Mia has a bad nappy rash :( i dont know how... it just popped up all of a sudden. Shes also pooing alot.. like every nappy and she goes through 9-10 a day. Not sure if its teething. I feel so sorry for her, its so sore and she crys when i touch it or put cream on it. Im keeping it dry and using Bepanthan Anteseptic (sp) cream. Is there anything else i can do???? She has NEVER had a nappy rash before, so im abit lost.
Morning Everyone - B slept last night from 1945-0600 and played nice and quietly in her cot until 0630 - so she had an awesome night sleep - only wish i did - i went to bed at 2030, woke at 0100 and couldn't get back to sleep until 0400 - so im now tired as!!!! u know how long i have been waiting for B to sleep thru! hahahaha

Hollye - poor bubba Mia - hope her tooshie gets better soon! i like that sudocream for nappy rash's - B hasnt had one yet but it was fantastic in childcare and if u also rub it in to ur nails its get to strengthen them also! hehehe - also give Mia some nappy free time, make sure bot bot is dry after baths, and i think its corn flour that is good for nappy rash - or have u got any nappy rash powders? also after every poo, maybe use a washer or something with warm water to wipe her bottom instead of wipes cause sometimes they can irritate it more, exspecially the scented ones!
didi - i dont feel the duromine is doing much at the moment - but it might of been what kept me up last night! u are going to have such a great time shopping for urself - exspecially with that new fab body of urs after all ur weight loss - which u should put up before and after photos!!! hmmm
Anyways B and i are off to get her weighed etc today - should be interesting to see her stats from when she was born!

HJ - its a little better this morning. Yepi have nappy rash powder. I use the curash one coz peronally i think the johnsons is crap. Im using the unscented wipes but i notice they irritate her bum abit atm. So i think ill be using warm washers for a while.
She had a horrible sleep lastnight. Woke up 4 times. stupid bloody teeth!!!!!!
yeah i like the curash one also - heaps better! sounds like Mia is going thru a rough patch atm - sometimes i guess it is hard being a baby!!!
i know how good does that curash one smell! i reckon it smells like lollies, musticks to be perticular :)

sounds too me like its teething related, u havent changed anything in particular that she is eating that may be causing her to go to the toilet heaps?
B has started to go around 3 times a day also which is unusual for her - so maybe they bth are teething!

Just got home from taking Mia for her needles. She had them 17 mins ago and is sound asleep now. Oh man i hope she doesnt get a reaction like she did with the last ones. Atleast its done now.. yay! lol

Didi - Lucky you going to Canada in 9wks time. :dance: Enjoy all that shopping. I still cant believe time has gone so quick, it really doesnt feel that long ago since I first met DH. We have been together for 19yrs now. Maybe it is time to update. :) Thanks re V too. It sounds like you are doing really well with your weightloss, good on you hun. hugs
Hollye - Just checked out Mia's pics, how cute is she!!!!! What a clever little girl she is, theres no stopping her now that she has become mobile. hehehe. Congrats to your friend and her new arrival. When you see her little bub, V was abit smaller than that. hehehe. My oldest was just a bit bigger than that, by 200gm anyway. That will give you an idea on how small V was, yet she dropped down to 4pd 8o and didnt get back upto 5pd 4o until she hit 5wks 4days old. I still cant believe how little V is, yet I think she is just petite, meant to be little. She isnt a big eater, not overly fussed on eating solids, yet loves sucking the juice out of fruit such as plums and loves potatoes and pumkin, but even then doesnt eat much of it. With her formula only has around 130ml at a time and may squeeze in another 50ml one hour later if lucky. Yet lately has been lucky to have 50ml - 100ml at each feed. I think yesterday she was lucky to have 500ml for the whole day which includes her early morning feed at around 6am. Quite worrying, but I know she isnt feeling well, and along with teething too doesnt help matters. Sorry Mia has a sore bottom, V does too, her little behind is so sore, yet it is from trying to poop, even had to change her forumla to see if that helps. I just feel so sorry for her. Have you tried Paw Paw ointment, I have heard a few good comments about it especially for eczema, so I have bought some to see if it helps with her sore bottom and in a way was hoping it would help with sliding the poop out.
Amanda - Woohoo on trying the cloth nappies, I dont think I have the patience cleaning poop out of them, so have stayed with the disposables. Slack I know. Isnt Julian clever too, V just rolls around not interested in getting on her knees tho, or even sitting. She sits in her bumbo and is still so tiny in it. Is roughly the size of a 3mth old. I put her in the bumbo when she was around 4mths but was just too tiny for it then. She likes sitting in it, but not for long. hehehe. I think having eveybody come along picking her up and cuddling her is more intriguing to her atm. I am glad everything is going well with Julian and his pyhsio, thats excellant that after his next visit he could be discharged. hugs
Star- Sorry to hear about your hair falling out, my BF has been telling me the same thing about her hair since having her little bub. I hope the nappies help. Its nice to know there is some big feet on our little bubs, V still has such tiny feet I still cant put shoes on her yet that just fall off they are that big. So for now just plain old socks are all that fit. Cant wait for the shoes to start fitting. Then again all of my kids had small feet when babies even when walking they were unable to wear the baby walking shoes.
HJ - Hi hun, how was your movie watching yesterday? Sudocream I use all the time and then curash powder on top of that, works really well, and have done so for all my girls. I have been really worried about V, she seems to be getting better tho, the coughing is just terrible. How is little B going? Isnt B a good little bubba girl sleeping right thru for mummy. Hugs
Well, V seems to be getting better, coughing still sounds horrible, but the Dr assures me that her lungs have cleared, which is excellant. She is still straining trying to poop, so now have something different from coloxyl to help her, and hoping once the new formula kicks in that she will find it easier. hugs
csab - i know, i spend all day chasing her and saying "no Mia dont touch" lol. its mad. Yep i went and seen bub in hospital. She was tiny. Shes in the humidicrib atm coz she cant keep her milk down as her tummy isnt very well developed. Apart from that, she looks great. Shes just little. Not sure how long she will be in hospy for, being 5 weeks early. Yeh V is just going to be one of these little girls i think. Prob small throughout her whole life. Lucky her! i wish i was. 5ft 11 and overweight isnt much fun. Mia has never been a big eater. Shes half the size of her cousin and hes only 5 weeks older. This morning at 7:30am she had about 80 mls and hasnt had anything since. Once she wakes up she will have her yogurt and a bottle about 12 ish. But shes still asleep atm.
Hollye try laying her on a towel on the floor with nothing on her bottom for an hour a day or so... so it can dry out.

I have definitely decided to stop BFing. Meara is just biting too hard and bb's are so sore. I'm really finding it hard to even stick it in her mouth. Oh well 6 months is better than nothing I guess.
Hollye - my eldest DD used to get really severe nappy rash and she was wearing cloth nappies. I used bepathen and changed to disposables and it cleared up within the week. Hers was so bad it looked like she had been burnt and that was from 1 wee. I found the cloth keeps the wetness on their skin all the time, no matter how often I changed her, so when i used the disposables it went away.
csab - I so hope V gets better soon. It is no fun listening to them cough and knowing you can't do anything to help. Glad her chest is clear though.

just thought i would pop in here for a sqizz...and say hi...been ages since i have been in this thread.
Jack is crawling like a demon....sitting...no teeth no talking...eating me out of house & home already!!!!! eats 3 times a day..4 bottles a day...
i am back at work 4 days a week (5hrs a day)
he is sleeping well, can't complain..he really is a good baby :)
nappy rash....just been through a bad trot of this...
powders are not good for bubs bottoms...powder actually clogs the pores in their skin on their bott :( we use moo goo cream... and if really bad....hydrazole.
As for cloth nappies causing NR.....hmmmmm i must bite my tongue on that.....it simply is a load of hogwash...babies will get NR either in sposies or cloth...if they are going to get it they are going to get it.
We are plannning to start out next lot of IVF in December...can't wait!!!! another bubba hopefully...fingers crossed
i agree Kathryne. Mia is in sposies fulltime and she has a nappy rash. woohooo another bubba! im getting quite excited about the thought of having another but we arnt trying yet. Yay for Jack getting up and about. They start to become so quick too dont they! Its mad! Mia is on 2 solid meals and 4 bottles a day. I cant seem to get her to eat breaky! hrmmm

hydrazole is great stuff, dont know why i didnt think of that, i havent tried it on jbaby, but my jman uses it occasionally (tmi? jockitch!!)

:lol: i gave jbaby his bath today, flipped him over onto his belly, he LOVED it! worked out that he can paddle himself down to the end of the bath and back again, was laughing delightedly with himself...sooooo cute.
oh and the other night he sussed out how zippers work, took him about 3 mins of intense concentration then all of a sudden he just "got it" the look on his face was priceless, i love these mummy moments!
Kim well done BFing for 6 months.. be proud of you!! That is excellent i so wish i could have feed J for longer.. PREMIE babies my gosh!!!

didi - her bum is a little better. I found keeping it dry and airing it out and lotsa powder has helped. If i put cream on it, she gets upset, so mayb it stings? So trying to dodge creams till she goes to bed. But its not as red as it was. Thanks for checking up on us :)
well looks like i spoke too soon!!!! we have our first tooth!!!!! FINALLY.... it has cut through fully...but it is a fight to see it...as he doesn't want any fingers in his mouth...and he puts his tongue over his bottom gum..all the while screaming....

I find sudo great.. I cake it on the bum big time.. As when they pee it stings the bum.. So if during the day you can air it out and then maybe cake it on at night so she is not in pain..

Hollye - B is on 2 meals a day also - Breaky and Dinner - however she has gone off her breaky so now im changing it to lunch and dinner - she had her first vegimite sandwhich yesterday and loved it, it was sooo cute! i prefer promite tho! hehehe but we were at nanny's and nanny likes her vegimite

Jack has figured out his aplix/velcro closing nappies!!!!! he creeps his hand down whilst looking at me....then undoes abit...just for the noise....i say "no Jack!!" and he laughes/smiles and does it again...all the way this time...
Sudocream seems to be doing the trick. I caked it on lastnight and it looks better this morning! Phew! Lots of nappy free time today me thinks.
She got a pretty bad temp from the needles again so keeping up on the nurofen. SHes still not a happy little chappy but we will get there. Lots of mummy cuddles seem to be helping.
Nurofen is our friend here to Hollye!!!! Jack has a cold and is on prescription drops from Dr..and having Nurofen...:( poor lil man...(doesn't help that this house is freezing cold!!!)

Fluff-a-holic I wasn't saying cloth nappies give all babies nappy rash just that it did for my eldest DD. Even after 1 wee (cause I was constantly checking her). The doctor said her urine was very strong and was causing the burning (she had very sensitive skin) but being in the cloth nappies made it sit on her skin so changing her to disposables was the way to go. Also yay for Jack getting his first tooth.
I wish there was going to be a meet up here in NSW. I might be able to get to that one. But taking 5 kids and DF and me on a plane is just too much. Enjoy yourselves though.
KimB...did you use terry flats?? MCN's now....draw moisture/wee away just like sposies...IMO they actually keep bubs bum drier than sposies...BUT that is MY opinion...because of the bamboo/hemp used in MCN's. Jack has VERY sensitive skin (being soo fair does not help!!) and the only times he has had bad NR is just a week ago...(teething for ages..) and when he came home from hospital (in sposies) and he has been in cloth since about 1 week old....since then has never had a sposie on his little bum.

Got to do some wedding dress shopping with my sister yesterday, which was fun. hoping to squeeze in one more shop today. Saw all these GORGEOUS little boy suits. Can't wait!! Liam and his new cousin will probably be matching I think - so cute!!
Did I tell you Liam's crawling? He's a busy little boy. Been at it about a week now and is already looking for ways to pull himself up to standing. There's not a lot he's found he can use yet - thank goodness!!!
Took him to the dr today. He has a fungal infection on his penis. I suspect that has a lot to do with his night wakings, though I hope he hasn't had it that long....! (been waking for at least 6 weeks). It's been much worse lately. Last night he might have slept for 1 1/2 hour stints at the most. Have to put antifungal cream on it at every nappy change and let it air out for 15 mins - interesting with a crawling boy! Really hope it clears up for the poor kid really quickly.
On the cloth nappy/nr debate - of course I use cloth nappies too (being the newest consultant for Baby Beehinds! :) ), and apart from just recently, have had no issues with nappy rash while he's been in them. He did have a little while in sposies in the 1st few weeks. We use the bamboo fitteds and they do do a great job in absorbing the moisture. I've heard teething somehow causes their urine to have more amonia which often causes nappy rash around this age.

When eldest DD was born (14 years ago) there was only terry cloth nappies as far as I know. After all these babies I have just stuck to the sposies. My other kids never had a problem with nappy rash. I also couldn't use anything with zinc in it as it made the nappy rash worse so bepanthen was the only cream I could use. I love that stuff, it's wonderful lol.
ahhhhh good 'ol bepanthen!!!....we don't use it here anymore as i said...we use Moo goo...best thing since sliced bread!!!!
Jack just gobbled a 1/4 sandwich (vegimite) and a petit miam yoghurt for lunch..... absolutly loved the yoghurt!!!!!
Kat - i can only get Mia to eat the Baby Yoplait Yogurts. N it has to be room temp, she wont touch it cold! lol
Jack ate it out of the fridge...it was obviously cold....i thought about it later...thinking being that cold it might give him a sore belly??? he is happily playing on the floor now...he has been for about an hour....nearly time for a sleep me thinks :)
prob loved the coldness on his toothies tho! yeh Mia's asleep... for now... NO sudden movements..

Wow so much has been happening! Work is full on, thank god for the weekend, woohoo!
Olive is going really well, she is settling into care and is sitting so well now. She moves all around the house but is still only comando crawling. She is still waking heaps through the night though which is taking it's toll with work and everything and has been basically in our bed. I think i'll have a party when these top teeth finally come through. Olive says "mum mum" and "bub bub" so clearly now which is really cute and she loves to sing.
ATM she is having breakfast and dinner. The past 2 mornings she has had figs and porridge. I scoop the middle out of dried organic figs and mix it with her porridge and she loves it. I tried Olive on natural yogurt but she wasn't inpressed.
I'm doing well and my milk is finally starting to settle down after a month, thank goodness.
Hollye - when Olive had salmonella poisoning she had really bad nappy rash. I tried pawpaw and Weleda nappy rash cream as I prefer natural products but neither worked. Someone had given me a sample of Sudocream and I used it and found that it was sooo good, NR cleared up almost instantly.
Not sure about the nappy debate. I originally had MCN's (bummis) but found they gave Olive NR so switched to flats which were fine. Now I am back at work I use enviro nappies which are expensive but I feel better about using them.

im feeling sooooo good and invigorated right now - just went for a loooong walk and a swim!! and i feel good - had a bad experience yesterday with the tablets i have been on - so im not taking them anymore - was pretty scary and didnt help being alone with a bub - was more worried about Bianca than myself!
DH wanted Pizza last night for dinner - and i was good and said no - i made my self a sandwhich instead, and DH's Sister is on her way over and rung too see if we wanted her to pick up some take away for lunch and once again i said i dont want anything, im going to have some grapes and pineapple - so im VERY pleased with myself!
