to 2.17 atm, 45.5cm, 34.5 head circ.

Am pumping every 3 hours, last expression 90ml, but it varies, and it is hard work!! A constant 3 hour cycle of feeding, expressing (both bbs at once), eating, sleeping, I express extra so I can take the 3 am feed off, and she still gets EBM. She is now up to 50ml every 3 hours. She sleeps very well, v limited awake time each day, gets tired very easily, but she is learning to BF, using a nipple shield, last night a good 20 min latch and this morning 40 min!! It will be a lot easier when she is bfing more than once a day.

Most feeds are through a gavage tube and take about 40min atm.

We hope to be on 4 hourly feeds in few days, then she needs to be sucking well before we can go home.

Hope to get to know you all!!

    Will do some personals later!!

Smudgies mum - Congrats. At least you got an epi. I forgot to ask for one even though it was my intention to have one all though my pregnancy. Sounds silly but it's what happened. I did it on gas & peth (17 hours) and plan never to go through that again. It's a shame you ended up with a forceps delivery. We were headed there if the ventouse didn't work but thankfully it did. It's not nice when things don't exactly go to plan is it?

Beema - It's really hard doing 3 hourly feeds & expressing in hossy - that's what I was doing as well. Since coming home though we've been feeding on demand. You are doing really well managing to express 90mls. The best I think I've done is about 50ml. I have a pump I hired from hossy for another 4 weeks as Brock is no longer fond of breast feeding. He was using the nipple shield at hossy but pretty much stopped the minute we got home. I'm trying to express every 4 hours but haven't been managing to do it in the middle of the night, just too tired. I use whatever EBM I have then top up with formula after he finishes the EBM.

I feel like I've had a couple of decent nights sleep now. Mostly 3 hour sleeps but I got one 3 and a half hour sleep which was great. This morning started badly, going through 3 outfits for bubs as he kept chucking his milk up all over himself. He eventually kept some down him and we went for a visit in to my work where we got lots more pressies - all clothing, thankfully in bigger sizes as some of his 0000 stuff is already too tight. I guess that's a good thing.

The above post was last night.

Update: couldn't settle Brock last night so DF & I took him for a drive on Eastlink at 1.30 this morning. This then resulted in us all getting 5 straight hours of sleep. Yay.

Smudgies Mum - congratulations on your little bubba!!

Beema - Wow, six weeks premature! Bet your bubba is tiny. Expressing is a bit annoying but I hvae been doing it after each feed for a few days now because of my poor nipples! I have a manual Avent pump and it has made things so much easier and quicker than hand expressing.

Satya - Sorry to hear that Brock was unsettled last night, hopefully it will pass for you..

Congrats to all the miracle arrivals and hope your bubbas are being good for you. Look forward to getting to know you all, some of which I already know Serendipity, Jean and Satya (I think that is all). Congrats on your arrivals

Just thought I would touch base with you seeing as I was a due in July, but we had our baby boy in June.

Been so busy with our business and end of financial year stuff, so I apologise for not getting on here sooner.

Just an overview of our situation: My first I had a c-section as he was breach, but this time I was hoping my bundle would come early so I could try VBAC, but it wasn't to be and we made it to our C-section date of the 27th June. We have a business (newsagency) this time round, and I live 3 hours away from the hospital, so regardless of my terrible recovery last time, our lifestyle now ensured we had a date picked for reasons of organising staff for our shop. So I guess the VBAC was not meant to be, but it leaves me wondering what it would have been like. If I go for a 3rd child there is no way they will let me try a VBAC, ohhh well!! I have a safe bundle of joy in my arms.

    Riley Lynwall's details were:
    Born at 8.08am, 3.475kgs / 7lb 10oz, 53cm long and HC of 35cm

He has a slight tongue tie, and a hernia under his belly button. He also has fluid in his right testie (hydraseal) which they expect to dissapear by the time he is 1, otherwise a minor operation will be required. Otherwise he is full of health and just beautiful. As a newborn he is so similar to Lachlan it is like dayjaveu (sp?)

He is such a good baby, just feeds and sleeps. So different to my first son who fed for 5 mins and had 20min cat naps right from birth (I guess this was all related to his servere reflux issues though). I didn't know babies could be this good! Although we have had a few wind issues the last couple of nights and he does have his days and nights mixed up too! Until these wind issues he would sleep 22 hours a day and go 5-7 hours between feeds, which the CHN has recently told me to wake him 3 hourly thru the day (which is a challenge) But we will get there! Hardly know I have a baby thru the day. Getting use to nightly feeds again is a challenge esp with the wind pain lately. He is so content on his belly, so out of dire desperation he slept on his tummy beside us last night. Only seems to be nights he is upset. I guess that is always the way though! So I am in a dilema of what to do about this tummy situation and SIDS. I guess that is why I only want him in bed with us if he is on his tummy atm, but what to do on a more permanent basis, atm I am not sure! Might have to look into some wind drops, something I will start to investigate soon. Anyone got any advice at all please let me know.

Lachlan (DS#1) is adapting well. Too busy most of the time, but doesn't appear jealous or ratty like he was prior to us coming home. So just hope that continues.

As for my caesar wound, all appears to be going well this time (ie: no bleeding from the wound so far so good), so the gyno did a fab job of which I am so grateful (after my drama recovery last time of having a haematomma and an absys). I nearly pulled out of my caesar due to sheer nervousness of the last recovery being so bad. I was shaking like u have never seen anyone shake before. Just so glad it is all over really.

Anyway back to the paperwork, hope you are all well xoxo I should go and see if we have a baby group set up yet. Talk to you all soon.

    Hi everyone!

Hope you and your bubs are well!

Flynn is doing great. We've had a few rough nights (well, not overly rough but still...). ATM he seems to have 2 or 3 good nights then 2 or 3 not so good nights. I've started giving him Infants friend (Sheree, this is great for wind but also does teething, bowel problems etc) which seems to be really helping him.

Last night had a really good nights sleep with him, our other son though......well that's a different story and totally different group

Congrats to all the new mums, I look foward to sharing our ups and downs! Hopefully we have more ups than downs though

Have posted some photos of Flynn in my gallery, don't know how to put a link to them, sorry I'm a bit hopeless!

    Take care
    Jean

    Hi All!

Finally have a chance to post ! Cooper and I have made a temp move to North Queensland as my DPs bosses have no hearts, souls or compassion! For those of you who don't know my DP works a 28 day cycle with 9 off... was really hard during the last stages of preg not knowing if he was going to be here for the birth. He made it with plently of time to spare and we were looking forward to some much deserved time off to enjoy our new family member together! We had been home from hospital for 3 days and recieved flowers from the his work crew, when he called to thank them they basically said the guy replacing him was causing all sorts of drama and they needed him back ASAP. He is earmarked for a Foremen's postition which means an extra $1400 a week (makes the working away from home thing bareable! sp?) and didnt want to jepordise anything so with a 10 day old bub my poor DP flew back out to work

And bubba wakes up wanting boob.. finish this later i suppose.. LOL perhaps in three weeks time! Congrats to all the new mums and bubs!

OMG Riley just put on 510grams in 1 week. So in 2 weeks 4 days he has gained 900 grams. Omg so different to my first child who barely put on every week, maybe averged about 60-80 grams a week!
