Dont feel bad about the bottle thing.
Seriously ashley was 7 months before she would take the cup and nothing before hand andwe tried everything.
Ethan wont take the bottle either. I will try a cup closer to 6 months.
Some babies just dont like the bottle and that is normal
As for the self settle. It can be hard work. I remember ashley took about 3 weeks of hard self settling and controlled crying to get her to sleep through. She was 4 months old at the time. before that we was waking every 2-3 hrs overnight to feed. Then i decided i cant keep doing this, It was exhausting to spend 1/2 hr to get her to sleep without a feed and teaching her to settle in the cot in the middle of the night but i am glad i didnt cave into the emotion and stuck it out. As she has self settled ever since and it is bliss!
Ethan will only settle at night in his cot. Throughout the day he wont sleep in his cot and needs to be in a vibrating chair or the cradle swing.
I think his night time routine we started early. really helps.
He has a feed about 6pm, then bath, then massage then we lay on my bed and have a feed, burp and then down in his cot with the night light on and walk out.
It took a week or 2 of him crying or not wanting to sleep and i would have to walk it and either pat his bottom (he sleeps on his tummy), or pick him up tell him it is ok until he stops crying then put him nback down.
Do you have a night time routine so bub knows it is time to sleep at night? t is never too early to start- even if it is reading a book. doesnt mattter what it is - even if it seems silly to such a young bub.. it is about the routine and consistency so bub knows what comes next. and give it a few weeks before you give up on it.
I hope this helps and you are doing a great job. E still wakes every now and then in the middle of thenight and sleep routines will change as rolling, crawling, teething etc all come along.. so when you think everything is perfect and bub has finally gotten it!! it can all change in the blink of an eye so dont get too discouraged .
just a quick one.
thanks for all the hugs, they come in handy
went to the movies with dragon tonight n he slept all the way thru! had to feed him in the sling just before the lights started to dim so theres my 1st offical public feedin LOL
Teru hugs hun...it must be hard for you with your DH being like he is....I know before i met my hubby he drank alot..(complicated life with his ex) and since Jack has been born he has been drinking quite abit and i have had enough...i think next time if he gets blotto I am going out...i will leave him here to his own devices...i don't care for it one bit.
To everyone else...have a safe night tonight and a happy new year
We are doing NOTHING tonight AGAIN...BUT i probably wouldn't have the energy to do anything anyways.....
hrmmmm i wonder if i will still be awake at midnight...
Matt wanted to go out to his parents for new years and i said im not going n im not taking Mia. New years.. sleeping on a floor.. mozzies.. flies.. sweat... no thanks! so we are both staying home and visiting them on sat for the day.
DH and I had a BBQ outside and took Maya outside with us. She happily sat in her rocker looking at the sky, while we ate dinner. It was very nice. Then I made it to 11.30pm and I was soooooooooooo exhausted I decided to just go to bed! I did hear fireworks going off at midnight though.
HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone. I had no chance staying awake till midnight. I did wake up though,it was so noisy when it hit midnight, all the fireworks, people yelling & tooting their car horns. I went straight back to sleep but.
My mastitis is healing up now. I feel much better. Still have to take panadol & the antibiotics. I also had good news back from pathology.... The melanoma had not grown through the skin so it looks like we got it just in time. I still need to get the rest cut out but at least it's good news.
TANYA The first words I'm teching Byron is Mumy & Daddy, then milk & more are the others that I teach too, just not as often as Mummy & Daddy. I also sign twinkle twinkle little star as I sing that to him. I do that a few times a day.
