Ash - just ignore what the insensitive tw@t said to you hun. Honestly, some people. :hugs: Izzy is just starting to understand no too- I just say her name and she looks at me and you can tell she knows shes in trouble but keeps going!! Pink tips sound HOT!

Danni - She was just 6 mths but there were babies there that were older and they were doing exactly the same thing, no-one was timing anything, and their philosophy and how it all works was explained during the group session time. Sounds like Tweddle is very different, I know the book is all about timed controlled crying/comforting. Not sure about O'Connell but if they call it Responsive Comforting\Settling then it sounds like its like QEC- they still cry but you don't stand at the door and listen, you go in and out as you feel you need to. I have to take a break every now and then, and also Izzy tends to get louder and more frustrated when I am there so I have to leave sometimes too. Check out the website- there are podcasts about settling techniques on there.

Lis - yay for Ellie! I would give anything for my 2 mth old who slept 12 hours a night to come back :P

Exhausted after work again today Im not sure how Im gonna do this, Ive only been back 2 days and its only the start of term. Ive done 2 hours of work at home today- so much for part time.
Now Im wishing I was just doing CRT and didnt have to worry about meetings, reports and correction. Arrrgghhhhh.
Enough said - might come back later if Im in a better mood! to you all!

ETA: Iz was up every 2 hours last night I think that's why I'm so tired. Have decided that we will not feed her between 7 and 5. If she wakes, we will rock, pat or listen to her grizzle but no more feeds. She doesnt actually feed anyway - last night she would take my nipple and hold it in her mouth and fall asleep - clearly Im just a dummy, and she knows how to self settle because we put her down at 7 and all her day sleeps wide awake and she drops off so it's clearly just a habit we need to get out of. I'm sending Al in too because if I go in and don't feed her she cracks it majorly so maybe she will start to associate waking in the night to getting dad, who can't feed her so will go back to sleep -ugh.

Lis-I did confront her on the forum but as far as it goes there isn't much that can be done. She's been banned from the site, but the damage has already been done really. I am going to cyber slap you miss, it''s totally unfair hehe nah I'm happy for you, lucky lucky mummies with good sleeping bubs.

Kass-Believe me I almost slapped the doc, he is an idiot and has no idea really. He hardly even looked at Blake even when I said I'm concerned about this this and this...he just went yeh that's fine whilst writing crap. Whatever! Glad to hear you've found some friends for you and the family at the gym, I need to do the same, I feel so isolated!

Tan-Hooray on going back to work. I can understand you being tired, Blake is up as often as Izzy but everynight so working after that would make me crazy. I hope she sleeps better for you tonight! I wish I could just stop the feeding- but I'm lucky I can just give him a bottle and he'll drink it and chuck it when he's done - there were many a night before that I had to sit at the cot feeding him (I never take him out of the cot anymore, one thing I've been tough with).

Well Blake went to bed at 8.20 and has already woken once, fun times eh.

Oh my gosh, I feel like I have been MIA for ages!!! Don't know where to start really!!

Ash - what a biatch, that is crazy!! Psycho woman, must be a bit scary too. And that Dr, obviously he has been around too long and needs to retire cause he has stopped caring. Can you see another Dr??? So Blakey is still a bad sleeper hey, I have no tips for you cause my naughty boy is just the same!!!

Tan - bugger work is being painful already. Are you job sharing a class with another teacher?? Hope they pull theri weight and you aren't doing all the work. How did Izzy go with her milk now??

Kass - Europe you lucky thing!!! I have never travelled, had great intentions which is actually why I did nursing so I could work and travel, but hey, i got preg instead!!! Great to hear you have found a way to meet mums and bubs!! Good luck, hope it is fun!!!

Sarah - good luck with your sleep school!!! Sounds like they are all the same though with theri methods. How's your business going?? Have you had heaps of work??

Dan - I don't know how you do so much work and study!!! I did 3 night shifts last week and was so buggered I could barely function!!!

Danni - bugger, have you looked at any other houses yet?? Good luck matey, we moved when I was preg with my 2nd and it was horrible!!! I was so sick I had boxes that were still laying around 12mths after we moved!!!

Lis - lucky you with such a good sleeping baby!! *envy envy*

Hello to evryone I have missed!!! I tried my hardest to remember what everyone has been up to!!!

Well, we have been extremely busy! I worked Sat last week, then Fri and Sun just gone. Was so bust at work, and I was so tired all weekend!!! Have spent the rest of this week trying to catch up on some sleep before I have to go again!!! Angus has been good, he understands no also, but thinks it is hilarious and laughs at us!! He is into everything, and loves his sisters dolls (much to dad's disgust!!) I am having problems with him bf though, he is starting to refuse a lot of the time. I think he is getting used to the bottles he has while I am at work. On Mon night he woke up and I gave him a bf, and he still screamed and screamed like he was hngry, and just kept pulling off the boob. I think he wanted a bottle. ANyway, I am not giving in cause I really want to keep bf.

Anyways, I betta go to bed soon. We have hectic mornings around here with school etc. Hopefully I will be in more reg to catch up!!!

    take care!

Kass, I would do the same!! I am just trying to win lotto to fund a holiday!!! My DH has a sudden burst to spend lots of money, suddenly it is him spending money not me! He is getting a boat, trying to convince me that it benefits the whole family, yeah right, he wants it to escape with his mates! I am not silly haha

Shell-You must be super woman, 3 kids (4 including DH lol) and working, I think you're great. I find it hard to struggle on with just the one, so kudos to you miss!

Kass-I would take up an offer like that too, how can you refuse?

Well Blake slept till 11 then 5:30 last night...better than frequent waking but 5:30? Come on child, just hold out till 6 and I'll be fine lol I sorta lose it before 6am, I tried to make him play in his cot which he has been happy to do for 30 mins in the past but he didn't have a bar of it - screamed and woke mum up baaah. He's back down now though, fingers crossed he lasts more than one sleep cycle!

Yikes I feel for all you lovelies not getting a good nights sleep, wish I could come over and help for a night.......don't you get sick of people saying 'don't worry, he/she will sleep through one day"? I used to want to punch my MIL lights out every time she said that to me!

Shell I agree with Ash, I don't know how you do it with 3 kids and working, think you are a super mummy lol! Was your DD looking forward to going back to school?

Kass yay for baby gym and meeting some new people, that is great! My mothers group doesn't meet as often now as most of us have returned to work and I miss it so much! I'm trying to organise it so that we meet at least every month but its so hard with everyone working different days. Oh well think we will be catching up next Friday so that will be great. I'm going to check out Bella's website now!

Ash pooey to that doc hun, you don't need that crap. Are you able to request not to see him?

Tan I know what you mean, my part time job is not so part time too and I've already been doing some work from home too Oh well they are paying me pretty well so I probably shouldn't complain too much at the moment, I will see how things go.

It's pouring with rain here today, was planning on walking up to the supermarket but doesn't look like its gonna happen. everyone else.

Oh, you girls, supermum, I am blushing!!! No, it is ok for me cause I can do night shifts and the kids don't really miss me!! It is the next day that is a killer, but Angus still goes dwon in the morning for 2-3 hours so I just nap with him!! I am only rostered to do 2 x 12hr shifts, but if we have big bills etc I just work extra!! Is the lucky thing about being a nurse, we are so short staffed I can basically work when I want. Even better to work on Sundays cause it is double time.

Anyway, we had to take DD 2 to get her 4yr old immunisations today!! I was so worried cause she knew what we were going for, and was upset etc. But, she was so brave!!! I made DH come with me cause I thought I would have to hold her down kicking and screaming, but no, she just sat on my lap and never even shed a tear!!! OMG!! She was amazing! They gave her 2 stickers, and she said ouch, and that was it! She has been complaining that they still hurt now, but she was fine! I also got Angus weighed and he is 8.2kg. I am a bit worried cause he has only put on 200grams in 2 mths. Cause he was almost 8kgs at 6mths. I know he is not having as much boob as he is meant to cause he is not as interested anymore. Should I give him formula??? I offer water so he doesn't get thirsty, but maybe I should be giving him milk in a cup instaed. What do you guys think??

Anyway, I best go, have a million loads of washing to do, and it is raining, so have to ry and hang it around the house!!!!

hey shell thats great that DD was ok with her needles, it's so hard and would b harder if they knew what was going on.
With formula i would say not yet, as Bella went off the boob and i was thinking the same thing but she was teething. Even b4 then she went off the boob and there were no teeth, they just have off days im sure even if he was on the bottle he would have off days on that also. Just c how he goes if it 4 longer give ur MCHN a call and c what she thinks.

Well I looked through my other kids books and they seemed to have slow weight gain around this time also. I charted on the graph and he is still going in a nice curve with his wt gain, so they must allow in it for highly active kids like mine!!! He never stops from when he is up till he goes to sleep!! Crawls all over the house, and into everything!! Anyway I have a killer headache so think i might nod off early. Throwing sleeping dust on all the naughty babies!!!!

    Hi everyone,

Sorry its been so long. Time feels like it is flying by. Julian is now crawling like crazy and I am struggling with this notion of him being so active. He is into everything already! I am amazed at how much he has grown but I am scared that it is going to get worse. Is anyone else in the same boat as me? Anything that looks remotely dangerous, Julian is there! I don't think he will be far off walking either, well lets hope not for awhile. He is eating bread, cheese, babana by himself now and eating much lumpier food. Except for meats and chicken, I still puree those. Two teeth at the bottom have popped out and he is a very difficult teether. The poor little thing looks like he is in excruciating pain.

I won't attempt personals just yet but I'll definitely read through this thread

Good evening mummies.I take my hat off to all u ladies returning to work,I am jsut not ready to do this as yet.Alot rests on the fact that Brody is a boobie boy and will not take a bottle at all.we have tried every avenue possible...DP just says he is a typical bloke lol.I come on this forum and by the time i have read through ur posts,i cant be bothered enterig my own.sad isnt it lol.
How many of u mummies are in VIC? I'm in werribee and would love to meet any of you who are up for play date and cuppa.
My how the time is flying with our babies, pretty soon we will all be planning 1st birthday parties!!! scary hey???????? Brody is now 9 mths old and only just cut his first tooth a week ago,but 3 others on there merry way!!!!the joy of teething. He is such a dare devil.Taking steps on his own now and walking the furniture to no end.Lucky my kitchen floor is tiles or else the fllor be marked hrribly with the way he pushes the chairs around lol....His nearly 4 year old sister was the same. She was walking properly at 9.5 mths..I dont want my baby boy to walk yet...i want him to stay little...like that will ever happen...
anyway,im yabbering on..i hope all u mummies out there have great nights with bubbas and may u all have good sleeps.

Lis-Yes I hate being told it will happen eventually. when he was a newborn it was "Wait till 3 months and he will settle". Then it was "All babies sleep through by 6 months"-WRONG! Now I'm getting 12 months is the magic age...yeh, we'll see.

Shell-I wouldn't stress about Angus's weigh gain...Blake had only put on about 300g in 2 months, and they say that's perfectly fine. I wouldn't give him formula yet if you're not ready too, but if he self weans I guess you can't do much except express so he is still getting booby juice?

Jan-I have the exact same apprehension - Blake touches everything that may cause his harm, and any speck of dirt or fluff goes straight into his mouth. I hate the idea of him walking as I don't think he is far off. He cruises around one handed on the furniture and can stand for a few seconds unassisted. I'm terrified, I can't keep up with him now! Blake is a horride teether too so I can sympathise there, I guess I'm just lucky he cuts them all close together, he has 8 chompers now.

Hubba bubba-Welcome to our little group, hope you can find the time to talk more about your little guy Brody

Well omg I nearly died last night. Blake went down at 8.10 and was awake at 10:10..I went in as I was adamant I was going to just pat him back to sleep. Oh my god, he absolteuly thrashed around the cot, was hitting his head on purpose, screaming, biting himself on the arm - I eventually gave in and gave him a bottle. What the fricken heck am I supposed to do, I'm trying this new tecnique so he can learn not to feed to sleep but he acts like that, I can't strap him down and I can't pat him when he is sitting or standing screaming in the cot. Any suggestions? He'd only had a bottle 2 hours before so I know he wasn't hungry

Oh no Ash have you tried reducing the amount of milk gradually? I don't know what else to suggest, does he eat a lot of food during the day? Does he take a dummy? These little ones are so tricky to figure out sometimes....:hugs:

Shell I wouldn't worry too much either about Angus weight gain, I think its pretty normal for them to slow down now especially seeing as they are so active.

Hello to everyone else, sorry no time to write much more, heading out soon to meet my sister. Question for you all quickly, how long do teeth take to cut through the gums? I can feel the jagged edge of a bottom tooth and Ellie has been a bit grumpy the last couple of nights. Just wondering how many more nights of grumpiness I can expect before it cuts through?

Ash i know exactly what ur going through, Bella just wont settle!!! She'll go down usually at 8:00pm but lately it's been latera nd sleeping till midnight then all hell breaks loose and during the day it's a struggle also! It's been like this during her teething and after im going 2 b bald soon!!!
    Hey there Jan and hubba_bubba07
Sangie i couldn't tell u, Bella was restless about 2 wks but it wasn't terrible the hole time just unsettled and unlike her. Then the teeth popped through and im having alot of trouble i think the lack of sleep from 2 wks of teething as chucked her routine out the window!

Sounds like a WW to me - anyone know if it is? I swear we had the worst night since she was born last night, she was up every 3-4 hours, and then decided to stay awake between 230-5. I fed her, she wouldnt sleep, Al walked with her and patted her and she would almost nod off but then cry herself awake again - so frustrating, and having my 3rd full day this week today didnt help either. Poor Al too, having to get up at 6.... I wonder if its because she misses me during the day so is trying to get the attention at night, because at one point she was happy just to have a cuddle... sweet but all I could think was that I had to get up at 7 and it was 430 and I was cross eyed with tiredness....eedless to say this whole working malarky is VERY interesting...
Waaaaay too tired to do personals right now but will have some time on the weekend hopefully.
Welcome hubbabubba - Im in VIc but not close to Werribee sorry.... maybe we can still organise a May mums meet up in the city!??? Sarah when are you back in town honey???
to you all and LOTS of sleep dust being scattered everyones way!

Gotta fly my girl has awakened!
