kellie - the nurse says that the movement below the gum is the most painful part for some kids. she says they're not coming out yet but with the excessive drooling, hard chewing of wood and anything else he can find and the crying at night (which he never does), i'm pretty sure they're on the move under the gum.

he only woke for food last night, no patches of just needing to be resettled (not like night before every hour and a half). seems unscientific so far but he slept better... could be the chamomilla... *ooh*

eta: julia - it's nice to know my brain isn't permanently in park. not planning on lawyering until he's in kindy or at school (gotta pay for his expensive schooling somehow, huh?). soon i plan to go back to 'yummy mummy modelling' with the boy in tow. probably when he is getting some real food down his gullet.

    Afternoon all

L's just gone down for his afternoon sleep so popped in for an update.

Francesca - great photos of Ryan. I love the one in his bumbo (aren't they great?). Love the message on the t-shirt.
Nic - congratulations on the house.
    Viv - here here!
    Trish - rest up.

We bought the car seat for L yesterday. A SnS Meridian AHR Retractor. Very posh looking. In the end couldn't be bothered trying to compare all the features, shop around for the best price etc. Good thing about the one we got is that it sort of matches the beige upholstery inside the car.
We bought one of those mesh feeders. Got the Sassy brand that has the cover and the water filled handle. Haven't tried it out yet.

Can't remember if I mentioned last time, but all week I have been keeping L up for as long as I can after his last feed. I think my persistance is working as he has been waking at around 4am, having a feed and then will sleep until 7ish. Did need to do a dummy check at 2am this morning, but apart from that been going really well. Now if only I can get him to sleep 7pm to 7am.

Sorry I missed the end of the last thread and just skimmed here

Must run as I need to sew.

Paid Mat Leave - I am all for it. I have got big fat 0 with both of my kids. They couldn't wait for me to leave as they knew I could not return within the 6 months.

Teething - I have an Amber Teething necklace for Amara and I swear it works. The days I put it on she is much happier. Still rivers of drool and chewing chewing chewing but happier. I highly recommend them for boys and girls. NB they do not chew it they wear it and the amber supposedly has an effect on the pain of teething.

    Must dash,
    Hugs,

After a week of really good night sleeps (for us anyway), last night L decides he's going to wake at 2.30am and then at 5.30am. He went down after his last feed at 11.45pm! So not much sleep here. Anyway took him back to bed with me after the 5am feed and we both slept thru to 8.30. Don't know what that was all about.

Not much else happening. Hope everyone's having a good day.

Mo - another Melb meetup sounds good... when do you think? Tahlia has also decided she doesnt like day naps too... only managing 20 min sleeps at the moment.. not good! i think i know why though..... the stupid outside blind is banging on her window in the wind but if i put it up, its too bright! I dont know how else to make her room dark!

Francesca - the pics of Ryan are just adorable!

Viv - how is James going with the teething now? Might have to get myself some of this chamomilla! Where do you get it from? Health food stores?

Saffi - sorry to hear L didnt have a good night... lets hope its a once off and he is back to normal tonight!

how do you find a good babysitter you can trust?

kellied - got the chamomilla from my chemist because they have a natural section. the brand is 'brauer', you may be able to get it from online pharmacies.

Amber i got enough for the prize draw as-well, was lot harder & more time consuming than i thought. I did enjoy the discounts tho

Kellie not sure of what kinda windows you have but maybe try pinning a dark sheet over the window.
Meet-up-I'm pretty much free every weekend expect for the 19th of April(Getting M pics taken).

    Happy 5 months Tahlia and
    Kieran.

If anyone wants relief during the day for 1. entertaining, and 2. sleeping....take them swimming! I just took Max for his 2nd lesson, he LOVED it this time! Even went under water and was let go! Amazing. It only went for 30 mins so there is 30 mins I didn't have to entertain him, and now he's completely zonked out! Best ever!

KellieThis may sound tacky but how about putting aluminium foil on the window!!? People on night shift do it!

Amber Was that guy (I think Henry) fake crying on SYTYCD last night? It was hillarious!

Viv Babysitters....I would only go for my very small family or maybe a close friend, but depends on how long I was going out for. I just have no life these days and just want to stay home with Max anyway!

Happy 5 months to Tahlia and Keiran

Well...gotta go, my house is falling apart all aroud me and need to sort out people to come and fix it! grrrrrrrr

    Hey all,
Yay for drool. I'm thinking about rusks coz i'm sick of pulling bits of newspaper from the roof of Fins mouth - but it is very entertaining for him!
NINJA - what is yummy mummy modelling?

Just back from the GP to have L's eye checked again and she's referred us to an eye specialist....*sigh*

I know we're doing the right thing getting it checked out but I'm so sick of taking him to drs and hospitals.

In other news, the boy will officially be known as 'gigantor' from this day forward - he's up to 8.8kg and is now 71cm long!! Booby juice is good stuff....are we officially the biggest baby now?

Good news - his head circ growth has slowed right down, has taken a nose dive in fact and is back on the charts on the 97th percentile. So at least we can start relaxing about that a bit.

Apart from his eye, everything good here.

Trish - how did K go at the paed??

Happy 5 months to Kieren and Tahlia!!
