jelly - i hear u on the snoring!! DH can snore quite loudly sometimes yet he denies that he even snores! lol. when i was pg he did end up going down to the spare room a few times coz my snoring kept him awake.
b - thanks for answering my question on solids! we use MCN's here full time and they are soooo easy! i love using them. i always have comments from people about them. i find that i really am not washing that much more then before. so easy not to worry bout having to run out and get disposable nappies all the time! saving money which is great too.
afm, we tried baby rice cereal last night. i mixed a bit of formula into it and gave it to Hamish. he had a few mouthfuls before he started to cry. i dont think he was too keen on the taste of it. going to put a tiny amount of apple puree into it tonight then see how he goes. hopefully that makes it taste much nicer. the dog really enjoyed the leftovers tho! lol.
we saw the paediatrician today. she was really happy with his progress. he now weighs 6.1kg the little porker! he still needs to have his pentavite and iron but she said that once he is fully established on solids then we can stop them. she is thinking around 6 months of age. she also wants to see him in 6 months time just to make sure he is fine but she thinks there will be no issues at all. he is doing so well tho. i am so happy! makes me feel good to hear things like that.
on another topic, DH left for darwin today. he is there for 2 weeks so its just me, hamish and the dog. going to take hamish for a walk in the pram later with the dog to see how i go. i tried it the other day and it wasnt too bad. just have to keep reminding honey not to pull on the lead otherwise its too hard to handle her and the pram! besides i really need to lose a few kilos. i am 2.5kg over my pre pregnancy weight now (was almost back to the pre pg weight but ate too much junk food) so i really want to lose that and a bit more. we have a treadmill so will also give that a go later on.
b - we are using pea pods and cushie tushies at the moment. i have a couple of others coming from baby beehinds this week which i cant wait for! pea pods are pockets but cushie tushies are aio. pea pods are ok. took awhile to fit him properly and only getting leaks every now and then. not my fave but they are doing the trick! also have the same problem with the CT ones too. i am hoping the baby beehinds will be better. i ordered a nappy that will last him from newborn to toddler. if they work well then will buy some more. i also ordered their bamboo fitted. u need a PUL cover with them but i have heard great things. would love to look at your friends website.
b - r u going to get anymore? i have 26 all up (2 i cant use which is a different brand but leaks all the time, thinking of using the pea pods bamboo in there), 2 CT and 22 pea pods. i am finding that washing every 2 days just gets me thru most of the time. r u washing every day then or r u still using disposables at night or in between?
Teresa & ~b~- Yay for the cloth nappies! I too am a cloth nappy lady! I have a whole box of them... I have found that each of the brands have there own advantages and disadvantages. I have a mixture of pea pods, cushie tushie, bubble bub, touchin' cloth, baby beehinds and a few homemade ones from someone. I find them really awesome for day time, although i do still use disposable for night as they seem to be more comfy for long periods of sleep. ~b~, what is the name of your friends website?
i am waiting for the night nappies to come into stock at baby beehinds so that i can try them out on Hamish. i put the microfibre insert into the pea pods but it doesnt really make too much a difference at the moment with Hamish sleeping thru. he is just a hungry monkey i think!!! i am hoping that by using the night nappy that he will sleep thru the night then. he gets close to doing it. depends on what time he goes down to sleep.
afm, af finished last saturday after being really heavy (i heard thats normal), anyway DH and i DTD monday night and yesterday i had some bleeding (only small amount) and then today i had some more. i am guessing its not normal but just want to know if anyone else has had this issue before or is it normal and i am just wrong?
I am starting to feel guilty for eating junk lately given that some of you are making great progress with losing weight! Jellymaker, I can't believe you only put on 7.5kg - wow! I put on 13kg and have 2.5kg to lose to get back to pre-preggo weight but was at my heaviest when I fell pg so could do with losing about 6kg all up. Thinking of getting a personal trainer once a week for about 2-months to see if that helps me get to my goal or at least close to it. B, I think its you that is doing grp P/T have you found that it is making a difference and do you do it in a gym or park? I'm not a member of a gym right now and was hoping to do it in the park near me, but hope that I get as good of a workout as you would in a gym.
Thanks for the reco of Bambini Pronto too, for those that mentioned they use it. I just had a look and bought a few things including a Grobag, hope DS likes it! Swimmer nappies are also on sale if anyone is interested, about $13, I got one for DS for when it gets warmer again, as we'll start swimming lessons around then. I'm quite excited about that.
Teresa, well-done for Hamish weighing over 6kg, that is great news. It sounds like you have been on quite a journey with him being born early.
B, did you watch Modern Family? I really liked it, is very funny, especially the gay couple.
Human Bean, I wish DS would go to sleep in his sling! He did when he was really little, but I am having trouble at the mo with his. I have a Close Baby Carrier and it doesn't support their head unless they are tucked into your chest and DS wants to look around, and while he is quite strong, he stills needs neck support. I figure it will be better when he is big enough to turn around and face out. Does anyone else have this carrier or know of it? Would be curious to know how others find it.
DS is settling to sleep much better these days. I wonder if he is just getting 'use to how to go to sleep', if that makes any sense. About 2-wks ago it was taking me about 40-mins sometimes longer to rock him to sleep but in the last few days I have only rocked him for about 2-5 mins and he is out like a light. He has also started waking up during his sleeps sometimes, but is putting himself back to sleep - if we leave him for a while. Fingers crossed things stay like this and continue to improve, I am finding he changes his 'routine' reguarly.
I'm really at my wits end at the moment I was trying to get Angus to sleep and each time I put him down he would wake up and start crying.. 2 hours later I rang DH to see where he was (he'd gone to the gym and run some errands) and he joked that he had decided to go out tonight. I knew it was a joke, but I hung up on him! DH managed to put him to sleep when he got home and I got to cook dinner (I was very hungry!)
Well we picked up our new car today!! Very exciting - although we still have to put the baby seat and everything in there.
All this talk about weight loss - I put on 20kg!!! I still have 8.5kg to go to get back to my original weight and I think it is all in my thighs and bum. I guess I should do more walking....
Anyway, dinner's ready so I better go finish the salad (actually a packaged salad)
Hi Nat, congrat's on the new car, I hope you enjoyd your dinner. Just wanted to say that my son was very settled at about 6-weeks, they say baby's have a growth spurt around this time, so maybe that is what is going on with Angus. Hopefully it won't last long. My DS in now 9-weeks and the last 2-wks have got much easier, hopefully it does for you also.
Well Hamish is teething! Had to give him some nurofen at my aunties today (I left panadol at home) and he really settled well. Much better then when I give him panadol! poor little fella.
Went out with MIL and FIL today for lunch and they bought us a high chair for Adrian. We were so excited to put it together but after a half an hour of not understanding the instructions and scratching our heads we realised the manufacturer built it back to front!!!!! gonna take it back to the store and ask for a new one that isnt put together wrong! Very annoyed but relieved it wasnt us not understanding simple instructions. LOL
Adrian is sounding very funny as after having a mild cough for a few days, he seems to be losing his voice. He seems fine otherwise and doesnt have a temperature or anything so im not sure if i should do anything? I cant think there are any treatments for babies losing their voice? Does anyone have any advice? He seems perfectly healthy otherwise but just thought id ask.
He is booked in to get his immunisations on monday morning so i hope it doesnt hurt too much and he doesnt get crook afterwards. Fingers Crossed.

Jelly - keep an eye on him and if u get really concerned take him to your gp. As long as he doesn't have a fever and doesn't appear to be short of breath at all he should be ok. U could always call a locum to see him tonight if u r worried at all. HTH

Well Angus had a good day today considering he didn't get to have a proper sleep with DH and I dragging him around. We went to my best friends house and I asked her and her DH to be Angus' godparents - she was very excited Then we took Angus to get some photos done at one of the places in Westfield. He went well and we caught some of his smiles which is great cause it's only just started!
We've set a date for the Christening too - in 3 and a half weeks if we can find someone to do it. I just hope that Angus will fit into his gown because I want to use the same one that Mum used for my sisters, brother and I, but he is getting big so quickly
~b~, Con & Teresa - I am also using cloth nappies. We're using Itti Bittis and Green Kids, although I only have a couple of Itti's that fit Fraser at the moment. I can see us moving to using them more in the next few weeks. The Green Kids are a OSFM but they are very wide in the crotch, so will wait a few weeks before trying them. I also had a couple of Baby Mio's but they leaked every time I used them.
Teresa - wow, Hamish is teething already! I hope he is going okay! Must say I am dreading that with Fraser. Was chatting to my mum on Skype the other day and she was mentioning how bad I was with teething. One time, they had the doctor round and my temperature was so high that he stripped me off, took me outside and sat me in the snow! Don't think anything like that is recommended nowadays. Let's just hope Fraser doesn't take after his mummy in that department. I am going to buy an amber teething necklace anyway, after reading such rave reviews of them on here.
Jelly - what a fiasco with the highchair. Lucky you won't be neediing it for a while! Let's hope it gets sorted out.

As for us, all is going pretty well. After me saying that Fraser is settling reallly well when I put him down to sleep, the last few days have been a bit of a nightmare. Serves me right for saying it - obviously jinxed our goood luck! The kids next door have decided to kick a football against the fence, which is right outside Fraser's room, and it's clearly waking him up. It took me 2 and a half hours to get him settled yesterday afternoon and he was woken up after 20 mins - just a coincidence that's when the kids got home from school and started playing in the back yard. It's really starting to get on my nerves cos through the day when the kids are at school and the mother is out, the dog barks, so there is never any peace and quiet. I was on the verge of going round there yesterday, but I don't want to get on the wrong footing with them.
Thanks ~b~ - I thought I was just sounding like a mean mumma! I know they are kids and I don't want to take their fun away, but we live in one of the "greenest" areas in Perth, in that there are multiple parks on every street. There are 3 that are within 3 mins walking distance, so I don't understand why they don't go there. It's not like they have much room in their yard to play either - I guess that's why they are using the fence. What makes it a bit worse is that they have only been in the place for about 2 months. The previous couple sold up and they new owners are renting it out. I guess I could always get in touch with the Real Estate company but it would be pretty obvious who had made the complaint, as they are bound to hear Fraser crying sometimes. I'm just a bit scared to go round as they seem a bit bogan-ish and DH said the hubby is a big burly fella!

well i am currently waiting for my arrival of my purchase from BBH. i was hoping for it to be here by today but i guess it wont come now till next week we have a shop here in adelaide that sells all different kinds of MCN's. they have these cute pocket nappies with monkey faces or dog faces etc on them for $20 on special. i really want to go and get one so that i can trial it as a night nappy but DH wants to keep to just one brand and got irritated on the phone last night. so i guess i will just have to wait for BBH to get night nappies back in stock!
my dog is currently outside digging a massive hole! having trouble with her at the moment. everytime i sit down in the rocker to either rock hamish to sleep or feed him a bottle, she thinks its time to hump my legs! lol i think its a dominence thing. always happens in his room with me holding him. lol
Sorry I've been MIA, but I got my AF on Wednesday and have been grumpy for pretty much the whole week. Plus I've realised how crappy it is to look after a bub who refuses to sleep much during the day and having to deal with AF cramps and the tiredness that comes with it
Sorry I don't have much energy to go through all the posts, but I hope everyone is well. Cameron is still pretty cheeky and refuses to go down for more than 1-3 hours total during the day. Yesterday for the first time in ages he slept very well through the day. Today is back to little sleep unfortunately. He is also taking anywhere between 80 - 120 ml per feed. He's supposed to be having 150-160 ml. He went ferral two days ago and fed every 2.5 hours. WTF?? He's been going anywhere between 3-4 hours during the day and sometimes 5 hours during the night. Once he didn't have a feed for 7 hours
Anyway, going to lie down for a bit, I've got a yucky headache.
beata - Hamish was feedng like that too. i just kept giving him the allocated amount. he still sometimes doesnt take the whole bottle but i figure as long as he is still drinking and having good amounts of wet nappies then he is all good. as for the sleeping, keep persisting. do u have a rocking chair? i found that sitting in that and holding Hamish really close with a dummy in for a few minutes before putting him in his cot, he went to sleep really quickly and stayed asleep for awhile. i read the contented little baby book by gina ford and she said that to try and keep the baby awake for most of the day and that they only need 3 hours sleep during the day! i think every baby is an individual and at the end of the day i dont want a grumpy baby which if he slept that little amount is all i would end up with! maybe try a top up bottle before trying to put him to sleep too. that might work! HTH xx
Teresa- Wow! Teething already...the poor little fella. I hope he doesn't have too many problems with his teeth! Lol at your dog humping your leg!
Miamunchkin- i hear you on the kids issue! We live opposite the primary school (which is great for my kids, cause they go just across the road) but the bell wakes grace up all the time. The worst part though is at 3.oo when the kids are walking home or waiting for parents to pick them up, they yell and carry on out the front of our house and always wake her up if she is sleeping. I have started to put her in my bed for her afternoon sleep because it's not as noisy!
~b~ how is your new pram? I have been looking at them for my brother who has a bub due soon and already has a 12 month old! Are they good and practical?

AFM- Grace is doing well. She is loosing her newborn look and growing into the infant stage. I miss the newborn stage! She sleeps through the night until 5/6 most nights now and sometimes goes until 4/4.30. I hope she continues this long term! I just found out my other brother is having a baby as well! ohhhh, they are making me clucky again already! lol!
