Sounds like she's doing great with the actions, I love the Bert & Ernie one!! Lewis doesn't do anything like that. If I ask him where something is he will go and get it, but he would never take me to change his nappy, that's brilliant
I think words can come anytime between 12-24 months can't they??
Just a quick post to subscribe to this thread as I haven't been online in a while (for some reason my computer is frustratingly slow these days, so sometimes I don't even bother switching it on).
Diana has been sick. She has a respiratory infection and was prescribed antibiotics, which she has swallowed maybe 10% of what she has been given and has spat out the rest. She is still coughing, so I may have to take her back to the doctor tomorrow if it doesn't stop.
Hope you're all doing well. Will BBL to read your posts.
BTW - Diana too has a lot of attitude these days. If she doesn't get what she wants she can put on quite a performance.
he has developed a nasty looking face that im sure superman would be scared of. a clenched jaw with bulging eyes and a fully body pose, not dissimilar to a body builders pose, along with a low and long growl ensures his displeasure is conveyed. i cant help but smirk at him when he does it. i try to turn my face but sometimes im too slow. im pretty sure its just a frustration thing, after all he is now a fully grown and independant man who doesnt need his nappy changed or to be feed when the time is right( which seems like all the time except dinner time).
we just got back from a weekend in noosa with friends and their little girl. what surprises me is the difference between boys and girls behaviour. girls are sweet and cuddly whilst boys dont stop at all.... battle of the sexes. so i think there is some merit in those studies that say there are ingrained differences between the sexes besides those that are taught or learnt. they are deffinatly hardwired differently!
still looking for work, and getting some gardening done at the same time.
Hey Dragonstorm, I agree on the nature V nurture debate. At playgroup all the girls sit nicely playing with dolls and all the boys are tear arsing around and climbing on things
Well Dragon & Sarah, Mikayla must definitely be a tomboy then because she definitely doesnt sit quietly playing with her dolls. She always been the roughest in her playgroup - including the boys!! LOL
PP I just repeat words to Mikayla throughout the day. When I change her nappy or she's having lunch, we play a word game where I say words which she'd use regularly and I ask her to repeat them. Most of the time she uses her own language but occasionally she'll come out with a new one. Its seems to work for us and in comparison to others in her playgroup (who hardly say anything) she's doing really well. In the last couple of days she's started saying hat - she's not allowed outside without one so its an important word in her mind. LOL
Zofia I hope Diana gets better soon xx
I agree that the hitting and tantrums are due to frustration but I definitely want to nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand!!! I've tried taking things off her until she settles down which seems to help her get over things quicker and she now knows that she needs to say sorry (give us a kiss and cuddle) if she hits us which she's so far been more than happy to do to get herself out of trouble
We took Mikayla for a walk on the beach today which she loved. I'm sorry I didnt take her swimmers with us because all she wanted to do was jump right in to the water - lucky I took a change of clothes LOL Will definitely be doing that again now that the weather is getting warmer. I've put some pics on facebook if anyone wants to have a look. (if your not already on my friends list just search tinanolan@optusnet.com.au and add me)
Well better get dinner ready. Will be back soon. Take care xx
1. DH's brother was in a near fatal motorbike accitdent. He lives interstate so we have been away visiting him. He is out of ICU now, but it sure does put life into perspective when things like this happen. It is a long road to recovery, but he is alive and kicking along so that is the most important thing.
2. I had another breast cancer scare, I had another lump come up where I had the other one removed (I don't know if you all remember, but I had it removed when I was breastfeeding and Kenzie was 3 months old ... absolute disaster!) Has to have ultrasounds and a core biopsy, turned out to be a cyst full of thick gross breast milk .. ugh! At least it wasn't nasty. Phew.
3. Yesterday morning my eldest daughter found glass in her cereal and swallowed half of it. I reced her to the hospital and they said she will probably be ok and just pass it through. Gave me quite a scare .. Kelloggs will be getting a phone call tomorrow morning. I am furious.
So yeah, it's been a full on month, I hope things settle down now. Dh and I have decided to TTC again!! I am hoping if I chart we can fall pregnant in the next month or 2. I'll keep you posted!! Very exciting!
I will come back later tonight when the kids are in bed to read though the thread and catch up with everyone!
