Hi girls!

Alison - I hear you on the weight, unfortunately. I lost heaps in the first few weeks postpartum (not being able to eat will do that!) but I'm pretty sure I've gained some of that back. I just keep eating junk all the time, need to seriously stop that. And I bloody well need to start exercising again.

BS - go you with the 5kms! I'm with the others who wouldn't even be able to walk that right now! I was actually really fit through most of my pregnancy - it was only at the end that I wasn't able to keep up my exercise. Need to start again!

suz - Glad that Ryan's settled down.

sesame - I'm so sorry to hear about your father

beany - Glad that the Christening went well

Carmey - Liam's the same with the short feedings generally - and with short sleeps most of the time. He's starting to stretch out his nighttime sleep now, though, which is lovely.

Rachel - hi and welcome

And hi to anyone I missed!

AFM - This would be almost funny if I wasn't feeling a bit like death. On a whim, I decided to bake some lactation cookies the other day. Which are absolutely delicious, by the way, and doing absolutely nothing for my weight. I've been eating a few - okay, maybe more than a few I actually didn't think they were doing anything, until last night. I woke up at about 2am super engorged (about what I was when my milk came in). And typically, Liam had a really long sleep last night (about 7 hours, then 3 hours) and didn't wake up for ages to feed. I should have gotten up and pumped, but I kept on thinking that he'd wake up. Thankfully he's had three long feeds this morning (which is unusual in and of itself, since he only feeds for a short period most of the time) and the engorgement has gone down. But I'm pretty sure I have a blocked duct again now. Running a low fever and generally feel a bit off - had to actually pop Liam off in the middle of a feed and shove him at a sleeping DH so I could dash to the loo this morning. I'm feeling better now after some painkillers and a hot shower. I'm trying to megadose with vitamin C to prevent this becoming mastitis and feeding as much as I can, but if it doesn't resolve I'll do the doc.

Lesson here - the lactation cookies work Alison, could be worth a shot to try to up your supply?

Liam's been pretty unsettled the last few days. I think it's just a developmental stage - he wants to talk and interact all the time and keeps getting distracted on the boob. He spent so much time yesterday popping off and looking around at everything - it was way cute, but frustrating at the same time. After his huge sleep last night he's asleep again now, so maybe there was a bit of a growth spurt involved as well.

Some interesting reading for anyone with unsettled bubs - I just finished reading The Happiest Baby on the Block, which has some awesome ideas for settling bubs.

Whoops, Liam's awake - have to go and feed him I think
