Amy - agreed, I dont much like her routines re feeding either, and agreed its very breastfeeding unfriendly, I am very glad I didn't read the book when I was pregnant or a new Mum. I am a great believer that babies have their hungry and unhungry days, just like we do as adults, and overall I'd rather respond to Baileys needs rather than my own needs to have him feeding, sleeping at a certain time, but mostly they normally fall into a pretty constant pattern. Two tips that I have taken from her book that ARE working well is that I have stopped wrapping Bailey during the day and just popping his little summer weight sleeping bag over his clothes for day naps and he has napped longer every time I have done this - seems to associate the sleeping bag with sleeping rather than catnapping which is fab! Also, by pushing his morning nap back a little (eg till 9am) he is sleeping longer and lasting out the day better. I am still cuddling and rocking him to sleep, he's usually asleep within 5 mins anyway so its really not a chore. I tried to let him self settle the other day as I posted and it doesn't work for us (plus I missed my cuddles hehehehe). I bought Pinky McKays book from Toys R Us yesterday, am loving it, it really reinforces everything that I am doing and has given me a huge confidence boost. So overall I have reminded myself that no book can tell me how to parent, but I am finding a few great tips and ideas to steal along the way.....
PS Bailey slept 7pm to 6am last night (he woke briefly at 3am, I popped him into bed with us and he went straight back to sleep), no bottle required, I was pretty damn impressed with that effort.....

Glad his eye issues are righting themselves. Keep us posted after the specialist visit.
IRT working out his routine so you can see him around work, I wouldn't stress too much. His routine may naturally change by then anyway, and he'll be that much older and probably that much more capable of staying awake a bit longer for you. Probably the excitement of seeing Mummy will keep him alert and awake for you

so my boobs were aching a fair bit when I got to her - it'd been around 6 hours. But then I had to wait another half hour after I got to Mum and Dad's because she was having her afternoon sleep. Was lovely though- we had really nice snuggles once she was awake.
