oh Katones u are a pure LEGEND!!!! Orgainised Mia's cot today.. took a side off and put it next to our bed and she asleep in it right now!! only took 30 mins to get her to sleep!!!! OMG!! thankyou so much!!! The only thing i have to do now is lower it (its still on the high setting) to the bottom base and all is good!! yay!
AWWW Hollye i am sooo happy for you!!!!! Jack is asleep in his bed now too!!! I have just spent the last 45mins putting him to sleep as we were out earlier... he is down now..soo we shall see how long this cat nap lasts!!!
Thanks PinkPalace. I think what I'm struggling with most at the moment is how I thought it'd be versus how it really is. Like I just assumed every baby would take a dummy and drink from a bottle but Maya doesn't. At least if I have a second child I'll know not to expect anything!
Well after saying all I said last night.. this morning after Maya had finished her feed at 6am, I put her down in her bassinet while she was awake. I heard her 'talk' for a bit, then get the hiccups, then everything went quiet and I looked over and she was asleep!!!!!!! So I guess that means she CAN get herself off to sleep?! It hasn't worked during the day though. I've had to rock her to sleep. But I think I've now worked out that she was actually tired this morning and wanted to go to sleep whereas during the day she wants to stay up so I have to force her to go to sleep. I'm not sure what the answer is - to forcing a baby who wants to be awake but is over tired to go to sleep?!
Our night routine is to feed in the dark and wrap her up and we give her a bath every second day (cos she hates the bath still!). On bath days she does go to sleep so much easier and quicker - but I think that's exhaustion from all the crying she does not from the bath.
Anyway, I am feeling better today. I think just having her go to sleep on her own this morning has given me hope again!!
Happy New Year girls!! Is anyone staying up tonight? I am normally up till 11 or midnight anyway cos I can't get Maya into bed before then, so I guess I'll be up! And I suggested to DH that we do a BBQ tonight and have a couple of glasses of wine. I just wish the weather was nicer.
