Where do u live LJ?
Sal - Of course we want your updates!!! Nice to hear from you again. Good to hear that Lachlan is doing well. I agree with you..... how quickly has the time gone?!
Lou - one of the girls in my mums group uses an olive oil based cream that you can get from the chemist. She swears by it. I'll get the name of it today. Excema is just horrid. Had that with DS1 (he also ended up with childhood asthma - which he's since grown out of - apparantly theres a connection)
LJ - one word..... NO!!! No you cannot continue to look after your SILs kids. I know how tiring it can be when we have DHs kids over for the weekend. They are 15 and 12 yrs and for the most part self sufficient. I love them to bits but still extra kids in the house is extra tiring at the best of times. I think it's just the having extra people in the house. Tell her your doc said you need to stop for a bit - particularly the overnight visits. Your priority is your immediate family and yourself.
Jandals - Robert goes to bed by 7 (usually just before) then I give him a dream feed between 9 and 10 and then he's awake between 2 and 3 for another quick feed then it's back down until 530.
Polly - We've only just gone back to this pattern (see above). For a few weeks Robert regressed to waking up 2-3 hourly throughout the night. It was just a developmental thing, it just happens. Once I accepted that it seemed easier and I went with the flow and "fingers crossed" we are out the otherside and progressing to a better sleep routine. I can handle only getting up once!
Going to go wash and blow dry my hair while bubs is asleep....... ah the little luxuries we look forward to!!
Where do u live LJ?
Shell - I live in Banora Point in northern nsw (just on the border).
Poor Soph has little man's illness and now has wicked temps - she is being brave - so the saga of illness continues!
I know, MOstly I am pretty philosophical about it. We even had 4-5 weeks where he slept 8-10 hours at night a couple of weeks ago. But at about the 2 month mark of never having more than 2-3 hours sleep I am totally exhausted. I think I'll get DH to give a bottle tonight. I really do understand the use of sleep deprivation as torture these days. Work and a demanding 2 year old make day time napping impossible So I am running on about 5 hours of broken sleep each night. But this too shall pass. I hope he changes to a more sustainable pattern soon! The giggles almost make up for it! SOOO cute
LJ how are u feeling, how do they determine you have PND
Shell - They determine whether you have PND by your score on a test with multi choice questions and by asking questions to put that score in perspective, along with the amount of time is has existed and the strategies applied to get you feeling better and their success. As I have chosen to continue to breastfeed, medication is not an option. So I have to pull myself through - which I did with my son! I just have to get extra proactive about it....time to get super motivated I guess.
Soph is also waking two to three times a night for feeds - what can you do...just have to take the ride!
LJ. Yep, it is a ride and we keep going. Saturday night I thought I was going to lose it. Lack of sleep was getting to me big time. Last night he was perfect - I gave him a dream feed at 9.30 then he woke at 2 and then again at 5. I just feel so much better today. It's amazing what 4 hours of sleep in a row will do for the soul. I admire you for continuing with breastfeeding. Sometimes I think it would be so much easier if Robert would take a bottle, but honestly, I just treasure those moments when we just gaze at each other after a feed. Look after yourself LJ and know that we are all here for you.
Gosh, just re-read that post of mine....... hope you don't think I'm trivialising what you are going through!![]()
Hello fellow mummies....
Sorry for the short post but Ive been flat out building myself a website and would love your honest feedback when you have a chance...
Please let me know if you have any suggestions etc as this is only STAGE 1 and I have more ideas, but have to start somewhere!
you can check out the temporary site here: Pregnant Possibilities - Pregnant Possibilities - HypnoBirthing - Home
Please be as constructive as possible, and try to view the site as someone who knows nothing much about HypnoBirthing, and may be looking for information or deciding on if they do a course or not. Is there everything you need to know on there, do you have more questions, etc.
I am going to add a photo of me shortly…..
Thanks so much and hope you are all doing fabulously well - will make some time to catchup on posts soon.
xx
Bree, I had a quick look at the site. It looks great! Promise to have a proper look when I've got some time.
OMG what a morning! Soph woke at 6am and just got her to sleep at 10.45am!!!! Ended up giving her panadol at 9.45am to help her settle - toddler kept crying too.....Argh!!! Fingers crossed she sleeps for a while!!!!!
Good luck with that LJ!![]()
Thanks Cass...Tuesday was the day from hell - one of those days where every little thing goes wrong. Today was much better!!!! Yay!!
Jandals - our sleep routine is pretty much the same as Cass has listed for Robert.
LJ - Wow, sounds like you have had a tough run. I agree with Cass - can you say no to your SIL's kids... you gotta look after yourself first and foremost. Also do you have any options with childcare arrangements for your toddler, to take the pressure off yourself a bit? I admire you for still B/F - your doing whats best for Soph, but remember you need to look after yourself too so rest up whenever you can..... Thinking of you.
Lou - good on you for all your weightloss and exercising! Do I assume since you mentioned Jenny Craig that your not B/F (sorry i cant recall who is and isnt). Ive been so good going to the gym and doing weights and yoga for at least 2 months now, but no real weightloss. Im poss more toned, and definitely stronger and more energy, but still dont have the toned legs and arms I used to have.... Im sure its the breastfeeding (make me so hungry) and even though im eating well im still having dessert/sweet cravings. Suppose if i stopped eating that once a day it would help eh!
Well we have just gotten back from 2 nights at the parents in law down on the Gold Coast. As you may have guessed from my earlier post, Ive spent most of the last week working on my website - Im keen to get my HypnoBirthing business humming along so I get some money flowing in. DH has been off work for a few weeks, but as he has been majorly run down and overworked it hasnt been the best time for us (as was planned). He is finally feeling rested now (due back next wk) so we might actually get some quality time together... anyway i guess its been good he is home cause at least he gets a bit more time with his son.
The gym just announced Zumba classes starting once a week - very excited about that!
Question - Ciaran has outgrown his bouncer in length and esp weight, (he is a big fat chubba bubba) what else can i use? I just put him on the floor etc and am not sure if its worth buying something else (depends when he starts crawling). Not overly keen on the jolly jumper, but just wondering what else you all use/ have used with previous bubs.
Im def feeling like things are getting easier now with less frequent day feeds and less nappy changes as the boy gets bigger - wouldnt mind more sleep but im happy with getting one 4hr stretch a night as a minimum, it seems to keep me sane enough!
Betta go make myself some food ..
Hope your all doing well,
Bree
Hi all. Over the last few days my little bugger has turned away from the breast. Just refusing it - even when I know he's hungry because I can hear his little tummy grumbling. I've checked out the breastfeeding naturally book (endorsed by the ABA) and it can be for a myriad of reasons - I could be ovulating, I've eaten something he doesn't like, he's just plain fussy, he could be teething...... anyway you get the picture.
Well anyway, what I wanted to share was that I spoke to the CHN yesterday at the clinic and she advised me to express that feed (even if I have to end up throwing it out because he won't take a bottle) to keep my milk supply up. She said that in all likelihood he will be back to normal in a few days. Oh and he had a great weight gain of 340g in the past two weeks. His weight is 7180g and he's 65cm long.
Breesa, I don't know if I would bother buying anything else. Although Robert still fits in his bouncer and swing he seems more content to play on the floor now that he can wriggle around. I just put around toys just out of his reach so he's got something to go for. I did have one of those fisher price jumperoos on layby but I ended up cancelling it. I figured there were better things I could spend $150 on.
Oh and another thing. We are moving back to Canberra at the end of September!
