    hi all

have been MIA coz this little hurricane has been keeping me busy. wowsers.

so, the sleep disturbance was fair enough, kiddo pushed through TWO teeth at once. Drool and poo central (just like all the books say). he's almost back to sleeping through again (9.30-3.30) last night.

he loves vocalising to the radio at the moment - if it's a rock song he will just yell in a moderately melodic fashion. the lady singers get squeals. mum said i did that too.

in other news... eating heaps, climbing on everything, practising the one-hand walking round his playpen.

i read no-cry sleep solution but j sorted his kit before i really needed to do anything new. thing is, lots of it i was trying already. the lovey has helped (wear it down my top for a bit when i remember).

rebecca - cold hands aren't so much of a drama, it's only when their core gets cold. jj had cold hands in summer and the doc said it's no big deal, in fact they can cool themselves via arms and hands. if they're blue and icey, different story. feel the tum, if that's toasty, it's no drama.

julia - your express thing should be there today. dh took it to work and didn't mail it until thursday!!!
also, if taking him to bed is all that's working, then that's what you do for now. the no-cry sleep woman had a baby co-sleeping and waking HOURLY to nurse... fark! reading it made me realise that j is totally normal with his waking patterns.

with j, if he needs resettling at night, i take him back as close to sleep as i can before i put him down, either boob or bouncing on the fitball with dummy. they are way more needy waiting for teeth to pop through so i wouldn't despair just yet. i thought my good sleeper was gone forever but it seems he's back now that the fangs have popped.

he's covered in porridge so i'd better go...

8 teeth!! Holy cow - I am still waiting on number one!!! Am starting to feel that she is going to be the last to do everything No teeth and still no crawling - although she got up onto her knees for a second or two over the weekend a few times. The little girl at day care who is a few days younger than C got her first 2 teeth over the weekend and has been crawling for a little while now.....my baby is a late bloomer??? I guess she will do it when she is ready.
Good night for sleeping here last night! C ended up having a nap at 440 yesterday and slept until just after 6 so she was up until about 830 and then slept through until 540 this morning. So it was good in one way - long sleep for mum - but no so great cause I had to get up 45 mins later anyway. DH thought I had set my alarm early so we could DTD!!! Grrrr really I had set it because he gets to just get out of bed and go to work where as I get up, have a shower, get ready for work and then get little miss C all ready for d/c and then drop her off and all the rest - as I am sure most of you ladies can relate!
Ambah- Thank you! That pic of C was taken when she was 6 mo. We had it taken in one of those shopping centre stands. I didnt realise it was a competition and she ended up coming 2nd! I didnt buy any pictures because I wasnt there to see them when they came back (was done in Townsville) but my mum went to pick up the free ones and ended up buying a package - $300!!! So glad she bought them!! Anyway - at some stage I hope to put them in the gallery cause they are all beautiful shots of her!
Am at work again - nothing to do as per usual! Just gonna have moirning tea and then sit her and browse BB a bit more - Waiting to hear som egood news from my friend - due in a few days.
OH OH OH - someone on here had some soup while they were preggers and they went into labour - who was it and what was the soup??? My friend is DESPERATE!!!

    Oh the irony!

Hey all! Went to the Melb meet up this morning, it was so nice to meet some more BBers! It was great to finally meet Ange and her gorgeous Lu! Joel had a great time running around at the play centre and K love checking out all the cute babies. K absolutely crashed when we got home, he was so tired!

K has had a really scary rash all over his body. I'm not sure if it's a food allergy or not. On Saturday it was flaming red, peeling and really hot. It was all over his stomach, the back of his legs, his arms and partly over his back the poor little man. I ended up going and buying a cream with cortisone in it to take the edge off, but I'm not keen on using it too much. I want to find a more natural way to deal with it. I'm going back to basics with his food too and going to reintroduce everything to see if I can find what he is reacting to. It's all so hard!

Rebecca - Caitlyn is doing more than K, he doesn't get up to his knees yet, he's such a lump!

Viv - I'm glad James is sleeping better again!

Nic - I've been thinking of you and was about to PM you to see if you're OK! I'm glad the house renos are going well. It will be so exciting to finally move in!

Amber - Well done on getting Myles to sleep in his cot!!! You are making fantastic progress! GL getting the Wiggles tickets. I could have gotten some through DH's work the other day, but Joel isn't really into them and I don't think K would be that interested yet. I'm hoping K gets more into music than Joel does, I'm a huge music lover and feel sad that it's not Joel's thing!

Julia - Sorry to hear you are sick . Have you come down with a cold? I hope you feel better soon.

Claire - Welcome back! Glad you had a nice time away. I hope Harry pops a tooth for you soon!

Saffi - Yuck at the dog bikkies! Every child has to try them at least once in their life LOL!

Mo - Didn't see you today! Is your car now on gas? It will save you lots of $$$. The price of petrol is frightening!

Kellie - Where were you today??? Maybe you went after I left? Hope you guys are well.

I am feeling soooo lazy today, I just ate two rows of chocolate and am willing K to stay asleep so the chocolate doesn't infuse straight into his next feed...

Now guys I dont know if its just me but I re-read my birth story the other day....and its not how I remember it at all! I mean some of it is the same but I remember stuff now that I didnt put in there. Like my MIL having to hold my leg cause the midwife had to go to another birth (dont particularly like my MIL and REALLY didnt want her there for the birth - she was there for DH!). A few varied things like that. Think maybe I should have left it a few months before doing it!!
Oh and thanks for your comments on my beautiful little girl!! She is gorgeous! Even if I do say so myself!

Trish - I was all set on going, looked up directions and bag was packed, and then overnight I had one of the worst nights ever, but nothing to do with Tahlia. Woke up with uncontrollable shivers even though DH said I was boiling hot and a high temp, so after that barely slept at all. Went to the doc and I've got a throat infection so I am now on antiobiotics, so hopefully it clears up soon. I was disappointed that I missed out!

Lucky for me DH stayed home today and looked after Tahlia, so I could rest. I am going to miss him tomorrow!

Rebecca - they are great pics!

Rebecca - great pics of Miss C. I've done those shopping centre photographers twice now. I just can't help myself. The ones of L at 6 months are so much better than the ones at 3. Probably should have more done at 9 months (and then 12) LOL. Yay for your mum getting the photos. You would have missed out on such nice photos. Don't worry C will get there in her own time. Are you still wrapping her at night?
Amber - loved the expo! Yay for Myles learning to sleep in his cot. He'll get there.....
Viv - WTG JJ on the fangs! KWYM about the drool and the poo.
Kellie and Julia - hope you both get better soon.
Nickers - your house renovations sound exciting. It will be so nice once you move in.
Trish - poor K! Have you been to the Dr about the rash?

    - Becky, Claire, Mo , Ange, Alz (and anyone else I missed??)

DH goes back to work next week and we've yet to get full time day care for L. So for the next month (or so) I will be working 3 days a week. Kinda excited about having a few days a week at home with L. Not sure I can convince DH that going part time would be possible.

    Nothing much else happening.

Viv- Was it the top teeth? they gave us curry too.

It's funny, as soon as they start sleeping poorly, become more clingy, or changing their routine, i freak out because i think it is becoming the new pattern, and that i will be up every 15min every inght for the next two years! Then, as you say Viv, it usually sorts itself out within a few days again. I found No Cry great for reassuring me that what i was doing was ok. It is ok to to fall back on old faithful ways of settling, like cuddling, feeding to sleep etc, if what you are trying is not working. It doesn't undo everything, or mean you are going backwards.

Rebecca does your DH seriously think you would set and alarm 45 min ealrt to DTD?! That made me laugh. I would no sooner let my MIL, or anyone i didn't get on with be at the birth than fly to the moon! I disn;t wrtie a birth story, but i am sure events have changed in my head, isn' that what happens to ensure we have more!

Amber- Love to have a cuppa with some of you ladies when i'm in Brisvegas. Dh is in the bridal party and will have boy kind of duties going on, so will be free to shop and socialise! Thanks for hotel ideas, Saffi i think i'll 'wotif' it closer to the date, good idea. Good progress on the sleeping too Amber.

Nickers- Lu has been biting too, i think she giving me a kiss than tried to take a chunk out of my arm/face/stomach! Hoping it is associated with the teething phase.

Ah crap, Lu eating the newspaper............. later.

You know the sad thing Ange....DH REALLY did think that I set my alarm just for that! And whats worse - he asked me last night if I would set it even earlier so that we could....kinda takes the sponteneity out of things doesnt it??
Yeah wasnt happy at all about MIL being there - but too late now to do anything. One of the first photos we have of Caitlyn is DH carrying her all wrapped up still covered in goo with MIL peering over the top with her claw-like fingernails near C's head! And if you ever saw this woman nails you would know what I am talking about!! They are over the top long - I think they look hideous!
Saffi- I LOVE the photos of Caitlyn. I am so glad my mum went overboard and spent the money - at least I didnt have to. this is her first grandchild so money is no problem for her at the moment.
No I am no longer wrapping Caitlyn. I just decided one night a few weeks ago that enough was enough - I was struggling to get her wrapped and she just kept getting out so I suffered through 3 nights of VERY little sleep and then on the 4th night - she slept almost all the way through!! Woohoo. So no more wrapping here. She is rolling now from back to belly and absolutely HATES being on her belly so that wakes her up and normally me going in and rolling her back over wakes her up enough for her to decide she is hungry so then she gets a feed. I can't wait until she learns to roll from belly to back and doesnt need me to roll her back!
I hope everyone else is having a good day! MWAH

    Hi Everyone

Still sick but getting better. Sunday night was awful. Max got a temp of 39.6 so went to give him panadol but he kept vomiting, so ended up getting Panadol Suppository (which I didn't even know existed...thanks Health Direct line!). Finally got his temp down and brought him to bed with us.

Next day took him to Doc....he was on his way to bronchitis...so is on AB's. He is starting to get back to normal. Talking & eating again and being Relaxy Maxy. The teething hasn't helped coz it doesn't make their immune system as strong...so the doctor tells me, which is why his cold just stuck around and ended up getting worse! He is starting to tongue his gum on the left now, so second tooth is probably on it's way.

Viv your post made me feel good...I'm just doing what I have to. I can't leave M to cry, would rather comfort and cuddle to make him feel warm and fuzzy. Also, got package....great! Thanks Just tried regular Nappy on him last night and it held up pretty well on it's own...just a little leak. Tonight will try both. What is that little blue taggy thing on the back of the 'pant'?

Trish How is K and his rash? Figured it out yet??

Rebecca No....C isn't a late bloomer....M doesn't get on his knees...I don't think he knows they even exist! Oh and your photos are so gorgeous! What a smiley girl!

Hi to everyone else! Will BBL

    Sorry very quick post

Trish - sounds nasty! any gut instinct about what it could be? Sounds like Ribo Rash too (have you heard of it?)

Nc - I made a necklace and earrings! Green and black - stayed with an easy design for my first but I really enjoyed it. At least now my Step MIL knows what to buy me as presents.

    Hello to you all!! xxxx

    Back again!

Quick question - what are you feeding bubs and how much/often?

Harry is having breakfast, lunch and dinner now. I serve cereal (oats at the mo), fruit and toast. Lunch pasta and steamed veg, or rice crackers and fruit if we are out and about. Dinner is generally whatever we are having and he feeds himself that.

Anyone introduced egg yet and other allergens?

Is anyone going to the Sydney met-up on the 17th? I've just come across it.

Claire - Caitlyn pretty much has that Rafferty's Garden cereal and stuff for breakfast. Or toast. Plus some plain yoghurt. Lunch is usually some veges and more yoghurt. Dinner is, most of the time, more veges plus a little meat thrown in. I am allergic to capsicum and strawberries and so am holding off on the strawberries until at least one year. But Caitlyn did eat some capsicum (not a very common allergy!) by accident (was in a jar of food that I didnt read properly) and had no dramas. I was told that they could have egg white but not the yolk (or vice versa - dont hold me to anything!!!) at this age. Caitlyn is normally fast asleep by the time DH and I have dinner and most of the time it is not really stuff that she could eat anyway - butter chicken etc. We did give her a bit of steak to chew (gum) on the othe day and she loved it so am going home to cook up a piece for her for tonight this afternoon.
Anyone have any other suggestions - am making up a batch of pea and ham soup in my slow cooker - do you think that would be too salty for her?? I REALLY need to buy some more containers to freeze stuff in for her!
