Theres two threads! Guess we go this one?
Sherie - did you see the latest study? Apparently your babies aren't big - our city dwelling bubs are just stunted! lol
Cally - Maybe Katie just needs to re adjust to her surroundings after being in Canberra. I hope she starts sleeping well for you again. All you can really do I guess is keep doing your bedtime routine and she will get back into the swing of things soon enough.
Noni - Thats a good score from Huggies. Well done!
While I was creating the thread Alister bumped my hand and I hit submit twice LOL.
Hayley, I bet it was way harder for you than it was for Maddy. I would ask re the bottles - our preschool has rules put in place by the department that says that everything has to be rinsed in bleach - any plates, cups cutlery that the kids use. So it may not be miltons. And if they are giving her 9 bottles through the day because they think she is hungry, I bet she isn't having *all* of those bottles. No way could she fit it all in kwim?
Arte, if he had an ear infection he would be screaming blue murder. He could just be pulling at it because he's *discovered* it, or it could be teething. LOL at why my babies are big. I saw that on TV last night and I think it is flawed because you just don't know how big your baby is going to be kwim?
I can't even remember what was in the last thread now LOL.
Sherie - No theres no way she'd finish the extra bottles, probably was crying because she was tired. She probably had a little comfort suck and fell asleep at the bottle hehe. It will take them time to figure out what Maddie is like as well I guess iykwim. Rinsed in bleach, is that not dangerous? Maybe not so much for older children? Far out I'd better check that out next week, If they are rinsing in bleach I'll just tell them rise the bottles in water. I wash and steralise the bottles daily anyway.
looks like we will be going to melbourne well warburton to see my best friend and her bubs on the 1st feb - 4th feb just gotta confirm the motel (dnt wanna intrude on her space with new bubs) and then book the flights woooohoooo cant wait!!!
wow sherie its deffinately not like that where ive worked bleach has pretty much been swapped foir something called germex lol and milton is whats used for cups bottles etc but yeah deffinately check that out haley.. if they arent using the bottle twice then yeah no need lol water would be fine, its probably in the regulations though..
i sent back unused nappies but apparantly i managed to chose faulty ones lol coz some were leaky some werent and they said those ones were..
gracie the little boys name is Tarry as in Harry but with a T quite unusual but its growing on me![]()
Hayley wow you've been brave. Don't worry about the lip down and then crying, E does that when she's tired too. They often act up a bit when you pick them up from childcare - often the silly behaviour starts when you arrive LOL. I'm glad you have the option of doing something different if it's not working in a few weeks - all power to you sister!
Noni - HOW EXCITING about your friends new lil boy! Like everyone else I'm dying to know what she's name him...also have they checked if he's hearing yet? (big deal for deaf parents I'm told). You will have to insist he calls you Auntie Noni
ETA - woops submitted before I meant to!
Cally I was going to ask, did you give K the EBM or did DH? Reason I ask is often if you're there they will refuse (cos they know the Booby lady's near!) but if you're not there (ie at this age, in the next room) and they are hungry they might take it more happily. I feed E a couple of times a night - DH sometimes shooshes her back to sleep without a feed - but thought that was normal? However I'm probably less affected cos DH usually gets up and settles her back to sleep after I've fed her (How lucky am I? he just says it makes up for when he's not here plus he needs less sleep than me). She has different levels of alertness at night too, sometimes it's a grinning kicking chatting party in there LOL. BTW happy anniversary for yesterday, feel like "an old married couple" yet? LOL
Gracie I must look up more of those Pinky books, I've only read the one but it was really good.
ETA - Noni missed you post. Tarry, that's unusual, did she say where she found the name? Yay for visiting your friend! We've just booked flights to take E home to see family in the Apr school hols, it seems unbearably far away but I bet it flies past.

md - they just made it themselves they liked it and wanted something unique.. i think my friend may come up here in april or may but i just cant wait lol plus its not confirmed she might not so i had to book something in!!! she said it was too early to check if hes hearing yet (and its a very small hospy so availablility issues) she thinks he is but it will be checked in the next few days i suspect
Evening Yummy Mummies!
Geez! The first day i have actually got off my bum & done some housework & you ladies have been typing up a storm! Do i smell? LOL I probably do actually
Hayley ~ Yup i agree with noni it's probably milton steriliser, I used to use it & it does have a bleachy smell... If the smell bothers you try soaking the bottles in white vinegar & water & then of course rinsing them really well & steam sterlising (if you use a steam steriliser) & ask them not to use it again.
Maybe she pooped herself all up her back from having NINE bottles?! LOL - Did she drink all 9 full bottles? That defnately shows she's missing her mummy if you ask meGlad work went well. Scissors! what a champion effort at a first word!
Gracie ~ WOAH, i read your post & i thought 'sooomeones had a few too many latte's!!!'
I haven't recieved the book yet, I'll let you knowThe paddle pool i got for Scarlet is about 2m, pretty small but it looks huge when she's in it lol.. we got it from clark rubber, They have awesome pool stuff.
I totally miss work, being able to boss everyone around MUWHAHAHA. no, just kidding... I do need some adult conversation though.
Art, I think they can pull on thier ears for both reasons, Does he seem bothered though? Scarlet just loves tugging on her ears & always has.
YAY Noni, Gratz to your friend, I like the name Tarry, It's cute.
I'm jealous... I want a trip away *sigh*
MD ~ The behaviour hasn't been too bad.. We have our moments, I've had to pull them up on swearing, at first i didn't punish them, Just kept asking them not to do it because they didn't know better but now they're starting to get in trouble for it because they've had time to adjust to the newness (is that a word, brain shortage here) of it all... taking it as slowly as possible though.
We've also been learning a heap about personal hygene & basic manners ie: please, thankyou, don't interupt, cover your mouth, chew with your mouth closed, wash your hands after toileting... gee actually there's lots! lol no wonder i'm tired & i feel like a nagging housewife.
We can't get into the hearing specialist until Feb (I'm on the waiting list for cancellations so here's hoping we get in before school starts) & I've decided not to go to the behavioural thing because i'm not sure they're quite ready for a stranger to start interfering yet - There's been so much change for them as it is & we're doing pretty well, It gets easier everyday.
ETA: I forgot i wanted to ask you Sherie, isn't bleach bad for kids?! I'm heaps paranoid about bleach & bleach fumes - I wont let the girls in the bathroom for atleast an hour after a bleach attack.

MD - I tried with the EBM first then passed her across to DH. We will try again tomorrow, but get him to do it first.
Yes, feel a little old and married - it's only been 3 years though!!
She went down tonight without a problem which was lovely, so I got to go out and water the garden which was looking a bit worse for wear after some hot days.
Art - how was swimming?
Cally - Good to hear Katie didnt give you any grief tonight!
Noni - Are Tarry's parents deaf? Is deafness a hereditary thing? How exciting for you going to Melbourne!! Aww the new parents will be so happy, seems like so long ago that we were all in hospital with our new bubs!
Hayley - No she didnt drink all 9 bottles lol she'd be ready to burst I think! I'm assuming they thought she was hungry, when more than likely she was just ready for bed. I keep hearing good things about that wonder weeks book. Let me know how it goes and I may get a copy...mind you by then the wonder weeks may be over!!!
Marydean - Where is home for you? April, time will fly by before you know it you will all be on that plane. How exciting!!
I must say, i'm jealous of all you ladies going on holidays atm!!!
haley both parents are deaf but its not hereditary in either of their families both just once off things... i am getting my copy of wonder weeks to i thought it went up to 14mths?? if its 14wks i may cancell it lol.. ohhh dont mention planes lol i am going on one to see my friend but have this sudden fear of it lol i am so crazy!!!
ok i checked its up to 14mths lol
Morning everyone.
With the bleach thing, it's not a lot of bleach, just a capful in a sink of cold water for rinsing, but it's enough to leave the smell on them, When I do fruit duty (go and and cut up the fruit for morning tea) I don't add the bleach because I don't agree with it. But it was brought in last year after a routine departmental inspection. Its not like the kids really use the plates and cups alot that hot soapy water isn't sufficient to clean them. I think they worry about meningococcal, hence the bleach to kill any bacteria.
Noni, that's an unusual name, but yeah, it grows on you doesn't it?
It William's 4 month birthday today! I am so amazed at how fast it has gone and how much he has grown - 7kg now. I had no idea that I would enjoy motherhood so much, it really is the best thing I have ever done. DH loves being a daddy too, last night he was talking about having 3 or 4.
Noni, yay for your trip, I always get a moment of 'oh my god the plane is going to crash' right around take off time. This time I am more worried about W screaming the whole 4 hours lol. My step-sister named her baby son Teagen, which was a bit weird (as I had only heard it as a girls name) but it does grow on you.
MD, time will fly and you will be on your holiday home before you know it. Has your bebepod arrived yet?
Will has started holding his feet when they are waving in the air. It is very cute.
Ok ladies, I had a *terrible* grocery shopping experience this morning and I'm feeling very discouraged about doing practical things on my own with E. We got most of the way through the shop before E started to fuss, I put her in the sling but of course I'm not strong enough (back - still having post pg issues) to do the whole bending over lifting checkout thing with her in the sling (plus the baby trollet seat is in the way) so I had to put her back into the trolley seat by which time she was *screaming* - all she wanted was for me to hold her poor lil thing. So we got thru the checkout and I picked her up but then I can't steer the trolley one handed (the path is paved and has a bit of a slope) to the car so I had to put her back in the trolley again - screaming starts up. THEN as I went over the crossing we hit one of those reflector bumps *no suspension in the trolley* and her poor little head bobbled all over the place (I was terrified I'd given her a brain stem injury) -whereupon she screams at least 3 times harder if that's even possible. I got her up happy from a sleep and fed her just before going into the shops, I just don't know what else to do...? How do you all manage? BTW I don't remember it being a huge problem with DD1 when she was a bub, I remember a few toddler tantrums but maybe I only ever went shopping with DH???
got my new glasses today!! yipee no wonky eye for me!! has anyone else found though when they hadnt used glasses for ages and then did it seemed a bit blury well not blury just strange?? the lady at opsm said it might take a little getting used to and if they arent right in a week or so bring em back idk i just feel weird!!!
md- :hugs:.. ok grocery shopping i hear ya lol!!! does e like the pram? maybe take H with you and have her push pram while u push trolly??? a favo toy could be a good distraction for E?? Asha isnt great in trolly seat unless we are constantly talking to her and we take a comfy blanket and put that down in it first maybe try that??
arte - i am trying to think about Asha too instead of worrying about the plane i am trying to remind myself its only an hour n a half and i will have asha to concentrate on and dp to hold my hand lol *takes deep breath..
sherie - thats interesting re bleach never heard that before..
