Sarah - it is such a trial and error!

Trust me i am very tempted some days to put Ashley down for a second sleep but she is seriously still going like an energiser bunny at 10 pm if i do. And she has a good 2-3 hour sleep in the day now (never a set time.... sometimes down at 1130 - sometimes 1.30 - depends if i am busy in the morning or not).

I hope you an lewis come to an agreement on what is best for him.

    Hugs

    I hope this post works!!!

I think I am the worlds most cursed person when it comes to computers!! Remember I posted awhile ago saying that we had lost our computer because DH had spilled wine all over it ?!?! Well, $1000 later and a few months without internet we had it all fixed and everything was great!

Well 2 weeks after getting the computer back .. I was handing DH a coffee .. and guess what, stupid me somehow ended up dropping it all over the laptop

I was so upset. We tipped it upside down .. and for a few hows it still worked! Just as I breathed a sigh of relief .. it shut down and never restarted. We tossed up getting it fixed a second time .. waiting for months again ... and much it DH's delight ..we bought a new one for 2,100 and it wayyy better than the old one. We also got out the desk top computer for me and DH upgraded it for me YAY!

So if I spill anything over on the desk it only wrecks the keyboard .. not the whole computer. I am also going to get a non spill coffee cup for DH to use near his lappy.

Then ... I got onto bellybelly ready to join in again .. and I wanted to upgrade my ticker to a 2 year old one. I searched on google. I click what I thought was a ticker website and up pops porn ..EW! I was quiet shocked as this has never happened to me before. I called DH and he said ok lets install interguard (I was really concerned my DD (12) would be exposed to the same thing) its a filtering program that makes sure nothing discusting comes up on the screen .. even if you click on it .. so I installed that and make a cuppa sit down to bellybelly .. and .. it dosent work!! The program we installed deemed bellybelly inappropriate!! I was fuming at thos time as Kenzie was asleep and I was wasting "Me" time!

So I called DH .. he fixed it .. (uninstalled program) we have to look into net nanny i think, have said to DD no googleing untill we get things sorted out.

So here I am .. that this works! If it does work .. will BBL for personals when Kenzie is down for her morning sleep

    to everyone

BTW .. This is Jen I changed my username as I wanted some anoniminity?

    Default Long Post!

Mackenzie is such "Night Garden Addicted" munchkin! She is walking everywhere and I can probably resign to the fact she is now my toddler not my baby .. I need another baby! I am so clucky its embarrassing.

DH and I are finally getting married after 8 years (I have been calling him my husband for the past 3 years ) So November 1st is the big day. My 2 DD's are going to be my flowergirl and maid of honor along with my sister as the bridesmaid. I am soooo excited! Trying to lose some more "bubby" weight before the big day .. but I'm not too worried. It going to be a garden wedding .. On top of a mountain .. the view is amazing .. I'll post photos after the big day.

After we get married DH and I are going to TTC again! Although I'm not sure Mackenzie will enjoy sharing mummy , she is really a mummy's girl.

We are still co-sleeping and she is still on the booby 3 times a day. Mackenzie hasn't slept through the night yet .. still wakes up at least 1-2 times a night I have gotton used to it now .. she has 2 sleeps during the day so I hope she is getting enough sleep. I have tried to wean her out of our bed .. but she only sleeps for 30 mins then cries .. I tried to persevere with it and evened up putting her back to sleep 15 (yes!! fifteen) times!!! So she is now back in our bed .. she snuggles into me like a little koala and I have to say its very cute .. but it's starting to take it's toll on my back.

I am going to post for some advice weaning her. I just can't seem to do it! She still loves to go in the baby pouch and follows me around the house everywhere! I love it!!! I love being a stay at home mum still .. although sometimes I miss adult conversation .. so getting back on BellyBelly will be great! I missed you all and I hope all the June babies and mummies are H&H!

Thanks to everyone for Mackenzie's birthday wishes! We had a really lovely "Teddy Bears" picnic party and although she didn't really know what all the fuss was about she sure did enjoy the cake!

There has been alot of discussion on immunisation .. heres my 2 cents .. When DD was born .. she was given the hep b shot .. no questions to me.. just jab jab .. I was a bit annoyed at that .. not being asked .. but at the time was happy to have it done.. I guess I just like to be given choice iykwim. Went to the nurse at 2 months and she was given her 2 month shots .. asked the nurse about possible side effect etc etc .. and she was very vague .. and didnt really offer my any info. I jumped on the net and was SHOCKED at the article on bellybelly. she was then 4 months... I put it off and put it off.. DH said he wanted her done.. so at 6 month we went home (I call home QLD we live interstate) and consulted the Dr I have the utmost faith in. He said without a daoub immunise he has 3 kids and they are all done. So .. She was given her 4 month jabs at 6 months. Then .. BOOM Huge fever .. sweats .. lethergic.. I panic .. then I panic some more.. took her back to doctors.. he said she'll be fine. She hasn't had the 6 month ones yet .. DH wants her done .. I'm undecided but will prolly get her done because he has as much say as I do .. so in 2 weeks will have her 6 month jab then i'll give her her 12 jab at 18 months. So she is effectively 6 months behind. I dont know if I could live with myself if I didnt get her done .. and she died. My doctors said he had written out LOTS of death certificates for children dying from immunisaable diseases. But has yet to write one for giving a shot. It's so hard!!

PinkPalace :: Happy Birthday Ashley for the 10th of June !! Back molars are just terrible arn't they SAD Does the bonjella help? I think I am going to take a leaf out of your book and try for the 1 sleep a day .. if she only has 1 solid sleep perhaps she will sleep in her own cot for more than 30 minutes and get used to it. I am just not sure how to go about it as at 9.30 - 10am she is so grumpy and whingy she *needs* it iykwim. How is your pregnancy going ?!? I am slightly jealous, hehe I would love to be pregnant again .. hopefully soon! Mackenzie get a face rash also .. it comes and goes .. and I have noticed its when she is cutting teeth .. he cheeky go bright red .. then develop a rash .. I put bepanthem on it and it goes away when it teeth come though.

MumofLewis :: Happy Birthday Lewis for the 3rd of July!! Mackenzie has 3 bottle of cows milk a day .. and she has also become really constipated .. it is really painful for her. I have just started giving her pear juice for lunch in a cup. The doctor said it is a natural laxiatative. So I'll let you know how it goes. (I make sure I brush her teeth afterwards because juice isnt good for the teeth. Good luck with Lewis's sleeping .. Sleep time in our household is different on a daily basis .. I am probably to worst person to give advice on sleep as I have written above! Congrats on Lewis taking his first 4 steps!! Won't be long now untill your chasing him all around the house!! This is such an exciting time isnt it!!

Celsie :: Happy Birthday Caeleb for the of June!!!Wow he sure is having loads of milk! With the switching to cows milk .. have you tried putting in 1 part cos milk to 3 parts formula and slowly increasing it over time? Sometimes that can help with the weaning process ?? I haven't read Additive alery .. but I really try to make everything I give my family "from scratch" for Christmas I want Santa to bring me a bread maker .. so I can make my own bread! I know the additives in food is just eye opening isnt it. I even want to make my own vege patch .. plus the cost of food is just ridiculous!

Starfish :: Happy Birthday for Diana for the 19th of June! Hope you had a fantastic trip to coffs harbour, is Diana almost fully toilet trained ? That is amazing that she poos on the potty at such a young age!

Feathertop :: Happy Birthday for Angus for the 29th June!! You sound really busy! Make sure you take time to relax .. even just a few minutes! It's so hard working full time and being a mum & wife.

Charlyfrog :: Happy Birthday Chloe for the 14th of June !! I just saw you posted all the June Baby's Birthdays in the Messages Forum .. what a gorgous thing to do!! Will definately reply after this to all your posts in there! I can understand your excitment about the toy sale .. I hope we get our tax return in time!! Actually .. maybe I don't or I might just blow the lot!!

dragonstorm :: Happy Birthday to Nate on the 22nd June!! The party sounds like it was fantastic!! Getting together with family is just wonderful isnt it (well .. sometimes! HA!)

Well thats it for me .. if you got to the end of my post for you!! Happy Brithday to all the June Babies!! Sorry I couldn't post on the day .. Stupid computers.

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well....i am so sick of the winter everyone except for myself is sick..for the second time round!!!! Not happy!! Poor Ashlyn and Rylan have gotten the horrible cold sore gene (if there is one lol) from me and when ever they get sick up comes these horrible monster cold sore, Ashlyn has one on the inside of her top lip (it may even be an ulcer?) and it is soo swollen and horrible my poor girl.

With the milk situation if you want to cut it down..you can try just giving them the morning 'bottle' on their cereal...and not offer the actual bottle, and the others can be in a cup instead of bottles iykwim? If they still associate the bottle with bedtime then give them that drink in a bottle to settle them but its all up to your routine....i have stopped giving Ashlyn a bottle when she goes to sleep as i didnt want her to go back to relying on it to sleep, so know she has it then maybe 10-15mins later she will go down.

I hope that made sense...Ashlyn was sitting on my lap and hit enter so sorry to those who got the half post lol

wow Jen, what an update! Congrats on the wedding, it sounds gorgeous. And as for Mackenzie she does sound like a little cuddly koala! As much as I don't want Lewis to sleep with us, I just wish sometimes he would lie down for a cuddle and a little nap, but NO CHANCE, he will not fall asleep on my bed, he is up and down like a yo-yo! he really does have ants in his pants.

Rylans Mum - Poor Ashlyn, what do you give her to soothe a coldsore? I would have no idea.
I'm going to stop Lewis's afternoon bottle and put it in a cup like you suggested. For now I will give him a bottle when he wakes and the other before bed in the evening, but that is a good idea too about pouring it over his cereal in the mornings, I will graduate onto that I think.

This morning he didn't wake til 7am so he went back to bed at 11.30am. I'm hoping this will be his only sleep today and then he will sleep better tonight. I think there is a big transition period where they may need one sleep, may need two for a few months and it has to be judged day by day. Of course if I make plans he will no doubt need 2 sleeps and if we are home all day he will no doubt just have one

Well I took Ashley to the dr and she went through a million and one scenerios of what cold be causing the facial rash.
I showed photos I took in the morning to show that is changes throughout the day too.

Firstly she is hoping it is just her body flaring up to having the runny nose and colds that have been in her system the past 6 weeks.
And I have given her some zyrtec (antihistamine) to see if it clears up the runny nose and if the rash goes away then it is probably just the viral side of things flaring her up.

If it doesn?t then she suggests we start on an elimination diet.

Starting with Dairy. Cut out the cows milk and back on formula (as he switched around the time that the rash started and she suggested that sometimes just the little extra of something can tip an allergy over the edge). She said that she should be fine with cheese/yougrut as they are cultured where as milk isn?t. but eliminate to start with all dairy for 6 weeks then slowly introduce. SO I asked should she be on a different formula than s26 gold as it is dairy based and she said don?t switch to soy but go back to what she was on to be safe. So I have bought some s26 gold to go back on.

She then suggested to also stop anything with nuts in case it was a reaction from that ? even coconut (from my anzac biccies) although she thinks it is unlikely as it started weeks before the biscuits were introduced but to eliminate for the 6 weeks to be sure

And to get rid of the pillow in her cot and wash all the sheets in hot water and sun out to eliminate dust mites (as it is one of my allergens so possibly her?s too).

We can use hydrocortisone cream on her face if we want to help clear it up but I am not keen to do that as the rash isn?t bothering her and it is so mean and nasty that stuff in my opinion (drys out the skin very quickly).

And no more wash in the bath (just h20). Although this is also unlikely to be a cause as if she was reacting to the wash it would be all over her body but just for a while only warm h20 for the bath.

    So here we go.

I will start with the zyrtec and s2-6 gold and and if no improvement by the weekend then we will have to start an elimination diet on the poor bub! 

SArah - i guess i am back to step one with the milk too! lol

ok, I have 3 seconds to post .......

Serenity - soooooooo good to have you back!! Missed you and woah!! Noice post!!! You're amazing that you kept up!! Your little one sounds divine!! so exciting re: wedding and babies

PinkPalace - Is it anything like ezcema?? DD#1 seems to be prone to rashes of varying sorts including ezcema.....which she had so bad as a bubby. Then she broke out in the really weird welt like rash when DD#2 was only a few weeks old. We did elimination in the diet but nothing came to our attention. We gave her some anti-histamine and that seem to calm the raging rash. Weird thing was that it would come and go as we would watch her play and once every inch of her body had been touched at one point or another, it disappeared!! It really worried us as her face puffed at one point! A few weeks later, it came back, but went in a day as we gave her the anti-histamine straight away. After consulting with the gp he said that sometimes with rashes, 50% of parents work out what's causing them and the other 50% never do and the rash disappears and never returns...................which is what has happened with DD#1 as its been a year since and nothing else! There are so many variables aren't there?!?! Thinking of you

Ok, that's my 3 seconds, bbl lovlies!!!!

    hello ladies,

well ive finally cleaned up the back yard but theres this dirty great big black hole in the middle now. guess i'll have to make a feature of it and concrete the edges so i have an excuse to chop down the other three dead pines.....

in regards to the milk scenario... we had the same problem with Nate. runny poo then fudgy poo couldnt make his mind up...cut back to two bottles of cows milk during the day and stayed on formula for the others plus water.

now another issue. late at night he wakes up and begins to scream. seemingly in pain. i assumed it may be his bum so i change him but nothing there except wee. screaming still constant. the little blokes in real pain i think the screaming and ridgitity of his body means hes hurt something somewhere or hes teething. i put some bonjella on which he hates and then when this doesnt work and i start to worry that the neighbours have called the cops i pick him up and walk down the hall and silence.......it seems hes learnt that if he screams enough we'll pick him up.little bugger is making himself hoarse screaming...help me... i cant work it out. has this happened to anyone else here?

during the day hes become an angry man sometimes. maybe its just his independance, i dont know, all help is greatly accepted.

    ciao

Dragonstorm - perhaps it's wind or stomach ache? Caeleb wakes at night crying and we give his tummy and back a rub and sure enough, we eventually get some wind out. We also give him 5ml of Infants Friends. Great stuff. Good for wind, teething and it's all natural. Plus, babies like the taste of it.

PinkPalace :: Have you thought that it might by the washing powder your using? Often facial skin is more sensitive than other parts of the body and with her face laying on the pillow in her cot .. ?? It might be worth switching powders to one for sensitive skin to see if it makes a difference ?? Anyways .. just a suggestion!

Dragonstorm :: Kenzie sometimes does this .. its when she is constipated she screams and when I pick her up she is comforted untill she is "finished" other times .. she is throwing a tanty .. yesterday I tried to give her some toast instead of her usual weeties and she threw it on the floor screwed up her face and screamed! It was quite funny although I didn't laugh on the outside !

I think it definatly the age ... and I think it gets worse arg! Although some children seen to breeze through this age .. the beauty of individuality!

Celcie :: Is infants friend like a "panadol"?

    Dragonstorm,
This is what we are going through!! The last 4 nights Lewis has woken up but the first 3 nights it was only about 30-60mins after he fell asleep. Screams but when I pick him up he starts laughing and is wide awake.
So yesterday I took PP advice and gave him one sleep in the day only, 11.30-1.30pm. He was shattered by 6.30pm so off he went to bed, slept like a dream....until 10.30pm when he screamed. Then stayed awake for 2 hours. It's so unlike him he always sleeps straight through. We have been questioning the cows milk lying heavy in his tummy, so I might go back to formula in the evening. But apart from that we are totally stumped as to what is up with him. Mind you on a good note he slept until 7.20am this morning His new world record!

My MIL reckons he's just learning to test us but I don't think he's clever enough to wake himself up every night to do that!

Serenity - Infants friend is a natural medicine that has aniseed and things in and is a good calmer for babies. I gave mine to my SIL as I haven't used it in months but I think I may get another bottle!

hi mum of lewis - sorry that he woke up at 10 - but wow till 7am is great afterwards..
It honestly took ashley as few weeks for her to work out to have a decent day sleep... now if i try put her down a second time she screams..

Last night she went back on formula (still working on what this rash is on her face)... and she went to sleep at 8pm and sleep solid until 7am! didnt wake once (first time in a week).... i woke up waiting for her to wake at 3am and nothing!

Its hard Sarah because they go through so many changes, is lewis walking yet? I hear when they start learning new motor skills they wake sometimes because their minds are so active?

Take heart hopefully it wont last forever, what ever it is, teething, cold maybe 0 it was freezing last night.~

Serenity - we have always used sensitive powder, so that isnt it. we have taken the pillow out now in case it was the fibres. she looks better this morning ... excpet has a cold now!!!

I am not saying this for any other reason than to hopefully help as I am reading about all your poor little bubba's with seemingly tummy aches ......DD#2 has only woken up once or twice crying in the middle of the night but after a quick mummy cuddle she resettles and sleeps through til 7.30am.........she has never had cows milk, only S26 Step 2 formula and water (oh she has had maybe 50mls one night but that was a horrid potential poisoning episode.............gawd! A story I am moving on from - she's fine though )

So am thinking that while some bubbies take to cows milk, it could be too early for alot of the little ones here?!?

However, another idea to add to teething/wind/hot/cold etc etc etc etc !!!! or the screaming is kinda what you mentioned Dragonstorm - I have read that they can go through stages of simply having separation anxiety issues, which is what I think DD#2 has had a couple of times as it only takes a few minutes of snuggles and then she's back having games with Noddy They just need that reassurance that mummy and/or daddy is still there for them.......and not learning to test us - I agree with you on the one MumofLewis!!

Like I said, just throwing out other thoughts but they may not be too helpful but am thinking of you all!!!

I just spoke with the nurse at the chemist and she said lots of babies find it hard to suddenly break down the protein of cows milk when they have had formula where the protein was broken down for them. So I've decided to put him on follow on formula and really slowly introduce the cows milk.
She also gave me a chart of how much calcium they need. Basically 500-600mg a day. 240ml of cows milk has 264mg so they only need 580 ml a day and that's if they are not having yoghurt, cheese etc aswell. So I'm also going to reduce his milk a bit.

Anyway hopefully he will be a new bub tonight!!

me again I just had to pop in coz I am so excited!! I finally finished a scrap booking page of when DD#1 (not #2!!) was 7 months old!!!
(yes - I am waaaaaaayyyyeeeeeee behind!!)

    BUT!!

The reason I am so excited as i had been hanging out to do this particular page as it is of DD#1 playing in the autumn leaves infront of our old house......and I had collected and dried a massive bunch of those very leaves with the sole/soul (sp?? ) purpose of scrapbooking them with the pics.............

............so 3 years & 1 month later, I have finally used those leaves on a beautiful double page spread titled, "When Autumn Leaves Start To Fall"

I am so happy!! Now only 3 years and 1 month worth of DD#1 scrapbooking to go and am already behind 1 year and 1 month with DD#2......................

DD#2 update: ok so I know that lots of the bubs here are taking first steps or tearing up the floor on their pins already . Well DD#2 has recently started her favourite game - if I am laying on the floor she'll pull herself onto her feet, steady herself, then throw her arms in the air with a big smile, balance for a couple of seconds on her own and then ensures she falls forward so as to bodyslam me!!!! So all excited about that and in no hurry for her to be tearing around any faster than what she already is!! Hehe.......

......so I leave her playing with big sister in the lounge, turn my back for two seconds, turn round and ............she has learnt how to climb onto the lounge!!!!!!!!!! and !!

    Hi everyone

Charly - yay on your scrapbooking! I know how it feels to be way behind and what a great feeling it is to finally make progress (I recently updated Diana's website after months of inactivity). Does DD#2 know how to climb off the couch as well as on? Diana has recently learned to get down off furniture feet first (rather than head first like she used to), so I am not too worried when I see her climbing now.

PP - hope Ashley gets better soon. Poor thing.

Dragonstorm - I agree with Charly, that the screaming may just be separation anxiety. Diana sometimes wakes up crying, but as we co-sleep, she calms down quickly after a cuddle and/or a breastfeed.

Jen - welcome back! No, Diana is not fully toilet trained yet. She is still in nappies, but uses them mostly for wees. For poos, she goes in the potty. So I suppose she's half toilet trained.

I have a question re feeding - how many meals do your bubs eat per day and how many breastfeeds/bottles do you give them? Diana usually gets solids 3 times per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner/supper) and about 5 breastfeeds (1 at each meal plus morning and afternoon tea). She also has 1-2 breastfeeds at night. Is this normal? All your babies seem to be having fewer breastfeeds...

Hi to everyone else. Hope to be back soon with more personals. Hope you all have a great weekend!
