During the day, he sleeps either in his pram, on his bouncer, where ever, but, its not in his bedroom. We leave that for night time sleeping only. I do close the door to his room, but, i dont realy think its necessary, it makes no difference to his sleep.
The cot has solid ends, and is againt a wall, so, i suppose its really only one side that he can see out of, i could hang a blanket or something on the outside of the cot for a while, just to block his view.

    Debbie,

I wondered about putting Lewis in his cot after he'd been in a bassinette but it didn't bother him at all. He doesn't look out of the sides of the cot anyway. He looks at the animals on his wall though which he seems to like.

I know what you mean about letting them cry and feeling insecure but I feel now he's a bit older he will feel okay as long as he knows we are there. This morning I put him in the cot and I was tidying his room up. He cried a bit but I kept talking to him even though he couldn't see me and after about 5 minutes he dropped off. We are going to try it properly this weekend and not leave him more than 3 minutes to see if it works.

I've just noticed something really weird. Since I've had him, the hair under my arms has stopped growing! I'm not sure if I should be worried or not??

Debbie - does it matter that he can see out of the side of the cot? If he can hear what's going on and usually sleeps in his rocker etc during the day it might be comforting for him to go to sleep feeling like he is still a part of the goings on.

Mumof Lewis - no hairy armpits - you lucky lady.

I tried the self settling thing with Brianna this morning as I mentioned before. She went off to sleep really well but slept for one sleep cycle (45mins) then woke. I went to her room as soon as I heard her, before she cried too much. I then tried to settle her for another 20 mins with no success. Ah well....maybe it will come with age and practise.

nellnell - does she normally have big sleeps during the day?
Aiden doesnt. And, like i think either charly or celsie said before, maybe it is a growth spurt as well.

Sometimes when DD wakes after the 45min mark, I leave her and listen to her cry - if its abrupt and piercing I generally go in, pick her up and lo and behold, a burp escapes! However, if it's just that tired, grumpy cry/whinge, I'll leave her for the 5 or so 10mins that I am comfy with and then go in, do all the checks and then do the normal routine of putting her down for a nap.

But you're right, if it's in the arvy....pretty much no chance of further sleep but naps before and after that particular time I have found that she will either settle herself before I go in (usually just at that point I am about to walk in too! ) or she will take the usual settling time after I've been as though I have put her down for the nap for the first time.

My question is...........why is she such an angel when DH is home, either with me or with DD when I go out for 5 with other DD or on my own but then DH leaves and boof!! The halo slips to her ankles!!!!!! Like now for example: DH has just left for a bit and DD has decided to whinge/cry and then give me huge smiles when I go in .........................cheeky nana!!!

I can hardly believe that DD was 11weeks yesterday - it's crazy!! And I am made even more aware of how fast she is growing now that she is wearing the clothes that my first princess DD used to wear making me think, "Was DD#1 everthat small?!?!?" Makes me all teary thinking of all those precious memories

Debbie - I was having a think ()and I think because you have taught your little man to sleep where ever, I think you have a clever little boy on your hands and he will probably take to sleeping in his cot during the day like a dream. Maybe you could try it for one nap time at a time each day without a cover on the side he can see out of, doing the same nap time each day to see how he goes..... hth

Ooh, silence! Might go hang the washing before DD#1 has to get up, bbl beautiful ladies!! Mwa!!

    Hi everyone

Mumof lewis - yes I hear you on the no armpit hair thing. Isn't it great? I heard somewhere that it is a hormonal thing and that a few months after giving birth your hair thins. This includes the hair on your head too. It's not permanent although I don't know how long it lasts.

Diana slept for about 6 hours straight during the night on two occassions last week. Yay! (Although the night before last she woke up twice for a feed and once last night.) She is starting to reach for things, sometimes grabbing my hair or my necklace when I change her and batting at the toys hanging from her rocking chair. She is becoming generally interested in the world around her and sometimes reaches out her little arms as if wanting a hug. It sooo cute.

Thanks Starfish for the hair explanation! What a bonus! Nature must realise we just don't have time for such things as shaving our armpits!

    Hi ladies

Well it sounds like everyones doing well with settling their bubs! Mikayla still wont sleep in her cot for longer than 10mins but she will sleep for 6-7 hours straight in our bed!! For the moment we've decided to co-sleep at night and try to get her into the cot during the day. I've been out a fair bit this week so it hasnt really helped the cause but maybe by the end of next week we'll have success. Well fingers crossed anyway

My little princess is 2 months old today!!! I cant believe just how much she's changing. She's doing something new everyday - smiling at everything and even almost laughing. Our babies will be all grown up before we know it!!!

I got a message from the paed about Mikayla's hips. He said that the ultrasound was not completely normal. The top of femur bone should be covered by the pelvic bone by 50% - Mikayla's is 44% which he said is relatively mild and her hips seemed stable but it'll need to be checked again in 6 weeks time. I've got an appointment with him on Tuesday so we'll discuss it further then but at this stage we're hoping that there wont be any further movement and it will grow normally.

Well she's asleep now so I'd better go and make the most of the time I have - dusting, mopping, washing - YUK!!

    BBL - Take care xx

MumofLewis - Lucky for you and your arm pits... mine are the same lol
Teepee - I hope that it all works out okay with Mikayla's hips. SHe is so beautiful.
Starfish - just read your birth story!! What an adventure huh!

Ashley has been getting better with her sleep too now, mostly only wakes once overnight between 2-4am (have been giving dreamfeed before i go to bed). And yes starfish isnt it amazing how interested in things they are now. Ashley wants to play in her play gym and watch the puppies play etc.

Well i got a faint line on a HPT yesterday june girls!! I have had AF pain for the past week with nausea, dizziness and extreme fatigue(not to mention 5 days of ferning on maybe baby).. so i did a test and a faint line come up. I wasnt sure what to think and seeing i did a poas test at lunchtime, So i did 2 more this morning with FMU (one at 4am and one at 630am) and NEGATIVE.....

So i have no idea what is going on with my body - must be hormonal , confused!!!

p.s Debbie- Ashley is the same with no wanting to sleep in the bedroom during the day but as soon as it is dark she is out like a light. I think during the day she likes to sleep where she knows you are close by as it must be a lighter sleep, if i am cooking etc and she can hear me banging and crashing then she will sleep in the lounge etc as soon as i leave the room to come in here to say hi to you girls and the room goes quiet she wakes up!!!

    Hi girls!!

Teepee2 - am thinking of your little girl and you...I hope that this is as far as it's going to go

Princessmya - our bodies certainly like to keep us on our toes don't they?!?! So are you hoping for that BFP sooner rather than later?...I hope that doesn't seem too rude to ask because I will be sending all types of baby vibes at you if that's where your heart is headed!

DD#2 seems to have fallen into a beautiful sleep routine! I have been holding my breath the past couple of days as she seems to mix things up just as I get used to something. I think she had just dropped out of a growth spurt as well - that particular week was horrendous! But now her days seem to be going almost the same within 1/2 hour of feed times, if that makes sense. It certainly makes looking after the older DD easier as she is in a lovely routine herself......so am having a rather good day I even had time to make a broccoli soup today, one I had never made before and oh it was yummo!! (the cream completely destroys the healthy factor of having broccoli in it, but you get that!! Hehe!!)

Anyways, time to dive off and get the ball rolling of getting little ones up! Have a fab day tomorrow celebrating those precious daddies out there!
    Mwa!!

    Hi Girls,

Princessmya - Congratulations, keep us informed if it turns into a BFP. wow, does that mean you have to be on two threads, the due in 2008 and the born in June 2007! You will be busy!

Lewis has been really weird for the last few days. He literally wakes for his feed, only drinks half a bottle before falling back to sleep again. He is sooo sleepy. This is after not sleeping all day for a few weeks. Is anyone else's bub doing this? At first I thought it was the heat but it's not that hot now. He doesn't have a temperature so I don't think he is sick and he does still smile. I'm wondering if his routine is about to change? Or do they sleep during a growth spurt? I thought that they didn't sleep and ate more.

    Hi ladies

WOW Princessmya how exciting that you might be pregnant again! I'd love to have another baby straight away but I'm scared I might not be able to cope with 2! But we are playing with fire because we're not doing anything to stop it from happening

Sarah Mikayla did exactly that a couple of weeks ago. I was told that the week after a growth spurt babies are really tired and dont eat as much. Did he eat more than usual last week??? Apparently they burn so much energy while growing that it tires them out and they then spend alot more time sleeping to conserve energy again.

Hope all the Daddies had a great Father Day!!

    Speak soon. Take care xx

    Hi Everyone

Ava is 2 months 3 weeks and she is being bottle fed. When should we start introducing solids and other liquids into her diet?

    Hi Tanz
i am not sure with formula as i know with BF bub they can continue being exclusively BF for 12 months. Howver most guidelines stated that bub's digestive system is mature enough to process solids from 6 months on... as for fluids, water every now and then (cooled boiled) should be fine but just a little to reduce risk of constipation and keep hydration while om formula..... (ff mums correct me if i am wrong).

Mum of Lewis - Ashley has been the same - sleeps a lot between day feeds. ithink it prob is a growth spurt thing... i wouldnt be worried at this stage.

As for the HPT's ive given up, the AF pain has stopped, every now and then i am queasy but i am putting it down to pushing it too hard and eating too little.... Will see....

princessmya that is great news that you might be pregnant again, Tina we are in the same position, not sure if I could handle 2 bubs right now but we aren't doing anything to prevent it either lol, we would like to try for another one when Ava is about 1.

    Congratulations princess mya
