Good afternoon Junies... Verity will be home soon from her first day in high school, just a half day, no lessons. School photos were on the agenda... I also took a piccy of her before she set off this morning (she got a lift with our neighbour who also sends her DD to the school.

Jess: any news on Ryn? I can't go searching BB for news... just too busy here... would love an update though.

Mel: I'm thinking of you and your wardrobe installations today LOL are you getting one in your bedroom or is it just the girls? I really miss the walk-in wardrobe we had in our last house... but we've got lots of standard built-in space here I guess.

Niall has crawled into Wade's room.... better go check the floor... back later...

    hello girls
well, instead of having a shower I've jumped on BB to see how you are all doing! He he

Baths - wow, I hope Verity's first day was good, she is a pretty and what sounds like clever little girl so I'm sure she had no troubles fitting in and making friends.

All things good here, Ally is not yet sitting or crawling, but she loves to roll all over the house. I've had to put the dog outside as she rolled over towards him and he growled and walked outside... So that was a HUGE warning sign that he is not happy for her to invade his personal space, so I'm not going to risk it. When I'm in the room I build a "huggies" barrier half way down the floor (with Huggies boxes) so Ally can have half the floor and Buddy can have half, that is working for now.

She is mostly sleeping through which is AMAZING, I still wake every few hours though - it is hard to break a six month habbit!

Well, should really go shower now...big hello to everyone
    luv

Nic yay for Nixon, I'm glad that he finally likes been on his tummy, I know that all my boys when they sleep on their tummys always have their bums in the air, it's soo cute, I've got a pic of them doing it too.

Rory thanks for that, I'll let you know when I get them, I hope that Flynn is just teething and not sick.

7th Heaven glad to see you got down here safe and sound, once your properly settled we should organise with Neeny to do a meet up, will be great to finally meet you.

Dee what a great idea about the wedding, I hope you really enjoy yourself.

Nickel I remember posting that, I have to walk as we only have the one car and DH uses it to go to work, I'm looking at it as a way to lose some weight as well as having some time with the younger boys too.

Hello to Bath, IK and Jess and anyone else I forgot, it's a bit quite today so I'm off to have a look around.

ETA In the time it's taken to write this and get the boys lunch I've missed two post hello CC and Bath, lol.

    hugs xoxo

Well, just heard on the radio that yes, climate change is real and that at the current rate our babies will be 15 when the arctic cap has finally melted away totally. Good on you John Howard and all the other Baby Boomer Generation decision makers who all thought it was just Greenies making up myths Good on you Amanda for not buying a second car... the excercise you get from walking everywhere will do wonders for your health and the fitness of your boys... as well as the excellent opportunity to chat properly to them as you walk... AND teach them road safety!

Verity walked home from school... proably about the only girl that did... and she's off to another Little Athletics twilight session tonight... I think I might go along too... she's been breaking a lot of her personal bests lately in her drive to be club champion again this year... it's her last opportunity... next year she will be too old.

Heaven: How are you guys settling in? Getting wet?! Heard also on the news that QLD has had the heaviest rain since 1998... when I was living in Lismore and living in a pub in which all us residents were able to swim through the bar! And we had all the stuff from downstairs in our rooms! hehe

Nic - they look so sweet sleeping on their tum! Marley does it almost every sleep, but sometimes she cracks it when her dummy slips under her and she can't get it. The one downside of having a dummy! Glad to hear Nixon has worked out that sleeping on his tummy is actually pretty good LOL!!

Bath - wardrobes go in on Tuesday. They are just going in the girls rooms, our just needs doors which we will wait until later as it is behind a wall and can't be seen! I am not looking forward to emptying them over the hot weekend but gives me a good excuse to cull what they have. Glad to hear Verity had a good day. I am sure she would have looked great for her photos. Hope Verity does well tonight at Aths- its going to be a warm one tonight too.

CC - great to hear from you. Ally sounds like she is doing very well sleeping through, now to get you to sleep through too! LOL about the huggies barrier, its good to see the boxes get put to good use. It was good that Buddy gave you a warning, sometimes they get a bit frightened of this "thing" rolling towards them - it must look pretty weird for them.

    Hi to everyone else!

Quiet day here today, just did some shopping at Aldi and a bit of cleaning. DH got home early from work and has taken Chelsea swimming at his mums place. We might go back after dinner if its still hot - I love swimming at night!

JEALOUS!!! I love swimming at night, Mel, but haven't done it since I lived with my parents, and on nights like the ones we've got coming this weekend, I'd nick down at about 1am in the nuddie!
I've just been to Aldi, too. Had to dip into Maxi's in FTG for my biodegradeable washing liquid, organic pasta and some things for a bbq tonight. Oscar is still asleep in the car, windows open, breeze blowing through
I'm not going to post a rant here about little Johnnie and his ugly head in the sand, suffice to say that, Bath, your thoughts echo mine.
Dee - glad the move went well! I keep forgetting to write that - I've been hitting and running lately!
Cee Cee - like Mel said, at least you had a warning - some dogs just act out first. My dog just yelps and runs...don't need warning for that!
    Ok, gonna go again...

Yeah, I know I shouldn't get political in here IK I'm just angry on behalf of my kids who are going to have to pick up the pieces... and it's so yukky and hot ATM I gotta blame someone LOL About to pack an esky and a picnic rug for Athletics... lots of shade there, it shouldn't be too bad... better than this hot house anyhow... plus I'm just bored and need some adult company... there's one woman at Aths that has 6 kids... a little one about Niall's age... she's always good for a chat

Well just about to put a DVD on for the kids...its sooo hot here. DH has gone out for a while so its just me and the 6 kids. My aunts have just gotten home from the Doctors(one of my aunts has to get a venous ulcer on her foot cleaned and dressed every day) so I'll get the salad stuff out of her fridge and then about 6 stat on dinner, cold meat and salad tonight!

Jess, cold meat and salad sounds like a good dinner option! Unfortunately I have some cheapie discounted pork here that needs cooking - I could freeze it though!

I'm just bored and need some adult company
Bath, this is one of the reasons I like going to work - I get to be a grown up for a day!

Swimming - walked to Broadmeadows Leisure Centre this morning (45min walk) and took Flynn in the baby pool (1.2m deep in places). Gonna try doing it every week - he is starting to really like going under water.

Too tired to type more - it is not too hot here with the cooler but the heat (and amount of housework I gotta do) is getting to me - zzzzzz

Hee, hee, I bypassed the 'grown-up' thing before having Oscar, so I don't know what you're all talking about! I DID go for a ride this morning, though, and my preference would be for someone (ummm, like DP if he's home!) to bring him to the equestrian centre, but because that's not really possible, it's my reluctant 'me time'. I still don't feel like getting 'me' time (I've learned how to have a shower with Oscar, so I dont' have to rush out like I did when he would wake up and cry), but I do need pony time, and if that has to happen without Oscar, then it's not intentional. I had a lovely ride today - was a bit crappy in the arena and I had to work for every step he gave me, but I topped it off with a spin in the paddock and that was lovely I'm knackered again, but now have to make a potato salad to take to my GF's...maybe she has an announcement to make...every meet up with her had me wondering this these days!
Oscar is chortling heaps lately - like he's having an undecipherable conversation with himself and it's adorable. He is such a pokey little critter!
Nickel - did you have any luck with that password for Photobucket?
Ok, too hot to just sit around...nappies need bringing in and folding before I leave, as well, sheesh!

Sounds like a hot one everywhere today, even with our AC going it is warm inside, Evap. AC's really dont seem to cope too well in this heat.

I have to agree with you IK I absolutley LOVE going swimming at night, something about being in the water under the stars. Tori loves the water too, we have started her swimming lessons, she has her second one tomorrow, and she is just so happy in the water. The instructor is teaching us how to slowly work up to doing a submersion.

Bath enjoy Verity's athletics meet, and your adult interaction- I think it is a much better idea to have twilight meets, over here they are held in the day and I just think it is i too hot this time of year for that.

Well I had better head off, trying to get the house tidy as BIL and his GF are coming to stay, and we are all going out to Indian for dinner- a nice little resturant called Chutney Mary's. I decided this morning I needed togo to the hair dressers, so I did I had a trim and a colour and I had it blowed dried straight so I didnt have to re do it to go out tonight, it felt so good to be pampered.

Baths - sounds like Verity's taking high school in her stride! It is crazy how much out of school stuff there is!
Rory - I was just reading your posts and thought "how does she do it?"... then saw you wrote "I'm so tired"... and I LOL - thank God your human! You are a bit of a super mum! Are you still flying? I went away for a month and got out of the habbit, but am getting back into it now.
IK - What does Oscar think of your horse? Ally loves Nana's horse, except once when it snorted right in her face ... then she cried...

Amanda - hello! I dont know how you even get time to post anything with 4 boys!

Hi Mel - everytime you write about your Mum's pool I want to move to a big house with a pool! I just love swimming and miss it so much... I should really let myself go on the w/e while DH takes Ally.

Ali - oooohhhhh.... I love a good blow wave - makes you feel so good... Enjoy your Indian, now I want it too.....

Me: Ally is not napping much during the day, but since she is sleeping at night I don't care too much... she does not have teeth yet (thank goodness - ouch Baths), but is slowly putting on the weight... She eats an AMAZING amount of food... She just ate 250mls of brown lentils with vegies mixed, then 150 mls of stewed apples and she still wanted more... far out, I spend my whole time cooking... she doesn't like yogurt (it actually made her spew - and DH can't eat any milk products, not even yogurt - so I'm thinking she can't either)... may go post this question is the Starting solids thread... chat later!

IK - I think I would scare my IL's if DH and I went swimming in the nude LOL!!! We didn't end up going as my brother called over and we chatted for a while, then it was too late, both girls were in bed! Bummer, I was looking forward to it. Did you know that Aldi have a new organic range of pasta and pasta sauces, icecream and some other stuff! Haven't tried the pasta but bought some of the sauce. Will let you know what it tastes like. Glad you enjoyed your ride, sounds like you gave him/her a good workout and you! When I have a shower and both girls are up, Chelsea watches the TV and I wheel Marley into the bathroom in her highchair and give her my homemade rusks to chew on. She thinks its very funny! I love it when the babies chat to themselves - I wonder what they are saying?

Bath - enjoy your night under the stars. It is beautiful outside and I hope you got to enjoy some adult company.

Rory - good idea to freeze the pork, too hot to cook tonight. Flynn sounds like he is really enjoying his swimming and well done on walking there too. I find it so hard to walk now as Chelsea cannot keep up (I am a fast walker!), so I usually have to wait until DH comes home and go on my own.

Ali - evap coolers do struggle in this weather, I have been watching the forecast for Perth and you have been having some scorchers! All the babies seem to be enjoying swimming. I can't wait to start in April but not looking forward to getting back into the bathers LOL!!! Enjoy Indian tonight. It is so nice to treat yourself to some time at the hairdressers.

CC - I wish we had a pool here. Even though IL's place is only 5 mins away it would just be nice to walk out the back and jump in, not load the car and all the crap we take! Ally sounds like she is doing great guns with her solids, thats fantastic. You will probably notice a big difference in her weight gain at her next check up. I find myself cooking heaps lately, it seems like I have bought alot to cook up but when I do cook it, there is really not that much there. Have you tried soy yoghurt? Marley got a few red marks on her face after eating yoghurt and I am so paranoid after her last allergic reaction to the formula that I thought I might try the soy. I will ask my GP on Wed.

It is still so hot outside!

Ceecee - LOL at the supermum comment - I wish!! As for flying, I am more taxiing on the runway ATM - but I am gonna ramp up and get more efficient next week. I am going to start 3 days a week work (2 days in office, one at home) because we realised that while 2 days a week is enough cashola to survive on, it is not enough for things like house insurance (due end of March) and car rego (due April). At least the house insurance can be paid in instalments.

Mel - I wonder what babies say to themselves too. I wonder what they make of the world - they must think something, in some way. What I wouldn't give to get inside Flynn's head just for a minute - it would be fascinating.

Jess - how did the Alpaca meeting go???

Swimming lessons - Ali, glad Tori is enjoying the lessons - are there all babies in the class or older ones as well? I can reallys ee the benefit in lessons for Flynn at a later stage, from what I saw of the lesson that was going on in the pool next to us. All the kids seemed to be a bit older, I am not sure if they have bubs sessions as well at our pool. It is only $9 a session for under fives, and when you consider it costs $4.40 for me to swim with Flynn on my own it only works about at about $4.50 a lesson.

Me time - IK I am jealous that you don't want me time! I certainly do!! But I guess it is less wanting time away from Flynn and more wanting my "whole life" to be organised and "proper". I mean, there are so many things a girls gotta do - pluck eyebrows, menu plan, work from home, exercise more, teach the boy to clap (so he doesn't fail him 8 month MCHN "test" LOL!!), tidy the study, select photos for framing in the hallway, scrapbook chirstmas photos, soak my feet and give myself a pedicure, read the interesting Anne Manne article on housework in today's Age - PHEW!!!

Somehow I think I should just accept that life is chaos, but it it in that chaos that we find our life!!

Better go start crossing stuff off my list LOL!!! Have a good night girls

PS: Flynn commando crawled today (so DH reckons - you never saw a bloke so proud!!) and went to sleep without crying. How does that Yazz and the Plastic Population song go? "The only way is up, baby...."

We’ve been broken down to the lowest turn
Bein' on the bottom line sure aint no fun

But if we should be evicted huh, from our homes,
we’ll just move somewhere else and still carry on

Oh (hold on) hold on (hold on) hold on Ooooh, aah, baby

(hold on) hold on (hold on) ooh oooh aah

The only way is up, baby for you and me now
The only way is up, baby for you and me now

    aaaaah…
