kim - this may sound dumb, but what are you bathing jas in?

even the extra-sensitive carp bath stuff gave james spots. we have bathed (or rather showered him) with just water ever since he reacted and his skin is beautiful now. she may just be a princess and the pea like him.

are you just doing plain water?

We were doing plain water and it was getting worse!

So i asked my CHN nurse and she said try QV wash, went to chemist and they said try Dermveen or Dermaid that they use in the childrens hospitals down here. So got that... has dont nothing....just gotten worse even again.

I also use Dermveen cream, again hospital uses it..but has dont nothing

If water makes it worse..wats left to use!! Hopefully the dr can help.

Awww Kim thats no good. I guess I have been lucky with Caitlyn. I didnt know how things would go with the water out here. We had 25 mm of rain in 8 hours the other day and the water is STILL dirty in our lines. I did a load of washing today and the water stained some of Caitlyn's clothes! Gee I love living here.
Well Caitlyn's poo is still the green colour but its not frothy or anything like that. its a normal consistency and am formula feeding so my diet wont contribute to it. She seems happy though so I am not concerned and the ladies at day care seem to think that I need to give it a bit more time to see if it goes a more "normal" colour.
Am going to go in and see the health clinic tomorrow. Am tired of leaving messages for the MCHN to call me to make an appointment. I need my baby weighed!! I found out today that they come down every two weeks from mt isa. So hopefully tomorrow will be their visit day and I can get her weighed. Did I mention that I can't stand living here???
Anyway - Routine seems to be wokring for Caitlyn. She slept from 630 unti 230 last night and went down at 630 again tonight - will see how she goes!!
Am off to spend some time with DH. MWAH

    Hi everyone,
I haven't logged on for a while. Sorry. Been really busy trying to get Ethan into a routine. It seems to be helping him. He seems more settled.
Rebecca - it sounds like you have had enough living where you are. I really feel for you. I live in the suburbs and life is hectic. I can't imagine what it must be like feeling so isolated from life. It's bad enough when you don't have a car and are stuck at home but I still feel like there is help everywhere.

Went to tresillian last week about Ethan's day sleeping patterns (that is he doesn't sleep much- only catnaps) and basically I am doing everything that I can and that is just what some babies are like. Grrrrr!!!!! I am feeling more relaxed about it now. I am just coming to terms with the fact that he doesn't sleep much but at least at night he sleeps well. We have had 2 nights in the past week when he has slept from the late feed till morning. Yey!!!!

Hope you are all enjoying motherhood! Have a great night.

Kim - Awww that sux. I hope you can get some answers and get it all fixed up soon!

Kate - You too, I hope you find out if and what is wrong with Lachie. (Oh, and I have been meaning to say for the last few days, sorry we left ya the other day at Hyperdome. We waited a while but then I really had to get home to Liam. Sorry!)

I cannot believe my little man will be 2 tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! Im so sad that he is growing so fast, but so proud of him and his little personality too. We had his celebration and all his presents today cause Daddy has to workl all day tomorrow. My god he got spoilt! Even more so than Xmas! I want him to stop growing!!

Again, don't log on for a day and not only heaps of posts, but a new thread. Will try to remember what you all were talking about.

Mo - hope Maddi is feeling better. I bet it was scary to be told to get to the hospital straight away.
Kim - sorry to hear Jas' skin is still no better. Hopefully the Dr will have some answers. Does it cause her pain?
    Kate - how's Lachie?
Leah - hope Eliza is treating her sister better for you
Becky - happy birthday for Liam for tomorrow. How exciting.

Bit of a rough day today. I have been worried about a few things and it all caught up with me. Anyway DH came home from work and took me out for lunch and then shopping so I feel a lot better now.

Off to a lactation clinic tomorrow. L has been really funny with feeding over the last few weeks. I have never been really confident that he attaches properly and given he is still small I was worried that he isn't getting enough. Barb Glare (BB LC expert) thinks he is doing fine so feel a bit better but going tomorrow to get a refresher on BF.

New routine is starting to kick in,I think. Last night got him up at 9.30 and down by 10.15. He slept until 1.30am and while I put the dummy back in and hoped he would settle he didn't for long so did a feed at 2am. He then slept through to nearly 6am. Had a guest over tonight but have more or less followed the same routine, so hopefully he will follow last night's example.

    Hope you are all well.

    Hey all!

Becky - Happy birthday to Liam!!!

Kim - Poor Jasmine, I hope you find something that works for her skin soon.

Mo - Sorry to hear Maddi has a UTI, I hope she is feeling a bit better today. The poor little girl . You must have been so stressed to see her in that much pain.

Alz - Good to see you in here again! Glad that the routine with Ethan is working, even if he is only catnapping!

Misskate - I hope Lachlan is OK. Let us know how he goes.

Saffi - Hope you have a happier day today . Good luck at the lactation clinic, I'm very sure you are doing a great job BF'ing, but it will probably make you feel more confident after seeing a LC. Glad to hear Lachlan's routine is starting to kick in!

I'm a bit worried Kieran has an infection or something. He woke up from a nap yesterday and his right ear was coated in dried ear wax on the outside and there was a big chunk of it inside. Joel and I seem to have something, I have a funny throat and my ears hurt a bit and I have dizzy moments, Joel has been lethargic and says he "feels sick" all the time. Kieran seems happy in himself, but he has been really upset to go down for a nap and he refused to sleep for his early evening nap yesterday. I'm not sure if I should take him to a GP or just wait a day or two to see if he improves.

I've had a headache for two days now and it feels worse this morning . I will keep drinking heaps and cross my fingers it leaves today.

    Have a great day everyone!!

Trish sorry to hear the three of you aren't feeling well, Hope you all feel better soon.

I took Maddi to the Dr's because if she wasn't sleeping or feeding she was crying or screaming, she's usually a vocal baby but never that bad & she looked like she was in alot of pain.
Also she wouldn't even finish off a bottle & she loves her bottle's.
She is doing alot better now, still cry's alittle when she has to pee, but she's not crying all day & night now.

Kim hope you find something that works for Jasmine's skin, My Cousin has bad eczema had it all her life, Maybe i can find out what she uses for you.

    Kate hope Lachlan is ok.

Ive been told rolled oats are the best thing for their skin. However the stuff i do use now has oats in it so im not to sure.

She skin today looks really crusty...man that sounds feral i know...i just feel so sorry for her. She doesnt seem to be in pain..its more an annoyance to me i think. Chelsea has the perfect skin..not a blemish on her..and Jasmine is the opposite!

Trish hope ur all feeling better soon.

Seems all the babes have hit a bit of a rough patch.

Hope everyone gets through it all OK.

Max...after being a fab sleeper, is starting to cry for about 2 hours at night. Don't know if it's another growing spurt coz he is feeding a little more, or whether he doesn't want to be in the dark or alone now that he is aware of us and his surrounds. He was SOOO tired last night and the final straw was to sleep him on his tum, but I got scared after that and couldn't sleep myself, so I went back in and flipped him over. He stayed asleep till morning after that, but boy is it testing me!!

    Have a good day everyone

Kim I remember there being something on one of the current affairs shows about some cream that eczema sufferers were using - had calendula (sp?) in it. But I did a search on their sites and I couldnt see anything. Sorry thats not much help at all. I'm not really one for alternative therapies but have you taken her to a naturopath? They helped my sister with her eczema. Just a thought...
Well I am taking Caitlyn to see the MCHN this afternoon to get weighed and to talk about her poos. I rang them and spoke a bit more, not angrily, just more assertively I guess, and demanded that I be seen during the next clinic run. The receptionist was SOOOO apologetic so of course I felt like a b*tch and said to just bring her in!! YAY So will see how much the little fatty weighs - and more importantly - how long she is!!
Anyway - am actually at work so had better head off and look like I am doing something! MWAH

i saw that article too Rebecca. So is that what it is Kim eczmea?
Is it on top of her head also? If on the head looks like cradle cap my ,chn told me to rub canola (i think thats the oil) oil on his head and gentle use my nails. anyway i did it twice a day for two days and it was all gone. i know this prob wont help ebcause its more than just that but any tips you get one might work.

    Happy birthday Liam

    Happy birthday Liam!

Trish - hope you and the boys feel better soon

We went and had Tahlia's feet and hands done in plaster today, and then they dip them in gold and frame them. She was very well behaved and she kept smiling at the lady!

    Hope everyone else is well!

Back from the lactation clinic. It was the best $80 I have ever spent. Was there for over 4 hours, did 2 feeds. L did act up and show how he has been BF'ing. She reckons that my supply has diminished and gave me an action plan to increase it. I have to demand feed and when he becomes overly fussy and not feeding, give him EBM and the formula if he has not had enough. Then I am to wait 20 mins and express. If this doesn't increase my supply I'm to go to the Dr and gets some medication. I am so glad I got the courage to go. So looks like, to use Viv's terms, I will be on cow duties for a while. L is putting on weight within the accepted range but if this continues he might go backwards.

Last night went well. He was down by 10.30pm, up at 2am for a feed, then down until 5.50am. I then put his dummy in, went to the loo thinking he'd fuss and I'd have to go in and feed him. Nothing. Went back to bed expecting to be called out. Nothing until 6.50am!!!!!

Trish - sorry to hear that you and the boys aren't well. I hope this isn't the start of a cold/flu cycle.
Kim - I have seen some shows etc that talk about this cream that a dad prepared for his son with good results. I'll PM you with the link. But probably best to see a Dr too. Would a referral to a dermotologist be appropriate?
Rebecca - sometimes in this life you need to be assertive to get what you need. I am glad that they have made time for you. It is terrible how underserviced our remote commuities are. I know I am frustrated sometimes that I can't get access to services I need and I live 4km from the CBD!

Anyway, L is awake so better get feeding. Wish me luck!
