I'm watching Dr Phil atm, its scary to think that there could be sex offenders in my suburb let alone my street. I dont know how we go about finding out where the registered offenders are? The sad thing is I am wary of any man (apart from her father & my dad etc of course) that goes near Maddie. I know I shouldnt think that way but I just do.

I need help ladies, how on earth do I cook red meat!? Lol!! I dont eat it so it never gets cooked in our household. DP eats it though, but not a lot, just in like meat pies, bbq's etc. I bought these small looking lamb leg parts?? yesterday at Coles - thats another thing am I best off buying it from a butcher? Anyway how on earth do I cook it to puree it? I've got a stack of pureed veges in the freezer that I need to use so I was thinking I'd start easy and just do the plain lamb and mix it through what I've already got.

    ****DRUMROLL****

We FINALLY have a tooth through!!!! Only just - I found it yesterday morning after a dreadful night up with him. Last night was pretty ordinary too I might add lol, but we seem to think that a lot of his unsettled-ness in general is 1 because he wakes up cold and 2 he likes to be snuggled with me, so he wakes up alone and doesn't like it. So I think I might try wrapping tonight to see how that goes. Lord knows how I am going to do it though LOL. I do think my resolve will weaken as DH started nightshift tonight and wont be home to know I put him in our bed

Had a day out shopping yesterday and spent way too much money. I needed new bras, so I brought 2 plain and practical and 1 'just for pretty' set by Oroton (I find it confusing that a company that makes sunglasses also makes underwear LOL) which set me back $200. DH likes the 'just for pretty' set , but if he knew I paid $46 for a pair of knickers I think he would die LMAO. Also brought Lindsay and Erin new shoes and a baptism gift for our friends baby. Today I brought myself a 6lt slow cooker because our oven is **** and burns everything. But I think I have killed my cc in the process

LOL at you buying small lamb chops Hayley. Do they have a tail on them and look like a tiny T-bone steak? Sounds like you have lamb loin chops which are just the BEST LOL - so tasty. Anyway, you just cook them in a frying pan with a smidge of oil or under the grill. They will be a bit hard to puree though as they can get a little tough when they are cooked well done. The first meat I started the kids on was BBQ chicken - very tendy and juicy and easy to break down for them. And you are better off buying meat from a butcher too - Supermarkets mostly used cryvac meat (meat which is processed off site and then brought in inside vacuum sealed bags) but then I am biased

Marydean, I'm sorry to hear that H is having trouble, it really sucks that she has had to *live* like that at school. Great to hear though that your school has such a fab anti-bullying policy and program. The kids have a puppet show coming next week about bullying too. Touch wood my kids have never been affected by it. But I admit that when in highschool, I would have been called a 'mean girl', but the whole class year was like it - we fed off one another like a pack of vultures so we all had our turn at being in both the bully and victim roles and I shudder when I think about it now.

MD, great that H's school has a good policy. When I was in primary school a boy was always teasing me, then one day I got sick of it and pushed him - he cracked his head open on a table and got a couple of weeks off school LOL, he never bothered me again

Sherie, I was looking at bras today but they are so expensive! And it was cold so I couldn't be bothered trying them on so I just got W some clothes and left.

Pregpan, good to hear N is better.

    Gracie, how is the DYSON!

Noni, your new hair looks great! I would love to do that but I have wide shoulders and am chubby so if I have my hair short I look very lesbo.

I swear W was an Indian in a past life, the kid loves curry! He chows down on roti and DH gave him some dipped in butter chicken sauce and he couldn't eat it fast enough. He was also eating rice which he really liked.

I finally got W some shoes today so he can go outside without getting wet feet. He loves to be out there and cries when I bring him in. Then he leads me to the door all day.

Oohh exciting news (for me anyway) - one of the girls from playcentre called this morning and we went out for a big walk, looks like I might actually be making some friends.

Another bad night, I have ordered the No Cry Sleep Solution, hopefully it will have something for me. Otherwise I am left with put up and shut up or controlled crying. We should be moving in a few weeks so I am hoping to implement some things then.

haley - ahahaha u sound like i did when i learnt to cook red meat.. havnt cooked lamb chops before but i would assume in a fry pan like you would cook steak?? lol dont rely on my advice though am no meat expert either.. roast meats are pretty easy to puree ive found though..
md - wow that is an impressive bullying policy is that just a public school?? glad H talkes to you about it i'm sure that makes all the difference..

Noni, this is Alister's 4th tooth - its just the one thats been taking ages to finally come.

Arte, I hear you on the put up or shut up - cc isn't an option here - so I am just going to have to deal with it and hope the end is in sight lol. Out of the 4 of them, he would have to be the worst sleeper at this age.

I have unpacked my slow cooker, but I have no idea where I am going to keep it when it isn't being used LOL - its huge! We have a freezer full of slow-cookable meat though - lamb neck chops, shanks, shin beef, and chuck steak so I can't wait to get into it and start using it.

    hello everyone

arte- the dyson is amazing!! i am in love, thanks for asking LOL, i haven't had a full on go yet cos i've been out all day and now it's a bit too late and dark in our house (dp is a sparky and we have the worst lit house i've ever been in- go figure?!?). can't wait till tomorrow to give the house a good work over.
glad you've made a new friend

md- any school that implements a restorative practise on bullying is doing really well. i am primary school trained as well and have done postgrad studies in student welfare including heaps on bullying (something else you didn't know about me LOL). if you want to do any reading on the topic- maybe ways you could help H, i suggest reading anything by Andrew Fuller.

sherie - chuck A in your bed!!!! dh will never know and it's so good snuggling with your little man xox

    noni- your hair looks/sounds great!!

And who can blame you Sherie, its always nice to have a snuggle in bed. Which tooth is it thats coming through? Hope he gives you a decent sleep tonight. I'm new to slow cooking but so far so good, its wonderul actually! So convenient to able to chop things up and throw them all in and just leave it. DP is loving it too. Lucky you having a spend up on yourself! Had a laugh at your DH loving your new just for pretty set, typical male lol. Sherie I dont even know what a t bone steak looks like hahaha, all I know about this lamb is its part of the leg and theres like 4 steaks and they are pretty small, well compared to a chicken breast. Thanks for the tips re cooking them! Now I just need a peg for my nose lmao.

Gracie - Far out how many years did you spend at uni if you dont mind me asking?

Arte - Yay so happy for you and your new friend! When is the lady from next door moving in?

Noni - Are you another one who doesnt eat red meat? lol

Well all my talk last week about how well Maddie sleeps has backfired I think. Her sole tooth seems to be doing the whole come up and go down again dance. Last night she was up a bit and I was knackered this morning. Since going to bed at 7.30 tonight she has had a cry a few times so far, so we've given nurofen (hate doing it!) and we'll see what happens.

Hayley, AH! you mean lamb leg steaks? those are best for cooking in the SC as they can get really tough if you cook them any other way. How long have you not eaten red meat for? It's his top right tooth that has just broken the skin. So far he is sleeping well tonight with not a peep out of him. I put a pillow on each side of the cot, leaving a little gap in the middle just wide enough for him to lay between them and then covered it with a blanket, so he couldn't get under the pillows. He looks really cosy so fingers crossed it does the job.

    good afternoon ladies

hayley- i spent 6.5 years at uni and now i'm a sahm!!! funny hey? dp failed year 12 and now earns between 3-6 times (depending on how busy he is/how much work there is) what i earn. crazy isn't it??
i don't eat red meat either- haven't for almost 15 years. if you know of any great vegetarian slow cooker recipes let me know cos i've only used mine once since i've had it.

sherie- did you end up with A in your bed? lewis loves a snuggle. atm dp is sleeping in the spare room cos he's working 10 hour days and sleeps better by himself so lewis and i have been sharing our queen size bed together. he loves it and sprawls himself out like he's the 'man' of the house. dp comes in and just cracks up over lewis stealing his side of the bed. it's so cute!

thanks for the tip about fisher price at target Renee. popped in this morning and got 3 new toys for $26. lewis is loving it!

Gracie, Alister didn't end up in my bed at all because he slept through the entire night without waking up AT ALL!!!!!!!!! I woke up at 4am in a panic because I realised that he hadn't woken up at all LOL and I had to get up and check him to make sure he was OK. He ended up sleeping till 7am and then I brought him in with me for a snuggle till I got up at 7.30. So I don't know if it was what I did with his bed or if it was just a one off - but I am really hoping that he does it again tonight LOL.

Sherie, yay for A sleeping the whole night! W slept for three hours in row last night and I thought I was lucky lol

Gracie, that sucks you spent so long at uni and your DH earns more than you. My DH and I did the exact same degree (all the same papers) and I always got better grades and he took an extra semester to finish because of his fails and still he earns 2.5 X more than I did. At least it means I can be a SAHM but still a bit annoying

Hayley, sorry your talk of sleep has backfired, I was hoping if I complained about W he might sleep though but it didn't happen lol

Noni, I am really interested in cloth nappies but I have looked at the cloth threads and they are sooo confusing! Is there a dummies guide to it? A lady at playcenter uses ecobots, they are like a prefolded rectangle that lines a cover I think? Is that what you do? I have a drier now so it wouldn't be much of a drama to wash them.

DH seems to have changed his tune about controlled crying, now he thinks if it is only a few nights it won't matter. From the same guy that growled at me for letting W grizzle for a few minutes in the car lol. I refuse to do it but I am really hoping the no cry sleep book has something I haven't thought of.

Looks like he might start walking by himself soon, he keeps standing side on to the couch and lifting his hand off and almost stepping but then he grabs back on. I think the crab-crawl has given him a taste of freedom lol. It would be great if he could walk by himself, I have spent the last couple of months lending my finger for support and my back would love it if I wasn't hunched over all day.

    hi everyone
just a quick one fromme, as it is nearly time to get N ready for bed...
i call it 'round 1' for the night!!
Sherie - yay for A sleeping thru! hope it happens again tonight. did you try the weleda powder yet?? we are back to using it again as N seems to be getting another tooth (his 5th). i thought of you last night when he woke screaming!
what is the fisher price sale? and is it still on??
Arte - i hope the book has some good info for you. how is the new lady next door?
i whipped up some new casseroles for N yesterday - a lamb and sweet potato one (adapted fromannabel karmel puree book) and also some chicken and vegies (with carrot, corn and peas - made it up). he seems to like them though is havingone of those 'finger food only' days... i grated apple for himtonight which he loved..
i have been meaning to say, i put a lambskin underlay under Ns mattress a few weeks back and he has beens leeping a lot better, we keep his room warm (whole house is about 21 overnight LOL) but i think that helps with him being comfy in the cot. so theres an idea. i am also tryingflannel sheet tonight so will tell you how that goes..
anyway off i go, as i can smell N's nappy (that's what all that grunting was LOL) and it is then time for his shower and bed...

went to a health store today to get some stuff for asha shes been really rashy lately.. when we switched her over to cloth it cleared up alot but theres still some rash.. ive found she goes really red after the bath too so no more johnsons i love the smell of bedtime bath damn it!! we got some weleda products to try out and a bath oil which is a bit weird and ishould have read the ingredients first coz it says it has emu oil in it and i am not sure about that lol.. we also got a weleda soap so see how we go.. their rash cream is really good they have both a rash cream and a nappy chane cream we went with the rash one because the ingredients are more soothing it just soaks into her skin its lovely!! also got the teething powder so will let u know how that goes
pregpan - u just reminded me i want to change ashas sheets before i put her to bed they are so dirty i have no idea how that happened..
arte - feel free to ask quesions about the cloth nappies there are so many threads because of so many types lol.. ok so at the moment at home most of the time we use a terry flat (big square of towelling material) folded in a particular fold done up with a snappi (grippi thing that kinda replaced safety pins) and a cover over the top.. we also have a few pocket nappies which are like a cove with an opening at the back so u can stuff it with absorbant material, alot of people fine these good because you can customise it to your bubs weeing.. we have a few itti bittis which are what most people would call an AIO or AIT (all in one or all in two) this basically means they are ready to go dont need a cover just wack them on like a sposie and your off, the reason they are AIT rather than AIO is because itti bittis have boosters that snap in (with like press studd ttpe fastenings) so quicker drying times and the bonus of just snapping in new boosters to create a whole new nappy if the covers not wet (which it wasnt after 4 hrs so pretty impressive).. newest to my collection are the baby beehinds which i bought for overnight because people say they are good these are called fitted nappies the boosters in these also snap in and they do require a cover.. lol hope that all makes sence!! feel free to ask away i loooove cloth now!!!
sherie - woooohooo A slept through for you you must feel a million bucks!!
gracie - how cute lewis taking up his side of the bed lol asha like to cuddle in so she can pull my hair!!!

Gracie - Isnt it always the way! My DP makes almost 3 times my normal wage atm and will still be doubling what I make as a teacher once I finally get my degree. Its ridiculous, sometimes I wonder why I am bothering with uni. Wow 6.5 years at uni how did you make it!? lol. I eat chicken so I'm usually making chicken something in the slow cooker. I'll let you know if I come across any yummy vego ones though.

Sherie - Yay for Alister sleeping through! Isnt it funny how we so want them to sleep through but when they finally do and dont wake up during the night we freak out?! Do you think it was the cushions around him, maybe he felt snug and like he was between mum & dad? I havent eaten red meat since I was about 8 years old, & my sisters & mum are the same now. Mum was never too keen on meat when we were young but she gave it to us often & allowed us to make the choice. So thats what I'm struggling to do with Maddie hehe. Who knows, maybe she will eat it forever or maybe she will follow mumma Either way it doesnt bother me.

Arte - That is terrible that you two did the same degree yet he still earns more! Is that because he is a male? Sad to see we still live in a male dominated society. There was a write up on news.com a few weeks ago about how in some jobs men are still making more than women, even when in the same job.

Pregpan - YUMO I am in awe of your cooking ability. Did you grow up in the kitchen or what!? Your mum must have been a good cook? My DP's mum can cook anything, she is a great cook & loves cooking, therefore DP spent alot of time in the kitchen with her when he was younger. He is such a great cook now, I'm very lucky!

Noni - Let me know how the teething powder goes.

Anyway must get back to cooking dinner, I finally have Maddie in bed & now I'm making tea for everyone for once they get back from the footy. Its always hard cooking for my cookaholic MIL!
