Kate - I started using cloth when Tahlia was about 11 months, so by no means am I an expert. My personal faves are the snap in itti bittis, I have found pockets a bit bulky and that means alot of her pants don't fit. Can't answer your question about day care, cause I havent used prefolds myself, but I'm sure if you drop into the cloth nappies threads there will be heaps of ladies that can answer your questions, as well as recommend nappies to suit your little one.
