Babies born November 1st-15th 2010 #1

Girls.

Our beautiful baby was born at 11:47am this morning. Guess what... ITS A BOY!!! We had no names prepared so I'm on the hunt right now for a gorgeous name to suit our gorgeous boy.

I'll be back a little later to fill you all in on the details.

How silly am I, I only just noticed we have a babies born thread.

Kat, sounds like your little boy is a strong little guy even after srriving so early. Congratulations.

Danni. Amelia had silent reflux from the day she was born. She would vomit everyfeed but never cry in pain. It took 7weeks for her to get back to her birth weight. This continued until she was 8 months. Like Hubba said, the vomit gets very annoying but I got so us to it happening. We found Zantac worked the best for her. Also like hubba said, a raised matress was the best for her too.
If Damien has wind then the best thing I find is after bubs has been burped, lay him down and bend their legs up to their belly a few times. Then try burping them again. Macey seems to hold her burps in for ages and this has worked for me. Also I let her lay on her side alot, but only ever when I am with her. I will not leave her alone like that. I think been on their side helps them move the wind out. I also use Infants Friend, Amelia had it and Macey has had it a few times and it works great.

Heidi. Macey is a one or two poo a week baby which is completely normal. Some babies (like Amelia) will poo after every feed, some 1-2 times a day, 1 time a day or even once a week. Breastmilk is like a natural laxative and that is why their poos are so runny.

Eng, I hope peter settles at night for you soon. How have you been with you PND, have you been seeing your dr still? What about your hormones and nose bleeds. Have they cleared up?

Ella, Congrats again, I posted in the belly buddies thread before I realised this thread was here. Still can not believe 2 girls turned out to be boys in our group.

Hubba, 6 weeks already, time is flying but I am glad you want to stick with us.

AFM, things are going great. Macey is a little gem. She does not cry. She loves been were the noise is. If I put her down during the day in the bassinet she wakes up straight away. So she spends the day in the lounge room and nights in the bassinet. She does not like been wrapped tightly either, she likes to wriggly her arms out and kick her legs until the blanket is off them so I am glad the weather is warming up for her not to be wrapped. I am in absolute love with my girls. Amelia is so great with her, except for the occasional heavy handed touch. I sure am one lucky mummy.

Hey girls! Thought I'd pop in, ever-so-late, to say hi, but you're only up to page 2?! Having babes is a little more taxing than sitting about complaining about being preggo, isn't it?!

Spencer James was born on the 7th after an hour at the hospital - intense but FAST, & my last baby thank goodness!

Have to admit I am struggling to do anything right now except feed, hold & change Spence, the house & poor Punk are horribly neglected, but HE WILL NOT sleep alone, no way, no how, nor will he sleep in a sling or the infant insert in the ergo... Will nap in the baby bjorn but I don't really like it. *sigh*

Anybody else having sleep issues?!

Speaking of issues, he's whinging in my arms right now....

I know how u feel about the house and ur Miss Punk getting neglected I feel like I am doing the same to my house and to DD Bethany. I am hoping to get into a better home and hospital routine when I get my car back tomorrow afternoon as it will make things much easier for everyone.

Flynn is doing well, still about the same. Wont be moving to a hospital closer to home for at least a week as he has been having oxygen desaturations (not a good thing but not too bad) and the hospital they want to send him to wont take him with that issue so we have to stay put for now. I had words with Flynn and told him he needs to behave so he can move closer to home then home from there so I am hoping he was listening to me lol

Just wondering if anyone knows where to buy the thin cloth napies - like the ones you use in hospital. Ive got towling ones but i think they will be too bulky to use on him just yet.

Congrats on spencer queen - yes i agree i think we all had way more time to talk about being preggers than we do now

Tammara- do you mean modern cloth nappies or something different. The Mater uses disposables so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Morning ladies

I had my little girl, Alice, on friday 12/11/10 so she is two weeks old today she weighed 3580g, or 8pd and is doing great. I had her via c/s so i have been busy doing nothing except for feeding and resting but am feeling really well and much more mobile (luckily since dh is going back to work next week and i will have to start doing the school run)

Tammara - not sure about flat nappies, i am using disposables until she is a bit bigger then will get out my mcn stash, can't wait

Kat - hope flynn is getting better and can be moved soon, how far from home is the hospital he is in atm? Do you have to travel or are you staying with him?

QueenMab - sorry to hear about the sleep issues, hope you find a solution soon

Heidi - Alice had some really painful wind two nights in a row and I eliminated a few things from my diet and that seems to have solved the problem, she doesn't cry in pain anymore just happily burps hopefully Isabelle feels better too

Ella - what a lovely surprise congrats

Blessed - glad macey is such a dream baby, how old is Amelia? I find my other two are great with alice too but a bit heavy handed at times too

Eng - hope the sleep improves soon, there is nothing harder than juggling kids etc on no sleep....

AFM i have had a bout of mastitis which i didn't have with either of the other two, it sucks! I have been going to the hospital twice a day for iv antibiotics but can hopefully switch to oral antibiotics today. Otherwise Alice is so far a good baby, alhough i am a bit nervous about dh going back to work next week and me having to do it all on my own

I am pretty sure BigW have the ones ur after. If u cant find them on the shelves ask someone they should be able to help.

Kell I am not allowed to stay at the hospital with him as I dont live more than 150kms away but its a good 45 min drive each way and thats not in peak hour so its a pain in the bum but a necessity. Hoping he can move the the hospital closer to home soon. Hope ur mastitis clears up for u soon make sure u get some good rest

Well hoping this isn't speaking too soon but Flynn is doing well.
He's been really good today and not had a desaturation since 10pm yesterday so providing things keep going well he MIGHT be moved at some point next week when a bed opens up for him (fingers crossed tightly). I got to put him on the breast twice today and he didn't do much but it was good that I could do it. The lactation consultant at the hospital is great and she is encouraging me to do it and will talk to the doctors if they say no again as she is on the same page as me that its not wearing him out cos if he's too tired he just wont suck until with a bottle were he would have to drink it

Didn't get much sleep. Finally got Leo down at 4:30 then O woke at 5.

Leo has been feeding every 20mins all day, anyone else have this in the first week?

Well some progress and so no progress
I put him on yesterday and he was mucking around but when he fed he sucked well so I know he got a bit and he over flowed when they "topped him up".
I just spoke with someone this morning (I ring at night and most mornings) and he had a couple of desaturations over night so I am a bit worried again. I know he did well yesterday and I only fed him once off me as I wasn't there long enough to do 2 so they can say he was worn out. I hope he stops doing the desats as he cant move while he's having them. The doctors were happy with his progress.
Ah well fingers crossed and I am going in to him soon so I will be having words with my mr Flynn again and telling him to behave so he can come home

Ella-hope you had a better night last night. Alice was feeding about five times over three hour periods in the first week, then would sleep for an hour or so with naps on me in between feeds. Once my milk supply was established she really settled down, hope Leo settles soon for you. Lack of sleep with a toddler too is hard to deal with

I am coping but having good and bad moments of my depression but to the doctors this week and I will catch up with my social worker at the hospital tomorrow (I think I missed an appt with her today).
well Flynn's doing well so thats good. He was more awake today (he usually sleeps ALOT) so that was nice and good timing cos I brought a little toy frog pram hanging thingy to hang on the side of his cot for him to look at and he seemed to like it
I dont think he will be moved any time soon but I am ok with that I just want to get him feeding and home. 1 of the nurses today said he would have been at 34 weeks today if he was not born yet and I cracked it and said no thats not right he would be at 35 weeks and she tried to argue with me over it but I won the battle. I told her I had been tracking my pregnancy from the very beginning and I know were I would have been if I hadn't had him early and that shut her up.
I dont think he will be home before xmas like I was told but I can hope for the best I guess and if he's not home them we'll spend xmas in the hospital with him.

I keep going to write an update and my timing is always off and Isabelle wakes up and starts crying.

We had a two outings in the last few days - one on Friday and one on Sunday. It was very exhausting and took forever to get ready and actually leave the house LOL. This weekend we are going camping for one night so hopefully it will go OK. It is our 4wd club xmas party and my partner is Santa so we are just going to stay the Saturday night.

I have the community nurse coming on Thursday to check on Isabelle's attachment as I dont think she is doing it properly and seems to want the breast less and less and is sucking worse than before. The next few days I need to ramp up my expressing to try and build up more levels to make it easier for her as well.
