Whoops, yep Kellie! Baby brain strikes again!

ETA - Mo, that time sounds good and I think we did agree on the botanic gardens. Should we meet at the cafe in middle next to the lake? The food there is really nice and quite reasonably priced.

    Hi All,

Amara is having agreat sleep, went down at 10am and is still asleep 1pm!!!

I wrap Amara, she also likes to sleep with hands next to head but our MCHN showed us a wrap so she can still do that. I f I don't wrap her she wakes herself up with the startle reflex thing.

DH work Xmas party tonight YUK!! didn't want to go but he really thought we should - carp! A group of teachers hanging out is NOT fun (no offence intended to any teachers out there) its just all they do is talk about school.

Have not really played much music to Amara yet, she has to suffer Eliza's kids songs whenever we are in the car though LOL!

She has also figured out how to kick her Pooh gym toy thing and make it play music and light up - pretty clever, she smiles and laughs at it, too cute. Have bought her a playgym thing to lie under for Xmas.

All seems better after needles though yesterday still festy. I also spoke to Doc about not having my Posrtnatal check and he wsn't fussed he said come some time in January so I don't feel guilty anymore.

    Better run for now,

Kellie - I'm not sure what it's called, but I'm pretty sure it is the only cafe there. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone! There are signs everywhere pointing to where it is, but it is right next to the lake if that helps. Maybe we should all swap mobile phone numbers in case anyone gets lost?

Thanks rebecca i just ordered one! did express post and hope it gets here before xmas and i will wrap it to dh from Tyron lol! so its ok even in the hot weather i assume cause its hot where u are right?
Leah tht is very clever of Amara to kick the toy thing!

How hard do you guys find it NOT to smile back at your baby in the middle of the night?!
after Tyron's feed which could be anytime between 2-5am and i change his nappy, rewrap he lays there and smiles at me and takes all my might to not goo and gah back at him cause i want him to know its still bedtime!

Nic - Yeah we use it all the time but our whole place has the air con running all the time cause it is so hot. They are fairly liht weight tho - not as light weight as the muslin wraps of course but she seems to sleep for longer with it than the muslin. I hope it helps your DH with his wrapping!
Gosh - if only Caitlyn would just lie there while I changer her bum and re-wrap her in the middle of the night! She cries! I just dont have a very happy baby I think! She will smile at me if I get to her before her crying gets serious but most of the time I dont hear her in time at night before she is really crying. However, this co-sleepin thing seems to work ok. Had her down in her cot this morning and she was only there for half an hour. She stirred so I took her to bed with me and we both slept (thank god - i needed it!) for close to 3 hours! Woohoo. DH can sleep on the couch from now on me thinks!

    Hi girls,
Sorry all I seem to do it whinge on this forum. Having a really bad couple of days. Ethan seems to have a lot of wind and is screaming a lot. We are using infacol which seems to help him burp but he is still screaming. He will only sleep for about 40 min and then wakes up crying and takes a long time to settle. I am finding it really difficult being a Mum at the moment. Hubby has just moved the location of where he works and takes our one and only car to work so I am stranded. Any ideas on how to help Ethan? Things were going so well as he had just stopped his middle of the night feed and only woke up once for the dummy but now is awake a lot. Having such a bad day. Help!!!!!

Ursula - What about the 7th Jan being the first meet-up in the new year? I will keep going over Christmas as Emily likes to go and I'm all for routine. Heather is coming on Christmas Eve. You're more than welcome otherwise let's say the 7th.

Nic - From memory it takes 3 days for antibiotics to reach the level needed to actually start doing anything. After that though Emily quickly recovered - let's hope Nixon does the same. Middle of the night changing: Harry stopped pooing overnight a few weeks ago so I've stopped changing him (Emily didn't do it tillshe was 5 months old) I use a baby beehinds bamboo and it really is the best night nappy ever. I just pop him on the boob and he goes back to sleep.

Alz - I'm not sure what to suggest - Is he bottle fed? Maybe he's intolerant to the milk.

Sorry alz, I really dont have many suggestions to help. My kids have never really had wind problems. I really hope it gets better for you soon though. A crying baby can be so stressful....

Rebecca - Can you Pm me that site to about the wraps? I dont know if I really need one, if Chels is in a really deep sleep and kicks herself out, she can usually stay asleep too, but just thought I might have a look? Ta

Im finished my Chrisy shopping too!!!! YAY!! And I seriously dont plan on going to the shops at all until after XMas now! Its just too busy, and too exhausting dragging 2 kids around! LOL

Alz- I know how you feel. I have the same prob with Caitlyn and with DH taking the car although where I live there are not many places to go anyway - but having the opportunity to go somewhere would be nice sometimes.
If you have been using INfacol for a while it may now not be as helpful for him as it was. Maybe try something else - marina's infant mixture, infants friend, braurs colic relief or stomach calm? Caitlyn can take up to 2 hours to settle after a feed sometimes. But other times she is a pleasure and calms down within an hour.
I too have some bad days where i really dont enjoy being a mum. I think it is just trial and error. Are you sure its wind? Caitlyn's poo goes a really different khaki colour when its wind other than that she is just a grumpy baby and I have to wrap her nice and snug and cuddle her for a while in a nice quiet room. Having too much stimulation can set her off.
I think you just have to keep trying until you find what works for Ethan.

Amber- if Myles is comfy i'd just keep using it! do his legs hang out the sides? I'm sure it is fine, he'd squeal if he wasn't comfy right? Lu's legs don't go wide enough.

Sorry- Guilty of post skimming........... it's a busy time of year! sorry will go back and have a read later on.....

Melb meetup- will try and get there on the 5th. Fly back from King Island on the 3rd, so will see how i'm travelling!

Caught the train into melb today, it's an hour trip. Why does my baby who rarely cries decide to scream at the top of her lungs on the train????? I'm sure they are wiser than i give them credit for.....got a few dirty looks........i just smiled...... but it was nothing a bit 'o' boob couldn't fix.

ETA- i just put in a request to change my user name...........

    Morning all....

Max changed his routine yesterday.....now I don't know what I am doing. He followed a pretty sturdy one....feeding at 7, 10, 1, 4, 7, 10....but last night, after his 7pm feed he stayed asleep and skipped the 10pm.

He woke at 5:30 for a feed (a really good one too....a bit too much for him too I think as he spewed up some all over himself!!), now he's back asleep again. I'm not sure whether I should try and put him back onto the same routine or just see how the day goes. It makes life so much easier when he is following the times. I can tell people when they can come over etc. and also know when I can go out. hmmmmm...

Might see if I can stretch his next feed to 10am. Might also just eat some toast and go back to bed myself.

I feel for the girls out there that are left stranded in the house with no car. I have had to do that a few days and it is awful. Makes you feel so ALONE! Like you are stuck on a desert Island!

I walked to the shops yesterday thinking that it was going to be too busy to get a parking spot, but when I got there, there were parking spots everywhere! Oh well, had a nice walk!!

Hope everyone has a good day, I'll check in later

    Morning all!

Had a fairly good night, Kieran had his last feed at 9:30pm, woke at 1:30am and I re-wrapped him and gave him a dummy and he slept 'til 5am, then I woke him at 7am to start our day. Not too bad! His face rash has cleared up, but he now has really dry skin on his face from it. Does anyone know what is safe to put on a bub's face? I'm a bit apprehensive to put anything on it because he seems to have such sensitive skin.

I got another muslin wrap in the mail yesterday (eBay is so handy when it's hard to leave the house!) which is nice and long so I reckon we'll be able to use it for quite a few months. His current muslin one is nice and long for wrapping across, but his feet are starting to stick out of the bottom, the new one is longer both ways. I like the idea of those wraps with velcro!

MiniMax - It's frustrating when they get out of routine for the day! IKWYM. Hopefully you can get him back into the swing of it today. BTW, we follow the same routine times!

Ange - Hope you can make the meet up! King Island sounds great, I've never been to Tassie. Gee you get around!! What are you changing your username to?

alz - I hope your little man is feeling better today. It is so hard on you when they cry all the time . I suppose if he keeps it up it may be worth getting him checked over by a Dr?

Trish - swapping mobile numbers is a good idea

rebecca or nickers - could you please pm me the site with the velcro wraps?

Vivienne - that is a gorgeous Christmas card - thanks!

I think I need to start enforcing more of a routine for Tahlia, from about 6.30 till 10.30 - 11, she is so unsettled, I think its from being overtired, so I need to force some more day time sleeps I think, however she doesn't seem to like that idea! She has just gone down now, so fingers crossed she stays asleep for a little while. Thankfully once she does settle around that time she stays asleep until about 6ish.

I was in the parents room at the local shopping centre yesterday, and there was a mum in there with 5week old twins and a 16 month old bub - how crazy would that be? We told her that she deserved a medal!

I can't believe its only 5 days till Chrissy - our bubbas first one! Is everyone all prepared? who is having lunch at their own place? Thankfully my mum is doing it this year, I have no idea how I would get all the preparation done while looking after Tahlia!

Wow the wraps are quite popular! All those that asked for a pm - have done (I think!?) Enjoy
Caitlyn and I had another carppy night last night! She slept in her swing from 7 til about 8 when I put her in her cot. She slept there till 10 which was good but when she woke up for a feed I couldnt get her to go back to sleep until 1220! And then she was awake an hour later for a feed! Then it only took 15 mins to get her back to sleep cause she was in our bed by that stage. Awake again at 430 for a feed and then awake at 530 and wouldnt go back to sleep! I think it might be because she only takes about 60 ml before she pushes away at the bottle. Everyone keeps telling me to wake her and make her drink more but how on earth do you make a baby drink more?!
She went for a nap at 830 in bed with me and woke again at 1030 so at least I caught another 2 hours - have heaps to do today! gotta drop the paperwork into the child care centre and do the groceries - which I am dreading! Think I might leave those until DH comes home so I can get some baby free time and regain some semblance of sanity!
