Oh btw Kayden had his needles and health check yesterday (at 10 weeks old). He is right on 5kg (1.7 more than birth) and 55cm (49 at birth). So my little boy is growing well!
Shadow-I'm not sure about Amelia in the baby bath because like Dee we shower with Amelia. She loves it so we have kept doing it.
Chrispe-I am glad your niece is healing well.
Hello everyone else.
Not much going on here. Had 8 week needles the other day and A was great. She stopped crying as soon as dh played her gloworm. She had a bit of a temp the next day but panadol bought it down. She weighed 4360 grams so had out on 360 for the fortnight. She is almost double her birthweight. She is also 4.5cm longer than birth.
She had quite an unsettled night for some reason last night but dh was on night shift so I popped her in bed with me so we could get some rest.![]()

Hey ladies,
Dr tal glad baby annabella does not have a heart condition and hope it stays that way so mummy and daddy doesnt have to worry anymore.
Pholi ive following your other thread about the lactation cookies. Can you replace the butter with olive oil margarine?
Ok now im getting quite worried about dd2. At her 8 week check up, she weighed 6.4kg bw and is 59.5cm. She does not look like a two month old and is the same size as my friends 5 month old. Is she being overfed?
She is exclusively breastfed on demand. Now i have read that you cannot overfeed on bf but even the nurse at the checkup said she will double check with the lc?
She was born 3.44kg and 51 cm and has reflux which causes projectile vomits and explosive poos at least twice a day.
Let me guess she is a comfort feeder? It's common for some refluxy bubs to put on lots of weight due to comfort feeding, to soothe their throat and keep the milk down. Is she on the same percentile with height and weight? If so I wouldn't worry too much. My reflux bubs always put on heaps of weight due to comfort feeding. The other option is to 'routine' feed. Eg feed every 3 hrs.
Gave Miss Amelia her first bath in the big bath tonight with one of them bath supports they lay on. All was going well until she totally freaked out. Ended up having to ditch the support and hold her. I think she realised I wasn't holding onto her and freaked out.
Hello all
Dr Tal, that's great A does not have a heart condition.
Mum2 did the nurse end up double checking and getting back to you? I don't think BF can be overfed. My friends 4 month old is HUGE and I mean behemoth. Seriously, she actually looks as though she is swollen and puffy. But apparently all good.
Hmm don't remember much else sorry.
6 week check with CHN tomorrow. We measured and weighed J yesterday, 62cm and a little over 5kg (54cm and 4kg at birth). So growing well. Think he is having a growth spurt at the moment too.
Shadow, these recipes definitely don't look nearly as unhealthy! I'll give them a go, thanks.
I have been enjoying my oats and flaxseed and fruit and nuts muesli - it's definitely the brewer's yeast that makes them bitter, and the taste of it is slowly becoming less tolerable for me. I tried mixing the yeast with yoghurt, in the hope that I could just swallow it down, but no - it was so gross, I had to rinse it out of my mouth. Then i tried mixing it into a glass of OJ, and i gagged at the sight of it! I might just have to source brewer's yeast in capsule form, so it bypasses my taste buds altogether.
Chrispe, he does have a longer sleep at night, but I try to give him a dream feed when I go to bed around 10 or 11pm, and I wouldn't want to down a stout that late! If I could sip it and enjoy it over an hour at 8pm, I'd give it a go, but... I'll try these other cookie recipes first.
Great that everyone's bub's are growing well. I put aside a heap of 0000 onesies that are really tight on Thor, and pulled out the 000 range...and found some of them look like thy'll be too small for him already! What a shame if he never get's to wear some of these bits of clothing at all!
Mine have been the same. Sometimes I try a few other things like offering warm (boiled) water in a bottle. My DD wouldn't take anything but boob though. DS3 is a bit better, he will sometimes take water, sometimes settle with rocking..... Actually have you tried infant gaviscon? DS3 has it on really bad days (when he is screaming all the time he isn't on boob, that's when I give it. It seems to work quite quickly for him)
I've also been looking up info on the RISA website (and on Facebook) They have some really good suggestions.
Personally I think the weight gain is fine, it's more I get fed up with having a baby on boob constantly. If you are finding its working for you by all means keep doing what you doing. If you have aren't happy that's when to look elsewhere.
(comfort feeding a reflux baby is why my 33week prem is now a 16+kg 2 year old)
Thanks for the suggestions Chrispe. She does not want the bottle at all and not even the dummy wither.
Had another bad unsettled night with projectile vom at 2 am.
Doctor prescribed dd with zantac but i wanted to avoid any meds.
Nurse also confirmed her lactose overload.
I really feel sorry for dd2 because im sure she can sense im not enjoying motherhood as much this time round
Her skin problems her reflux her comfort feeding because she only wants me to carry her and is alwys attached to my boob and her sleepless nights.
Then there my constant health issues and recently an infected boil tjat hurt soo much.
Sorry for theorning rant i just feel so overwhelmed.
Mum2-I am sorry things aren't going so well. *hugs* I personally don't think you can overfeed a breast fed bub and it sounds like C is thriving but it can't be easy having her comfort feed all the time. I hope things improve soon.
hello everyone else.
All good here. A was unsettled and had the runs for a few days after her needles but seems to be better now. She slept 12 hours last night and was so happy when she woke up so she must be feeling better![]()
Hi all, sorry I've been MIA.
DDB - Glad that A is sleeping so well for you and that she recovered from her needles quickly.
Mum2c's - I'm sorry that you're not enjoying motherhood as much this time around. It sounds like you're dealing with a lot of issues, which would be making it hard.
I'm also with the other ladies, in that I don't think you can overfeed a breastfed baby. And if C is a comfort feeder, that would certainly explain her weight. Dummy wise, DD refused a dummy at first. We used a normal sized newborn dummy and she wouldn't take it. No way, no how. She was screaming one day when I was in the toilet and DS popped his dummy into her mouth and she latched right on, so we use his size (12-18 months I think it is) on her and she sucks away, try giving her a smaller one though and not going to happen.
chrispe - wow a 16+ kilo 2 year old is pretty good to start with, add that that prem and WOW
and it sounds like K is growing well too.
Pholi - I hope you find a lactation cookie recipe that you like which isn't as fatening. That's great that T is into 000's. I know what you mean about it being a shame them not getting to wear some clothes. As A was nearly 4kg when she was born she never wore 0000's at all and pretty much all the gift clothes people had given us were 0000's. I feel really bad that she'll never get to wear them. I tried to squeeze her into a couple the first week, but that just didn't work.
Lady N - wow J is longit sounds like he's groing really well too which is great. How did your appointment with the CHN go?
Shadow - had to have a chuckle that miss A was fine sitting on her own in the bath support until she figured out it wasn't you holding her.
Miss D - I can't actually see far enough back to see your post....so I'll wing it. That's great that the paed thought miss A was so alert. I'm like you, I talk to my littlies all the time about anything and everything. It's funny now too cause DS comes out with some of the strangest things to people. Apparenlty he had a go (kind of) at one of the day care carers because they'd done a new wall mural and she'd put a dolphin in with the fish, and he informed her that a dopin is not a fishy, it's a mammal that kickings (how he refers to swimming) in the wayer.
to all those I've missed...ambersky, bambino, terry, kirley ......anyone else I've forgotten.
AFU - I'm sick as. have been vomiting all day. No fun. I think I caught it from DS because he was really sick sunday and monday.
In other non sick news A has cradle cap.DS had it as well when he was little. I'm battling it with a combination of coconut oil and a paste of baking soda and water.
And poor DH is feeling a bit sad and sorry for himself. As both of us only ever wanted to have two kids he went in for the snip last Wed. And in the doctors own words he had bullriders balls (he actually was a bullrider when he was younger). The protective covering of his vas was extremely over developed and thick, and it made the op a lot more difficult and longer then it should have been, and it also caused him to have a lot more bruising then a normal vasectomy, so he's been hobbling around feeling very sore for the past week. I also freaked him out by actually watching the doctor perform it. One of my things...I've always been fascinated with watching surgery....which DH knows, so it shouldn't have surprised him that I watched....AND the doctor encourages the wifes/partners to be present for moral support. I just never had the opportunity to watch him get operated on...stitched on numerous occasions, but not operated on. Apparently all my questions made him uneasy though and he had to ask me politely to shut up halfway through
Wow. Nearly forgot. Can't beleive that I nearly forgot either. A is rolling! from her back to her belly. Leave it to me to have oddball children. LOL. DS started rolling from belly to back at 3 1/2 weeks, which is just stupid, ridiculous early. And now A is rolling early too, but from back to belly. They usually roll belly to back first. But it also means that she freaks me out on a regular basis because she prefers to sleep on her belly, so is constantly rolling over from back to belly to sleep and I'm now awake half the night petrified that she'll stop breathing because she can't roll back if she gets into difficulty![]()

The clothes sizes are a funny thing, Pholi. CHN measured J as 61cm and 5440grams on Monday and he is in 0000, probably for a few more weeks by the looks of it. And yes, Tal he is long, but a given if you see our families. Dad and his 8 brothers are all taller than 6'3'', my brother is 6'5'', I am 5'11''. Then the in laws are all over 6', DH is 6'2''. And size 1 shoes fit J's loooong feet already!!
Mum2 I hope you are feeling a bit better today? I know what you mean with not wanting to use meds, but if it makes your life easier and.C.feeling better then I would do it. I doubt it'd harm her.
Excuse my ignorance but what is cradle cap?
Dr Tal-yay for A rolling.
hi everyone else.
AFU-all is good. I finally got a video of A rolling from belly to back. She has been doing it since a week old so it took me this long to catch it lol. She is almost rolling back to belly too. I was so embarrassed yesterday. I was up the street and she did a poosplosion and it went all through her pram lol. I am still soaking her clothes. A is also getting too long for 0000 so we are now in a lot of 000 as well. Poor bubba fought sleep all day too and I have only just got her down at 9:30, she cluster fed most of afternoon so will hopefully sleep well again. The last 3 nights she has done 10-12 hours.
Thank you sweet ladies, feeling better today.
Dr tal and ddb - thats soo cool that your daughters are rolling!!!
Lady neon- cradle cap is this yellowy scale thing that forms on babys head snd sometimes eye brows
Dd has it but cleared alot after a few days of coconut oil treatment.
Ladies i need to get dd on the bottle for ebm as i have my best friends wedding coming up and may need mum to babysit. Any tips? Everytime i try the bottle she goes ballistic and uses her tongue to push the bottle out. I know dd1 was the same so i use the pigeon teat.
Currently using warm water as i tried ebm a few time snd she cried so much i just gave up which then wasted the ebm
Mum2SC- have you tried getting someone else to give her the bottle? My DD wouldn't take one from me as she could smell milk on me.
Are the pigeon teats similar to your nipple? I've found it helps to find a teat that's shaped most like my own nipple. (for us it's the Dimples brand from Big W)
Wow about the girls rolling! Kayden can roll from tummy to back, but he doesn't get a lot of tummy time yet - mostly because his big 2yo brother nearly squashes him with hugs as soon as he is on the floor.![]()
Dr. Tal lol about bullriders balls! I hope my DH doesn't have anything like that (he used to ride horses, since he could walk basically)
AFU: I've finally got my chiro appointment tomorrow (it's been rescheduled several times)
Will be interesting to see what she says about my back, and I'm going to get her to give Kayden a quick check over as well.
Has anyone else started/ considered starting exercise and fitness stuff again yet? I'm thinking of joining an indoor netball team, just trying to decide whether to leave it until the new year or start now.
DDB eew to pooplosion! So not good lol. Are you able to machine wash your pram?
Mum2 no tips to bottlefeed from me.
Chrispe I've already started exercise. Played a game of netty the day DS was 6 weeks lolthen another one on Monday night. Keen as. Except I'm paranoid of tearing the episiotomy scar... I'm a shooter and do the massive leg split thing haha.
AFU 2 nights in a row DS has slept 7 hours. Tuesday night 12.30 - 7.30, and last night 10.30 - 5.00. Oh and we went out for dinner last night with friends and he slept the whole time
Big boohoo now. I think I have mastitis!! FML. DH and I were goofing around Tuesday night, I copped his knee to my boob and my god its been hurting since. I felt a bit crummy yesterday, really achy joints and tired. Last night I was having chillsit was a 30 degree day in Perth yesterday so not cold... I was shivering and so cold I couldn't sleep! Then I'd get super hot and nauseous, I sweated so bad my sheets are totally soaked. I'm stuffy and I feel like utter crap!!!
