Thanks Arimeh!! I guess it's something to look into a bit more... He definately doesn't do it at every feed, he is feeding happily away right now!

Just wanted to tell everyone (cos i'm so excited!), a friend of mine has kindly lent me her baby wrap (called a 'Sleepy Wrap') and it's bloody fantastic! So comfy to wear and Archie just loves it! Took him to the supermarket in it and he slept the whole way round (unheard of!)!!!! So i feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders cos i now have an option for when i want him to be calm and quiet cos he is so clingy!! YAY! So now i'm looking into buying one myself! Call it my xmas pressie!

Goodnight ladies! Don't stay up too late or Santa won't come.......

    Hi there

I hope everyone had a good day yesterday and was spoilt rotten!! We just had Xmas at home with my mum's side over (my parents are split up) and it was good then up to my dad's in the afternoon to take JD for a swim with his cousins....only 2 tantrums yesterday so that was a record for him!!! Shouldnt have any on Xmas day, but you cant tell him that!

Nattyfred - I usually put her in the pram and she just stays by the clothesline with me or if we are the only ones up I just put her in the bouncer and keep her just inside the back door where I can hear her if she gets the cranks and she can still see out and look around....we have 2 cattle dogs which are friendly enough so that's why she's in the pram out the back otherwise I would just take the boucer out....

Arimeh - I dont think I have slept through a night without having to get up / wake for some reason in the last 2 years.....except for our wedding night probably but that was such a late night it doesnt really count and that was over 2 years ago now I think of it....I think you do adjust after that length of time, but when I'm only getting 2 - 3 hours it just kills me....I need to padlock all the kitchen cupboards and bedroom doors and then maybe I could shut my eyes and trust JD on his own...even then he'd still get up to something!!

Kymmy81 - Abbey does the same with her sleeping - I put her down and guaranteed 20 mins later (at the most!) she is awake again....I get sucked in and end up sitting on the lounge with her or putting her on the pillow on the lounge where she is all snuggly and at least that way I get a bit of sanity without her whinging....she used be happy to sit around when she was awake but not at the moment....it's driving me insane!! I cant get anything done when she's awake cause she's crying most of the time and then when she is asleep I cant do anything either....why is it so hard to sleep??!??! I would like some!

AFM - Abbey is still being really unsettled....I read what you were all talking about in regards to that silent reflux thing and I dont think she has that as she is pretty good with her feeding but then I dont know why she's so cranky?? She does have times where she pulls on and off and has a squeal and carries on...she did this last night for ages, crying, sucking, getting off then on again but it seems she was just overtired from all the events of yesterday as once went to sleep she slept from about 10:30 through until nearly 4 so that was a surprise then up for a feed then down again til nearly 7....my boobs were killing me they were that full...they're used to her being attached nearly 24/7....wish they could talk to tell us what's wrong!

Sorry for the essay...hope you are all well.

Hi Everyone, I hope Christmas was great for you and santa came to your kiddies and to you lol.. There is a funny thread on here about bad christmas pressies and one lady got a jar of chutney for chrissy but it was a jar ffrom the supermarket lol...V got heaps of stuff and as promised the in laws brought craploads of stuff from family friends from Melbourne. Clothes, great toys for now and later and even a size 2 outfit that looks like its leopard print lol...gross haha..I cant even give it to someone else it is so hideous...oh maybe as a joke

I got a blender which crushes ice which Ive wanted for ages, the latest Bryce Courtney and Paullina Simons books and the "buzz" quizz game for playstation. All of it was stuff I wanted so was stoked to get all of it the second book was a surprise as I didnt think dh really took that much notice of my faves, not that ill be doing much reading now lol..
I got dh a sander and decking equipment which sounds boring but he loved it. Now he can put up his shed I got him for his birthday cos he wanted to build the deck first. Its such a shame for him to put a shed on it it looks like a deck you would entertain on...

Amazingly our Chrissy went off without much of a hitch and as a Christmas miracle Violet has been a different baby for the past 3 days, only crying when there is actually something wrong...I cant believe it and just in time for the in laws as Im sure they would be full of advice if it was still crazy time....My mil is great but there is a bit of a lack of communication there but its ok. I do feel a bit like a kid when she well intentionally of course tells me what to do..."close the window, use a blanket, lets wash the baby, oh the air con is bad for babies etc..." DH and I hid in the babies room giggling about it today but its nice to have them here if not a bit frustrating at their old fashioned ideals

Honestly I cant believe the change in V and I wonder if it was just her getting used to the world?...Now she is alert but happy, willing to go into the swing as long as it isnt for ages, doesnt scream at every nappy change, clothes change, even handing out smiles and willing to be held by other ppl....whoah... where is my baby!!!??? DH and I are so relieved and honestly if she had kept it up Im sure I may have actually lost it myself...I no longer dread her waking up and am enjoying interacting with her instead of trying to calm her from the psychotic heights she was aiming at lol...DH and I are less stressed at each other too...I think Ill just be happy with that as the best Christmas present ever...Oh check out my fb I now understand why parents dress their kids in rediculous costumes because it is so fun and cute! Just got to get rid of her little pimply rash and she will be 100% cute lol I think Im biased though...

Jdsmum, I hope things get better for you too I was worried about reflux as I really wanted to blame something other than myself for Vs crying (not that it isnt real as I know reflux babies suffer horribly) even to the point of going to the doctors...The doc kind of looked at me and said yeah well she is a baby and they cry but how are you? ooohhh not what I expected lol..

Arimeh, um nope did you say something because I cant think of when you may have offended...Mostly everyone in here has differed on something in our bb pregnancy group and we have had some good discussions without anger or violence lol...Go for it I certainly prefer a straight shooter

Heavenly lol, I had half a beer woop! Id love to go get sloshed but the baby might go all funky again and I couldnt do it drunk lol....

Kymmy I might google the sleepy wrap, sounds interesting, have you tried a sling? V loves the peanut shell one probably cos it squashes her like wen she was inside lol.

Hi everyne else! I hope your holidays are great and your bubbas are making them better

    xx Natty

Hi Girls, hope you had lovely Chrissy's!

Hi Natty, I love reading your threads, always so entertaining. Glad you got all the prezzies you wanted and I'm going to go check out your FB piccies now, I've put some up too. Your story on the crap presents is so funny, what's with giving a baby a leopard print outfit ha ha, that's funny. Amelia got lots of little toys and things from my family and a little beach towel in a little backpack, it's so cute. I had to put them in her santa sack though and pretend they were from Santa, my family's orders LOL! I was thinking, even though I don't want to wish the next year away I think next Christmas will be so exciting for us won't it, they will be that little bit older and will have fun opening prezzies etc.

We had a lovely day too yesterday, long but lovely. Amelia is changing a lot too and getting more and more settled into a routine and like you Natty I can really tell now when she cries and what for so it's much easier to cope with huh. We're just about at 4 weeks (on Monday) so I think there's a bit of a turning point with their personalities from what I've been reading. I'm starting to see signs of proper smiles and she's really trying to grab things now. Her head is already ridiculously strong and she gets her legs moving too, it's funny! Gosh they grow so quick huh.

We braved the shops today, had to get a couple of things as we're heading down to the farm for a couple of days tomorrow and ended up in Pumpkin Patch with a few purchases, I love that shop, especially when there's a sale on! I was going to buy Amelia some little bathers but they start from size 3-6 months as the smallest and by the time she fits into them Summer will be over! Some of their things are quite wide and Amelia is long and skinny.

We're off to my sisters again tonight to finish off the food from yesterday, she has a pool so DH will go for a swim, the pool blanket has been on so the water is about 32 degrees, I'm so jealous, I'd kill for a swim! My bleeding has finished as such but still have a little bit of the leftovers here and there (sorry TMI) so not sure I should swim yet.

Well, if I don't get on much in the next couple of days it's because I'm down at the farm. Will probably check in tomorrow before we leave however! I will have withdrawals otherwise!

Have a great Boxing Day everyone!

    hey ladies merry christmas!

Natty i feel for you, aren't inlaws just hell?? argh *groan* *spew* , yep i feel for ya! hahahaha. Come on wednesday!!!! nothing worse than people telling you what to do, driving you insane. i find 'snapping' at them works wonders! haha, i'm so over pretending i like them i'm quite happy to snap and get in trouble by dh later on. when dd was born, mil had been nagging me for months prior to get a basinette, because it was sooo NECESSARY i didn't want to get one simply because she wanted me to. when dd was finally born in hossy she said "oh t, she is just going to be swimming in her cot", i groaned and said "for f***s sake sally, she's not getting a f***ing basinette, get over it" BAhahahahahahah!!! Haven't had any advice since that day, its been lovely!~!! So maybe you need to adopt a similar approach?? hahyahhahaha.

argh gotta go, theo is crackin it.
    love yas all

    hi ladies,

Hope you all had a great Chrissy! My kids got spoilt - as they do lol!

Ruby has been really unsettled, I think she is getting tummy pains. Her tummy is always making noises - she just needs to have a few goods farts I think. Poor thing.

I have been reading everyones posts but I just havnt got the energy to reply at the moment, hopefully in the next few weeks Ruby will be more settled and I will reply to you all. I am loving reading what you are all up to and what your bubs are doing.

    Catch up soon,

    Bec

Lol Hi Telly well last night V was OFF HER FACE crying and screaming Im still not sure why but mil after about an hour comes in I am in my undies and had only just got a tshirt on because V screamed so much when I had a shower an hour or so earlier I just wanted to calm her down...Mil goes why is she crying and I yelled "Do you think Id be effing standing here holding a screaming baby if I knew why she was screaming...?" Opps... Today I went out into the kitchen and we both said sorry so no real harm done except I have never been mean to her before..Still no change on the advice though, she honestly told me to be care ful while bathing her yesterday lol, I said "Well I havent killed her in the month you werent here so I think we are safe.." She does not get the hint, today she wanted to show me how to burp her.and even showed me how to pull her arm though the sleeve!!! WTF!!!.. lol Its easier to handle when V is not crying tho...lol.. Lol on your mil too at least she gets the hint heehee...

Kymmie Im going to check out your pics now but I bet they are cute. How fun is it to put them in silly clothes lol...

Hi Ubba I hope Ruby feels better isnt it horrible that we have to guess what is wrong..Its so heartbreaking to hold them while they cry and not really know why. The doctor showed me how to give V a bit of a belly massage, maybe that would help Ruby too.

Hi everyone else I hope your holidays are great and your bubbas are settling nicely.

Im not bragging about V anymore lol, I thought she was over her psychosis but it is lingering lol fingers crossed she is ok tonight I have finally cracked and bought some baby panadol for a last resort.

Ooooh first time mums how many nappy rash creams do you have, from everyone INSISTING that theirs is the best thing ever and I MUST use it I have 5 now lol...we just use the one they recommend until they leave then use the one we want...

    kill me kill me now...

Awww Natty - that must be sooo hard to deal with, I think I would go insane. My MIL is like that too - always drove me nuts with Aricyn, I could have killed her most of the time, but luckily we lived in the same town so I could up and leave her house whenever I wanted.. lol

Can you leave the room with V when she starts up? She might get the hint then that her advice isn't wanted

Oh - and see if V will take the brauers Calm potion - you get it from the chemist, would be better for her little tummy than panadol We use it for Mehkelti in a hope of getting her to sleep better of a night, she sleeps sorta ok most nights, its getting her TO sleep thats the problem

Nappy rash creams - we have an assortment too. Because we use cloth nappies (although I'm taking a break at the moment until I find my rhythm with 3 kids!) we use Moogoo cos its really gentle on their skin. But I also have Bepanthan (which is one of my favs to use on rashes, but only when I'm using sposies) or Sudocream. I also have an excema cream from the people at Moogoo as well, and that was awesome for a fungal infection Mehkelti had earlier.

    Hello to everyone else

We are trialling another formula (yet another one) here, in an attempt to get DD2 to stop bloody vomiting all her feeds up. Today I was absolutely showered in vomit, she was like the chick in the exorcist or something - just going off completely!! I'm glad she doesn't get upset when she vomits or else she would be the unhappiest baby ever!!! So we are trialling the lactose free formula now to see if that makes a difference. So far so good. A tiny tiny little vomit and thats all so far. Fingers crossed this one is the one that works!!!!

    Hi there everyone....

Nattyfred - OMG....I really feel for you....it's terrible when someone's looking over your shoulder constantly and just waiting to get at you whenever they can.....especially when it's your baby!! You know what to do instinctively....dont worry about her....My MIL is in the UK and I'm sure if she was here I'd be suffering the same thing.....

Abbey had a really unsettled night last night but I think it was me eating chocolate again....in the end I ended up sleeping with her on the lounge so I could just pat her back whenever she woke up crying....easier than getting up and when I'm in bed and she is in the bassinet I never sleep properly after about 12pm cause I listen for every noise and just lie there waiting for her to wake up....it's so quiet and then she lets out the biggest explosion some times - how can something so sweet looking make these awful noises??!?!?!?

We use Sudocream and it seems to work well for us....that's only cause we got in the Bounty bag thing you get and just continued using it really!

Arimeh - hope the latest formula works for you...it's an expensive exercise isnt it?!!??

AFM - Just the usual....lacking sleep like everyone else and just getting through each day...have had DH home for the last 4 days and off tomorrow as well so that's good...I dont want him to go back to work, it's so nice having an extra set of hands at home!!

I feel like I need to start putting her in her bassinet awake so she teaches herself to go to sleep - does anyone else do this?? DS is a terrible sleeper and is in with us most nights (all at the moment as I'm usually on the couch...) We do everything wrong when it comes to sleeping but we are just so desperate to sleep we give in and just do whatever.....

Also, is anyone still using the nipple shields?? I'm still using it at every feed and I hope I dont jinx myself but my supply still seems fine although we do top her up with formula after some feeds if she seems a bit unsettled but that's not really that often....

Abbey must be growing up....today was the first time I didnt get stopped by complete strangers with them commenting about her hair and how much she has.....maybe she just isnt as cute anymore or something! People are fascinated with babies that have hair I think....it's mental! Takes ages shopping sometimes and being in a small town doesnt help either as you usually know every 2nd person that walks past too....

Anyway, hope you all have a good night with lots of sleep....I bet I dont!

Shayna - nah we never put her in the basinette awake, we just rock her to sleep most times, or she just falls asleep on our chest with a little bum patting. But don't take any advice from me about sleep issues - my (nearly) 17 month old has only JUST fallen asleep after nearly 2 hours of trying to get her to sleep (which happens EVERY NIGHT) and my (nearly) 3 year old wakes during the night and crawls into bed between me and DH. Its only the newborn that has no sleep issues in this house

jdsmum i always get stopped several times when i go out cos of her hair and the ooohhh shes a new one and im like no shes 12.5 weeks old but born at 32 weeks lol

i use nappy past vant remember the name but i found the paste better protected the bums lol just mo though

well ive been going out the last few night for drinks so been putting her on formula when out and now im gonna just do it at night though i feel really guilty(dont mean to offend ppl who ff) but im feeling bad cos its happened cos i wanted time to enjoy myself and i feel bad like ive lost something ,i just keep reminding myself that nights werent going that well anyways cos she was only sleeping 3 hours the last couple weeks and as long as i keep up the days i feel ok bout it,just feel like m doing it and being selfish but in the same token i used to be a real party pooper and not like ppl drinking etc esp dh and ive loosened up alot and am starting to learn to let go and enjoy myslef though i dont get drunk or anything and im also spending more time with my dad and step mum (my BF) so its been nice and it means im not so ****ty at dh for going out cos i do it to now though i still told him just cos ive loosened up with this doesnt mean i will ever loose up with the strippers kinda stuff thats still a big nono to me im just to jealous and letting him would cause to many problems...

hope everyones doing good...dh didnt get me anything so its lucky my family got good suff and he will get me something later

    hi ladies!

im typing 1 handed here so excuse any mistakes

has anyone noticed their babys eye colour changing yet? I look at ruby and her eyes are such a bright blue i think they will stay that colour, which is funny really cause DH has brown eyes and i have hazel eyes. Our DD1 has blue eyes and DS has brown. When DD1 turned out to have blue eyes we put it down to be a genetic throwback from my dad cause of his blue eyes - but i never thought it would happen again!!

Another question, im a bit embarressed to ask but anyhoo - when i have a letdown, i get milk coming out of a couple of places on my areolas. is this normal? Does it happen to anyone else or am i just strange?

Arimeh- DD1 was lactose intollerant and she was having the formula called de-lact. Hopefully you find the right formula soon for the sake of your whole family xxx

Heavenly- dont feel too guilty about giving S formula, its better you do that then drink anf BF - then you would have a reason for feeling guilty.

Shayna- im hearing you on the chocolate, but its soo hard not to eat it when it tastes so good... i will cut back though cause it is causing ruby to be really unsettled too.
We put ruby down awake if she hasnt already fallen asleep, sometimes she will go off on her own other times she needs to be rocked or fed. We just go with the flow.

    hi ladies

quick selfish one here- ill have to sit down and catch up soon
Harper is 2 weeks old today! wow! How thats flown!
she has been well, a bit unsettled in the last few days with wind- i think dairy and chocolate is the trouble here too- i'll have to give it up- she seems in so much pain poor bubba. Feeding on demand between 2-3 hourly whuch isnt too bad- she is small so i dont mind fattening her up!
Having a bit of trouble with tully- especially being stuck at home a bit since its been hot. i feel terrible that im neglecting the poor little darling. but harper just seems to need me a fair bit at the moment.
hope youre all well with your gorgeous bubbas and that you had a wonderful christmas- i think im a terrible mum- don't think i took any photos of harper on xmas day! she pretty much slept all day anyway!
happy new year to you all too- will be a quiet one all round i think!

    Hi Ladies!

Madame: You're not a terrible mum, i forgot to take any pics on xmas so i took some on boxing day instead! Boxing day is when our family all get together anyway! I feel like i'm neglecting DD too.. i think its just cause Archie has absolutely no routine yet! Hopefully we'll get our act together one of these days!

Ubba: Archie has very blue eyes too... DH has green and I have blue so i think they will stay blue too! I don't get milk coming out of my areolas, only about six holes through my nipples! Archie was feeding today and suddenly pulled off during a letdown and bent my nipple up with his chin and shot me right in the face!!! Noice.... haha!

Mon: Good on you for having some "me" time! About time, i say! I know what you mean about the guilts, i had a couple of drinks last night, i expressed enough milk beforehand but my best buddy bought me some formula sachets just in case, I didn't use them but i feel guilty just having them in the cupboard!!! Silly, i know, but i was feeling like maybe i was being a bit selfish too... to be honest i didn't have a great time anyway cos i knew that Archie would be awake soon anyway so you can't truly let your hair down! Was nice to have a couple of beers and a chat with friends though, it's been a long time between drinks!

JDsmum: I have just started trying to "teach" Archie to go to sleep by himself! The last two days have been awesome as he has just fed then i'll pop him back into his pram or bassinet and he goes to sleep on his own most of the time! Nice change from the norm of him falling asleep in my arms and then waking the minute i try to put him down! I know what you mean about the hair thing, Archie has a MOHAWK! He was born with it! It is so cute! Everyone always comments on it and asks us what we put in it to make it stand up like that.... haha! Like we'd put gel in our 3 week old baby's hair! haha! Although, DH's sister bought Archie some organic baby styling wax for christmas! It is so cute!!!

Arimeh: I use the Moogoo products as well! I LOVE the stuff! Archie's skin was terribly dry when he was born and it has been excellent for him. I also used it on my psoriasis, which nothing else worked on, and it disappeared completely! Good luck in your quest for a suitable formula!!

Natty: Poor lovey! Good on you for saying what you said! Hopefully she'll get the picture! Have you tried Brauer Colic drops?? Archie has screaming episodes too, he sounds as though he is pain because he does little squeals and also pulls his legs up, the Brauer stuff is excellent and it works everytime! He ends up drifting off to sleep every time and it is homeopathic so safe for bubs! Bonus! I also have about 374 nappy creams! I am loving one called "Weleda Calendula Nappy Cream" it is flaming awesome... so add that to your collection! haha! I hope things settle with V... and i hope your MIL buggers off and leaves your in peace!!!

    HELLO!!!!! to everyone else!!!

AFM: UM... a question! My right boob has SHRUNK! It is not filling up as much as good old lefty.... Archie still seems to get heaps out of it though and i expressed out of it yesterday and got plenty but i've just noticed the last few days that it doesn't seemed to get as "full" anymore even after a few hours without a feed... WHAT THE!!!?? I am seeing my midwife tomorrow but has this happened to anyone else?
Archie has been sooo settled the last two days during the day! Except for a few tummy aches he has been pretty much eating and sleeping and pooping.... in his own pram!
Yippee! I think we are getting somewhere! Well, i sure do hope so!!!!

Have a great night ladies, hope you get some sleep!

    Kymmy x
