Kaz - all the best with the hairdying.. I need a haircut desperately - haven't had it cut in 4mths! - I think I've skipped going grey and just got really thin hair, and it was thin to start with . My hair looks like crap at the moment.. I'm thinking about lashing out tomorrow and getting it cut, or else I'll have a go (that should encourage DH to look after bubs for a bit!).
Ali - the hair isn't too bad today - it would help if I didn't have two really hot showers a day and cook it. Ali won't go to sleep without the boobies.. thanks for the advice.. might have to talk with the MCHN to see what she says about it.
AJP - use it whenever my hair feels really dry.
AFM I spent from 2pm to 9.30pm with Alex in my arms today - he didn't want to do anything else and I couldn't put him down coz he just whinged. I managed to get in a bath (maybe 20 minutes) then he was up again until 11.20pm, and he's just gone down.. hopefully for the night. crapola now I feel like I'm doing something I need to change with the daytime routine (hang on we don't have one!).
Hi girls - had a very bad night with Alex last night - he just wouldn't settle. I ended up leaving him in his cot, wrapped and I fell into a really deep sleep (I wouldn't have woken if there was a tornado in the house kinda sleep). Don't ask where DH was because he is #1 on my list for how-many-years-would-I-get-if-he-disappeared-list. I think my foot is becoming deformed from kicking his butt to get him to do stuff..
Really tiring not having any backup to give me a rest.. can't ask the MIL or DH.. while they offer its the offering that doesn't actually mean they want to help out, coz I've called on them and they don't do anything except make more work for me to do
Sorry for the selfish ranty post.. just needed to get it off my chest, and now I'm better and goign to have a shower and head to the library before DS gets too much rattier.
Nephew is recovering, apparantly he had some rare thing that happens in like 0.04% children, forget what its called but where part of the umbilical from birth has disolved inside the body and ends up in the bowels and in his case caused all that bleeding. Specialist said 2% kids will have it in there bowel but only causes the probs in 0.04%. So yesterday they cut that bit of bowel out and he'll stay in hospital til he is passing poo.
Another crap night here, I'm starting to have a constant headache, Emily is just cat napping alot of the night, I guess my first start would be to get rid of the dummy but so tiring just thinking about all the crying its gonna cause then who knows she still may be unsettled at nights. Besides the dummy replacing she has times in the night where she wakes herself too much and spends an hour squeling.
Tarkine- How did the night go? Yeah splash out, get your hair done.
Ali- Took quite a few months for my hair last time to settle, yeah its like you said whenever I have shower can get chunks out, so bad, last time I seriously thought I was gonna go bald, I can clean the rug and a few days later run my hand across it and get lots hair!
Tarkine- we posted same time, big hugs hun, give him to DH for a whole night I reakon, if he is not working at the moment he can help out alot more. It is frustrating tho sometimes with men, they should automatically just say 'here give him to me'. I hope you get some rest, maybe arvo nap?
Tarkine- Really that is not on. DH needs to help you out. You had a child TOGETHER, so you need to parent through the good and bad TOGETHER.
Shell - Maybe time to investigate sleep school? They can help ypu get rid of the dummy.
It must have been the night for it. E catnapped from 2 till 5, and had us going in constantly. Pretty tired today. Doesn't help that J is bored and wants to go out. He keeps saying he wants to go to the shops
I'll definately consider sleep school if can't do it on my own.
I did manage to get her to sleep this morn by patting, so I;ll try persevere. Don't know what the night will be like tho, patting might end in screaming and wake Ash then I'll have 2 to contend with.
Bored toddler is hard thats when they start playing up.
Sorry to hear that a lot of us are having a rough time
Megie, thanks for your offer to help, and your mum! I am too shy/embarrassed to actually take your mum up on her offer Where does she live anyway? Next time you visit her we could catch up
Shell, glad to hear your nephew is on the mend. Hope you all are feeling better today.
Sorry I can't remember what else was said...you guys talk too much
AFM, we chose L's portraits the other day. I initially wanted them all on disc and I would get them printed myself but then the lady said is would be $2000+ Ended up getting about 15 prints for $500 and apparently that was discounted for me They are so sneaky! It's so hard to choose favourites. Anyone know how I could get them onto the computer?? Is it possible? Does scanning ruin them?
Tarkine - if I was closer I would kick your DH's butt for you! Especially now he isn't working he should be more help. However, I have found that many men aren't good at thinking for themselves as to what they can do to help and need specific instructions eg. I need to give DP step by step instructions on how he can help.
Holly - I think you can scan the pics if you have a good quality scanner
Shell - I'm glad to hear your nephew is ok. I know what you mean about not wanting to wake the older child! I would let Miss J try to settle herself a bit more if I wasn't so worried about her waking DD1!
Megie - J must be bored if he wants to go to the shops although DD1 did ask to go to the supermarket last week
Tarkine- I hear u on the DH side of things I'm so over mine at the moment....seems to very selfish atm & doesn't seem to be as hands on...although after a few remarks from me i think he is slowly getting the picture, he did let me sleep in the past two mornings which is the biggest help of all but it's all the other stuff. I hope your DH starts to come to the party, they can be so annoying at times...Chin up darl!!!!
Holly- the photo's sound great, can't wait to see them, good luck with the scanner.
Shell- yes i agree must of been a full moon or something last night L was a shocker from 4 am onwards thought it was time to play but he did start the night out ok slept from 9pm till 2.30am, that's fantastic for him.. SO Glad you rnephew is ok, it's amazing that the umbilical cord can cause such a illness....how old did u say he was again??
Meg I think your right about not worrying too much about DD and her sleeping in our room, she does go straight to sleep and does not disturb us, it's just so fustrating as she was an angel all her life before Lewis came along.
Ali- Thanks for sharing the stuff from your friend was an interesting read.
AJP- Hope your feeling ok and didn't get the conjunctivitis....you must be so over sickness.
We have had a lazy day at home......although did send DH down to kmart to do a small Xmas layby, thought it was better to send him with a list so i wouldn't see stuff and add that...trying to be cost effective this year....DD always ends up with way too much and to be honest I HATE TOYS!!! I work in early childhood so you would think I'd be tolerant of them in the house but I can't stand the clutter and I hate all the plastic stuff these days.....
Sleep wishes to us all, think I'm going to have a glass of champagne with dinner, better go I'm starting to drool now!!!
Pinny- he is 5 so should recover quite well. I haven't even tried approaching those toy sales, I figure they always have sales sometime in the year so will wait.
Holly- ikwym, I knew when you went to look you'd have that problem! They suck you in. I don't think scanning will ruin them. I do that, scan them onto computer, save onto disc then go to photo places and get copies for family that way doesn't look sus of me copying pics we're not meant to.
Day 1 here of dummy removal. Been up and down, she actually settled within 10mins at bedtime but awake now, just grizzling so not rushing up yet, day sleeps been harder so lets see what the night brings.
Speaking of partners, mine is passed out on the couch, he may as well not be here for all the use he is. I cracked it with him earlier and poured beer over his head.
shell id do the same thing! sounds like your doing well with the dummy though
DH did the kmart sale on wednesday night!!
tarkine i hope tonight is a better night
pinny i think all out partners need a swift kick up the arse from time to time!!
nai we spoke at swimming with the managers about getting millie into lessons, she should start in around a months time! cant wait!
sophie asks to go to the shops too
holly glad the photos turned out well!!
arrrhhh cant type much more, too much wine! (albeit two glasses two pot screamer here )
Looks like it was a bad night for most of us with sleep and men.
I knew I had it coming with Ashlyn going to bed at 5:30am. She slept until 12:30 (7hrs) then up at 2:30 for an hour, then 5am then 7:15am. Last night was the first night that I felt like DP got cross with Ash keeping him awake. He didnt get home from work until 11:45pm and then had to do a 12hour shift today starting at 9am in the city so I kind of dont blame him. He slept in the spare room and yelled out to me "Can you just try and settle her, I need to sleep". I yelled back "I am trying to bleeping settle her, have been for the last hour and I need sleep too". So not a great night for us. Kept her awake tonight until 7pm.
I was thinking of changing her bedtime until later but I dont know how I would get her to stay up for longer.
Megie- how cute that J wanted to go to the shops! Holly- yep scanning will be fine. We just got the Pixma printer, scanner and copier. I am yet to try out the scanning option. Shell- PMSL at the beer! I would have loved to have seen that. Pinny- I have noticed that Kmart now has a range of wooden classic toys. I am thinking of buying them. SO much nicer than all the plastic. Although I did buy DD the FP drum set that makes noises when you hit the top of it. Think it was $25. She loves it. Tarkine- I hope having the vent helped. It always seems to help me.
Is anyone watching the Haunted Mansion on channel 7? I think it is a kids movie and I am actaully scared! LOL!
Hi Ladies!
Finally have internet sorted WOO HOO! Will do my best to catch up...sooooo happy to be back!
Had our first 'good day' today...now for some sleep...
Shell - glad to hear that your nephew is ok. at you tipping beer over DH's head.. reminds me of when I was younger and my mum threatened to tip a bucket of water over me to get me out of bed. I still remember the sound of her filling that bucket!
Holly - OMG - those photos were pretty exie.
Pinny - I hear you on the clutter front.. I'm starting to hate clutter. I went mental in the kitchen this morning cleaning it up.
Thanks for the words of support. I did feel better after sharing the crap. Went for a walk today, the actual temperature was 1.7 which was freezing but I needed to get out of the house. Alex was rugged up, with layer upon layer.
Just wanted to quickly add how awesome my DH was with Miss E last night. He didn't get home till midnight, then afterr I was up for more than an hour he told me to go back to bed, and he spent half hour with her. (this was at 4am) then he had to get up at 6am to drive my sis to the airport. So I feel very supported. He even came home from work at 9am (as he can bring the ambulance home with his job) and told me to go rest for an hour, so I got another hours snooze in. I would love to be able to lend him out to you all.
Hi Ellie
Ali - Hope you managed to keep her up.
AJP - Great that she will start swimming soon. E will start next year when J moves up a lesson and I don't need to get in with him.
LMAO Shell at the beer - that would have been hilarious!
I just got back from a Hen's night. DP had the 2 girls from 6.30pm and when I left Miss J was asleep. She woke 10 mins after I left. She took a little from the bottle but cried for about an hour so I rushed home at DP's request and she fell asleep 10 mins before I got home Oh well - I got to eat dinner, play a few games and drink 2 glasses of wine.
Meg- woohoo to your DH, sounds like he can come give my Df lessons considering I just had smart ass Df tell me how easy my life was. He's a smart mouth after beers. How has E slept during the day today? Hope you have a better night.
Tarkine- Its great to come in here and be able to get load off your chest isn't it, nice to have the support.
woohoo Ellie I'd be so lost without the net!
Ali- if she goes to sleep at 5:30 could you maybe wake her up say after 30mins, have a cuddle, a bath try drag it out a bit then get her down after 7ish? Emilys day sleeps vary in times so some days she will wake from a sleep at 4 and I know she won't last til 7 so try squeeze in just 30mins I also make that nap in her bouncer downstairs so she does just have cat nap.
AJP- You sound like me, 2 drinks and I'm anyones, lol.
Nai- isn't that always the way! I hope you got to enjoy yourself tho. I haven't had night out for ages, got a 40th party at the end month so looking forward to it.
Well I don't want to mozz myself but Emily is actually sleeping better so far. I know I am going to curse myself saying it but I put her down at 7 each night and she has feed anywhere between 10-10:30 but between those feeds she wakes at least 3 times, tonight once and settled fast and haven't heard her since. I'm starting to think that maybe the dummy dropping out while she was asleep was waking her so if she goes to sleep without it it can't disturb her, so I'm hoping anyways!
