i justify the kids going in their pool as i substitute it for a bath!! they still wash and everything, but just outside... Its a big treat for them. And i use pretty much the same as a bath.
The pool we got from my parents holds 5000 litres, so instead of buggering around with permits etc, we're going to get water carted to us, when we've got it in position. That's why I won't put it up yet, cos if I buy the water and DP comes back and doesn't like where I've put it...well, too bad, and I'll have to listen to his griping about it all summer long. He is the outdoor caretaker, to be fair, so I am merely a visitor and guest in our yard! He does ALL the work out there, so I can handle respecting his wishes for what happens out there. Dont' get me wrong, I get input into ideas, but once they're in place it's his turf!
Oooh, just read your post, Sim - I'm there! 1000 posts!
Good start to your blog, Simone Your posts are relative to mine in terms of children involved. i.e. I've got one kid, I've hit 1000 posts, you have 3 and you're nearing 3000...just a nerdy observation :P
I'm nearly tidy enough here to watch a DVD...
going to ignore the news about fires in the Paynesville area and I'll just assume that Metung is far, far away from all those fires. Not too worried, as my mum's overseas and my dad is returning today from NZ and will head to the hills, not Metung!
This fire season must hold the record for TFB days, just announced tomorrow is another total fire ban day...no BBQ's, Vic girls!
ETA, sorry Mel, meant to answer you before! Med schools over there can't be that crash hot because of the nature of the country, and it did actually occur to me that she could do some sort of exchange. She has learnt some english, but would need to really work on it some more (she thinks, possibly with some justification, that English is a stupid language!) to study abroad. It is such a huge achievement for my family. They think my mum is the bees knees cos she lives in Australia (few ever emigrate from Honduras), but now they have someone internal to aspire to. And I don't mean they should all become doctors, but that if they want any sort of education they can go out and get one to get a satisfying life IYKWIM

you nerd IK LOL!!! What ar you cooking for rory's arvo?? I have no idea what to make, i want to make something that travels well, as i will be walking and catching a train, tram and a bus...
hi girls,
I'm home after a month away - so strange being back in a small apartment after my parents HUGE house with HUGE acerage and the river - but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
I'm pretty jealous you girls are meeting up.. I so wish I could come!
Congrats to Simone on 3,000 messages and IK for 1,000 - my my.. you both can chit chat can't you!!!
:-)
I'm going to check out the solids thread as Ally has been on pumkin and sweet potato for 2 weeks and now I think I should start lunch but I have no idea on what to give her... also maybe time for some thing else besides vegies for tea? Like rice or something? What do you all do????
Welcome home CC!! with re: to solids, i give Anneliese puree fruit for lunch and am about to start veges for dinner. I puree diff fruits, and make diff combinations (atm i have plum, mango, banana, and apple in the freezer atm) and sometimes i add some banana custard in to thicken it up (allie likes it better than the rice cereal...) i cook the veges in stock to give it more flavour, which the other 2 kids loved!! (and when they get old enought, you can make your own stock with ham bones and such, and leave the meat in...) Dinner time, ttfn!!
CC- welcome back! re: food, when Nixon first started we tried one food at a time and didnt introduce anything else for about 3 days, just so we could keep track if something didnt sit wsith him well or allergies. So some fruits to try are apple, pear, banana, avacado, plum, peach, mango, then you can start mixing and matching Nixon has pear, apple & apricot in the freezer atm. Veg you can try: potato,s potato, zucinni, brocolli, parsnip, corn, peas, carrot and again then start mixing them. Nixon has corn/pea/sweet potato/brocolli combo in the freezer atm.
Yeah like Sim said you can add custard or rice cerial to any of it to for a different taste again. I have the Organic baby banana porridge atm but also tried the custard powder which he liked too.
Hope that helps.
Today Nixon tried a vegemite sandwhich! he has had vege toast but gave him a sandwhich for lunch he loved it, big mess though! then he had some watermelon which he enjoyed sucking on but he is a better chewer now.
Howdy girls - what a lot of posts! I have been lurking but with a combo of catching up with friends (IRL!!), mothers group, doing a bit of work from home and FlyLady-ing, I haven't had much time to post.
First up, Nickel- I would really like to replicate the compact - maybe we could do a modified version here in BellyBelly. I understand the strict no-buy policy would clash with the promos for things like Hug-A-Bubs, but those things aside maybe we could suggest starting a thread on it. Dunno what our Mod thinks?? but I reckon we could give it a go. I am just too bushed to think about typing anything more than replies in here and the odd thread here and there, though!!
Mel, I have some MooGoo here, so Bath if it is too hard to find a suitable container for yours don't worry about bringing some. So Glad little Marley seems to be doing better with the eczema - I found a photo of Flynn the other day which showed his rash when it was at its peak - luckily for him it seemed to be a passing phase.
Ceecee, I give Flynn a similar variety to what Nickers gives Nixon. ATM he has sweet potato, zucchini, potato, swedes, pumpkin, apple/raspberry, mango, cauliflower, homemade chicken stock, apple/apricot and beef/mushroom casserole. I prefer to make it in idividual cubes of single foods and then grab a mixture for his meals. Brekky is usually fruit and baby porridge or 2 vitabrits and fruit. As fun as making Flynn's food is - I had the horrible thought the other day that for the next 15 years at least I am going to be intimately concerned with the makeup of his diet!! Yikes!! Like worrying about my own and DH's isn't enough!
IK that is fantastic about your cousin, and Amanda I love the piccy of your little cowboy! Yee-haw!
Sim, I love the comment your DH put on your blog! Hahahah!
Anyone heard from Jess??
Better go - pretty bushed! Just a quick question - does anyone else have TTC smilies on their "Advanced" reply to thread panel? Wonder if its just me cause we are TTC??
yeah i noticed that too rory mine are all TTC related!
well here we go again, just put nixon to bed and the carry on begins.... dh not here so i have to deal with him.
I think he is trying really hard to say dad too but its coming out "gag" atm!
oh, i havent been on hotmail for ages thats prob why, since i got that virus and i got rid of msn messenger i think, ive been lazy and havent downloaded it again.
Can you email it to nicole@newschool.com.au
Thanks
Nixon carried on, on and off eventually when dh got home went in there and within minutes he was alseep!
CC - I can understand how strange it must being home, good to have you back! Re solids, I give Marley rice cereal and fruit for breakfast, bottle for lunch, dinner usually pumpkin/zucchini/potato/sweet pototo. Due to her eczema she is on a limited diet, just incase of allergies. I have a list of low risk foods which I am supposed to try first. Will start giving lunch as well. Her fruit she has is only apple or pear. I think you can start to introduce meat now, vitamised like the old people have it LOL!!!!
Nic - MIL looked after the girls tonight and had trouble getting Marley to sleep too! She is just wriggling around the cot and is not happy when she can't move back. She said she dropped off after about 20 mins so not too bad. Lets see what tonight holds.
Rory - thanks for the MooGoo offer. I am willing to try anything to get rid of her awful cradle cap.
IK - we are lucky in Oz aren't we. Funny how they think your mum is so cool living in Oz, when we just take it for granted we live somewhere beautiful.
Had a beautiful dinner out tonight and it was still 29 degrees at 10.30pm. Might go and sit outside for while, house is freezing from air con but I don't want to turn it off yet as house will then warm up again!!! Night all - sleep well.
morning ladies, just a quickie hello today, have an appointment and want to get it over and done with before it gets too hot... jess is ok, spoke to her yesterday (or day before!!) she's busy with the austprem stories (we are making a book, and are each telling our stories... mine's 5 pages long so far...) and i cant believe i forgot DH on my blog LOL.
Ill be back in later, going to do some shopping as well while im kidfree... and enjoy a boost juice without having to share it all!!
TTC #2 - wow. Can I ask if it's ok, but why so soon? I mean I want one more and everything is going as well as can be expected but the thought of toddlers and babies at the same time just does my head in. But I'm also kind of glad there are gals out there who are loving being a mummy so much they are prepared to go again so quick!
NUDE - can't do it! I'm beginning to wonder if I'll even be able to sleep without a bra again! Just find boobies bouncing around too uncomfortable! But putting out the washing nude?? hahaha - if you knew how our backyards all were! Maybe if I had the body for it?
KAREN - I worry about the baby choking on the little toys too, you know the barbie shoes, hairbands etc. What do you guys do about this kind of thing?
NICKERS-
Nixon has very similar behaviour to Ruby at the mo with the tummy sleeping and fussing. Usually the prob is that they roll over on their tummy and because they are tired they can't remember or don't have the energy to roll back! It got so bad one night, I remember popping ruby into her highchair (it's like a padded rocker thing) to sleep as i was tired of getting up and turning her over. Had to warn DH though so he didn't think I'd left her overnight there and forgotten her! Can't remember why I didn't just bring her to bed with us, might have been really hot or something.
Do you just puree the solids in a blender? Is that fine enough?
IK - that's so cool re. Oscar F&Feed! I also tried MTM feeding too, Ruby looked at me very surprised!! and You might not like Babylove! Anyway she's totally wrong re. teething, formula and colic. But otherwise she's aussie, and pretty good. Lots of good info.
CC- hey there! good to see you again. Yep, the thread is full of the ladies chitchatting (and they are all going to get to see each other anyway! so jealous!) - you've got to learn to speed read and skim if you are a once a dayer like me!!
LMG - You went out to Dinner?? SO jealous - how was it?
Compact
I'm quite serious about trying to start/thinkabout the compact nobuy policy thing. I almost get anxiety attacks about the amount of clutter and stuff we have. I loved when I was pregnant that I had like 5 things to wear. I like that simplicity.
I think each person has to decide for themselves what their definition of "nobuy" is, cause I'm not 100% sure I can give up chocolate as a non-essential...or alcohol...or coffee. Mostly I just need to not buy clothes. Anyway, I'll have a think about how we might be able to do this. Sounds like you've got it going a bit anyway with the staplers and Moogoo!
Well, Oscar's up - damn this hot weather, no waking up at 9.30! Not to worry, we had a great sleep after getting to bed after midnight. Took us to brigade last night.
Meats - now, I'm no authority on this topic, as I have barely got Oscar on solids (he's just not that interested and I won't force the issue at this stage - I know of older babies who are perfectly healthy and only just starting solids, so I'm not worried), but I remember being told that red meat should be left for 12 months, but chicken can be introduced sooner...just don't ask me how soon, cos i don't know!
I described my slice to my sister and she said that hers didn't have enough bite, and that they are better when they do...mine has bite, yay! Shall I try it again for this party of ours? Or should I try something savoury? Will there be enough savoury? I could do celery sticks and dips instead?
The fan is back on, but only as a pre-emptive measure, as I was quite enjoying the temp in the house (but I do like a bit of heat).
OK, gonna change a nappy and then tackle this table before the electrician comes for a quote. I am so impressed with how tidy my tidy areas have remained since I did them - just proves the DP is a major problem in my tidy house efforts!
