Welcome Smekko, I think I remember you from the TTC 1-6months thread. Congratulations on your little man. Sorry, I can't help with you boiled water question.

Blondie, I saw your thread about BF and I am happy to hear that you have found what works for you and bubs. I love the pictures you posted on FB. He has an adorable smile.

AFM, Everything still great. I am loving the big smiles i get when Macey has just woken up and I go to her. I have started organising a trip to Vegas in April 2012 and have realised I am a velcro mum. I am struggling with the thought of leaving my girls. I have never spent a night away from them, except half a night when I had Macey. I guess I will have time to get use to it and maybe early next year have a few practse nights.Gosh how clingy am I.

    Sorry I have been missing
I was wondering about the boiled water thing as well but Flynn seems pretty satisfied most of the time
I hope everyone else is doing ok.
I think I am a velcro mum too I left Flynn for the first time with my dad for about an hour and I was wanting to call the whole time I was gone!!! I am ok leaving Bethany cos she is nearly 6 and always been quiet independent but leaving Flynn is much much harder probably because I used to have to leave him all the time at the hospital and I dont want to do that anymore

    Anyway
Flynn is 9 weeks old today!!! time is flying!!!
We took him to the swimming pool for the first time today as its damn hot down here in Melb and he didn't like it to start with but after a while he was very happy and content until he got hungry.
He had a weigh in and check over on Wed and he's doing really well he's now 3.61kgs, so much bigger than his birth weight of 2.29kgs, and the MHN was very happy with him.
I need to get his immunisations done but atm I cant get into any doctors at all which is frustrating but I will get in soon I hope

    Hi Mummies.

Blessedmum, Lucky it was only for the first day of AF.. He has settled back to his normal self again.. yay! The 000 fit good its just they are getting too short, the one's are too short for his body and the t-****s look like crop tops. He looks like the 1980's and all that is missing is the beer bottle.. lol The trip sounds like fun, how long are you going for? I think its only natural to feel that way.. I felt the same too, but now DD has a sleep over every week at my parents and I get a little rest. Is DH staying behind to look after the kids?

Blondie, as long as it works for you and Aidan thats all that matters. I went back to full time work when DD was 6 months old. I have to tell you, you miss them like crazy! I took so many photos for my desk they were laughing at me. Can I ask.. How are you finding expressing? I find it takes me an hour every night and an hour in the morning to get one feed.. I want to give him one bottle a day. The nurse told me that would make it easier for when I wean him too.

welcome smekko, I give baby P some boiled water every now and then. But I was told that BF babies dont really need water. If your worried about dehidration, you can feel over their soft spot and if its really sunkin in then bub needs a drink of either BM or water..

yay Kat - Flynn is 9 weeks old!! Well done!!! He sounds like he is doing really well..

    feeding time.. He is awake...

    Ella where are you???

Take care... Have a great weekend...

ps guess who had a 7 hour sleep last night!!! Yay!!!

Hey Eng - Expressing takes a bit of getting used to and it can be really annoying at times. I must have heaps of milk because I put the electric pump on one breast and the hand pump on the other and I go for it! LOL In the mornings after leaving it all night I can get 180mils+ out of one breast and it takes about 20mins per breast. It gradually becomes less and less throughout the day but on average I can get around 100mils in 20mins and pump anywhere between 700 and 1000 mils per day. Aidan is not eating that much though. He eats around 600-800 mils per day. The trick is to get a decent pump (something I have to do!!) I am using a second hand AVENT which is OK but not fantastic.

P.S YAY on the 7 hours!! Aidan goes to bed at 5.30ish and usually wakes around 1am and then again at 4.17am but then will wake again at 6-7am.

Eng, I am unsure how long I will be going, Probably only 5-7days. The main reason I am going is to see an singer who had been retired for the last 10 years or so but has signed a 5 year contract with a casino to do a limited amount of shows a year. DH and I made a pact that if one big want (Eddie Murphy doing stand up comedy again) or mine ever happened that we would do everything possible to see it and mine happened. DH will most likely be in the US when I go as he goes in April and August/September every year. But if the concert dates don't match with him been there he will stay with the girls. Otherwise I will just go off who the girls feel the most comfortable with at the time to look after them.
Good job with 7 hours. It sure makes a difference when the have long sleeps. I am loving my 9+hours most nights.

Kat, 9 weeks, wow. Time is flying. After having to leave Flynn at the hospital for so long, you have every right to be a velcro mum now. I am taking the girls to the pools tomorrow, so Macey will get her first swim.

AFM, we spent the day in the city. I really don't like it there much, way to many people for my liking but we had a lovely day. I put one of those mirrors on the car seat so we can see Macey and she spent the whole car trip home looking at herself and making noises. It was super cute. She will be 8 weeks old in a few hours. Where has the time gone. Christmas is over, I would like things to slow down now please.

Just noticed my ticker is wrong in the days old, I went to check it and I have the right date. Would this be because it is not an Australian ticker company?

    Morning,

Blondie, I think I have to keep trying. I bought a Tommee electric pump, it works well but I think its not strong enough. I think it needs a big more ommfff. lol I will have to keep trying. Toys r us has some good sales every now and then on the breast pumps, has a good range of brands too.. I think I paid half price for mine. Aidan is sleeping really well too!! Thats great news too.

Blessed, 9 hours + sleep!!!!! Lucky Mummy!! 5 to 7 days isnt too bad but I can understand it would be hard especially cos you havent left them at all just about.. I bought one of those mirrors cos I couldnt see what Ireni was doing to Panayiotis. I love it! I think he can see me too.. Cos when I look at my mirro sometimes he smiles at me.. lol

smsed Ella yesterday, I was a little worried as she hasnt been on here for a month and havent seen her on fb. Her internet isnt working at the moment but should be fixed soon. She seems to be doing well.. Blonde I asked Ella for a catch up at GC and she is keen.. Just need to sms you so we can work out a day and time..

Ok im off.. I really want to hit harbour town at the coast today but looks like we might find an indoor shopping centre cos guess what... its RAINING AGAIN!!!!! It hasnt stopped raining since I went on mat leave in Sept and I am totally over it!!! Im over the spider webbs too.. Oh and we saw a tree snake the other day in the front tree.. Now Im scared to go in the garage in case its found my hot water system to relax under.. Yes I know they are harmless but Im scared s%^&less.

Ok dh is busting me for being on line and Im not ready yet.. have a great day..

    Morning,

Its been a little crazy here in Brisbane for the last few days.. We are ok but my in laws are in the heart of west end but it looks like they are ok.. Just worried about the aftermath and what is a head..

Panayiotis slept 8 hours last night, he hasnt had that much of a big sleep since his last 7 hour sleep.. Im a little worried about Panayiotis, he has these little mole things coming up all over his head.. Ireni has a bad cough so we all off to the doctors again.

Hope everyone else in Brisbane and all the flood affected areas are ok..

    Good morning all,

Eng, I am happy to hear your okay up there. It is a devestating time. I can't begin to imagine how people affected are feeling and that the clean up ahead is going to be so hard. Good luck at the Doctors, I hope the moles are nothing of concern and Ireni gets better soon.

MissK, I am not doing a mothers group, they are just something I have never been interested in. Fortunetely 2 of my close friends had babies a few months after I had Amelia so we had our own little mothers group I guess.

AFM, had an eventful wake up just before midnight last night. I had gone to bed with a shocking headache and DH was still up in the loungeroom. When all of a sudden there are 4 police men running up our driveway (we are a battle axe block) asking if a man in a belaclava just ran up here. DH had the blinds fully open and the front and back doors and he said he had not. The noise woke me up and I had no idea what was happening all I could here were mens voices. Apparently the man was looking in the windows at the lady in the house in front of us and it was just lucky that her next door neighbour happen to see him and he called the police. In our town the police station is unmaned after 9pm but lucky 2 cars were in the area and they arrived very quickly. The guy ran when he heard the sirens and ran up our driveway. They did not find him. We were told to lock all our doors and windows and keep an eye out as he may of been checking things out to come back another time and rob the house.
The poor lady at the front, she lives there with her 3 kids. At least she has her neighbours looking out for her.

Then, this morning I dropped a full vegemite jar on my big toe so I have a big cut swollen bruised big toe that is throbbing like buggery and is making it hard to walk. AND I have no panadol. Sorry Amelia, the rain has stopped but we wont be going to the park now.

On a better note. Macey had her 8 week check up and is going great. She is geeting a slight flat spot on the left side of her head from favouring that side when she sleeps so I need to make sure she stays more on her right side during the day which I had started doing when I first noticed it. The downfalls of her sleeping so long. She is now 5005kg and 58cm long and wonderful. I am having trouble catching a smile on camera though, She might be camera shy like me I think.

oh gezzz, that is just shocking!! I wouldnt have slept for the rest of the night.. Hope doesnt come back.. Ouchi!!! Vege Jar is really solid too.. Hope your feeling better tonight. Macey is doing really well, Panayiotis has the same flat spot too. It took me a couple of goes to get his photo too, now they just keep coming.. hehe

afm, well my brother has lost his business to the floods. Took 16 years to build, and hours for it to floated down the Brisbane River and out to the bay.. I feel really sorry for him and sort of helpless.. He was due to get married at the end of the month and she cancelled their wedding (run-a-way bride 3rd attempt at getting married) under 30 days and they have to pay the full amount of money regardless. So he just lost 20k on that and now has no business to pay off everything. Just heart breaking, he sounds so sad and down.. My dad (70 year old thinks he is 20!) wanted to go out to my brother's pallet yard and see whats left but I wouldnt let him go.. We shall see what tomorrow brings..

Took P to the doctors, he said not to worry but if he gets more than I will take him the see ped. Ok im off to bed, going to get up early and take all Ireni's old clothes down to donate to the flood victums..

    take care and stay safe..

Oh Eng that is really sad about your brother. I hope that things pick up for him soon and he finds love with someone who will not hurt him.

What a wonderful thing yu are doing with Ireni's clothes. I donated some money while doing my groceries, it really is unbelievable what has happened.

My little princess is 2 months old today, I am so happy but a tad sad that it is going so quickly. Now if I can just get this christening sorted.

    Hi Ladies

Hope everyone is OK with all the flooding!

We have just got back from 3 weeks away - we stayed in a friends house for one week then camped at three different locations over the other 2 weeks. We had such a great family holiday with the 3 of us. Except Isabelle got a grass tick on the her head and we could not get it out so had to drive over an hour and finally ended up at the ambulance station and they where able to get it out. She did not seem to suffer an ill effects from it which is good.

Isabelle needs to go and have her checkup and injections this week I think we might be a bit late with them she is nearly 9 weeks now.

    Hello Mummies!!!!

For some reason I wasn't getting any post updates... So I've missed out on HEAPS. Woops... better check here & there to make sure they're not just being missed.

It seems like I am definately a "velcro mum" lol I am so attached to my little one. I cant believe how strong my bond & love is for him. I couldn't imagine him ever sleeping outside my bedroom & I miss him after being away from him for an hour (the longest I have ever been away since the birth from him lol). So I have never expressed, & he's never had a bottle, only full time breastfed & it's going great. Sometimes he can get really fussy though & want to feed but pull off when I get the let down.. SO now I am definately intruiged about this whole boiled water thing... I may just give it a go!

With sleeping bub usually goes down at around 9ish, wakes up 4-6 hours later for a feed, then we leave him in our bed for the rest of the night (co-sleep - I love it) & he just wakes up every few hours for a quick breastfeed (sleepy feeds) & goes straight back to sleep & fully wakes up at about 8.30am. So my nights are absolutely fantastic Well, I am very happy the way it is!

Little Damian had his check-up at 9 weeks & he is almost 6kg... a very healthy boy! He was out of 0000 at around 5-6 weeks lol. His Christening went really well also.

Blessedmum- That's terrible re the break in! I hope you still feel safe, to me that's the most important thing. The thought of getting broken into scares the crap out of me!

And so sorry to hear about any of you or your families affected by the floods. It really sounds like a terrible disaster, I can only imagine

    Hi Ladies,

ENG - yes I am keen for a catch up. Its been bloody hectic in my house! We were the only ones of all our friends who had power so we had a house full of people for a few days. I am buggered.

How is everyone going? Was anyone effected by the floods?

I am OK. I have decided to start weaning Aidan...I have developed Mastitis and also a fungal infection in my nipples from them being cracked for so long. All together I was getting exhausted from finding the time to pump my milk, feed Aidan and cope with housework and general day to day activities. The way I see it, he is happy and healthy and I have given him a really good start but its time that I started to look after myself a bit better so I am making the switch. Is anyone else formula feeding?

I have also got some of my stitches that aren't entirely healing properly so I am on Antibiotics for that as well. Being a Mummy is hard but I love it!!!! My boy is so precious

I hope you are all going well!

    Good afternoon,

Danni, I don't get scared easily so I still feel safe. DH is the one who is more worried. Sounds like you have a nice little routine now. How did you go with his Vaccination, did you make up your mind on getting all of them?

Blondie, Ouch, sounds like you have made the right choice, your poor BB need a rest and you did a wonderful job getting this far. Your right, you do need to look after yourself in order to look after your family.

Kat, Macey had a clingy stage last week, she slept fine, but when she was awake she wanted to be held, it was only for a few days though.
Heidi, your trip sounds like it went well.

AFM, Got to love daycare. Amelia seems so happy to be back there, I get a wave as she runs off and sometimes she will blow me a kiss but that is it. It also gives me and Macey some quiet too. I have my girls figured out, Amelia is the do'er and Macey will be the watcher. Macey is a very serious baby, she has the biggest eyes and she just stares at everyone. She smiles for Amelia and myself but thats all. So I think she will be the one who just sits back and watches everything. It is so amazing how they have such different personalities. Amelia always had a smile on her face when she was Macey's age. I just love them to bits.
I am having Macey's baptism on the 13th of March. It has been a real hassle to get a place and date but finnaly it is sorted. Now to get organising.

Isabelle had her vaccinations today..just a few tears and seems to be happy enough now... she is now 61cm long, weighs 4.6kg and her head is 40cm at 9 weeks. She must have had a massive growth spurt as she has only put on like 100grms in 5 weeks. I will go to the chemist next Tuesday and get her weight checked again there with the same scales as last time.

Blondie we are using Nan HA as well, it seems to agree with her OK. This week we are using Nan Pro as that was all they had at Tea Gardens when I needed a tin whilst away. I think I prefer the HA version as she is a bit chucky with the pro and also has not done a poo since Sunday where as on the HA she does one at least every 2 days.

Thanks Blessed - yeah its time to start looking after me for a bit - as well as Aidan of course! I was happy I gave him at least 2 months of BM...and is a lovely healthy Boy so I know that switching to Formula will not hurt him.

    Heidi
Great news about the Vaccinations also babies have a growth spurt usually at 8 weeks and then again at 12 (but this is not set in stone) so maybe she had hers earlier?

    Kat & Heidi
I have heard Nan HA is good. I have got Aidan on Karicare Gold+. Aidan seems to be weaning to it OK. I have been mixing it 50/50 with Breast Milk to get him used to it.

    AFM...
Well tomorrow Aidan is getting Circumcised. I really hope that it doesn't pain him but apparently it is pain free as they use numbing cream don't cut like they used to. Still.....I am a bit worried for him - as most Mummies would be! I am only getting it done because his Daddy is done...and we wanted to avoid the "why does your doodle look different to mine Daddy? questions so that is our reasoning behind it. A lot of the Midwives seems to think of it as a "cosmetic" procedure?? WTF? I always thought that it was done from a cleanliness aspect....ie my friends Boy had to get done at 13 as he had a few issues

Hope you are all having a good week
