Thank you to whoever it was who gave the RAK to me. I'm speechless. May you be rewarded with kindness tenfold

WOOT the New Orlean Saints won the superbowl.. I promise I'm not barracking for St Kilda this year (they will have a good chance)... I was going for the colts - LOL!!

OP - a boy congrats!! With the willies, just put a facewasher over it, or cover it with a wipe. You won't be able to stop the wee but the whole idea is to just stop a golden fountain from happening.

Kaz - for the loss of your dog. They are such characters. Enjoy your holiday.

Nai - for the fragmented sleep
Ali - LOL at the dog chewing the ball. Alex doesn't talk much (except he goes on about dada).. It's hard to remember to talk to them. I usually just show him something and say what it is. WOOT on the steps..Don't know about avatars, I have enough trouble posting things - LOL
    shell -
Olive - yeah we have a few tanties here. I laugh at Alex or just let him go and ignore him.

AFU - I slept for 7 hours yesterday afternoon. I ignored DH when he came in to give Alex to me - I figured he could look after him, while I slept - of course we had a 'discussion' about sleeping and I told him that I'm making up on almost 21mths of lack of sleep.

I still can't settle Alex in his cot and I'm struggling with his crying in the cot - too many triggers, I just think of all the times that I felt unable to change things and how hopeless it was and how I was constantly sad for 10 years and I just pull Alex out of the cot and cuddle him to make everything right in his world - I know I'm a sucker. I'm sure I'll get over it... I'm working on it..

What's wrong with this - taking him out of the cot and cuddling??? I don't feel that's a bad thing for you to be doing hun. You're his mum! Did someone at the sleep clinic or something tell you that you shouldn't be doing this?

If DD is crying in her cot I can't relly leave her there to scream either. The difference with her is knowing what is just a whinge/grizzle versus actual crying. The other day she woke up (teething I think) crying, real anxious crying and I literally ran straight in to get her, she was so distressed. Normally I let her wake up a bit but not that day. If they need to be comforted, I say comfort. If that works for you, I say do it.

And good on you with the RAK - you deserve it No I'm not saying it was or wasn't me (because people got in trouble for intimating it might have been them) but I'm saying you deserve it

    Hi to everyone else!

Thanks for all the willy advice - think I am in for a bit of a shock with the "shower" affect!!!!! It did make me laugh though, a lot! I'm at work right now so it was kind of muffled strangled laughter

Olive - tantie - yes! My parents house has stairs and she would spend all day going up them and then cracking tanties because she doesn't like going down them (we make her go backwards and she hates it) - so we try and stop her from going up, restrain her to the downstairs area and she cracks it! Its quite funny really!

Also hearing you on the air cond - I can't handle the heat either and what a time for yours to pack up!! GL on getting it fixed soon... And ALSO hearing you on the clingy baby - we are calling Isabel "velcro baby" at the moment because she is so miserable! More about that later...

Shell - yay on the CC for Ash! That should be great for her. Hope she goes well at orientation! It'll be nice for you and Em to have some time too

Ali - ooo 2 steps! The end is nigh! As for talking, DD says a few words, she's pretty chatty - but then I never shut up so its no wonder She says "a-woof!" now whenever she sees a dog, "ta!" for cat, she's pretty good on the mumumum and dadadada but she's also now starting to say "da-da" for "Grandpa" - like she mimics the sound and the syllables but can't say that actual GR or PA part. But she isn't really anywhere near walking yet so go figure! As you say, all are different.

Nai - well done on your first week of work!!! Glad the girls seem to be behaving with sleep for you - though not good on G's sore bum! Poor love! Hope that clears up for her soon. Get some rest!

Kaz - hope you are having a good holiday! So sorry about your much-loved member of the family Hope you guys are not too sad - I think we all know how devastating it can be.

Ellie - nice work on the rest. Hope you can keep it up! You're almost up to third tri now - can't believe how fast it is going!

Hi to everyone else! Better get off, I'm being naughty at work!

malyna its very much deserved by you
i hear you on not wanting A to cry, you need to do what your mummy instincts tell you to do

Malyna - well deserved!! I am looking forward to seeing your avvy I don't think there's anything wrong with a cuddle either. When Miss J won't self-settle I always take her out for a cuddle and rock, although it's getting less frequent these days.

Sorry - very short as am work. DP was up all night vomiting so I have been awake since 2am and praying it isn't gastro as we have the girls birthday this weekend and it will be a disaster if we all get sick! Also AF returned this morning so I feel rotten - first time since before I got pregnant. I haven't missed it at all!

Nai - fingers crossed you all don't get gastro and DP keeps it to himself.

We were told at teh sleep clinic to keep alex in his cot when he cried. I had major problems with it because he is not a screaming baby - so he'd be crying and the nurse would say "that's okay, he's not hysterical' and I'd be saying "no, that is my baby hysterical"
When he came out he was whimpering (which now I know is his anxious sound).

BBL for personas.s Alex is upset

Heaven - on the sleep issues.

Went to the MCHN nurse today, and he's grown another cm in length and his weight is 40g heavier than on the 30th Jan. I think he's just being a baby.

Re the avatar.. mine is going to be really left field. I like all of your avatars and I did think about having a family on mine but I'd rather just see what turns up. :-D

Hi all, just quickly popping in to say I'm reading and keeping up with all the posts, just not getting a lot of time to post myself.

Sounds like we're all having downers....

    Kaz sorry about your pup

Nai, sorry about AF and DP...that really sucks. Hope you're all well for the girls' birthdays.

Ali, hope DD settles into creche quickly.

Olive, wow on all those teeth! Glad DD1 is enjoying kinder.

Heaven, I'm of the same thought as you...go with the flow. Can't be bothered stressing over what he is and isn't doing. DD certainly is a clever little miss!

Malyna, sorry to hear of the settling issues. It sounds like the nurses at the sleep clinic are trying to get the babies to desensitize...I don't see how letting them scream in distress is helpful. Then again, maybe they didn't think his screaming was too bad, but obviously you know best so do not feel like you're "giving in" by picking him up! There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. L does my head in continuously with his whinging and crying and cosleeping, but I pick him up and I sleep with him because that's what works. I certainly don't think it's wrong - it's not ideal for me, I'd rather him sleep through the night in his own bed sure, but I give an even higher preference for ensuring he feels loved, reassured and secure. So if that means not letting him cry and having a clingy baby then so be it. They all develop at their own pace - he won't be wanting you to carry him in 10 years time (well, that's what I keep reminding myself each time I want to scream "this is just ridiculous, shut up!!!!") Also, with his cries triggering bad memories for you, that seems an even bigger indication that your mummy instincts are right. Trust them, and pick him up if you feel he is very upset

On a more positive note...CONGRATULATIONS OP!! It's a boy yayy! Believe it or not, I've never really been peed on! Just very lucky I guess...I don't even do the covering willy with a wipe or anything, just wing it! I have no idea about toilet training though...DP is going to have to take charge there He's a bit prudish though, which I find odd. He won't undress/dress in front of L and refuses to bath/shower with him. He doesn't want L to see his man bits...is that strange for a dad? I know I had baths with both my mum and my dad...thought it was normal!

Shell, woohoo on the CC place! Hope she enjoys it.

Hi to Pinny, Ellie, Megie and anyone else I missed, sorry!

AFU, L's 8th tooth is cutting through. He now has 4 top and 4 bottom! We have his 12 month check in 2 weeks time - looking forward to weighing him Other news...DP's cousin and his wife had their first baby this morning. She was induced and had her waters broken and was in labour for something like 40 hours Only had gas and those water injections for the back pain. Amazing effort. We went to visit them today, they had a little girl! 8 and a half lbs and she looked so tiny! L was 6lb 5oz and I can't remember him being that small! Suprisingly I don't feel too clucky at all (thank God).

Anyway, it's past midnight so better be off. MG tomorrow at 11am. It suits all the other babys' routines but not ours. L still has 2 days sleeps, one at 11am and one at 3pm. Not sure what to do if we want to be there on time. Do I get him up earlier in hopes he has his first nap earlier? Or do I try and keep him awake so he only has one day sleep after lunch? I really don't want to miss out on going just because it's his sleep time

Pinny - 8 teeth - wow! now that's impressive. DH and I were the same with the nurses - we decided how we wanted to bring Alex up and they just didn't listen to our parenting style, so I just pick him up and cuddle him (thanks for everyone's support)

    Olive - Alex's stats
    8.5mths - W 7950, L 68.8, HC 44.8
    10mths - W 8300, L 71.8 (didn't measure HC)
    11mths - W 8300, L 72.5 (Jan 19)
    11mths - W 8405, L 73cm, HC 46.5 (Jan 30)
    today - W 8450, L73.6 (didn't measure HC)

SIL sent me the stats for her baby (who is off the charts- he's going to be tall) - and there were months when he did not gain weight but gained length and he's a perfectly happy almost 3 year old.
