    Woohoo me first!

Jodie, my DH is 6'3", I'm average at about 5'6". Darcy loves to eat....anything, she just loves to eat. She mainly has what we have and that includes seasoned and spiced stuff. FIsh pieces, nuggets noodles and frozen veges are easy if I'm pushed. If I'm really pushed she has the "Only Organics" Jar food - it's the only one she really likes. Scrambled egg, cereal, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, cucumber, tomato, pizza.....I could go on forever. The only thing she doesn't really like is icecream. If what we are eating is a bit hard to eat, I blitz it, if not she just uses her fingers.
    Good luck today.

Yeah GL Jodie with the imms.

I am so jealous of you girls when you talk food. I really feel we are waaaayyyy..... behind you gals! I spend an absolute fortune on baby food and for him to only eat half a small jar atm (at the absolute most - WITH FUSS), it is such a waste. He is just too busy to eat atm, it is sooo frustrating, grits his teeth and chucks a tanty that he wants out of the high chair! He seems to be good with food if I am in the lounge munchin on something and he thinks mmmmm... that looks interesting and whalaa he tries it. But it is frustrating when it is a messy food as we get it everywhere. But see when he eats like this it is not much and that is why I prefer to feed him still then I know what he is getting. But in saying that I am willing to keep trying things. Like yesterday I cooked a lasagne early so it was ready for his 5pm dinner. I put it in one of those suction type plates and nope he wrenched it off and chucked it all over the ground! Grrrr..... I keep running out of ideas, am sick of wasting food and am soooooo over this feeding situation!

These are the foods I am finally having success with:

    milk arrowroot bickies
avocado (me feeding it too him)
    rice savory chips
    ham stick
    sometimes cheerios

God I can hardly even think, but don't think there is much more! See meal times are soooo stressful!!!!

Sheree, Darcy doesn't eat reall well in the high chair either, so when she's had enough we let her down and ask if she .wants anymore. As she .walks around often she'll come back and grab a bite and usually finishes it that way.
Sorry about the typing I have a helper.

She only eats a small tins worth at a time, but i offer her stuff often. Heinz make these cheesy stick things, she like them and the fruit bars though they're a bit messy.

Does he like to feed himself?

Kim when I say doesn't like the highchair I mean, like 2 spoon fulls at the most and he is crackin up big time! Lachlan will also come back and forward to me in the lounge with his hand out but only if he likes it as he is very fussy child. He just goes back and forward back and forward with a trail of food behind him! Even when he does this again it is not alot he is eating maybe two attempts to put food to his mouth and that is it. The cheesy sticks are they like a rusk???? Generally doesn't like feeding himself no, unless he likes the food otherwise (which is hard to find) like I said chucked the whole suction plate onto the floor. Gosh do you know how hard they are too lift when stuck, but noooooo my child manages to do it! He is determined he doesn't like food, gosh Wade and I love food and sleep and he does neither!

Leanne we have always had feeding issues and it doesn't appear to get any easier for us! I have tried him on weetbix, won't have a bar of it. Like I said even baby food doesn't want it off late either. It is just so frustrating and I know for a fact if he doesn't have a full tummy he will wake all night long too.

I have tried sooo many things, but he is just not really wanting to eat.

Kaitlyn goes through stages regarding what she likes to eat. Some days she just does not want to and would prefer to drink, so I let her.
Like yesterday - she did not want der weetbix for breakfast or her sandwich for lunch, but was happy to down a small warm milo and ate a baby meusli bar no worries.
Then come dinner she wolfed down a little of our ravioli. So she did not eat too much, but then on other days give her anything and the mouth is open and she's there clapping her hands wanting more.
Sheree I would just keep perservereing. (sp?) Sometimes Katy will only eat food off my plate, so I give myself a little bit more and she thinks she's eating my dinner, but she's not if you know what I mean. I asked my GP about it and he said not to worry. Many kids our kids' ages are like this and as long as they are drinking there is not too much to worry about. At this age they are more interested in what is going on around them and what they can get into. So so true.
Hope it works out for you.

Sheree I don't know what to suggest.

Though when I was in the chemist yesterday I noticed there is a product
for children who refuse to eat. It's a drink that all the essentials in it.

Thanks Leanne, I would rather suggestions then no suggestions, thank you.

I then just tried a stew and he hated it, so I tricked him and gave him his rice chips that he loves and I sneakily put a spoonful in every now and again. Aren't I a mean mummy!

kim - i will try pocket change then maybe with next bub. i love your attitude to life, i am nore of a 'thats too hard im not even gonna try' kinda girl, would love to trun that around though, i'll just keep saing to myself "i can achieve everything", lets hope it works...Im really hoping to bf next bub to 12 months and beyond, fingers crossed.

sorry i can't rememver the rest of the personals cause of the new thread...

food...what a constant battle, from 6-10 months he would eat anything and everything and heaps of it, though there are several things which makes his reflux play up. Now there are obviously too many other better things to do than sit down and eat. ATM his daily diet is

    toast with vegemite X2
    weetbix X2

    banana
    yogurt
    dry bikkies with peanut butter

    tinned two fruits
baby custard out of the tin or jar
    sultanas/dried blueberries
    cheesestick

he will also sometimes try our food during the day and tea time, but usually doesn't eat much unless its pizza, burger or chips then he would eat til he bursts, sometimes i feel like a really bad mum when i let him share takeaway. he used to eat heaps of veges but has recently gone off them, an hopeing his eating gets better when we buy a dining room table and eat together.

Archie and I went to playgroup for the first time today, was really nervous, but i know it is importnant for Arch to be around other kids. this is gonna sound awful but as i walked into the gate my heart sank cause there was a woman there who we are family friends with, were really close friends til Archie was born. Basically before Archie we were all best friends and we were involved in everything to do with their little boy, but when Archie came along they didn't give two hoots about Archie they just turned every conversation straight to their kid, and she tells me all the things i do wrong as a mum, i could go on forever. So i was all geared up to go to this playgroup just accross from our house where i didn't know anyone and i could just go there and make new friends (i am very shy and nervous with new people) now im worried that casue i had to talk to this woman that all the other mums will judge me casue im friends with her, but i actually can't stand her. Im probably just making this out to be way bigger than it is. Anyway Archie had lots of fun so thats the main thing. i really need to stop worrying about what other people think and just be a confident mum......easier said than done.

Really sorry for that big whinge, i needed it though...

leanne - lol at you being a mean mummy, i do that too sometimes rarely works though, it can be really stressful trying to feed them hey?!

I'm not having it easy with Shaun's eating. Sometimes I'm scared he's not eating enough. He just seems so fussy. And he loves anything that's sweet - but I don't want to give him sweet things all the time.

It was so great when we discovered chicken nuggets - but now he won't have a bar of them
and he loves cheese (tasty) - but not cheese sticks ?
one day he will eat baby food - next day won't touch it.
one day eats fresh veges - not the next

To make matters worse I don't "cook". Yariv & I rarely sit down for a proper meal. It's either take away, or whip something up late (pasta, finger foods etc). My MCHN said "feed shaun what you eat"... ha!

So I was just hunting for ideas. Its been hard for the last 4 months because I've been sick, and had no energy to prepare food for any of us. But now I'm feeling a bit better. I just need to find some time and I will make up some batches of rissotto and baby pasta and muffins. God... I need a bigger freezer!!!

My maternal nurse also said I should let shaun feed himself with a spoon!!!!! AAAahhhhh I dread the thought of it. I dread the mess! He eats finger foods (cheese, nuggets, fruit) - but even then it ends up on the floor half the time (cat hangs around at meal times!). Does anyone else's child feed themselves with a spoon yet??

Shaun had his shots a couple of hours ago and he was a little trooper! One in each leg, and one in the arm, and not even a whimper out of him! The doc had a spinning train on his desk, and Shaun was totally obsessed with that. We came home, and he was soooo tired.. so he's had a bottle and been asleep for 2 hours now.

I think my m/s is still lingering around I've been vomitting each morning... but then I feel okay. I guess it's a good thing, because I am at the "limbo" stage of the pregnancy. There is no kicking yet, and the m/s had eased up... so I started to panic a bit. I considered hiring a doppler so I could hear the babies heart beat. But I can't find anyone local who has one. So I guess I'll just have to wait a few more weeks and the kicking will start. So, as much as I hate vomitting; it's a good sign.

Gosh I would hate to have ms right now Jodie, you are a trooper. And no there is no way I would give Lachlan a spoon if its any indication what he does with finger food, just throws it onto the floor there is no way I am going with the spoon.

Elissa, I am lucky to get and 1/8th of what you get into your little boy! I try and I try and I try again, sooooo much waste! He just doesn't enjoy food like me..............

I am starting to feel sick again, 4th cold since we moved here at the end of Jan, what is going on!!!!

But you went Elissa, and that's the main thing (thanks for the ocmpliment). Remember you don't HAVE to talk to her, remember you have something in common with all those other women too - a little person.

Gees Louise, Sheree, I was hoping he might have found his groove. Yep they're sort of shaped like a rusk but have a biscuit consistency. What about rice bubbles? THey're quite a plain taste.

Darcy won't eat the cheese stick either. There's a fair bit of salt in them, maybe that's why. Darcy has risotto often, cos I have it often. I just put he leftovers in jars for her. Bolognese sauce with added grated/chopped veges. But only a small amount (she prefers no meat) mixed with couscous or macaroni. Often I use pork/turkey/chicken mince so she's not having the same all the time. Vegetable and chickpea tagine cos it mashes down quite well, scrambled egg with grated veges and cheese, omlette with veges, pikelets with sultanas. Trying to think of the other stuff I offer her...whole pieces of tinned fruit like peach slices or pear quarters, rice cakes with peanut butter, toast cut with a biscuit cutter so that it's baby sized (like a heart/star/circle). No way does Darcy eat with a spoon. She prefers to hold the wrong end for starters....

    oh Elissa...

good on you for taking Archie to playcentre. He will love it. Shaun has 2 days care (5 hours each) and he loves going there. He's one of the little kids, so all of the slightly older kids give him loads of cuddles and attention. Shame about the ex-friend being there. I'm sure that you can get to know the other mums as well... and you hopefully pull away from the nasty girl.

See for us it comes down to the milk all the time and I am lacking the patience to make up food with his formula for him to not eat it AGAIN......

Oh and I forgot to say Elissa, you just stand proud honey you know you have done no wrong and you have a right to meet new people and lets face it if they turn there nose up at you for talking to her then they are not worth it! Gosh I am bitter aren't I hehe. Guess you just learn with years of experience lol.

I also forgot to say - yes Kim he is a trickster child, we had a good run a month or so ago now and I was trying to stay positive that it would continue and it sadly hasn't.

See I just had some bbq chippies and yep he gladly had them, see he is just a child who knows what he likes and doesn't like, unfortunately it is what he likes is more the minority.

Wow I missed heaps being at work all day! the yr 6s weren't too bad, much bribery interspersed with threats seemed to work LOL The naughtiest boy in the class actually told me I was the best teacher in the school!! (small thing but it made me happy)
Riley had his needles tonight (5.30) he screamed and screamed, I had a little cry afterwards. He has shocking nappy rash atm and his little bottom looks like one of those monkeys with the bright red butt! He is very windy down there too! I was glad to put him to bed tonight he was so unhappy. At least he had a good day, my dad had him and they walked down to the park and went on the swings which they both loved.
Sheree, all kids get fussy at times, Jess ate only chicken nuggets for months and months at about this age I remember how stressed I was. Touch wood Riley is a good eater, he eats everything, his FDC lady always laughs about it cause he eats his lunch then likes to share hers too.
Kim and Leanne are you guys interested in coming to Olympic park on 5th July (I know you are working Leanne but a sickie?) there's a BB meet up and I'd love to meet you IRL.
Jodie- you poor thing still being sick, I don't know how you have coped. Your injury made me cringe just reading about it OWWWW!
Elissa- that is so brave of you going to playgroup, I can remember leaving a preschool mum's function and running home crying when Jess was 3, cause I felt so scared and intimidated so I know how you feel (except you're braver!)
Thinking of food Riley eats ( and leaving out the junk!!!) he loves Tiny teddies, pureed fruits, porridge, toast, raisin toast, milk arrowroot biscuits, jelly, yoghurt, weetbix, pureed vegies with grated cheese in them, baby fruit bars, nuggets and his new fetish- cat food LOL (he will have no furball problems though!)
