Well i have the feeling DD hates me. She has been in a foul mood the past few days (teeth). and throws and hits me and i tell DH and when he comes home she is a perfect cuddly loving angel...
Thats always the way isnt it PP. They give you hell all day then when daddy comes home its all peaches and cream!!!
Sarah Mikayla does the same thing except she takes whatever your giving her then just throws it on the floor - arrrggghhh they can be so frustrating at times cant they?? and then they go and do something so cute and sweet that our hearts melt and we forget all the bad stuff!!!!
Cels they're a little young for time out arent they?? I thought they had to be over 2 to really understand what it all means. Good luck with it. I hope it works - if it does we'll all be coming to you for tips and advise
I don't know Tina. I'll have to read up and find out before we go ahead with it. Caeleb is a very smart little boy. He seems to understand that there are consequences to his actions, so I figured it wouldn't take him too long to figure out that he'll spend a minute in a play pen on his own if he throws wobbly after wobbly. And it is only 1 minute.
I think they like to play up just for Mum. Caeleb is an angel for DH. As soon as I enter the room, the wobblys start and DH says... he was fine before you turned up. Great!!!
My all time favourite wobbly action is what I like to call the t-bag. Where they throw themselves on the floor and refuse to stand up and walk, so you try to pull them up onto their feet and they leave their legs limp, so it ends up looking like a t-bag!
DH has taught Caeleb to sign for when he wants food. So, that takes away one wobbly. He stands at the kitchen gate, screaming for something and I run around like a headless chook trying to guess... this morning, he wanted the cordial jug. Of course! Why didn't I think of that the first time?!?
Is it possible to have felt the baby move this early? I was laying there falling asleep last night and I swear I felt something move in there. Probably just an air bubble...
Celsie - bub would be pretty small at 9 weeks to cause movement... perhaps gas
I do a sort of time out i guess. If DD throws something at me it is removed from her and she isnt allowed it until she stops misbehaving. And she she hits me i pick her up and place her about 1 m from me and she isnt allowed to touch me until she is nice again...
not sure if it works but she knows she is being naughty!
They're not hitting intentionally, it's a sign of frustration, just like tantrums.
I'm pretty sure they are too young for time out, I would worry Lewis would just feel insecure if I left him somewhere for a certain amount of time, until I can explain why I am doing it and he fully understands what I am talking about. I did read somewhere though that they are most receptive to discipline between 10-15 months old.
Lewis is quite confused about it all . When I tell him something is naughty he shakes his head as if to agree but then does it again!
BTW I'm glad it's not just in my house that DH says 'he was fine until you walked in'!!!
As for where do they get it from. I think too it is frsutration. I have never even given ashley a little pat on the bum or anyting for being naughty so she didnt learn it from me to hit (although her cousin has hit her a number of times - he is 4 ) and i think she may have seen it at cc too!.
Ashley is no longer in CC. I am a full time SAHM now. lol (she only had 5 days in cc but still hehe)
And she is getting her canines through! omg!!!! just come through (that will make 14 teeth when the top two come through).
Well as for words.... still nothing new - although she is babbling all the time. She is doing more actions now... as in
Reach for her hat or gumboots = go outside
Reach to the fridge = hungry (caption obvious that one lol)
Taps her head = she wants to watch the bert and ernie Dvd (they pat their heads and rub their tummies Lol)
And she will want to lead me everywhere...
takes me to the change table if she needs her nappy changed
Takes me to the bath when she wants her bath etc
But in silence... how do you get them to start using words to describe what they want... or do they just do it one day?
